00:00Dave, Quick Sports, what do you got?
00:02Okay, well, we're going to start with baseball, where the Mets beat the Dodgers 5-3.
00:06Chris Bassett pitched well for the Mets.
00:09Bassett threw six innings, giving up just two earned runs while striking out four.
00:13He receives the win.
00:15He's no slouch, man.
00:16I mean, you talk about the other two pitchers on the Mets, but Bassett's no slouch.
00:19He's pretty good.
00:20Francisco Lindor and Starling Marte had two hits each.
00:24Good series for the Mets as they end up taking two out of three from the Dodgers,
00:28who have the best record in baseball, and the Mets improved to 84-48,
00:33still three games in front of the Braves for first place in the NL East.
00:39The Yankees and Phillies were off this evening.
00:41The Yankees take on the Tampa Bay Rays in Tampa.
00:44It's suddenly a big series because the Yankees, who are still 79-52,
00:50are just six games ahead of the Rays for first place in the AL East,
00:54while usually six-game lead in September, you'd feel great about.
00:58The Yankees led the entire division by 15 games as recent as July.
01:05Such a weird feeling.
01:06It's been a collapse.
01:08To be so strong all season long, and now it feels like it's just slipping away.
01:12This is what a collapse looks like.
01:15A collapse.
01:16The Yankees are collapsing in front of our eyes.
01:18But they do have September to wake up, get their way, you know, and get hot.
01:23The Phillies are on the road again tonight.
01:26They take on the Giants in San Francisco.
01:29The Phillies at 73-58, still in the second National League wildcard spot
01:35by a half game over the Padres.
01:37Remember, there are three National League, three wildcard spots in each league,
01:41for that matter, this year.
01:42And the Mets play the Nationals this evening at Citi Field.
01:46Football, according to the New York Post, Tom Brady and Giselle Bunchen
01:51have been fighting over Tom's decision to play again this season.
01:55And remember when we said Tom Brady took a mysterious 11-day break from the Bucs
02:01and no one knew what was going on, and we thought it was to shoot a masked singer
02:06appearance for Bucs?
02:07Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:08That might not be the case.
02:09Now it looks like the case is that Giselle Bunchen split.
02:14She got on a plane, left their place in Tampa, and flew to Costa Rica
02:20because she was so pissed off that Tom Brady is coming back to football.
02:23Oh, she was promised a little bit of retirement action.
02:27I think so.
02:28So it looks like maybe that 11-day break was to smooth over.
02:31Oh, wow.
02:32When Tom Brady came back, his press conference didn't seem very happy,
02:37and he looks a little strange these days, and he didn't seem very happy
02:41as if he had just shot a masked singer appearance.
02:44In fact, he said, there's a whole lot of bleep going on.
02:48S-H-I blank.
02:49Wow.
02:50Giselle Bunchen might be looking for a new guy there, Gots.
02:53Hey, I'm ready.
02:54I'll tell you what.
02:55It must be nice, though, when you have marital problems like that.
02:57You can just hop on a plane and go to Costa Rica.
02:59Warm up the jet.
03:00That's nice.
03:01Yeah, I want to go to Costa Rica.
03:04That's beautiful.
03:05It's a nice life that they have, those two.
03:07But she doesn't want to play in football.
03:09And she's going to get a big check.
03:12Basketball.
03:13The Knicks officially blew it.
03:15I love it.
03:16I love seeing all my sports teams have the worst general managers
03:20slash owners in sports.
03:21They would have had to give up everything.
03:24No, it doesn't matter.
03:25The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired superstar guard Donovan Mitchell
03:28from the Utah Jazz.
03:29The Knicks had to give up a couple of draft picks.
03:32A lot of those were.
03:33A couple, like five, number one.
03:34Many, many of which were unprotected.
03:38So there's a difference.
03:40It's not just a blanket.
03:42Here, take all my draft picks.
03:43Some of the draft picks have conditions.
03:45Like if we have a sucky season, if we have a draft pick in the top ten
03:49or this or that, then we get to hold on to it.
03:51There were conditions on the draft picks.
03:53So the Knicks, yet again, blew it.
03:55So we have the worst baseball general manager, Brian Cashman,
03:59in this area.
04:00And now officially the worst owner in sports.
04:03Donovan Mitchell is just 25 years old.
04:05He plays for the Utah Jazz, if you don't know him.
04:07He averages 25 points a game and five assists a game.
04:10He's made the all-star team the last three years.
04:12He's a mega star.
04:13And he grew up in New York loving the Knicks fan
04:17and wanting to be a Knick.
04:18Made this clear to the organization.
04:20When they had a chance to trade for him,
04:22they got beat by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
04:26There's a lot going on in Cleveland.
04:29There's a nice town.
04:33Don't blame Donovan Mitchell.
04:34He wanted to come to New York.
04:36Listen, there's like three consecutive blocks in Cleveland with something to do.
04:42I'm sure he's going to like it, but the boy.
04:44Whole three.
04:45There's like three.
04:45The man is sad.
04:46Maybe four and a half.
04:47Four and a half.
04:47Okay.
04:48Well, great job there, Jim Dolan.
04:53Again, can some New York franchise owner who has billions and billions of dollars
04:59and they're in the number one market in the world realize that you need to spend money
05:03to make money in this area?
05:05It's a very simple premise.
05:07It's worked for a zillion years.
05:09And tennis, Serena Williams says Tiger Woods support is one of the main reasons she's still playing.
05:15Oh, that's fun.
05:16Yeah, that's nice.
05:16Tiger sent her some nice notes and said, stay out there, keep playing, you're dominating.
05:21She and Venus did lose their first round doubles match at the U.S. Open yesterday,
05:25but that was kind of just for fun.
05:27Sisters playing one last tournament.
05:28Serena plays tonight in the third round against a woman from Australia.
05:33And again, every Serena Williams match is on primetime TV because it might be her last.
05:37So 7 p.m.-ish or so.
05:40Check your local listings.
05:41That's a quick look at sports.
05:42Hey, man.
