00:00I might not, I might, it might, I've just given up on the season.
00:03Oh, no.
00:04It's fine.
00:06Oh, boy. What do we got?
00:08Uh, Eastside Dave here with Davey Mac Sports,
00:10and the Yankees were crushed by the Blue Jays last night, 9-2.
00:13The Yankees are going nowhere, so I'm not even going to freak out,
00:15at least not at 6-12 in the morning.
00:18But the newly acquired Yankee, Frankie Montas,
00:22remember, this is the guy who essentially, in a roundabout way,
00:25we traded Jordan Montgomery for,
00:27because Monty, who had an ERA, he was a Southpaw in Yankee Stadium,
00:32which is always a good thing, with an ERA around 3.5,
00:35we traded him so that we could make room for this new guy, Frankie Montas.
00:40Since coming to the Yankees, his ERA has been 7.
00:44He gave up 6 earned runs yesterday.
00:47He's been absolutely atrocious.
00:49He falls to 4-10 for the season.
00:53Montgomery was the guy who wasn't getting any run support from the Yankees.
00:56Right, and they traded him, though, for this guy,
00:59because they needed an upgrade for some reason.
01:04Don't really know what it was.
01:06This guy is horrendous.
01:08It's like ever since Gallo was traded, their fortunes have sunk.
01:12Yeah.
01:12What's that all about?
01:13Well, this guy has nothing to do with Gallo.
01:15No, this is a straight up, why did they trade Jordan Montgomery and get this guy?
01:21This guy sucks.
01:24I am wondering what was the reason, because it wasn't like this was something that was, again, not obvious.
01:31The guy was 4-9 on the Oakland A's.
01:34With not that impressive an ERA, Monty's was better.
01:37And since coming to the Yankees, he's been way worse.
01:41And as people have pointed out, in Oakland, that stadium is huge.
01:45In Yankee Stadium, you can give up some home runs.
01:47So, this guy, not working out at all.
01:50I mean, he's been bad.
01:51His debut, he gave up 8 runs.
01:53He's following it up there with 5 runs.
01:55And then he follows that up with 6 runs.
01:58Why would the Yankees...
01:59I can't even add that up so quickly.
02:01Yeah.
02:02Why would the Yankees pick somebody like that after that kind of record?
02:06Because I suspect Brian Cashman, the Yankees general manager, is on psychedelic drugs and not telling anyone about it.
02:12Thinking that he has somehow solved the matrix.
02:16He's Keanu Reeves in the matrix.
02:19And he's figured out baseball.
02:20But everyone else says, no, you get bad players and they play badly.
02:24And the team stinks.
02:26That actually makes a lot of sense.
02:27So, the Yankees, they drop a game.
02:29They still lead the Blue Jays by 9 in the AL East.
02:33The Mets fell to the Braves 3-2.
02:35Jacob deGrom receives the rare loss.
02:38You're used to him winning basically every start out there.
02:41But the Mets still do have a 3.5 game lead over Atlanta for first place in the NL East.
02:47The Phillies were off.
02:49They begin a series this evening against the Mets in Philadelphia.
02:52Basketball.
02:53The NBA has announced its opening day doubleheader.
02:55The regular season will begin on Tuesday, October 18th.
03:00With the Sixers playing the Celtics.
03:02And then LeBron James and the Lakers go against Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
03:08Good matchups right there.
03:09Football.
03:10Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson will now serve an 11-game suspension.
03:15And pay a $5 million fine.
03:17The NFL got that suspension bumped up five games.
03:22The initial suspension was six games, as we all know.
03:26Goodell wanted a stronger punishment.
03:30So he fired the judge that gave Watson the six games.
03:34Wow.
03:35Despite her being a female.
03:37And went with the 11-game one.
03:39Looks like for now Watson will take this one.
03:43But he could also appeal if he decides to change his mind.
03:46All right.
03:47And then finally, college basketball.
03:49College Hoops announcing legend Dick Vitale has announced that he is cancer-free.
03:56He was undergoing cancer.
03:58And in fact, it forced him to step away from calling college basketball games.
04:03His fight against cancer was public on ESPN.
04:10And a lot of people were giving him public support.
04:12So this is a nice thing to hear that Dickie V is cancer-free.
04:16And that is your quick look at sports.
04:17It's the rat.
04:18Good morning.
