00:00I want to know if Pete Alonzo dinged enough home runs.
00:03He didn't.
00:04The polar bear choked on ice and the penguins ate him up as Washington Nationals outfielder
00:11Juan Soto won the home run derby last night.
00:15This is the same Juan Soto, by the way, who recently turned down a 15-year extension worth
00:24$440 million because he hates playing for the Nationals.
00:30Right now, that much.
00:31They stink that badly.
00:32There is a strong rumor that the Yankees and Mets are both looking at Soto.
00:39This guy put on a show last night in the home run derby.
00:42Hitting from the left side.
00:44Power, unbelievable.
00:4523 years old.
00:48Hey, listen, Pete Alonzo won two in a row, but he wasn't able to capture the third.
00:52He did get to the semifinals.
00:55Okay.
00:55So I know Mindy, she's a very loyal Morning Rat Race fan.
01:00She's a great listener and supporter of Rat Rock Nation.
01:02Always brings your dog to bark in the park.
01:05So Mindy, just for you, with regards to Pete Alonzo, I'm glad that he choked like the dog
01:11that he is.
01:11Choked on a big chunk of ice.
01:13There it goes.
01:14The polar bear sunk to the bottom of the Arctic and choked the way the Mets are going to choke
01:18the NL East this year.
01:20And trust me on this.
01:21I guarantee you the Atlanta Braves win the NL East to win that division because Pete,
01:27this guy choking so badly in the home run derby, to me, is an indicator of what's to come
01:34for the Mets in the second half of the 2022 season.
01:37Do you feel that little pinch?
01:38In your face, Mindy.
01:39Do you feel that pinch in the back of your neck?
01:41That's another pin going in the Davey Mack voodoo doll that Mindy has.
01:44It's funny.
01:45Mindy tries to get me with a pin, but I stab her right in the back.
01:49In the heart.
01:49With a knife.
01:52So that's the thing with the home run derby.
01:54Tonight is the all-star game itself.
01:57And you got plenty of Yankees, plenty of Mets, plenty of Phillies.
02:01I mean, honestly, all three teams doing well.
02:03The Yankees have the best record in baseball.
02:06The Mets are basically 20 games over 500.
02:08And after an atrocious start, the Phillies are over 500 and are in wild card contention.
02:13One thing of note, locally, it's the first time the Yankees will have starting outfielders
02:20in Aaron Judge and John Carlos Stanton since Ricky Henderson and Dave Winfield did it for
02:26the Yankees in the 80s.
02:28Wow, cool.
02:29So that's a unique thing.
02:31And I was surprised by that stat.
02:32I thought that Bernie Williams and Paul O'Neal had started an all-star game together at least
02:40once or twice.
02:41But no dice, huh?
02:42I mean, they had certainly made all-star teams plenty of times.
02:46I guess they just didn't start together.
02:49Basketball James Harden is saying he'll do whatever it takes to win a title with the Philadelphia
02:5376ers going so far as to tell the Philly front office, sign whoever you need to sign and give
03:00me the money that's left over.
03:01So right now, Harden saying the right things.
03:04Football LA Rams defensive lineman Bobby Brown has been suspended by the NFL for the first
03:08six games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
03:14And finally, golf.
03:16And kind of a weird one, the Saudi Arabian Live Tour.
03:20That's the very controversial golf tour in Saudi Arabia.
03:24They just signed David Faraday now.
03:27Now, he's not even a golfer.
03:29Like, I understand Phil Mickelson and some of these superstars, but Faraday is, you know,
03:34he's a funny kind of, you know, humorous golf announcer for NBC and the Golf Channel and
03:41other places.
03:42And as far as I know, this Lyft thing doesn't even have a network deal.
03:47They don't even have a channel on American television.
03:50They're not on the golf channel?
03:51I think they might be get to YouTube, but no, they're not on the golf channel either.
03:55So if you're a commentator, I'm not sure this is the greatest.
04:00I don't think you're going up.
04:01I don't think going from NBC in America to Saudi Arabia to the...
04:08What's he being paid, Dave?
04:09It's coming down to the money.
04:11I don't have the actual stat, but it says billions and billions and billions of dollars.
04:17Boatload.
04:18You're right.
