00:00It is 7 a.m. on the East Coast. It is Wednesday, April 23rd, and this is Fox and Friends.
00:09It is.
00:10A big raid in New York as Trump's borders are, and New York City's mayor worked together to arrest,
00:17excuse me, 27 people with alleged trendearraguetais. We're going to tell you what else they found.
00:23And a major victory for Maha, Make America Healthy Again supporters, how RFK Jr. is overhauling our food supply.
00:34We have them on the run now, and we are going to win this battle.
00:39And four years from now, we're going to have most of these products off the market,
00:43or you will know about them when you go to the grocery store.
00:46A guy standing right next to RFK, FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty McCary is going to join us with more on that coming up.
00:56Well, it's one high school baseball coach breaking records after brain surgery, how he overcame the odds.
01:02Yep, the second hour of Fox and Friends starts right now.
01:05Remember, your mornings are better because you're watching us, and I ask you to put something on when you do.
01:10President Trump setting the stage for a trade deal with China, as the administration says they could scale back on some of the new tariffs soon.
01:23Hurry. Mark Meredith is at the White House with details.
01:27Mark, have the conversations with China actually started? Because it sounds like things are heading that way.
01:35Steve Inslee and Brian, good morning, friends.
01:36We'll see if the White House was asked yesterday whether or not the president's engaged in a one-on-one talk with President Xi of China,
01:41and the White House not willing to go on the record with that,
01:44an indication that these conversations are still not happening at the most senior levels.
01:48Either way, all three major U.S. stock indexes are set to open sharply higher today,
01:52given some of the news the president and Treasury Secretary made within the last 24 hours,
01:57suggesting that the trade war won't last forever.
02:00As you all three know, there's been a major sell-off on Wall Street ever since the trade war began.
02:04We're doing fine with China. We're doing fine with every, I think, almost every country.
02:10Everybody wants to have involvement with the United States.
02:14A hundred and forty-five percent is very high, and it won't be that high.
02:18We were talking about fentanyl, where, you know, various elements built it up to a hundred and forty-five.
02:24No, it won't be anywhere near that high.
02:26It'll come down substantially, but it won't be zero.
02:29As Fox Businesses learned, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessett also said something similar to investors this week,
02:36that he expects a de-escalation with China in the near future.
02:39Two weeks ago, the White House also pushed pause on imposing sweeping tariffs on almost every U.S. trading partner.
02:45It allowed this pause to allow negotiations to continue.
02:48So far, though, no new trade deals have been signed, and the White House says stay tuned.
02:52I spoke to our entire trade team this morning.
02:56There is a lot of progress being made.
02:57We now have 18 proposals on paper that have been brought to the trade team.
03:02Again, these are proposals on paper that countries have proposed to the Trump administration and to our government.
03:08The other reason we're seeing so much green on Wall Street before the opening bell is the president made the strong suggestion, again,
03:15that he has no plans to fire the Federal Reserve Chairman, Jerome Powell.
03:19Just this week, Trump suggested that Powell should have to leave his post as Federal Reserve Chairman.
03:24His post isn't up until May of next year.
03:26And so there was that suggestion that maybe Trump would try to push him out of the job.
03:30But Trump said last night that he no longer feels that is the case.
03:34But, of course, he wants to see interest rates brought down sooner rather than later.
03:38Steve Ainsley and Brian, back to you guys.
03:40Yeah, the markets seem to like that.
03:42So is there any sense that there will be progress made?
03:45Because Norway comes this week.
03:47Don't they want a trade deal, too?
03:49Well, the White House has been very clear, Brian, that they believe that everybody who's been on that hit list of the different tariffs will want to make a deal at some point.
03:56You had the vice president of India talking about trade as well and how to develop a further U.S.-Indian relationship.
04:02But in terms of actually getting these deals signed, there's a question about timing because they have to be worked out.
04:06It's not that it could just be, you know, written on a napkin and go.
04:09There's a lot of complicated language here.
04:11The White House has said simply that their team is working on it.
04:14But as lawmakers have been talking about, they want to see progress quickly.
04:17All right. Thank you so much, Mark.
04:19This is great news for China.
04:20Scott Bessett was at a J.P. Morgan event in Washington, D.C., talking to investors.
04:24And he says he expects a de-escalation of the trade war between the U.S. and China.
04:28He said no one thinks that the current status quo is sustainable because right now we have the 125 percent reciprocal tariffs on imports from China,
04:36in addition to those 20 percent tariffs on Chinese goods to curb the flow of fentanyl into the United States.
04:41So one of the things that the White House is asking from all the countries is, OK, if you want to make a deal with us,
04:49you've got to make a deal with us that you're not going to deal with China.
04:53And there are a number of countries that are pushing back on that.
04:56In fact, the EU has just come back and they said they will not decouple from China.
05:01They said talks with the United States and relations with China are two distinct matters.
05:06What the president is trying to do is he's trying to get so many people and countries around China to isolate China so that he's got better negotiation,
05:15better leverage with China.
05:17But right now we don't know how many countries are saying, OK, if I have to pick between one or the other, I'll go with the United States.
05:24We don't know how many. That's what China said on Monday.
05:26They said we're going to threaten countries not to do deals with us.
05:30And it hasn't stopped Japan, hasn't stopped South Korea, has not stopped India, obviously hasn't stopped India.
05:37It didn't stop Italy, who feels as though they could spearhead an EU deal.
05:40I think it's really, really encouraging to see things get reconfigured.
05:44But I also don't think we should show any weakness with China.
05:47This is the moment we stare them down.
05:50We have lost a lot of market cap in doing this.
05:53Let's make sure we get what we want in this restructuring.
05:56And one of which they cannot steal intellectual property.
05:58Amazon, two thirds of all their products are or China.
06:01You know, so now they're now standing up.
06:03Now they're worried about their tech center that they suppressed for so long.
06:06Now they're starting to prop up Alibaba.
06:08They rehab Jack Ma.
06:10So now these now they're desperate to try to get their economy going.
06:14I'd hate to think that we in the end we blinked ultimately one company that has reported their earnings.
06:22First quarter earnings yesterday was Tesla and Tesla.
06:25The stock is now up.
06:28But yesterday their net income was announced.
06:30It's down 71 percent.
06:34And Elon Musk even said he admitted that Tesla faced a lot.
06:38But yesterday their net income was announced.
06:40It's down 71 percent.
06:44And Elon Musk even said he admitted that Tesla faced a lot of blowback from his ties to Donald Trump.
06:51And now he's talking and we're going to play a little snippet of it.
06:54He says, you know what, maybe I better go back to the car company because they need me.
07:00Starting probably in next month.
07:04May, um, my time allocation, uh, to do it will drive significantly.
07:11So I think I'll continue to spend, you know, a day or two per week on, um, government matters for as long as the president would like me to do so.
07:23Um, and as long as it is useful.
07:25Uh, but starting next month, um, I'll be allocating, um, far more of my time to Tesla.
07:34And, uh, now that the, the major work, we're just putting in five recent unexpected bumps this year.
07:41Uh, I remain extremely optimistic about the future of the company.
07:46So investors are happy to hear that.
07:49Um, hoping he's going to refocus his efforts on Tesla.
07:52Um, he's saying it's because political sentiment, he thinks in the uncertainty in the automotive and energy markets, but he has some plans coming up.
07:59He's on track to launch this robo taxi business out of Austin, Texas within the next few months.
08:05And then he said the second half of next year has some plans coming up.
08:09He's on track to launch this robo taxi business out of Austin, Texas within the next few months.
08:15And then he said the second half of next year, he's got the Tesla robots rolling out.
08:20And if you see some of this video, uh, the robots are, uh, are more athletic than us.
08:25I mean, they can go down a mountain, they could do a tough mutter.
08:28So, and I, and I need somebody that understands me and I'm hoping that this robot could be one of the people.
08:33That's why when you would watch the Jetsons back in the day, you identified with Rosie.
08:38Right.
08:38Absolutely.
08:39Uh, Rosie, uh, Rosie, the robot.
08:43Was the housekeeper.
08:43Right.
08:43Exactly.
08:44Did a great job.
08:44She had wheels.
08:45She was a robotic housekeeper.
08:46Right.
08:46Didn't she have wheels?
08:47The, uh, absolutely.
08:49Uh, Rosie, uh, Rosie, uh, Rosie, the robot.
08:52Was the housekeeper.
08:53Was the housekeeper.
08:53Right.
08:53Exactly.
08:54Did a great job.
08:55She had wheels.
08:55She was the robotic housekeeper.
08:56Right.
08:56Didn't she have wheels?
08:57The, uh, Swift, remember?
08:59It was Robin.
09:00I don't know her name.
09:01Yeah.
09:01I don't know her name.
09:03Yeah.
09:03It was just a robot.
09:04It had arms like on slinkies.
09:05Danger, danger, Will Robinson.
09:07Yeah.
09:07It was really, it was a Swift.
09:08Remember?
09:09It was Robin.
09:10I don't know her name.
09:11Yeah.
09:12I don't know her name.
09:13Yeah, it was just a robot and it had arms like on slinkies.
09:15Danger, danger, Will Robinson.
09:17Yeah, it was really, it was a bad robot.
09:18Yeah.
09:19It made you not want to, no neck.
09:20Elon did not build that one.
09:22Right, he didn't.
09:22Elon, uh, Tesla did say, uh, one thing about the tariffs yesterday and they said that the
09:28tariffs are making its energy storage business, um, it's, it's impacting them harder because
09:35obviously they need the rare earth, the rare minerals to make the batteries and stuff
09:39like that must told, must even told the president, look, tariffs are a bad idea, but, uh, Musk
09:45also supports the president.
09:47He's got a different vision and they're going through with it.
09:50And it, it's just going to make, uh, making batteries more complicated.
09:53Just no noted member that Elon Musk is going to donate money and Donald Trump is going to
09:57do whatever he wants.
09:58No.
09:58How would let Nick would be the treasury secretary if he had, if you listened to Elon Musk, Elon
10:03Musk didn't want the tariffs, but he respects that he's not the president.
10:06And I would say this, there's got to be like 10 major items for national security that
10:11when this trade war is over, we just have to bring it back and rare earths is another.
10:14We have to be able to refine it.
10:16We'd be able to do it because China will hold this over our heads in any conflict, military
10:22or economic, unless we start doing it ourselves.
10:25Meanwhile, New York city mayor, Eric Adams teaming up with borders are Tom Homan to take
10:30historic action against dozens of suspected trendy Aragua gang members.
10:35Brooke Singman joins us with the latest on this crack.
10:38This is just the tip of the iceberg.
10:40Listen, every member of TDA should be on the run because the Trump administration is committed
10:45to removing every single member of TDA MS-13 from this country.
10:50This country is for those who believe in our rule of law, our principles, and are here to
10:57provide a life for themselves.
10:59It is not a safe haven for criminal behavior.
11:02Authorities revealing during the press conference that over 30 guns were seized from the suspects.
11:08Now, this historic indictment marks the first time the alleged gang members are being hit
11:13with racketeering charges, commonly known as RICO charges, which the government used heavily
11:18to take down the mafia here in New York years ago.
11:21The charges carry the possibility of life in prison and accused the alleged gang members
11:26of conspiring to commit murder, sex trafficking young women, assault, dealing drugs, and more.
11:33Homan saying this crackdown is just what the city needs.
11:38Collaboration works.
11:39It keeps the city of New York safer.
11:41No one can argue.
11:42I don't care what side of the political spectrum you're on.
11:44No one can argue what happened here in the last works.
11:49It keeps the city of New York safer.
11:51No one can argue.
11:52I don't care what side of the political spectrum you're on.
11:55No one can argue what happened here in the last several months that resulted in 27 TDA
12:02being indicted.
12:03No one can argue that doesn't make the streets of New York safer.
12:06As of right now, officials say...
12:08Yeah, thanks so much.
12:10Meanwhile, it's the same tactics used to take down the mob, right?
12:12Yeah.
12:13Yeah, so it's fantastic.
12:14Rudy Giuliani, absolutely.
12:15Yeah, so round them up.
12:16The message is, oh, don't go to New York.
12:18Yeah, thanks so much.
12:20Meanwhile, it's the same tactics used to take down the mob, right?
12:22Yeah.
12:23Yeah, so it's fantastic.
12:24Rudy Giuliani, absolutely.
12:25Yeah, so round them up.
12:26The message is, oh, don't go to New York.
12:28They actually are prosecuting.
12:30We'll round you up and put you in jail.
12:31But then a state judge told Eric Adams,
12:34I'm blocking your administration from allowing ICE agents to go back to Rikers Island.
12:39And he said, I'm not apologizing for taking dangerous, illegal guns off of the street
12:44that are affecting our community.
12:45Right.
12:46But Tom Homan yesterday made the case,
12:48OK, the judge has stopped me from reopening that ICE spot there at Rikers.
12:54And Homan said something really interesting that I hadn't thought about.
12:57And he said, you know, by not opening it, it could put other migrants in jeopardy.
13:02And he went on to explain, you know, when I send the ICE guys out and they go and they're
13:07looking for the worst of the worst gang members, there are always, it seems like these days,
13:12collateral arrests.
13:13Other people who are in the country illegally and wind up the deportation process.
13:18So it's kind of.
13:18It'll be great.
13:19It'll be great to see if they just allow law enforcement and these guys to do their jobs
13:23and don't let the judges get in the way with their all this due process and problems on
13:29raids and lack of cooperation in sanctuary cities.
13:32Meanwhile, they just got a leading Indian terrorist.
13:36They also picked up here.
13:37So when you start looking for some, you get some others.
13:40It's working.
13:41Meanwhile, talk about working.
13:43Carly Shipkis is working.
13:44Good morning to you guys.
13:45Good morning.
13:45Certainly.
13:46And as are all of you.
13:47And I got an update to give you here.
13:48When you start looking for some, you get some others.
13:50It's working.
13:51Meanwhile, talk about working.
13:53Carly Shipkis is working.
13:54Good morning to you guys.
13:55Good morning.
13:55Certainly.
13:56And as are all of you.
13:57And I got an update to give you here.
13:58The U.S. will be discussing peace plans with Ukrainian and European officials today ahead
14:03of Special Envoy Steve Witkoff's trip to Russia.
14:06It's something we plan to speak with U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce about
14:11later this morning.
14:12She will be joining us in just a bit.
14:14Attorney General Pam Bondi hosting Trump cabinet members yesterday for the inaugural meeting of the
14:20task force to eradicate anti-Christian bias in the federal government, arguing that Christians
14:25were unfairly targeted for their religious beliefs under the previous administration.
14:31Pro-life Christians were arrested and imprisoned for peacefully praying outside abortion clinics.
14:37The FBI spied on traditional Catholics in their parishes.
14:41President Biden declared Easter Sunday to be Transgender Day of Visibility.
14:49The task force was first established under an executive order signed by President Trump.
14:54The Supreme Court signaling it may rule in favor of a group of parents that sue us in the
14:59case as well.
14:59We hope the Supreme Court will do the right thing and the president has been very clear.
15:04He stands on the side of parental rights and he believes strongly that parents should have
15:08a greater say in their children's education and the content, if you will, that children
15:13are being exposed to in our public school system.
15:16A ruling is due by the end of June.
15:18A greater say in their children's education and the content, if you will, that children are
15:23being exposed to in our public school system.
15:26A ruling is due by the end of June.
15:28So you don't steal baby meets.
15:32Oh, girl, this got to be bad.
15:35Well, the meet now has a clasp that only employees can unlock and would trigger an alarm at exits.
15:42They joined major retailers like Walgreens and Target that lock products away to prevent
15:47theft.
15:48This is the story of my life.
15:51You can't go anywhere without having to call somebody over from a supermarket or a drugstore
15:57saying, can you unlock this cabinet for me, especially for the expensive things like
16:00the meat or the razors or the.
16:03Yes, but everything now is under lock and key.
16:06Everything over about 15 bucks.
16:08See, the headline for me, because I watched the whole TikTok, is that Walmart has tomahawk
16:14steaks and I have seen them there.
16:16They're about 35 bucks.
16:18We've had them.
16:18They're delicious.
16:19Are we allowed to say tomahawk?
16:21Does that insult anybody?
16:22Right.
16:22Right.
16:23I do.
16:23That's what they're called.
16:24Should I say acts like?
16:26You can't say to Massapego.
16:27Right.
16:27You can't say to Massapego.
16:28Do you eat those really?
16:30You can, those massive ones.
16:32Yeah.
16:32There are about two pounds of meat on it.
16:34Well, probably a pound of meat and a pound of bone, but it's so cool looking when you're
16:40grilling it.
16:41Could be a good weapon.
16:42It's about 35 bucks.
16:44All right.
16:45At Walmart.
16:45RFK Jr.
16:46Delivering.
16:48But it's so cool looking when you're grilling it.
16:51Could be a good weapon.
16:52It's about 35 bucks.
16:54All right.
16:55At Walmart.
16:55RFK Jr.
16:56Delivering a major victory for the Make America Healthy Again movement.
17:01If they want to eat petroleum, they should put it in their food themselves at home.
17:06They shouldn't be feeding it to Americans.
17:10FDA Commissioner Marty Macari is going to join us in the east.
17:14Now to a Fox wildfire alert.
17:16Massive flames breaking out in the southern part of New Jersey, scorching more than 8,500
17:20acres overnight.
17:22There you see images from Barnegat Township.
17:25Thousands of people have lost their power and have been forced to evacuate their homes
17:28as the flames are only about 10% contained.
17:32At least 17 miles to the Garden State Parkway forced to shut down.
17:36The New Jersey Forest Fire Service will hold a press conference to tell us the status at
17:4111 o'clock this morning.
17:42Let's check in with meteorologist Adam Klutz for our Fox weather forecast.
17:46Adam, I live in New Jersey.
17:47When I got up this morning, it was breezy.
17:50And that does not help those fires.
17:52No, it does not at all, Steve.
17:53Beautiful weather yesterday across this entire region.
17:56Beautiful again today.
17:57Unfortunately, with that beauty, we've got the wind.
18:00We've got really dry conditions.
18:02And that's all part of the story here.
18:03Let's dive right into it.
18:04You're seeing that 8,500 square acre, 8,500 acres there that's been dealt with.
18:10At this point, only 10% contained.
18:12That was lit yesterday.
18:14A little bit after noon yesterday.
18:16So really, it has grown very quickly, largely because of that wind.
18:19Now, the wind was more intense yesterday.
18:21It was fairly intense last night.
18:23It is going to wind down today.
18:24You're looking at a forecasted high, again, of 71 degrees, mostly sunny.
18:28Winds now to 5 to 10 miles an hour.
18:29But there is no moisture out there.
18:31The humidity is low.
18:32The chance of rain is zero.
18:34And we're not going to look for a chance of rain really increasing until the time you
18:37get to the weekend.
18:38So we've got days of really dry conditions.
18:41The good news is the winds are going to stay a little bit calmer.
18:43On Saturday, that's when the next big rainmaker moves in.
18:46That comes with thunderstorms and with a little bit of lightning.
18:49Unfortunately, that obviously could cause more wildfires.
18:52Here's what it looks like across the rest of the country.
18:54That rain in Texas, ultimately, that's going to be the energy that moves along the East Coast
18:58and maybe brings a little bit of rain.
19:00Those are your weather headlines for now.
19:01I think Ainsley, I'll be tossing it back inside you.
19:03Yes, you are.
19:04Thank you so much, Adam.
19:05The Trump administration announcing a new plan to phase out eight artificial dyes from
19:11the American food supply by the end of next year.
19:15We have them on the run now and we are going to win this battle.
19:19And four years from now, we're going to have most of these products off the market or you
19:25will know about them when you go to the grocery store.
19:28Our next guest stood alongside HHS Secretary RFK Jr.
19:32during Tuesday's announcement calling out the harmful artificial ingredients some U.S.
19:38companies are using in our foods.
19:40FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty McCary joins us now.
19:43Good morning to you, Commissioner and Doctor.
19:46Good morning, Ainsley.
19:46Good morning.
19:47This is such exciting news.
19:48So you guys are saying by the end of next year, how are you going to force these companies
19:52or does Congress have to act or is this just a recommendation?
19:56Well, Ainsley, you're right.
19:57This is exciting news for America's children.
20:00This was a promise by the Trump administration and issued Secretary Kennedy as champion.
20:06And this week we are delivering on that promise.
20:08The FDA announced that we're taking action to remove eight artificial petrochemical food
20:15dyes from the U.S. food supply.
20:16And the companies have been cooperative.
20:19They want to see these chemicals removed from the food supply as well.
20:22They don't want to have a competitive disadvantage with other companies and they want a national
20:28standard and a time frame.
20:29So we offered that.
20:31They don't want to deal with a patchwork of laws and bills in 30 different states as we
20:36have right now.
20:36They want a national standard.
20:38So the FDA made this announcement yesterday to provide clarity.
20:42Dr. McCary, what does it mean for adults?
20:44I know this is great for our children because they won't be ingesting this as long as we all
20:48have.
20:48But for the adults that are watching, what is this doing to our bodies, all of these
20:52dyes?
20:53Well, these dyes have been associated with obesity and diabetes.
20:57They've been associated with attention deficit disorder, hormone disruption.
21:01And as a doctor, I think of it this way.
21:04When we've got a surging epidemic of all of these chronic conditions and no good explanation
21:10as to why, don't we want to err on the side of safety?
21:14These are petroleum-based chemicals.
21:16Nobody would think it's reasonable to do a randomized trial where you inject half the
21:20kids in the trial with crude oil to see whether or not it's good for you.
21:24You're exactly right.
21:25In 2010, the food corporations in Europe, they had to take these dyes out of their food.
21:30What have they seen in Europe over the course of the last 15 years?
21:34Well, first of all, they have much lower rates of chronic disease.
21:37When they removed and have not allowed actually from the get-go artificial food dyes, we've
21:42not seen a difference in prices.
21:44So it does not make a difference in terms of food prices.
21:48And we are asking, as an administration, American food companies to remove these petroleum-based
21:55food chemicals and replace them with natural ingredients for American kids, just as they
21:59have already done for kids in Europe and Canada.
22:02That's a pretty simple request.
22:04And remember, Democrat, independent, Republican moms came out and voted for President Trump
22:09on this very issue.
22:11So we're delivering on it.
22:12Will the food taste as good?
22:16These artificial petroleum-based food diet chemicals have no taste whatsoever and no nutritional
22:22value.
22:23So why put them in our foods?
22:24Is it just to color the foods?
22:25It's simply for the color of the food.
22:28And studies have shown that these vibrant colors actually mess with the mind of a developing
22:34child.
22:34And sometimes they'll seek eating more of this ultra-processed food, even when they feel full.
22:41And that may help explain at least one piece of this toxic soup that is messing up the health
22:47of our nation's children.
22:48Dr. McCurry, Kellogg's released this statement.
22:51This is excellent.
22:52They said, we look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with government.
22:56We recently met with Health and Human Services Secretary Kennedy and had a very constructive
23:01conversation.
23:02We understand the agency's priority for more simple foods, and we are pleased to share that
23:07we are already taking action in this area.
23:09We will continue to make our foods even simpler.
23:12So what are they doing?
23:13They said they're taking action.
23:16Yeah, they have been very cooperative.
23:19I've been impressed with Kellogg's, with Pepsi, with so many of the companies my staff has
23:24met with.
23:25And they simply want a national standard.
23:27I think they've got kids, too.
23:30And now that we realize what these petrochemical food dyes might be doing, it's great to see
23:36the altruism and the sort of unity around this issue.
23:38Remember, food companies are not bad.
23:41They have good people, and they did exactly what the government asked them to do 70 years
23:45ago, and that is focus on mass production.
23:47Now that we are seeing the complications of chronic diseases from some of these ingredients,
23:52we've got to pause and re-pivot.
23:54Howard, what are the plans now for the fast food industry?
23:57Because I know when RFK Jr. was running, he said he really focused on, let's say, French
24:02fries.
24:02He said, I just want the talon fat, I want salt, and I want potatoes in our French fries.
24:08What's the latest on that?
24:09Well, what I love about Secretary Kennedy is he wants to try fresh new approaches and bring
24:14in new ideas.
24:15The same old beat people down for eating bad food approach is not working, and I don't
24:22believe that obesity is a willpower problem when we talk about childhood obesity.
24:27ADHD is not a genetic problem.
24:29This is because of the ingredients.
24:31So we believe in taking incremental steps to address some of these ingredients and start
24:36seeing small modifications that people can make in a stepwise fashion as we educate them
24:43with good information, not the broken misinformation food pyramid that was written by the industry,
24:49but good information about what's really good whole food.
24:52Commissioner, thank you so much for coming on this morning.
24:55We appreciate it.
24:56Thanks, Ainsley.
24:56You're welcome.
24:57A new poll showing who Democratic voters are favoring the most and whose popularity is
25:03sinking, what this could mean for the future of the party.
25:06Plus, cardinals are set to meet today in Vatican City as the world mourns the loss of Pope Francis.
25:12We will have a live report next.
25:14At St. Peter's Basilica, where Pope Francis is currently lying in state as people are flocking
25:23to the Vatican to pay their respects.
25:25Alice Hogan is live at Vatican City with the latest.
25:29Hey, Alex.
25:31Hi, Ainsley.
25:33Pope Francis returning to the St. Peter's Basilica behind me for the final time this morning.
25:38Cardinals carried out the ritual ceremony of transferring his body to where it will lie in state for three
25:43days ahead of his funeral.
25:45The procession included cardinals, priests, and members of the Swiss Guard who walked the casket
25:50from the chapel of Casa Santa Marta, his residence, to St. Peter's.
25:55The procession passed through St. Peter's Square.
26:02In life, the 88-year-old Pope often rejected wealth and materialism.
26:06Pope Francis...
26:07In life, the 88-year-old Pope often rejected wealth and materialism.
26:16Pope Francis...
26:17...to the ground, facing the pews.
26:19Normally, the Pope's body is placed in three wooden coffins.
26:23Francis opted for a simplified wooden coffin with a zinc coffin inside.
26:27Instead of the typical detailed inscriptions on his tomb, he wanted only one word inscribed,
26:33as the faithful watched the solemn and moving ceremony from around the world, people are
26:39pouring into St. Peter's after lining up for hours outside of the Vatican.
26:43Members of the Vatican were able to say their goodbyes on Monday evening, the day that he
26:48died.
26:49And later this evening, cardinals will gather once again to continue planning many of the
26:53details surrounding his funeral and the conclave to come.
26:57Steve?
26:58Alex, thank you very much.
26:59Live from the Vatican.
26:59Meanwhile, this morning, bad news for Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, as a new poll shows
27:05he is getting beaten quite handily by far-left squad member AOC.
27:11So what does that mean for the future of the Democratic Party?
27:14Well, I got the perfect guest right now, Democratic strategist and former Clinton advisor and pollster
27:20Doug Schoen joins us right now.
27:22Hey, Doug, good morning.
27:23Good morning.
27:24We got a poll.
27:25We're going to put it up.
27:26AOC is much more popular than former Clinton advisor and pollster Doug Schoen joins us right
27:31now.
27:32Hey, Doug, good morning.
27:33Good morning.
27:34We got a poll.
27:35We're going to put it up.
27:36AOC is much more popular than Chuck Schumer.
27:39Why is it that the Democrats want somebody who's a little further left than the guy that's
27:47you're all reliable?
27:48Well, because the party, my party, has moved so far to the left, both in reaction to Donald
27:56Trump's first term and now the second term, that there's anger.
28:00There's a desire also for a new generation of leadership, which AOC reflects.
28:07And Chuck Schumer has been in politics, I think, since about 1978 or 80.
28:13That's many, many years, 40 odd years.
28:16And I think there's a desire for a change.
28:19He is a master politician.
28:20I don't count him out.
28:22But AOC could be a presidential candidate in 2026 or could run against Senator Schumer.
28:28She's formidable in either role.
28:30Surely.
28:31And so, Doug.
29:10Oh, my God.
29:40I don't know.
30:10I don't know.
30:40I don't know.
30:47I don't know.
30:48I don't know.
30:50I don't know.
30:52I don't know.
30:54I don't know.
30:56I don't know.
