00:00Eastside Davis, Quick Sports, you're pretty excited.
00:02Well, yeah, he finally has done it.
00:04Aaron Judge has tied Roger Maris with 61 home runs in a single season.
00:12He hit one out in the seventh inning last night in the Yankees' 8-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.
00:20In fact, when Judge hit the home run out of the game, it was typical Judge.
00:25The game was actually tied late, 3-3.
00:28Yankees and Jays were knotted up, and then Judge stepped to the plate with a man on first,
00:34and bam, hit number 61.
00:37Look at that, huh?
00:39Into the history books, into the record books by tying Roger Maris for the most home runs
00:46in American League history in a single season.
00:50Pretty exciting after a seven-game drought or eight, whatever it was.
00:54He was on a drought.
00:55His mom was there.
00:57Roger Maris Jr. was there.
00:59Beautiful event.
01:00Give credit to the Toronto fans.
01:03They actually gave him a standing ovation.
01:06They sort of paused the game a little bit.
01:08You know, they weren't going to straight up stop the game and everything like that because it's not the record.
01:13Well, it is the record, but it's not his own record.
01:16Not a new record.
01:17And it was also in Toronto.
01:18But they did give him a good hand, and they finally pitched to him.
01:23I mean, for crying out loud, on Tuesday night, they walked him four times.
01:27Four times.
01:27I know.
01:28I mean, and they've been walking him a lot lately.
01:30And finally, last night, the guy looked like, you know what, I'm just going to throw him fastballs.
01:34Look at that.
01:35Because sometimes, especially in baseball, they just don't understand that sometimes moments are bigger than the game.
01:44Who was the pitcher who gave it up to him?
01:46I don't know.
01:47Some Toronto schmizbo whose name.
01:48Yeah.
01:49That's why I said just pitch to him.
01:51Because it's, you know, not a big deal.
01:53You think 62 is going to happen before the end of the season?
01:56Oh, yes.
01:57Yes, I do.
01:57He's got three games.
01:59He's got the Baltimore Orioles coming into Yankee Stadium this weekend.
02:04Now's the time to buy a bleacher creature seat, huh?
02:07No question.
02:07If you're, and the Orioles are better this year.
02:10But nevertheless, he's not intimidated by the Baltimore Orioles.
02:13And I think that Aaron Judge hits that 62nd home run sometime this weekend.
02:18It might happen Friday night, Saturday, or Sunday.
02:20I don't know.
02:21Question.
02:21What happened to the ball for 61?
02:24Who got that?
02:24Caught by a Blue Jays pitcher in the bullpen.
02:28Oh, the pitcher's in the way outfield.
02:30It got into the bullpen.
02:31Okay.
02:31Yeah.
02:32It did.
02:32He hit the ball.
02:34It left his bat at 117 miles an hour.
02:39He absolutely tattooed the baseball.
02:42Just crushed it.
02:43But it wasn't a high and far, you know, Aaron Judge home run.
02:47Like, we've seen him.
02:47I was at a game where he hit one 495 feet.
02:53It was the longest home run.
02:54And this was like three years ago.
02:56It wasn't of that variety.
02:57But it was a shot.
02:59Did the person who ended up with the ball give it back?
03:02Or is he going to sell it?
03:03I don't know.
03:04But he's a pitcher for the Blue Jays.
03:07I would assume he's going to give it to the Yankees and give it to Judge.
03:09Okay.
03:10I would assume so.
03:11Hey, man.
03:11If I catch 62, if I end up with that, I'm in the bleachers for the game.
03:15Oh, yeah.
03:16So I heard a story the other day.
03:18It's going to be right off the bat.
03:19It's going to be worth 2 million bucks.
03:21Everyone is giving it back.
03:23Well, the guy who caught Judge's 60th home run gave it back to him.
03:27And then remember, the guy who caught Derek Jeter's 3,000th hit, which was a home run,
03:33he gave that back to him.
03:34I'm sorry.
03:34Everyone's giving it back to him.
03:35Have you seen the price of a box of cereal these days?
03:38I ain't giving that back.
03:39I would bargain.
03:40I would absolutely bargain.
03:42I'd say the Yankees, look, 250K means nothing to you guys.
03:46Going right to Steiner Sports.
03:48And I'm saying, let's put this bad boy up for auction.
03:50I mean, just give me, here's what I would say.
03:53I want $250,000 Yankee tickets for the rest of my life.
03:58And I think that's pretty good.
04:00I would like to meet all of the Yankees.
04:02And I definitely want to play some of them in like Mario Kart and things like that.
04:08And then once you fulfill all those obligations, then I'll give you the ball.
04:11I want 2.5.
04:12That's what I want.
04:132.5.
04:14Yeah, that's right.
04:16Wow.
04:17That's what I want.
04:18The Mets defeated the Marlins.
04:20So congratulations, Aaron Judge.
04:22Unbelievable.
04:23Tying Roger Maris.
04:24And how about that number 61?
04:26Roger Maris hit 61 home runs in 1961.
04:29And then Judge hits his 61st home run 61 years later after Maris hit 61 in 1961.
04:38That's freaky.
04:39A lot of 61.
04:39A lot of 61.
04:41And you know what I'm going to do?
04:42Go home and watch Billy Crystal's movie.
04:4461.
04:4461.
04:45There you go.
04:46The Mets defeated the Marlins in extra innings 5-4.
04:50The Phillies fell to the Cubs 4-2.
04:53NFL Week 4 kicks off this evening with Thursday Night Football.
04:57And we have a pretty good game.
04:58The Dolphins at 3-0 taking on the Bengals at 1-2 in Cincinnati.
05:05Tua and the Dolphins have looked like one of the best teams in the league.
05:08Early on.
05:09And Joe Burrow and the Bengals trying to get back to their Super Bowl glory.
05:15Obviously making the Super Bowl last year.
05:17And this year they lost their first two games.
05:19But they did get a win last week over the Jets.
05:23So we'll see what happens there.
05:25More trouble for legendary Packers quarterback Brett Favre.
05:27ESPN is reporting that Favre's charity now donated $130,000 to his former college to their athletic foundation.
05:41And this is why he's already in trouble.
05:44Favre apparently has been accused of rerouting $5 million from Mississippi State Welfare Aid to build a volleyball court.
05:53Another $2 million to build a practice facility.
05:56But this might be the most egregious.
05:58This is from his charity which is supposed to donate all of their money to children with disabilities and women battling breast cancer.
06:07And so he is taking $130,000 from that.
06:11This guy was like a working class hero.
06:14And then he kind of became a douchebag with that I'm retiring and I'm not retiring thing.
06:19And now he's just going to end up in jail.
06:21And there's the intimate pick scandal when he was on the Jets.
06:25The only famous thing that happened with Brett Favre on the Jets was that pick scandal.
06:30That's it.
06:30That was just jail time.
06:31If he ends up not in jail, I'll be shocked from this welfare thing.
06:36It's nuts.
06:37And then finally, LeBron James, Draymond Green, and Kevin Love are buying a professional team.
06:43But it's not going to be in the NBA.
06:46It's a professional pickleball team.
06:48Apparently, Major League Pickleball gets some traction.
06:51They've expanded from 12 to 16 teams.
06:54The look I'm giving you is called the reckless eyeball, David.
06:57Well, LeBron looks.
06:59Professional pickleball.
07:00Okay.
07:00Now, I got friends who love pickleball.
07:03Oh, I see.
07:04I never see people playing tennis on tennis courts anymore.
07:07On like a Saturday morning, you only see people playing pickleball.
07:10I don't think I'm going to be watching any pickleball on ESPN anytime soon.
07:14But I will say this, not to judge LeBron too much.
07:18The other two guys, yeah, go ahead and buy your little pickleball team.
07:21You guys aren't like the major stars.
07:22I mean, these guys are all stars, Draymond Green and Kevin Love.
07:25But they're not a transcendent guy like LeBron.
07:28Don't you think it's a little beneath LeBron to be getting a pickleball team?
07:31Michael Jordan bought an NBA team.
07:34Derek Jeter bought a baseball team.
07:36Like the megastars of their sports are buying.
07:39You know, like A-Rod just bought a piece of the Minnesota Timberwolves basketball pressure.
07:45I agree wholeheartedly.
07:46LeBron, this doesn't fit his brand.
07:50Yeah, it's weird.
07:51You know, it fits Kevin Love's brand because, you know, 10% of the sports fans in America,
07:56even though Kevin Love is.
07:57It's weird.
07:58No one cares if he buys pickleball, but LeBron, I would have thought LeBron's like,
08:02his next move was buying the Lakers.
08:03And he certainly has the cash to do that.
08:06Yeah.
08:06So what the hell, man?
08:07I thought he was going to do something like that.
08:08Unless maybe one of his kids loves to play pickleball.
08:11That's the only thing I could say.
08:12Yeah, I bought this thing for my kid.
08:13Oh, Bronny James loves to play basketball.
08:15We know this because LeBron wants to play with him in L.A.
08:18We know this because LeBron wants to play with him in L.A.
