Transcript
00:00A short time ago, the White House holding a rare and very welcome morning press briefing touting one of the president's signature successes securing the border.
00:08The administration says the change in immigration policy could not be clearer as we inch closer to Trump's 100th day in office.
00:15We're just 24 hours away. Welcome to a brand new hour of America's Newsroom. I'm Dana Perrine.
00:20Morning to you. I hope the weekend was grand. Grand. I joined Fox and Friends this weekend on Saturday.
00:26It's good action, right? With Martha and Jonathan. We had a mariachi band. You never brought a mariachi band in here, have you?
00:34Not yet. No, but we're thinking one more thing, maybe. I'm Bill Hemmer. Good morning.
00:39Hope you had a great weekend. That accomplishment that Dana just mentioned reflected in a brand new poll.
00:44A solid majority, 55 percent approving of President Trump's performance on Border Security and the press secretary, Caroline Levitt, in an early morning press conference.
00:53One that we have really not seen in some time, if ever. She's saying that Trump lived up to his word from the campaign.
01:02President Trump's central campaign promises was to secure the border and end this invasion.
01:07In just under 100 days, 99 now to be exact, the president has overwhelmingly delivered on that promise.
01:14America's borders are now secure because of President Trump.
01:18He has restored the rule of law, enforced our immigration laws and defended America's sovereignty.
01:24The results have been nothing short of extraordinary.
01:27They are going to fly this flag. Peter Ducey live by the White House beginning a new hour and how the administration is highlighting the crackdown.
01:33And Peter, good morning there.
01:34Good morning, Bill. This week of the 100th day is all about sending messages.
01:40That is what the 100 ice arrest mugshots behind us on the North Lawn are all about.
01:45And that is what the arrest of a Milwaukee County judge is all about.
01:49It's a message to others in the judicial system about what could happen if they try to help illegal immigrants skirt enforcement.
01:58Would you ever arrest somebody higher up on the judicial food chain, like a federal judge or even a Supreme Court justice?
02:07That's a hypothetical question.
02:09Again, I defer you to the Department of Justice for individuals that they are looking at or individual cases.
02:14Anyone who is breaking the law or obstructing federal law enforcement officials from doing their jobs is putting themselves at risk of being prosecuted.
02:23Absolutely.
02:23We've also got a new update on the daring theft of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem's purse at a D.C. restaurant containing $3,000 and personal effects by a man believed to be in the country illegally.
02:38I don't have the criminal history, but I know the one who stole the purse is supposedly in the country illegally.
02:43But, you know, picked the wrong purse and steal a purse from him.
02:46Tom Homan also said that we have been talking for years about illegal immigrants in this country being somewhere in the neighborhood of 12 million.
02:57He thinks the number now is more like 20 million with 700,000 or so having criminal histories.
03:04Bill.
03:05OK, Peter, thank you.
03:06Lead a new hour there on the North Lawn.
03:08Peter Ducey.
03:09Thanks for that.
03:09Beautiful day in D.C.
03:11Let's bring in outnumbered co-host and Fox News contributor Kayleigh McEnany.
03:14So good to have you.
03:15So it's not just Republicans that are supportive of the president's actions.
03:18Here's Congress.
03:21Congressman Cuellar, he's a Democrat from Texas.
03:25People were saying our parents came in the legal way.
03:29They came in, became legal residents and they and they came in and did it right way.
03:33But when you see people jumping in, not knowing who they are, that's something wrong.
03:38So that was from his town hall.
03:40That's what he saw.
03:40And we'll just ask the control room to put up on the board here the numbers and the comparison.
03:45From Biden to Trump.
03:46And as you reflect on that first 99 days, just the stark contrast.
03:50This was a rather interesting number.
03:52And Caroline shared this today.
03:53Bill Malusian had obtained it a few weeks ago as well.
03:56And I know President Trump.
03:57President Trump's like, who are the nine people who were released during my tenure?
04:01Because he's a perfectionist.
04:03This is their top issue.
04:04And they know it.
04:05When you look at any poll, the Washington Post poll just out, 52% say their deportation has been just right or not enough.
04:13We all saw the CNN poll from two weeks ago that 56% of the country wants all illegal immigrants deported.
04:20That is an enormous number.
04:22And that's not some.
04:22They're saying all.
04:24So this is a top issue for them.
04:25They know it.
04:26They're touting it.
04:27It is very smart to do so.
04:28And Henry Cuellar getting on board.
04:30It's unsurprising.
04:30He's one of the more moderate Democrats who said, hey, I want to get on the winning train on this issue.
04:35Border District 2.
04:36Yes.
04:37Got a bit on the right side of that.
04:39The Republican side of the issue for some time.
04:42The resistance is not quite a capital R yet.
04:46But people like J.B. Pritzker out of Illinois are trying to make it so.
04:49He was in New Hampshire.
04:51Focus on New Hampshire now.
04:53Already?
04:54Yeah.
04:54On Sunday.
04:55Never before in my life have I called for mass protests for mobilization.
05:01For disruption.
05:02But I am now.
05:03These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace.
05:08They have to understand that we will fight their cruelty with every megaphone and microphone that we have.
05:14We must castigate them on the soapbox and then punish them at the ballot box.
05:20K2H Elon Musk responded on an X with one word.
05:23He said crazy.
05:25That from Musk.
05:26What do you think, Kayleigh?
05:27So Pritzker went on to say, listen to these lines.
05:29He says that one day the portraits of Republicans will be in a museum reserved for tyrants and traitors.
05:36He went on to say we'll never join Republicans in the special place in hell reserved for quizlings and cowards.
05:41So tepid rhetoric, right?
05:43Not at all.
05:44He is positioning self in the lane to cater to the far left.
05:47The most eye-opening poll I've seen.
05:49I'm sure he's looking at this.
05:51There was an NBC poll from April 2017.
05:54So one year into Trump's first term.
05:5633% of Democrats said we do not want you to work with Trump even if that means not getting things done.
06:02That number one year into Trump's term now is 65% who say we don't want you working with Trump.
06:08That's the NBC poll, even if it means not getting things done.
06:12So the resistance in the left of the party is enormous.
06:15It's powerful.
06:16It's passionate.
06:17It's animating people like Pritzker perhaps too much.
06:19So last week we were showing the poll numbers that said that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, she was sort of on the rise for that left wing part.
06:27But would she have, I mean this is all so hypothetical, but would she have competition from a Pritzker?
06:32I don't know about a Pritzker.
06:33I mean he doesn't quite have the name ID.
06:35She's got personality.
06:36But hey, you get these hot and powerful lines on the debate stage, they can make a difference.
06:40But I put Pritzker in kind of the same category as like a Chris Christie on the right.
06:44Chris Christie is very good on his feet.
06:46Sharp arguer.
06:47He has the lines, but it just didn't quite translate.
06:50I think his language is kind of alarming.
06:52I mean a lot of people consider him to be a low-key kind of.
06:55Oh no, I don't know.
06:57That guy's for a low-key billionaire out of Chicago, right?
07:00He said, never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption.
07:06But I am now.
07:07These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace.
07:09Yeah.
07:10Is that what we're in for?
07:11I was in rural Illinois this weekend.
07:13So the redder part of the state.
07:15They know their governor.
07:16They know he's hot.
07:18They know he's prone to this kind of rhetoric.
07:20But that is what we're in for.
07:21I mean I think you're looking at a Democratic primary.
07:23That kind of language is going to be what you see on the debate stage.
07:26All right.
07:26Maybe not from a Newsom or Whitmer, but definitely from a president.
07:29But we have a few years to get to.
07:30We do.
07:31Haley, thanks.
07:32Have a great day.
07:32It's good to see you.
07:33See you at noon.
07:34Thanks.
07:34All right.
07:34Let's move now to the resistance and the judiciary.
07:37So there's growing fallout after a federal judge in Wisconsin allegedly tries to interfere with the arrest of an illegal immigrant, President Trump, slamming her actions while on his way back to Washington last night.
07:48I think the whole thing is horrible with judges with what's going on and they shouldn't be doing that.
07:54That's very dangerous territory.
07:56And we have to be able to do what I ran on.
07:59I ran on a campaign of taking criminals out of our country, murderers, drug dealers, people that are insane.
08:06Garrett Tenney live in Milwaukee.
08:08Hi, Garrett.
08:10Yeah, Dana, good morning to you.
08:12These are the back doors that an illegal immigrant allegedly used to get out of the courthouse and evade.
08:18You need to arrest with the help of a judge.
08:22Ten days ago, federal agents came to the Milwaukee County Courthouse to arrest Eduardo Flores Ruiz, a Mexican national who had reentered the country illegally after being deported in 2013.
08:33And he was facing battery charges for allegedly beating his roommate and his roommate's girlfriend last month.
08:39When Judge Hannah Dugan found out ICE agents were waiting outside her courtroom to arrest the man, witnesses say she was visibly angry and left the bench and went out into the hallway to confront the agents and told them they needed to go talk to the chief judge.
08:54According to the criminal complaint, after the judge went back into her courtroom, as Mr. Flores Ruiz and his attorney were leaving, quote,
09:01The courtroom deputy then saw Judge Dugan get up and heard Judge Dugan say something like, wait, come with me.
09:08Despite having been advised of the administrative warrant for the arrest of Flores Ruiz, Judge Dugan then escorted Flores Ruiz and his counsel out of the courtroom through the jury door, which leads to a non-public area of the courthouse.
09:21That is an exit that's typically only used for deputies and juries.
09:26Now, agents eventually arrested Flores Ruiz outside the courthouse, but Judge Dugan is now facing charges for obstructing immigration officers and concealing a person to prevent arrest.
09:36Her arrest sparked protests on Friday and over the weekend, including this one outside the FBI's office in Milwaukee.
09:43We are out here today with a message for the FBI, for the DOJ, for President Trump himself.
09:51And that message is, drop the charges, stop the raids, stop the deportations.
09:59The Trump administration says this arrest sends a strong message and may just be the first of many.
10:06I can't believe there's any elected official, and especially a judge, that doesn't believe we should be doing that and they should be helping us.
10:12I've said this a thousand times.
10:14When you cross that line to impediment or knowingly harboring concealing an illegal alien of mice, you will be prosecuted, judge or not.
10:25Judge Dugan's attorney says she will vigorously defend herself starting at her next to court appearance on May 15th.
10:31Dana?
10:32All right, we'll check it out.
10:33Garrett Tenney, thank you.
10:34Still, they are back at it.
10:43Ugly scene on Sunday outside of a synagogue in Brooklyn, New York.
10:47Anti-Israel protesters getting rowdy and claiming and came to blows with police officers there.
10:54Demonstrators rallying against a scheduled speech by the Israeli security minister, which ended up being canceled.
11:00So maybe they were successful with their voices, huh?
11:03At least one person arrested in that in Brooklyn on Sunday.
11:07Now this from this morning.
11:09During the Biden administration, they received 170 911 calls to that club alone.
11:16That club we were just watching, 170 calls.
11:19Wouldn't you think that would have been a red flag?
11:21Wouldn't.
11:21Nothing happened.
11:22The Trump administration continues to make good on a campaign promise as federal agents round up more than 100 illegal immigrants at an underground nightclub in Colorado.
11:31Also, President Trump remaining open to a possible diplomatic answer with Iran while issuing a strong warning on what could happen if a deal falls apart.
11:41And Senator Adam Schiff is telling Democrats to get it together as polls show the party's favorability just continues to tank.
11:47If the cashier in South San Francisco at 10 o'clock at night believes that Democrats are a***** because the shampoo is locked up and my stuff got stolen out of the trunk, we've got a major problem that we have to address.
12:02People and federal authorities team up to make hundreds of migrant arrests in Florida.
12:09Operation Tidal Wave leading to the capture of nearly 800 illegal migrants in the span of just four days.
12:15Florida law enforcement working hand in hand with ICE to get the job done.
12:19And Governor Ron DeSantis praising the joint endeavor on X saying,
12:22Florida is leading the nation in active cooperation with the Trump administration for immigration enforcement and deportation operations.
12:32This is something else.
12:47And this video goes on and on.
12:49This is 3 a.m. Sunday morning, Colorado Springs.
12:53In the end, there are about 300 people inside.
12:55About 100 said to be illegal arrested over the weekend.
12:58Massive multi-agency raid at this underground nightclub.
13:02Rob Murphy is the principal deputy administrator of the DEA, which led the operation.
13:06And Rob, good morning to you.
13:08Nothing good happens at 3 a.m.
13:10I want to read you the president's post on X.
13:14I want you to tell us everything we need to know.
13:16Here we go.
13:16Big raid last night.
13:17Some of the worst people illegally in our country.
13:19Drug dealers, murderers, other violent criminals of all shapes and sizes.
13:23And judges don't want to send them back to where they came from.
13:26If we don't win this battle at the Supreme Court, our country as we know it is finished.
13:30It will be a crime ridden mess.
13:32Make America great again.
13:33End quote.
13:34Rob, take me to Colorado Springs.
13:36What happened?
13:38Why the raid?
13:39How was it carried out?
13:40What was the net result?
13:44Good morning, Bill.
13:45And thank you.
13:45Yes, 3 o'clock Sunday morning.
13:49This club was well known to law enforcement.
13:51We had numerous complaints over the last two years.
13:55Violence, everything.
13:57Drug trafficking.
13:57We knew what was going on there.
13:58We expected to find mainly, mostly illegal aliens inside the club.
14:03So there was a planned investigation for over a month.
14:06DEA did surveillance, controlled buys, everything else to develop what we needed.
14:11We knew that there was going to be armed personnel inside, security personnel who were actually active duty military.
14:19So in the playing of this, we have a pretty dangerous operation.
14:22We expected anywhere from 200 to 300 people in that club.
14:25There was over 200.
14:27We showed up pretty strong.
14:28All of our law enforcement partners, DEA, every federal agency, a lot of state and locals.
14:34And we made sure that we were able to contain safely everybody in there.
14:39You know, not everybody was in there doing illegal things, but the majority were.
14:43Resulted in about 115 illegal aliens that we've identified so far.
14:47And there were 17 active duty military, some of which were working at the club as armed security.
14:53Rob, this could have gone sideways.
14:55It's three o'clock in the morning, dark of night.
14:59Your men and women show up armed and you don't know what's inside.
15:04How many members of TDA were arrested or other gang members that were illegal?
15:11We're still working on the exact numbers.
15:14I know we've we've identified at least one Sinaloa cartel member.
15:17There were definitely MS-13 and TDA members.
15:20We're still working on the exact numbers.
15:22You're absolutely right, though, Bill.
15:23This was this was a potentially very dangerous operation.
15:27When we went in, somebody unknown to us sprayed bear spray trying to get prevent or hinder us from doing our operation.
15:34As you can see in the video, people ran in every direction, especially the people that are in there illegally had nothing to lose.
15:40They were going to try to do everything they can to get out of there.
15:43We knew that there was armed active duty military in there providing security that gave a level of caution.
15:49And that's why we showed up with the president.
15:51We had over 300 law enforcement personnel all working towards making this community safe.
15:56And from an operational, tactical operational standpoint, it could not have gone any better.
16:01Well, how'd you keep it quiet?
16:03I wonder if sometimes the word gets out and things leak.
16:05Let me read what Derek Maltz said, acting DEA administrator, said Colorado's ground zero is some of the most violent criminals in America.
16:12The command and control for TDA in the entire United States of America is right here in Colorado.
16:16Why Colorado?
16:18How do you answer that?
16:22You know, I don't know.
16:23I can't answer that.
16:25I mean, listen, they're all over the country.
16:27And it's ground zero where you live if you've got them there.
16:30So our job in law enforcement, we've been tasked of getting these people out of the country.
16:36We have enough homegrown criminals.
16:38We don't need to import any.
16:40And we, since January 20, law enforcement is working day in and day out to get all the, especially the illegal criminal out of the country.
16:47Makes it easier for us than the herd.
16:49And we can get back to doing, you know, making the community safer and working about the ones that are here legally.
16:56Seems to me that the Douglas County Sheriff, Darren Weakley, cooperated in a significant way.
17:02He did.
17:02Is that right?
17:03He did.
17:04And he was very vocal about it.
17:05Yeah, he did.
17:06And he was very vocal about it.
17:08Sir, thanks for coming on.
17:09Rob Murphy, I guess there's more to come.
17:13And when there is, let's hope it goes.
17:15Yeah, it's not over.
17:15We're still.
17:17Yeah, we agree with it.
17:19We agree on that.
17:20And again, men and women are doing everything they can to get these communities safer.
17:24Wow.
17:24Something else.
17:25Rob Murphy, thanks for coming on.
17:26More to come.
17:27We'll see when it happens and see how it goes.
17:29Thank you, sir.
17:32And there's this terrifying moment caught on video.
17:34Racers losing control of a speedboat.
17:37We're going to show you what happened after that.
17:41And Democrats staging a sit-in against President Trump.
17:44Critics are having a field day.
17:47We're in a two-party system right now.
17:49But there were multiple parties.
17:50And what Grant said is, there are but two parties in America right now.
18:00Patriots and Traders.
18:01Police 11 dead, dozens injured after a car plowed into a festival in Vancouver.
18:06It was a party celebrating a Filipino culture.
18:10A suspect is in custody.
18:12Police say he acted alone.
18:13And they're confident that this was not an act of terrorism from Sunday.
18:18Vancouver, British Columbia.
18:20All right.
18:20Almost 1030.
18:22Well, Democrats staged a sit-in yesterday on the steps of the Capitol.
18:25It was a protest against President Trump's big, beautiful bill.
18:29And it's planned $1.5 trillion in spending cuts.
18:32Here's Hakeem Jeffries.
18:34If you work hard and play by the rules, here in America, the wealthiest country in the history of the world,
18:40you should be able to live a comfortable life.
18:43But instead of leaning into that vision of bringing the American dream to life,
18:48this Republican budget is actually doing the exact opposite.
18:51Okay.
18:51Kennedy and Jimmy Fallon are here.
18:53Can I just play a little bit of the singing?
18:55This is wonderful.
18:56This is Jason Kaufman.
18:57Let's listen.
18:58If we build this world from love,
19:03then God will build this world from love.
19:12Kennedy, you are the music critic?
19:15Yeah.
19:16I wish I had a couple of ice picks to jam in my eardrums right now.
19:20That was beyond painful.
19:22It's like, okay, so Democrats have record low polling, and this is their answer?
19:27Like, this is somehow going to coalesce people into moral urgency?
19:32You know, this is their big idea?
19:34You know, people, they're worried about how tariffs are going to affect what they can afford.
19:38And this is the big offering from Democrats?
19:41I haven't seen a sit-in this underwhelming since my daughter's middle school trip to D.C.
19:48when a couple of the kids got food poisoning and had to stay back at the Holiday Inn Express.
19:53Love it.
19:54So, I know this will be a shocker, but President Trump had something to say about this.
19:59Oh.
20:00Get out of here.
20:01Here it is.
20:01I think the Democrats have lost their confidence in the truest sense.
20:04I don't think they know what they're doing.
20:06I think they have no leader.
20:08You know, if you ask me now, I know a lot about the Democratic Party, right?
20:12I can't tell you who their leader is.
20:14I can't tell you that I see anybody on the horizon when asked about that in the New Atlanta
20:17piece.
20:18I thought they were going to break out in the chorus for I'm Just a Bill.
20:22Sitting here on Capitol Hill.
20:26We didn't even get that.
20:27Didn't get that far.
20:28Because, unfortunately, some Columbia kids chased off the rabbi.
20:31They were like, it was coming, but it didn't land.
20:34Listen, as crazy as this is to say, Trump's take on the Democratic Party, which is, of course,
20:39spot on, looking at the current crop, the sit-ins, the stunts, all the grandstanding, their
20:44best option in 2028 is probably Joe Biden.
20:47Dead or alive, I don't even know.
20:50Do you know who agrees with that?
20:51Yeah, who?
20:52Joe Biden.
20:52Oh, totally.
20:53They still believe it.
20:54Senator Schiff, you know, he described this experience that he had with a Target cashier
21:00a couple years ago.
21:00Watch him here.
21:02The cashier asked me if I want one of those Target bags with a little bullseye on it.
21:08And I said, yes, that Target bag is going to be my luggage for the next two days.
21:12And she asked me what happened.
21:14And I told her and basically said, in not so many words, yeah, Democrats are the cashier
21:19in South San Francisco at 10 o'clock at night believes that Democrats are because the shampoo
21:26is locked up and my stuff got stolen out of the trunk.
21:29We've got a major problem that we have to address.
21:33Well, no time like the present.
21:35It's because of the policies that he and his fellow Democrats in a one-party state have
21:40created.
21:41So cities like San Francisco are unlivable for the few people who are left working there.
21:46They are unsafe getting from their cars into Target.
21:50They have to worry about people coming into the store and committing mass retail theft.
21:55And they know they're the ones who know the working class San Franciscans and Californians.
22:00They know it's politicians like Adam Schiff who have created this climate that has made
22:05their home unlivable.
22:07And shame on him for, you know, finally getting the memo.
22:10It's like, is this the first time he's been at a Target in 10 years?
22:12He says we have to change how we do business in California.
22:15We're going to have to address people's legitimate concerns about crime.
22:19Yeah.
22:19And what's crazy about the story is he's admitting it's an old story.
22:21So he's been sitting on the story, meaning addressing the issue wasn't the priority.
22:26And to the point Kennedy made, this is the end result of a Democrat policy that essentially
22:30tried to create more empathy for the criminal than the victim.
22:34You know what I mean?
22:34When we were growing up, every kid in America played two games, cops and robbers, cowboys and
22:39Elizabeth Warrens.
22:40OK, but we all know in cops and robbers, cops are the good guys.
22:43OK, robbers are the bad guys.
22:46OK, understand what the Democrats tried to do in like a post 2020 world was go.
22:49You got to see it through the criminals point of view.
22:51And that's why California is lawless.
22:53That's why the deodorant is locked up and the criminals are free.
22:55That doesn't make sense.
22:57Little Jimmy Fallon would have known that.
22:59Big Jimmy Fallon.
22:59OK, now Lincoln.
23:01Yeah, thank you.
23:01He's right on it.
23:03He's taller than all of us put together.
23:04Yeah, he's mad.
23:05Certainly.
23:06I mean, you could.
23:07I have to look way, way up to Lincoln.
23:10Great to have you both.
23:11Good to see you.
23:11Happy Monday.
23:13Thank you, Kenny.
23:13Thank you, Jim.
23:14Welcome to a new week.
23:14Day 99.
23:15Let's go.
23:15Here we go.
23:17We should all be happy that we have a president of the United States and Donald J.
23:21Trump who wants to end and prevent wars.
23:23And that's what we're trying to do here.
23:25So the Trump administration trying to hammer out a peace deal as the president wins praise
23:29for his meeting with Zelensky.
23:30This happened at the Vatican on Saturday.
23:33Quite a moment.
23:34Quite an image.
23:35How close is there to an agreement?
23:37Good question.
23:38The U.S. furniture industry now a major player in trade talks with China.
23:42Could the label made in the USA come on now and make a comeback?
23:46Hmm?
23:49Of Arizona.
23:51Check it out.
23:51A speedboat on the water going airborne.
23:55Watch how this thing flies.
23:56I mean, it looks like a paper airplane.
24:08You just go, leave in the air.
24:11Two people on board walked away from that crash.
24:13They were attempting to break a 206 mile an hour speed record.
24:18Experts credit the makers of the boat saying if it had come apart in the air, the outcome
24:22would have been deadly.
24:24You watch this thing over and over, it's just like it lifts up and just keeps on going.
24:29The thing that bothers me about it, when you watch the video, there are other boats in
24:32the water that would, I mean, maybe they knew, maybe they knew what the danger was, but to
24:36me, like that, that's a little bit too close for my comfort.
24:39The other second, the other question I have is why?
24:41Well, if you're going 200 miles an hour, you know, the need, the need for speed and setting
24:45a record.
24:46Look at that thing.
24:47The need for speed and setting a record, I get it, it's ambitious, but you must be buckled
24:53into a cockpit to survive that thing.
24:54They must have been.
24:55Wow.
24:56All right.
24:56Okay.
24:57Arizona.
24:58Whew.
24:58We had your moment.
25:00President Trump's reciprocal tariff policies expected hit very close to home right inside
25:05your living room.
25:06As furniture makers and sellers brace for big changes, and what will that be?
25:11Jerry Willis, High Point Market Furniture Trade Show in North Carolina, where a lot of
25:16it comes from.
25:17And Jerry, what are they saying?
25:19Nice to see you there.
25:22Nice to see you, Bill.
25:23They're saying a lot, let me tell you.
25:25So we are the biggest and the oldest trade show, furniture trade show in the country, High
25:30Point Market, and there's 75,000 retailers.
25:33Also, we've got a ton of interior decorators here.
25:36They're buying furniture, and the talk of the town is tariffs.
25:40Joining me now, Wyatt Bassett.
25:42He's CEO of Vaughn Bassett.
25:44He makes furniture here in this country.
25:47Wyatt, thanks for having us in your showroom.
25:49Really appreciate it.
25:51You're so proud of your product.
25:53I know it's American-made.
25:56What do you make?
25:57What does it mean for your company and the industry that Donald Trump is proposing tariffs
26:01or has put unplaced tariffs on China?
26:03What does it mean?
26:05Well, we started getting calls the day after the tariffs were announced.
26:09We've seen a lot more people here at the High Point Market.
26:12Everybody's asking for the same thing, which is they want to see more American-made product.
26:17Wow, that's great.
26:18Okay, I want to show folks something.
26:19You know, people ask, is all of this 100% American-made, right?
26:24And the answer is, some of it's not.
26:26Help us understand.
26:27Sure.
26:28We make wooden furniture, wooden bedroom furniture.
26:30So all the wooden parts we make here in our factories, that's about 95% of the content.
26:36We're not a metal worker.
26:37So things like the decorative hardware, the drawer guides that go underneath it, those really nice whisper clothes guides.
26:45Love us.
26:45We do have to source those.
26:47Right.
26:47So almost, but not quite.
26:49Like about 3%, 5%?
26:51Yeah, 3% to 5% we have to source, the rest we do here in North Carolina and Virginia.
26:56Well, I'm afraid we're going to have to leave it there.
26:59But thank you so much for showing us all of this, and we really appreciate your help.
27:03As I send it back to you, Bill, I just want to say quickly, for an old North Carolina girl
27:07that had people in her family working in the furniture industry, this is good news.
27:12Bill?
27:13Good to hear.
27:13Okay, Jerry, a handcuff out there.
27:15High points where it's at.
27:17Thank you, Jerry.
27:17Nice to see you in the Tar Heels.
27:19You're welcome.
27:20I think the meeting went well.
27:31We'll see what happens over the next few days.
27:33We'll probably learn a lot.
27:35I was very disappointed that missiles were flying by Russia, but that missiles were flying.
27:41Very disappointing.
27:42We'll see how it goes.
27:43President Trump talking tough after his face-to-face meeting with Zelensky.
27:47The president making it clear he does not approve of Russia's latest strikes on Ukraine amid efforts to reach a peace deal between the two nations.
27:54And while there is no long-term agreement yet, Moscow is announcing a three-day pause next month in its war with Kiev.
28:00Dan Hoffman is a former CIA chief of station and a Fox News contributor.
28:04That ceasefire, the temporary ceasefire that Putin wants is for them to be able to enjoy their holiday.
28:13How do you think this will go down?
28:15This week is a critical one in this discussion.
28:17Yeah, that's right.
28:21Russia celebrates Victory Day on May 9th.
28:23I've been to those celebrations walking the Moscow streets.
28:27And the last thing that Vladimir Putin would want is for them to be interrupted by a Ukrainian drone attack on a Russian military facility, which Ukraine is definitely capable of doing.
28:37Look, Putin, if passed his prologue, regardless, will likely break this ceasefire as he did the Easter ceasefire that he announced a couple of weeks ago.
28:47How important was it for Trump and Zelensky to have that private moment at the Vatican on the sidelines of the Pope's funeral, just the two of them sitting there?
28:57The last time they had been together was in that Oval Office meeting, which, as General Keane reminded us, it's in the past.
29:02Moving forward, Trump basically says to Macron, we're going to have our own private moment here.
29:07I'm sure it was very polite.
29:08But Trump and Zelensky then sitting down face to face, the weight of the world on their shoulders.
29:13That was a really powerful image.
29:18And as you point out, I think very correctly, that it was a reset of President Trump's personal relationship with Ukrainian President Zelensky,
29:27that follow-up from the infamous Oval Office meeting.
29:31And here they are discussing this ongoing war and Vladimir Putin's determination to continue to launch these artillery strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure
29:42and innocent civilians.
29:44And the way out, it looks like, is not going to be to entice Vladimir Putin with economic deals or sanctions relief.
29:51We need to now, I think, show Vladimir Putin that we can bring some pain to Russia.
29:57Not just economic pain, but I think we need to continue to arm Ukraine with what they need to deter Putin from launching future strikes and stop the ongoing.
30:12We need to submit to Russia whatsoever.
30:15Oh
30:45Oh
31:15Oh
31:45Oh
32:15Oh
32:17Oh
32:19Oh
32:23Oh
