00:00Okay, well, we're going to start with baseball where it was a nice day at Yankee Stadium for a change.
00:05The Yanks finally got a win over the Blue Jays on Paul O'Neill Day.
00:10It was a great day yesterday.
00:13Watched all of the festivities beginning at 1230.
00:17O'Neill was very well given a beautiful tribute.
00:22Number was retired.
00:24All the Yankee legends from the 90s, minus Derek Jeter, were there.
00:28It was very cool.
00:30And then the Yankees went out there, and it looked like they were going to choke.
00:33Nestor Cortez had a 2-1 lead.
00:35He was brilliant as always, but the bullpen gave up a run late and had 2-2.
00:41And things going south, new Yankee Andrew Benintendi had his biggest hit thus far as a Bronx Bomber.
00:49Benintendi hit a tie-breaking two-run home run that was the ultimate game winner.
00:54And the Yanks won it 4-2.
00:55And they now improved to 74-48, eight games in front of the Blue Jays and the Rays for first place in the AL East.
01:04So it was a good day overall.
01:06Nice to get Benintendi to do a little something to help the team out finally.
01:10It was a rough, rough, rough—I mean, this is a rough stretch for the Yankees.
01:15It's still a really, really rough stretch.
01:17They ended up losing, you know, three out of four to Toronto.
01:21That's right.
01:22And so things are tight right now, but at least they got that win.
01:25And if they—because they had blown victories on Mariano Rivera Retirement Day.
01:30They had blown a victory this year on Old Timers Day.
01:33Like, these were automatic days where the Yankees—especially if they were winning.
01:37Really nice to win those days.
01:39They always won those games.
01:41And now we face Scherzer tonight, right?
01:43Yes, the Yankees and Mets play tonight.
01:44But first, with the Mets, they and the Phillies had a slugfest yesterday in a fun game that saw the Mets come out on top.
01:53Final score, Mets 10, Phillies 9.
01:56Mets scored three runs in the top of the ninth in order to secure that victory.
02:00Mark Cancana hit two home runs for the Mets.
02:04And Brandon Nimmo also homered in the victory.
02:07Edwin Diaz closed it out for the Mets to pick up his 28th save of the season.
02:11The Mets are now 79-44 and lead the Braves by four games in the NL East.
02:18The Phillies drop to 66-55.
02:22They're still in the third and final National League wildcard spot.
02:28And yeah, tonight, the Yankees and Mets in a bit of a mini-Subway series.
02:33We get these two-game Subway series these days, which is kind of interesting.
02:37I like the three games, you know, but whatever.
02:39You get the two games and it's Max Scherzer versus Domingo Hermann tonight at 7-0-5 at Yankee Stadium.
02:47Yankees got their work cut out for them.
02:49No question.
02:50Max Scherzer is a future Hall of Famer.
02:52Over to football.
02:53We had some preseason activity last night.
02:55Giants beat the Bengals 25-22.
03:00Daniel Jones looked pretty good.
03:02I mean, he was 14-16.
03:04That's excellent.
03:05That's great.
03:06But he did have one interception, no touchdowns.
03:10We don't, he needs to not turn the ball over this year.
03:13It's very important.
03:14But still, the Giants are technically 2-0.
03:17It's preseason.
03:18It doesn't really matter.
03:20But nevertheless, I'll take winning football over crappy, bad football that we saw under Joe Judge.
03:26No question about it.
03:27The Eagles took down the Browns 21-20.
03:31And the Jets take on the Falcons this evening at MetLife Stadium.
03:36And more football news.
03:38And this is an interesting story.
03:39Daniel White, the UFC president, because he's like Mr. Las Vegas, says he was personally involved two years ago in trying to get Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski to the Raiders.
03:51The Raiders, Gronk and Brady wanted to go to the Raiders.
03:55And John Gruden, the head coach, wanted them at first, but then had reservations and squashed the whole deal.
04:03Just got nervous.
04:04Maybe that Brady was too old.
04:06Interesting.
04:06Yeah.
04:08Football would have been different.
04:10Went on to win a World's Heroes.
04:12Went on to win a Super Bowl.
04:13Super Bowl on that trade, right?
04:14Absolutely.
04:15I mean, Brady, yeah.
04:17Brady won the Super Bowl in Tampa.
04:18So, it's kind of crazy.
04:20And then finally, basketball, LeBron James and Dwayne Wade will produce a new documentary on the 2008 United States men's basketball team that was called the Redeem Team.
04:35Because this is the team that had to restore American dominance after the U.S. lost in the 2004 Olympics.
04:43And that was its total embarrassment.
04:45The team was acting poorly in the Olympic Village.
04:49And then they go out and they don't win the gold medal.
04:522008, though, was the Redeem Team.
04:54And that docu-series will debut on Netflix on October 7th.
04:59That's your Quick Look at Sports.
