00:00Okay, well, let's start with baseball where, yet again, the Yankees simply could not hit
00:05and they can't score.
00:08The Yanks lost to the Tampa Bay Rays last night 3-1.
00:11This is not good, man.
00:12No, Yankee starter and all-star Nestor Cortez did not pitch badly.
00:16He did let up a three-run home run to Randy Orozarena in the first inning,
00:21and that was all the damage the Rays needed.
00:23But after that, Nestor was pretty good.
00:25But the Yankees just can't score.
00:27They can't hit.
00:28I mean, it's getting embarrassing.
00:30The Yanks are still 72-45, usually 27 games over .500 is a good thing,
00:36but this has been a bad stretch.
00:39Three-game losing streak.
00:41They've lost eight of their last ten.
00:43What happened?
00:44They're 20-27.
00:45What happened?
00:47I don't know.
00:47And then in their last 47 games, the Yankees are 20-27.
00:51What's happening is they don't have enough offense,
00:53despite the fact that everyone, including this broadcaster on this very radio station,
00:59was screaming for Juan Soto because the Yankees needed another bat.
01:04Brian Cashman, the Yankees general manager, he likes to outthink everyone.
01:09He doesn't like to just watch the game and go, okay, here's what we could use.
01:13A bat.
01:14A lefty bat.
01:14We all said that in the offseason when he wasn't doing anything,
01:18and then they came out and they just crushed it
01:22and were setting records for Yankees scores.
01:25And it hasn't been like that in 50 games.
01:28No, it hasn't.
01:29So, I don't know, maybe he knows something we don't?
01:31That's the point.
01:33He always thinks he knows something we don't.
01:35He doesn't.
01:36Well, how do you know what he knows?
01:38I'm watching the games.
01:40Okay, have you talked to him?
01:42I'm watching what's in front of me.
01:44The Yankees can't hit.
01:45We asked for hitters.
01:47Why didn't Brian Cashman get his hitters?
01:49That's all I'm saying.
01:50I understand that.
01:50I do know more than Brian Cashman.
01:52You know how I know?
01:53I'm watching a team that can't hit, Carl.
01:55You don't know more than Brian Cashman.
01:57He's going to work every day.
01:58You're not going.
01:59Show me your work badge that says I can get into the employee parking at Yankee Stadium.
02:04Just because someone has a job that I don't have
02:07doesn't mean that they might know more.
02:09He has shown that he doesn't know how to put together a lineup.
02:13Ladies and gentlemen, Davey Mack knows more than Brian Cashman.
02:16I do know more than Brian Cashman.
02:17New York Yankees.
02:18This is me, Dave McDonald.
02:20You want to hire me?
02:21I'll get your team going like that, like tomorrow.
02:24All right, let's go ahead and give him a call.
02:26Who's Brian Cashman?
02:28It's the Yankees GM, and he sucks.
02:32He sucks.
02:33I mean, so you're defending Brian Cashman?
02:36I'm saying there's a possibility that since we went through this before,
02:40that we all said, hey, he's screwed.
02:43Even myself, I said, where's the pitching?
02:45Where the hell is the pitching?
02:46In the offseason, I wanted some pitchers.
02:49And what happened?
02:49Their pitching was excellent.
02:51Yeah, the pitching isn't a problem.
02:53We wanted bats.
02:54I wanted a bat.
02:54We all wanted bats.
02:55I can't hit.
02:56What I'm saying is he knew something that a lot of people didn't.
02:59Everybody calling for more pitching.
03:01More pitchers.
03:01We want more pitchers.
03:02We need a pitcher.
03:03We need a pitcher.
03:03Right?
03:04And pitching turned out to be okay.
03:06That wasn't me.
03:07That was you.
03:09You said that.
03:09I didn't say we need more pitching.
03:11I said we need hitting.
03:12Hitting.
03:12I've been asking for Bryce Harper, Juan Soto.
03:15Anyone who's a lefty bat, I've been begging for.
03:17And guess what?
03:18The team can't hit.
03:19The team gets zero to one run every single game.
03:22Maybe he could have gotten us Juan Soto instead of getting Juan Soto scooped by the Padres.
03:28And when are the Yankees trying to make deals and they get outmaneuvered by teams like the
03:33Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres?
03:35That's because Steinbrenner's kid is not writing checks.
03:39It's also because Brian Cashman is getting outmaneuvered by other GMs who are better than
03:45him.
03:45He's dropping the ball on this team.
03:48And by the way, if Aaron Judge gets away from this team now because of Brian Cashman's
03:53ineptitude, then this guy is a colossal failure.
03:58That can't happen.
03:59That just can't happen.
04:00Here's my point, though.
04:01That can't happen.
04:01If that happens, it's over.
04:03Was I screaming for Dave Gellman to get fired?
04:05Did I know more about how the Giants should be running their organization than Dave Gellman?
04:09Everyone knew more than Dave Gellman.
04:10No, no, no, no, no.
04:11I was on the radio screaming that Dave Gellman should get fired.
04:14And finally, the Giants realized that he needed to get fired because he's doing a bad job.
04:17It's the same scenario with Brian Cashman.
04:20I have eyeballs and I watch every game.
04:22That's how I know that this team sucks.
04:24And Brian Cashman's lineup is disgusting.
04:27It's awful.
04:28And Cashman should be embarrassed.
04:29What about the first part of the season when they were just doing great?
04:33I didn't hear a single complaint out of you saying, you know, because you're supposed
04:38to be watching every game and be smarter than the GM.
04:41I am smarter than the GM.
04:42And I'm not going to criticize a team when they're 45, 50 games over 500.
04:47But in the long haul, it's 162 games.
04:51A long haul fan would say, hey, we still have problems.
04:54But OK.
04:55162 game season.
04:56I was always hesitant to say to declare this team the best of all time or this or that.
05:01People were saying it's as good as 98.
05:02I'm like, OK, we'll just relax.
05:04162 games has shown that these guys can't hit over 162 game.
05:10IKF.
05:10He got a shortstop that doesn't hit.
05:14He doesn't hit at all.
05:16Listen, you don't have an argument out of me on that.
05:19I'm just saying that I was the one all season saying, hey, keep it up while you can.
05:23There's going to be a dry spell.
05:24There's going to be a dry spell.
05:25I know.
05:26And this this this but this dry spell is more than a dry spell.
05:29It's going to cost the Yankees a championship.
05:31And when they don't win, Aaron Judge will leave this team.
05:35And that is why the Yankee fans like myself are panicked.
05:38We're going to see the best player in baseball walk and go to north and go go back to California
05:44where he's from.
05:45If the money is elsewhere and it will be.
05:48And that's what's going to be.
05:49The Padres and Angels and Dodgers all have money.
05:52The guys from California and they've shown propensity to give people ridiculous 45 million
05:58dollar contracts and Hal Steinbrenner hasn't.
06:00That is what is going to make him walk.
06:02I don't think losing it, not winning a championship is going to make him walk.
06:06That's all about that.
06:06Yeah, I think when you win a championship, you are your heart usually sticks with the
06:11team.
06:12Like it would be a huge thing if you won a championship.
06:15I think he'll take his ring and say, thanks a lot.
06:17There's more money in San Diego anyway.
06:19Well, I don't know.
06:21I think whoever comes up with a bigger check gets this guy.
06:23Yeah.
06:23And I wouldn't be surprised if it's the guys across the street in the other in the
06:27other stadium.
06:28This has.
06:29So, by the way, this was a Brian Cashman failure because Aaron Judge had been wanting to negotiate
06:36this before the season and then said, if we don't get it done, Cashman, I am going to
06:41test the free agency market.
06:43That's another failure on Brian Cashman who didn't get a deal done before this season.
06:48That I agree with.
06:49This guy sucks.
06:50The rest of the sports, you know, he sucks.
06:53The rest of the sports, the rest of the sports is happening.
06:56Pretty good.
06:56Pretty good history.
06:58I mean, what?
06:58What?
06:59I mean, when's the last time he won a World Series?
07:01Well, give me the year.
07:03I'm not going to defend his complete, you know.
07:07Do you know when he won the championship?
07:09Oh, nine, right?
07:09Yes.
07:10So, all right.
07:11That's 13 years in the New York market.
07:14You can't have 13 years of ineptitude.
07:16How many all rings does he have?
07:18He's done pretty well, right?
07:20He got one in 09.
07:21He got a couple in the late 90s with a team he inherited.
07:25Inherited, right?
07:26He had nothing to do with that team.
07:28So, Brian Cashman didn't do the late 90s Yankees.
07:31Bob Gibson started that and Stick Michael started that.
07:34Yeah.
07:34The two GMs before Cashman signed everybody.
07:37Stick Michael and Bob Gibson set up the late 90s Yankees.
07:39He doesn't get credit for that.
07:40He gets credit for 09.
07:42That was his team.
07:43Yeah.
07:43But that's my point.
07:44What happened to that Brian Cashman that went out and got a CeCe Sabathia, Mark Teixeira, and A.J. Burnett?
07:50What happened to that guy who got three?
07:51He lost his checkbook.
07:54He lost his check?
07:56Then he needs to be a stronger guy with Hal and say, Hal, listen, if you want to win and get the Yankee fans off your back,
08:01the old man would spend money.
08:03You need to spend money.
08:04I don't know.
08:05It's not working for me.
08:06The guy can't sign anybody.
08:08He hasn't made a real great signing in quite some time.
08:12The thing I'll give him credit for was Matt Carpenter.
08:15Matt Carpenter was the one that I said, well, that was impressive because other teams could have gotten Matt Carpenter.
08:21He was a free agent.
08:22They took a flyer on him, and Carpenter has had an incredible season, although now Carpenter broke his foot.
08:28He won't be back until late September.
08:29But that was one that I was impressed with.
08:33But he's out thinking.
08:35There were five superstars.
08:37They'll come back.
08:37This sort of thing happens, right?
08:39We've been saying it all season long.
08:41They're going to hit a slump, and they'll come out of the slump.
08:45Why is Josh Donaldson playing third base?
08:47He can't hit.
08:48Just put DJ LeMayhew there.
08:50Also, with IKF, the shortstop, he can't hit.
08:53And, you know, you used to be able to say, well, that's the coach's fault.
08:55But, you know, a lot of those decisions are being told, are being handed down to him.
08:59Well, yeah.
08:59I mean, well, the thing is, it was Cashman who brought IKF and Donaldson onto this team this year.
09:05Both guys have not hit at all.
09:06And IKF doesn't have a reputation forever being a hitter.
09:09Meanwhile, there were five superstar offensive free agent shortstops this year.
09:13Again, in the offseason, we didn't get one of them.
09:16We were, we, we, Cashman was happy to think he can outsmart baseball by getting a guy who
09:21hits 265 with one home run.
09:24The whole year.
09:25He's played every game.
09:27He's got one homer.
09:28When all I'm saying is when this, when these guys get up in October, don't expect success magically.
09:34That's not how baseball works.
09:35Thoroughly.
09:36I thoroughly agree because the postseason pitching is a hell of a lot better than regular.
09:40So how are they going to score runs?
09:42I don't know.
09:42That is the position Brian Cashman has put us in.
09:47This is what I've been saying all, all the season long.
09:48Cashman has put us in this spot and I'm furious at him.
09:52And that is your not so quick look experience.
09:54Yeah.
09:54I mean, the Mets lost, the Phillies won, the Giants is staying, the Zach Wilson, he got
10:03a surgery.
10:04It's like, he's all right.
10:05I don't have a clue what we're talking about here.
10:06Not a damn clue.
10:08Why don't you chime in?
10:09It's World According to God's on a Wednesday.
10:10What do you think about Brian Cashman and the Yankees?
10:12The beer prices are too high at Yankee Stadium.
10:15Amen.
10:15The hot dog prices are too high.
10:17That's it.
10:18What are your thoughts?
10:19My thoughts are, we should discuss this more over at Kelly's Bar right now.
10:23It's Billiton.
10:25What am I looking for?
