00:00These nine people are dead after a vehicle plowed into a Filipino street festival in Vancouver, Canada.
00:05Police say the driver is in custody and that they're not considering the incident as an act of terrorism.
00:11We'll have more on this story as we get it.
00:14A separate Wisconsin judge is now threatening to cancel court and brought up the possibility of raising her own bail money
00:20in protest of federal authorities arresting fellow judge Hannah Dugan.
00:24Welcome to Fox News Live. I'm Rich Edson.
00:26Judge Dugan is facing two felony charges including concealing an individual to prevent discovery and arrest
00:32that individual, an illegal immigrant who is facing misdemeanor battery charges.
00:37Caroline Levitt is live with the latest reaction. Hi, Caroline.
00:42Hi, Rich. Right now we are seeing another Wisconsin judge now wanting to join in on the protest.
00:48Circuit Court Judge Monica Esham is threatening to not hold court in protest of Judge Dugan's arrest.
00:55So we have that email right here obtained by Wisconsin right now, and it's titled guidance requested or I refuse to hold court.
01:04The email says, quote, I have no intention of allowing anyone to be taken out of my courtroom by ICE
01:11and sent to a concentration camp, especially without due process.
01:15The email goes on to say, should I start raising bail money and, quote, if this costs me my job or gets me arrested,
01:23then at least I know I did the right thing.
01:26Now, yesterday, protests broke out in front of the FBI office in St. Francis, Wisconsin,
01:31with protesters demanding the FBI drop the charges against Judge Hannah Dugan.
01:37Judge Dugan is facing obstruction charges after investigators say she helped an undocumented migrant
01:55evade ICE agents in the courthouse, forcing agents to chase him down the street.
02:00Now, that Mexican migrant has been deported before, and he's facing battery charges.
02:06The DHS assistant secretary tells us the Trump administration will not allow judges to act like this.
02:13We are going to continue to go after these activist judges, especially in such egregious cases like this.
02:20Since President Trump took office, we've seen these activist judges trying to subvert the will of the American people.
02:27And the mandate that President Trump was given on November 5th, 2024.
02:32But this is just beyond the pale.
02:34And there's also reports that Wisconsin Republicans are also considering whether they should act
02:39and remove Judge Dugan from her position.
02:42Rich.
02:43Caroline Elliott live for us today. Caroline, thank you.
02:46ICE says it has apprehended nearly 800 illegal migrants in Florida
02:50in what law enforcement calls a first-of-its-kind partnership between local and federal agencies.
02:56Christina Coleman is here to break down this operation.
02:59Christina.
03:00Hi, Rich.
03:01Yes, nearly 800 illegal immigrants were arrested during the first four days of Operation Tidal Wave,
03:06a massive joint effort involving ICE and Florida law enforcement agencies to crack down on illegal immigration.
03:14Fox obtained photos of some of the arrests.
03:16Authorities say they include a Colombian illegal alien convicted of homicide in his home country.
03:22They say he entered the U.S. as a gotaway.
03:24They also say they arrested a Honduran illegal alien who is known or a suspected terrorist member of the 18th street gang
03:32who illegally reentered the U.S. two times.
03:36They also arrested an alleged MS-13 gang member from Guatemala who illegally reentered the U.S. three times,
03:43in addition to a Russian illegal alien who they say is wanted in Russia for vehicular manslaughter.
03:49Now, these all add to the other arrests of alleged criminal aliens throughout the country since President Trump took office
03:55and pledged to launch an unprecedented crackdown on illegal immigration and crime.
04:01Every day I get a report of individuals that we have arrested in this country and gotten out
04:06that have been perpetuating violence against our communities and endangering families.
04:10Today, sexual assault with a child, murder and robbery, bank robbery.
04:17We have an assault with a deadly weapon and intent to kill, rape and robbery as well.
04:22President Trump's efforts clearly having an impact.
04:27White House officials say since the president returned to office,
04:30more than 100,000 illegal migrants have been deported and illegal crossings hit a stunning new low in March.
04:37White House officials say between January 20th and April 1st, only nine illegal aliens were released into the U.S.,
04:45a staggering 99 percent decrease from the more than 184,000 released into the country
04:52under the Biden administration during the very same period last year.
04:57Rich?
04:58Christina Coleman live for us today.
04:59Christina, thank you.
05:01For more reaction on this and the apprehension of the Wisconsin judge accused of obstructing ICE,
05:06let's bring in North Carolina Democratic Congressman Don Davis.
05:09Congressman, thanks for joining us this afternoon.
05:12Do you agree what the judge did here?
05:15Let me say, hey, I want to be clear in my personal and official capacity, I would cooperate with ICE.
05:23I believe that's what we should do.
05:25I don't know all the details as the details continue to develop, the facts come out.
05:30I believe those facts should indeed be applied to the law and that we should have the fair rule of law take its course here.
05:39This is what the Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer had to say about it this weekend.
05:42I don't believe ICE or anything they say because they've made up things so many times in the past.
05:51This is a constitutional crisis.
05:53You cannot have a democracy without an independent judiciary, and they're trying to clip the wings of that independence.
06:01Congressman, what do you think about these statements about judicial independence when the charges are for something that she did that really has nothing to do in her capacity as a judge?
06:11It's something that she did outside of being an actual judge.
06:15I believe that it's so important as we're looking at the broader immigration system to understand why it exists.
06:23It exists for the assurance that we are upholding public safety.
06:28There shouldn't be any compromises to that.
06:31Again, as the facts take their course and come forth before the public,
06:37I believe the judge, as anyone, should have their fair day in court.
06:42Democrats argued at the time that there were charges against then-former President Trump that nobody's above the law here.
06:49That's what Republicans are now saying in this case, and even some Democrats have joined too.
06:54Do you believe in this case that nobody is above the law?
06:57If you are accused of breaking the law, then you should have your day in court?
06:59I absolutely agree that no one, including myself, is above the law.
07:05Okay.
07:05Oh, you have spent some time on this issue.
07:08You visited a nice detention facility.
07:10Why don't you tell us a little bit about what you saw there, and how do you think your party is doing on this subject?
07:17For far too long, I believe Congress would kick the can down the road on immigration reform,
07:23and there's still a whole lot of work to take place with border security.
07:28I noticed definitely the numbers are coming down, the illegal entries into our country.
07:34At the same time, people back home here in eastern North Carolina, you know,
07:38they are concerned about illegal drugs coming into their community.
07:41They are concerned about crime, and therefore, they're calling for Congress to act,
07:47to take steps to not just stay on the sideline.
07:51So for me, I went on a journey to understand what happens to someone that's supporting in the east.
07:57I started at Alomax County that services eastern North Carolina.
08:01From there, they're transported to Lumpkin to the Stewart Detention Center.
08:07There, I was able to talk to prison or detention administrators as well as detainees.
08:13We went around.
08:14I saw the medical unit, the cafeteria, the holding area,
08:18to actually witness detainees talking to their legal counsel, as well as witness a hearing.
08:27So what I look, did it, I mean, were the conditions terrible?
08:30Were there reasons of, Congresswoman Wilson, for example,
08:34actually, let's listen to what she had to say.
08:36She did a similar tour of these facilities, and this was her response.
08:39So I've been giving out the phone numbers to the House of Representatives and to the Senate.
08:47It's one number.
08:49That number you call, and you threaten it.
08:54And you say, this is wrong.
08:57This is not America.
08:59We need an uprising.
09:01What people are taking to the streets and the phones and writing letters, that's what we do.
09:06Do you agree that what you've seen thus far from your touring these facilities,
09:11that the American people do need an uprising in opposition?
09:14I believe that the time I spent on the ground at Stewart Detention Center, that they were transparent.
09:23I appreciate the opportunity.
09:25They allowed me to move throughout the facility.
09:28What I saw was indeed an increase, according to the administrators of detainees,
09:36and they were managing, managing the flow of the movements.
09:39And from what I saw, again, detainees talking to their council.
09:48But above all, when I spoke to the detainees, I asked the detainees.
09:54Again, those I spoke to tend to believe that the process was being managed.
10:02Okay.
10:02Well, Congressman Don Davis, thanks so much for joining us this afternoon.
10:05I very much appreciate it.
10:09President Trump is back from Rome following his one-on-one meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
10:14That was ahead of Pope Francis' funeral.
10:16The president is also approaching his 100th day in office this week.
10:21Nate Foy is live in Bedminster, New Jersey.
10:24Hi, Nate.
10:24Hey, Rich.
10:26President Donald Trump is spending his day at his Bedminster golf club as he and his administration continue celebrating their successes in immigration enforcement
10:35and selling their tariff plan to the American people.
10:39So the president and first lady arrived here in New Jersey yesterday.
10:42And this happens as the president's poll numbers on the economy have slipped.
10:46But Treasury Secretary Scott Besson says that doesn't tell the full story.
10:52Americans are behaving very different than what the surveys say.
10:55So the surveys may say that, but consumers are still spending.
11:01So I prefer to look at what Americans are doing rather than how they're answering pollsters.
11:06Rich, take a look at this on True Social this morning.
11:10President Trump promoted his tariff strategy, writing, quote,
11:13When tariffs cut in, many people's income taxes will be substantially reduced, maybe even completely eliminated.
11:20Focus will be on people making less than $200,000 a year.
11:24Also, massive numbers of jobs are already being created with new plants and factories currently being built or planned.
11:31It will be a bonanza for America.
11:33The external revenue service is happening.
11:36Meanwhile, Trump is still working to broker a peace deal in the Ukraine-Russia war.
11:40He met privately with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Rome.
11:45And after the meeting, Trump publicly threatened additional sanctions against Russia if Vladimir Putin doesn't move toward peace.
11:52Also in Rome, both President Trump and President Biden attended Pope Francis' funeral.
11:57And Trump used the moment to criticize Biden, posting on True Social
12:01that the Ukraine war would never have started had he been in office.
12:05Also, in an interview published this weekend, President Trump reiterated that he wants to reach a deal with Iran regarding its development of nuclear weapons.
12:15But if diplomacy fails, he will be, quote,
12:17leading the pack into a military conflict with Iran.
12:21We'll send it back to you, Rich.
12:22Nate Foy, live for us in Bedminster.
12:24Nate, thank you.
12:25Joining me now with more GOP reaction to the Wisconsin judge's arrest is the House Freedom Caucus chair, Maryland Congressman Andy Harris.
12:33Congressman Harris, thank you for joining us this afternoon.
12:36Do you think the FBI was right to arrest this judge?
12:38They were 100 percent correct.
12:41The federal law is very clear.
12:43No official law can interfere with the enforcement of federal immigration law.
12:48It's in the U.S. code.
12:49This judge knew full well it's in the U.S. code and should take responsibility for her actions.
12:54What kind of consequences do you think she should face?
12:56She should be a judge anymore.
12:58Do you think that she should face fines, jail time?
13:01No, she absolutely shouldn't be a judge.
13:03The bottom line is she aided and abetted a criminal and became a criminal herself by aiding and abetting that criminal.
13:10So, again, she should be removed from the bench.
13:13And that probably should be the punishment that every judge should get if they do the same thing.
13:17There's an argument there that when you talk about courthouses and apprehending illegal immigrants from courthouses,
13:23you deter them from showing up to their own criminal cases.
13:25You deter them from testifying in criminal cases against other people.
13:29Do you think that courthouses should tread a little differently than other places in the country?
13:35Well, clearly, the reason why ICE has to come to courthouses sometimes is because the prisons don't cooperate with ICE.
13:42And local sheriffs, local jurisdictions, look, they have to catch these illegal immigrant criminals wherever they are.
13:48If they're in a courthouse, it's in a courthouse.
13:50Wherever they are, they should capture them and send them back home.
13:53One of the major initiatives also in the president's first 100 days are all of these tariffs and trade negotiations.
14:00Here's what the Treasury secretary had to say about that.
14:03We have a process in place over the next 90 days to negotiate with them.
14:10Some of those are moving along very well.
14:12Nobody's better at creating this leverage than President Trump.
14:15You know, he's shown these the high tariffs and it's like, here's the stick.
14:22This is where the tariffs can go.
14:24And the carrot is come to us.
14:26Take off your tariffs.
14:27Take off your non-tariff trade barriers.
14:30It's only been a couple of weeks since these negotiations have been ongoing.
14:33But still, we don't have any trade deals announced yet.
14:35There are a lot of countries on this list.
14:37How much time do you think the president has to start completing some of these deals?
14:41Well, we've certainly seen some changes from the foreign countries.
14:46We've had trillions of dollars of investments promised into the United States, bringing jobs back home.
14:51Tens of billions of dollars in the pharmaceutical industry alone, which has, again, left the country to a large extent over the past few decades.
14:59This president is bringing those jobs back.
15:02And I think the reason is because of the threat of tariffs.
15:04You look at some of this recent Fox News polling that we have out on this when it comes to the economy and jobs.
15:09There's some skepticism out there that the tariffs will help the economy, 32 percent, say help, 55 percent, say they will hurt the economy, jobs at 36, hurt at 44 percent.
15:23Do you think that the American people have the patience to watch this happen?
15:29And, you know, people are losing their jobs.
15:31Are there issues with manufacturers who aren't getting inputs from across from countries around the world?
15:37You know, could this snowball?
15:40I don't think so.
15:41I think what's significant to note is that, yes, some people are losing jobs, but the unemployment rate is basically unchanged.
15:47The fact of the matter is this economy is changing.
15:49The president is bringing jobs back into the United States, again, getting trillions of dollars of investment from overseas companies to build their stuff here.
15:57And that's really, really important for America.
15:59How much of the mix do you think should be not just building items here, but moving manufacturing out of China?
16:07Maybe not some of the less higher tech manufacturing to different countries that we're more aligned with or allied with or as opposed to just bringing all that manufacturing back to the U.S.?
16:17Well, we should bring as much as possible back to the U.S., but if we can't bring it to the U.S., we should bring it to allied countries so that, again, you know, God forbid we have another war or conflict.
16:28We're not at the beck and call of China.
16:32And do you think that there is a way that the United States can work with our allies to do that?
16:37And do these trade negotiations hamper or help that process?
16:41Look, I think they help the process.
16:45I think the United States is still the largest economy in the world.
16:48It's very important to be a trade partner of the United States.
16:50And a part of that deal is either bringing jobs here or not sending some jobs to China.
16:55In the case of some of our trade partners, both of those are valuable in the long run.
16:59All right. Congressman Andy Harris, thanks so much for joining us.
17:03Happening now, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Democratic Senator Cory Booker are hosting a live stream from the steps of the Capitol to protest President Trump and his policies.
17:14They're calling the event an urgent conversation with the American people focused on attacking cuts, tax breaks under the upcoming Republican budget plan.
17:24So if you've gotten your real ID, the deadline is fast approaching and there's growing pushback asking for an extension, another extension.
17:33More on that ahead.
17:36Out into a crowd at a Filipino festival in Vancouver, Canada last night, leaving at least nine people dead and others injured.
17:43Stephanie Bennett is live with more on an arrest made in the case and reaction from the community.
17:48Stephanie.
17:49Hey, Rich. Well, police say they have a 30-year-old man in custody.
17:52He is from Vancouver and they say this incident was not an act of terrorism.
17:57They should be holding another news conference any minute now.
18:00So watching that closely.
18:02But police have confirmed this was a car ramming attack.
18:05It happened shortly after 8 p.m. last night along East 43rd Avenue and Fraser Street.
18:10The vehicle drove through the crowd of people attending the Lapu-Lapu Filipino Heritage Festival.
18:15At least nine people have been killed and more than 20 others are injured.
18:18During a news conference, the interim police chief said this morning that the man was arrested.
18:22After initially being apprehended by bystanders, noting this was known, knowing that he was known to police as well, that he noted.
18:29Now, as the sun rose this morning, revealing the devastation across in the South Vancouver neighborhood,
18:35the suspect's black SUV had a crushed front section just showing the powerful impact.
18:41Bystanders said it all happened within seconds.
18:44They didn't know what was going on as chaos unfolded.
18:48When you are in that kind of situation, it was really shocking.
18:53Like, you couldn't even, you know, think really, really well.
18:58You couldn't do anything but to pray for them.
19:01Of course, this comes ahead of Monday's federal elections.
19:05Prime Minister Mark Carney and other political leaders posted messages expressing shock at the violence.
19:10Carney delaying and canceling some campaign events, and he wrote on X in part,
19:14I offer my deepest condolences to the loved ones of those killed and injured,
19:18to the Filipino-Canadian community, and to everyone in Vancouver.
19:21We are all mourning with you.
19:22He also spoke a short while ago.
19:24Last night, families lost a sister, a brother, a mother, a father, a son, or a daughter.
19:35Those families are living every family's nightmare.
19:39The investigation, of course, is still ongoing, and again, that news conference should be happening any moment now.
19:45Rich?
19:46Stephanie Bennett live for us this afternoon.
19:47Stephanie, thank you.
19:48The Secret Service have reportedly arrested the suspect accused of stealing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's handbag with three grand inside.
19:57U.S. officials say the suspect in custody is reportedly in the country illegally.
20:02Authorities are still looking for a second suspect.
20:04The New York Post reports the suspect in custody is scheduled to appear in court early this week.
20:10After years of delays, there's only a little more than a week left for people to get their real ID
20:17so they can board domestic flights and enter federal government buildings.
20:21Now there's a push to extend the deadline or to allow people to opt out of real ID.
20:27C.B. Cotton is live at LaGuardia Airport in New York.
20:30C.B., 20 years in the making, still not finished yet, moving at the speed of bureaucracy.
20:36C.B. That's right, decades in the making, and people are still not ready.
20:43So, yeah, it's getting warm out, and air travel is picking back up.
20:46And to get ready for these warmer weather months, it's going to include a trip to the DMV to get the real ID
20:52because come May 7, travelers 18 and up will need one to board a domestic flight,
20:59especially if you want to avoid any extra hiccups when you go through security.
21:03But as you mentioned, Rich, there is some growing pushback to this.
21:06Take, for example, over in Kentucky, 28 Republican senators there sent this letter to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem
21:14asking for a delay on real ID enforcement, saying their regional licensing offices will be further strained
21:21and families, senior citizens, rural residents, will face, quote, unnecessary hardship.
21:28You know, people in rural Kentucky and senior citizens is the ones that I'm hearing the most from.
21:35Kentucky is simply not ready for real ID.
21:39We're less than 40 percent compliant.
21:41And then a bipartisan group of lawmakers over in Maine have gone a step further,
21:49proposing a bill to put an end to the real ID program in that state by repealing the law
21:54that permits the state's Bureau of Motor Vehicles to distribute the real ID.
21:59The lawmakers, they are citing privacy concerns.
22:02And then we're going to go to New Jersey, the Garden State.
22:04It's launched a real ID emergency program to help people meet this deadline.
22:10This, after the state's DMV website for weeks, showed zero appointments available on various days for real ID services.
22:18So what is the real ID?
22:20It's a state-issued driver's license that is harder to counterfeit with enhanced security protections
22:25in line with the real ID act passed by Congress in 2005 after the 9-11 terrorist attack.
22:32We caught up with some travelers, and it's a mixed bag on who was prepared for this.
22:38I travel so much, so I got it way in advance.
22:41So I was not dealing with any lines.
22:43When I saw this on the news, I was like, I'm good. I'm ready.
22:45I'm going to use my passport. I'm going to wait until the line slowed down.
22:48I mean, I have my passport, so I'm hoping to use that as long as possible.
22:56So we reached out to the TSA about the growing pushback,
22:59and they say the agency is committing to enforcing this May 7th deadline as directed by Congress,
23:06reminding people that, hey, if you don't get this real ID,
23:09there's an actual possibility that you're going to have holdups here in the airport.
23:13The agency also added that if you are in the country illegally come this deadline,
23:18the only way to board a flight will be if you're self-deporting out of the country.
23:24Rich, back to you.
23:24Okay, deadline around the corner.
23:26C.B. Cotton live for us at LaGuardia Airport in New York.
23:29C.B., thank you.
23:30The U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments this week
23:32in a major case involving what would be the first religious public charter school in the United States.
23:38We'll speak with the Oklahoma State Superintendent coming up next.
23:41The U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments this week in the U.S. Supreme Court in the U.S. Supreme Court in the U.S. Supreme Court.
23:44The U.S. Supreme Court is paying respects to Pope Francis today as his tomb opens to the public
23:48at St. Mary Major Basilica in Rome.
23:51Hundreds of thousands of mourners, along with world leaders,
23:53paid their respects yesterday to Pope Francis at his funeral.
23:57A single white rose was placed on the tomb that says Franciscus, the Pope's name in Latin.
24:02A special mass was also celebrated at St. Peter's Square today by Cardinal Pietro Parolin,
24:06a possible contender to be the next pope.
24:09Well, the Supreme Court will hear arguments this week on what would be the first religious charter school
24:16in the United States in a case that finds the Republican Oklahoma Attorney General at odds with his party.
24:22He says a taxpayer-funded religious public school is unconstitutional.
24:27So let's bring in Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters,
24:29who's on the board that approved the virtual Catholic charter school after initially denying the application.
24:35Mr. Superintendent, thank you for joining us this afternoon.
24:37Tell us about this school and why you think it's a good idea and constitutional.
24:44Well, it's really about two things.
24:46Number one, it's about religious liberty.
24:47The reality is, is there's no separation of church and state in the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence.
24:53That is a lie perpetuated by the left.
24:55So when the Catholic Church has come forward and said,
24:57we want to start a religious charter school that can be a tremendous school for parents across the state,
25:02we of course said yes, we are excited about it.
25:04And the second thing this is about, it's about school choice.
25:07Do parents have the right to choose where their kids go to school or should the government decide that?
25:12President Trump won a massive election on both fronts,
25:15on religious liberty fighting for that and for fighting for school choice.
25:18The country has spoken.
25:20Oklahoma has spoken.
25:21Every county in Oklahoma voted for President Trump now for the third straight time.
25:24We want school choice.
25:25We will protect religious liberty.
25:26We're very excited to lead on this front for the country.
25:29So we're going to have oral arguments across the street in a little way up here
25:32because of the way that the Oklahoma Supreme Court decided this issue.
25:36This was from their ruling.
25:37They said, quote, enforcing the St. Isidore contract would create a slippery slope
25:42and what the framers warned against the destruction of Oklahomans' freedom
25:46to practice religion without fear of governmental intervention.
25:52What do you say to that?
25:54It's completely absurd.
25:55It's ahistorical.
25:56It goes against the Constitution.
25:57And look, our Attorney General, Gittner Drummond, has sided with the left on this case.
26:02He's sided with the teachers union and the radical atheist groups to say,
26:05parents, you don't have these rights.
26:07We want to trample religious liberties because we want to protect a government education system
26:12run by our bureaucracy instead of providing school choice.
26:15It's absurd.
26:16It's anti-Trump.
26:17We're seeing every anti-Trump movement across the country line up to fight against the school.
26:22Our Attorney General and the Supreme Court are way out of step with Oklahomans.
26:25Oklahomans want school choice.
26:27They want to decide this for their kids.
26:29And again, we've got Catholics.
26:30We've got Christians of all backgrounds that are so excited at this opportunity for their kids.
26:35And it's going to improve our educational outcomes.
26:36When he announced the challenge, the Attorney General said, if the Supreme Court sided with what you're saying,
26:43it would open the floodgates and force taxpayers to fund all manner of religious indoctrination,
26:48including radical Islam or even the Church of Satan.
26:52Are you comfortable with a decision that could open the way for giving the power to the Oklahoma State School Board,
26:59but also what about the San Francisco School Board and the Chicago School Board and the Portland School Board?
27:06First of all, our Attorney General is dead wrong on that.
27:08That is completely untrue.
27:09Absolutely not.
27:10We have a clear application process that says you've got to be a successful school.
27:13You've got to be a school that parents want.
27:15You have to have a track record and application there.
27:17And the reality is the Catholic charter school meets everything there.
27:21Again, Satanism isn't a religion.
27:22Look, I know the left tries to act like it is.
27:24It's not.
27:25Satanism is not a religion.
27:26We have other schools that absolutely would not meet this criteria.
27:29The Catholic Church did.
27:31More Christian schools across the country are a good thing.
27:33These are good options for parents.
27:34And again, here in Oklahoma, guess what?
27:36This is what our parents want.
27:38The message the electorate has sent loud and clear, both in the presidential election nationally and in our state,
27:43we want more choice.
27:45We want to break down this ridiculous wall of separation of church and state that is nowhere.
27:50It's nowhere in the Constitution.
27:51So our Attorney General peddles that lie.
27:53The radical left, the ACLU do.
27:56But the reality is Judeo-Christian values have played a major role in American history.
28:01They shaped this country.
28:02And we've got to move away from the Biden-Harris antagonism and attacks on Christianity to bring back the free exercise of the Christian faith.
28:10And that's what we're doing right here in Oklahoma.
28:11If the Supreme Court does decide to allow this school to move forward, how many religious-funded schools from the state of Oklahoma do you expect there could be?
28:22Oh, I think you're going to see an explosion of more Christian schools as options for kids.
28:27Because here's the reality.
28:27We've got great Baptist schools.
28:29We have great non-denominational Christian schools that have been in our state for decades.
28:32As a matter of fact, the Catholic schools, we have some that date back nearly a century.
28:36So we've got a great track record of Christian education here in the state.
28:39And you see it across the country, frankly.
28:41Some of the most successful schools in the country are Catholic schools or Christian schools.
28:45And so what we're doing is providing more opportunities for kids to attend highly successful schools.
28:50And, frankly, we're leaning into the free market.
28:53Let parents decide.
28:54Let the free market decide what options are out there.
28:56And so I think you're going to see a tremendous amount of Christian schools open up here in the state of Oklahoma.
29:00But I think you're going to see this across the country.
29:02This is a necessary step to get education back on track, get the country back on track by protecting religious liberty and stopping the attacks against those of a Christian faith.
29:12Would bringing these century-old Catholic schools or these religious schools under the government, wouldn't that change the way they operate?
29:21No, no.
29:22And, look, we're not bringing them under the government.
29:24What we're trying to do is provide opportunities.
29:25So, again, if you want to charter a school, if you want to provide an opportunity for another option, we don't want there to be barriers in the way that says, yeah, you can bring an alternative school unless you happen to be a Christian.
29:36Okay, well, that goes against the Constitution.
29:39What we're saying is if you have a high-quality school to put forth, we want to give kids more opportunities.
29:44So what we're doing is breaking down barriers.
29:46We're breaking down government, getting in the way of parents' rights and parents' decisions to choose.
29:51So, look, we think that this is a great opportunity.
29:53We appreciate the Catholic Church bringing it forward.
29:55And, boy, we've got parents all over the state, and we're hearing from parents all over the country that are excited about these potential options.
30:01Oklahoma Superintendent Ryan Walters, thanks for joining us.
