00:00Eastside, Dave. Dave and sports like chocolate and peanut butter. What do we got?
00:07Okay, let's start with baseball where it will be a long and cold winter for the Mets.
00:12The Mets have been eliminated from the playoffs, shockingly, by the San Diego Padres.
00:19The Mets lost game three last night at Citi Field, 6-0.
00:24The Mets line up completely dominated and shut down by Padres starter Joe Musgrove,
00:30who through seven innings gave up no runs.
00:33The Padres pitching only gave up one hit in the whole game.
00:37Wow, that is tragic.
00:39The Mets were completely dominated.
00:41Manny Machado, Juan Soto each had a couple of hits for San Diego.
00:47Remember when we wanted them as Yankees?
00:49Remember when I was here on this show asking for Manny Machado and Juan Soto as Yankees?
00:53But nevertheless, Manny Machado and Juan Soto are not Yankees.
00:56They're Padres, and they just beat the Mets.
00:59They will now take on, the Padres will take on the Dodgers in the next round,
01:04which is the divisional round.
01:05That's three out of five game series.
01:08The Mets have been eliminated in a bad way.
01:11A huge lead throughout the year, and then the Atlanta Braves chipped away and chipped away.
01:17Still, the Mets were in control of their own destiny coming to the end of the season that last weekend
01:22where they had three games against Atlanta, and they allowed themselves to be swept,
01:27and that's when the choking began.
01:29That was bad news on that weekend.
01:32And I'm sorry to say it.
01:33It's even worse this weekend.
01:34You get three games at home, you got to win two.
01:36No go.
01:37And I know that Mets fans are feeling low this morning, and I'm sorry to say it.
01:41But, you know.
01:41No, you're not.
01:41When the Yankees, no, listen, when Brian Cashman sucks, I call him out.
01:45When Dave Gellman, who was my general manager, I call him out.
01:49The Mets fans should be calling out why your players choke each and every year since 1986.
01:54They do.
01:54They have first place runs every year, and every year they do choke like dogs.
02:02And you need to figure out how to get team leaders.
02:05I don't know if it's get a free agent veteran who's won championships and says,
02:10guys, I know how to win championships and get us through these hard times.
02:14I don't know what you do, but there's always that thing that they choke every year.
02:18My guess is that the Mets fans will be saying we need more bats
02:22because they seem to put so much of their emphasis on getting, you know, great pitching.
02:28And it usually, it seems like, at least in the postseason, pitching is what does it for you.
02:34Yeah, well, Scherzer, they weren't banking on Scherzer having a choke job in game one.
02:38They got, that's for damn sure.
02:39That's what happened.
02:40And because DeGrom pitched well in game two, and they won that one.
02:43Yeah.
02:44But I was concerned about Chris.
02:46But they also got hits in game two.
02:48And I was concerned about Chris Bassett, and I called it on the show today,
02:51or last week, that I didn't have faith in him.
02:54And he went out and he absolutely got destroyed.
02:57He got destroyed by Manny Machado and Juan Soto,
02:59who just ruined the whole entire night for these guys.
03:02So, I mean, it's nice to make the wild card, but it sucks to lose in the wild card.
03:06That's for sure.
03:07And that's why that divisional win, and especially a top two seed these days,
03:12you know, is huge because that gets you that buy.
03:15And at least you get the three out of five game series to begin your postseason
03:19rather than the two out of three.
03:21Meanwhile, the Phillies actually upset the Cardinals.
03:24The Cardinals had all three of the playoff games in their building,
03:27but the Phillies went out there and won on Friday and Saturday.
03:32And so the Phillies have defeated St. Louis in two straight games,
03:35and they will advance in the postseason as the Phillies take on the Braves.
03:39So congrats to Philly.
03:41Now, Tuesday, all the baseball resumes.
03:44Yankees, their matchup is against Cleveland.
03:48They're going to be playing the Guardians at 7.37 p.m.
03:52Garrett Cole will get the start for the Yankees,
03:55and hopefully he can honestly look at what happened in game one with Max Scherzer
04:00and say, this can't happen to me.
04:02Hopefully it doesn't flash back to what his wild card performance was last year.
04:06Can't happen to him.
04:07He's got to go out there and get some wins, and the Yankees need to.
04:11Cleveland's a good team, don't get me wrong,
04:13and Terry Francona's a fantastic manager,
04:16but I still think on paper the Yankees are the better team.
04:18Football, a big day for the local NFL teams.
04:22Everybody won.
04:23First, the Giants upset the Packers in London on a Sunday morning
04:28in which the G-Men came from behind to beat Green Bay 27-22.
04:33The Giants outplayed the Packers 17-2 in the second half,
04:38and that two points was an intentional safety.
04:42So pretty much they shut him out in the second half.
04:45Daniel Jones played well, throwing for 217 yards.
04:48No interceptions, running for 37.
04:50Saquon Barkley rushed for 70 yards on just 13 carries with a touchdown.
04:54And the Giants defense shut down Aaron Rodgers at the end of the game
04:58when it mattered.
04:58They had a ton of shots, Aaron Rodgers did,
05:01with the ball at, you know, second and goal, third and goal,
05:04fourth and goal, and the Giants shut him down.
05:06Got nothing.
05:07Giants improved to 4-1.
05:09Wow.
05:10This team looks totally different than the previous regime.
05:14Thank God we have new people in here.
05:164-1 is stunning for the Giants.
05:19That's great.
05:20And even beyond the numbers, it's simply the eye test.
05:24The way they're playing football is just so much better than it has been
05:28in the last six years under the nightmare, which was the Gettleman regime.
05:33Meanwhile, the Jets destroyed the Dolphins yesterday, 40-17.
05:37I did not see that coming.
05:38Jet QB, Zach Wilson threw for 210 yards, no picks.
05:43Jet running back, Brees Hall, had a good day.
05:4594 yards on the ground and a touchdown.
05:48And the Jets are over .500 at 3-2.
05:51I'll take it.
05:52And the Eagles, they remain undefeated as the Eagles beat the Cardinals
05:57in a close game yesterday.
05:58Eagles 20, Cardinals 17.
05:59Arizona had a chance to tie the game at the end, but missed a field goal.
06:04Eagles are the only undefeated team in the NFL, 5-0.
06:09That's incredible.
06:10Hockey one day away from the NFL season beginning in North America.
06:14The Rangers play tomorrow.
06:17The Devils and Flyers debut on Thursday.
06:20Basketball, Draymond Green is stepping away from the Golden State Warriors
06:24for a few days after TMZ released footage of him punching teammate Jordan Poole
06:30during practice last week.
06:31We covered the story, he punched Jordan Poole, he apologized,
06:36but we didn't see the footage.
06:37The footage is pretty vicious.
06:39He just straight up, I mean, knocks this guy out.
06:43This guy loses all of his, you know, his body, his limbs.
06:47He goes down like a sack of potatoes.
06:49Yeah, he goes down hard.
06:49Lights were turned out.
06:51So go check that out.
06:53We're about.
