00:00$1,000 money shot, Code Word, coming up in about 10 minutes or so.
00:05Right now, though, Eastside Dave and Quick Sports, what do you got?
00:08Okay, we're going to start with baseball, where the Yankees grab the Game 1 victory in the ALDS.
00:14The Yanks beat Cleveland last night, 4-1.
00:17Garrett Cole was excellent on the mound.
00:19Cole threw six and a third innings, striking out eight, giving up just the one run.
00:25Cole picks up the win in what was his first postseason start as a Yankee in Yankee Stadium.
00:32So that was nice to see.
00:33Anthony Rizzo and Harrison Bader each homered in the game.
00:37And there were some nice defensive plays as well after some early game jitters, I thought.
00:43But overall, the Yanks looked great, and they now lead the series one game to none.
00:48I was glad to see Cole get out of that jam early in the game when he had bases loaded.
00:52Yeah, Cole needed to have a big start last night.
00:57The pressure was definitely on.
00:59He was feeling it.
01:00Everyone was talking about Garrett Cole go out there.
01:03Especially because, weirdly enough, not only did Scherzer get hit, but Verlander, another future Hall of Famer, got destroyed in the Astros game.
01:13Oh, yeah.
01:13And then there was another guy.
01:15I forget, there was a third guy, future Hall of Famer, who got killed.
01:18So, Garrett Cole was kind of the only, like, you know, big-time superstar ace who went out there and did a great job and did his job.
01:27And now this is a five-game series, like a best of five.
01:29Three out of five.
01:30So, this is a big win.
01:31Good on us.
01:32Well done.
01:32Game two is on Thursday.
01:36Weather, of course.
01:38Who are we doing?
01:39No, no, no.
01:40Nasty Nester.
01:41Oh, Nester Cortez, bro.
01:42Nester Cortez, man.
01:44All right.
01:44Some people wanted Nester Cortez to even start this series.
01:47That's how high on Nester people were.
01:49Yeah, I don't know about that.
01:50Well, you know, because of people like, you know, yourself who were down in coal.
01:53And then some people were saying, hey.
01:54Hey, I was worried about it after that appearance in the wild card.
01:57That's why people were saying.
01:59Chased him in the first inning.
02:00That's why people were saying Nester for game one start.
02:03The fact, though, that we have Nester Cortez, who has game one type stuff, starting in game
02:09two, and then Severino in game three, all of a sudden, this is feeling very, very good
02:13if you're a Yankees fan.
02:15I like it.
02:15But they got to go out and win on Thursday.
02:17All right.
02:17That's the bottom line.
02:18The Dodgers defeated the Padres five to three.
02:21Trey Turner homeward for LA.
02:23They're up now one game to none.
02:25The Phillies held on to beat the Braves seven to six.
02:28Atlanta made it uncomfortable at the end, but the Phillies held on.
02:31Bryce Harper, Nick Castellanos each had three hits in the contest as the Phillies take a
02:371-0 advantage.
02:38And the Astros rallied late from seven to three down in the eighth inning to defeat the Mariners
02:46eight to seven.
02:47That sucks.
02:47They got a, in the bottom of the ninth, Jordan Alvarez hit a three-run game-winning walk-off
02:53homer for the Astros, who now go up one game to nothing.
02:56Alvarez, you can see this going a mile away.
02:58You know they were banging a drum somewhere.
03:00I guarantee, and I think Seattle just blew the series right off the bat because you
03:04can't have a seven to three lead over Houston in the eighth inning, give up a two-run home
03:10run.
03:10You still have a seven, five lead in the ninth, and then you give up a three-run home run.
03:15That's a brutal loss.
03:16I don't think the Mariners are going to recover.
03:18So that's the postseason with Major League Baseball.
03:21On to hockey because it was the Rangers opener last night.
03:26They made their season debut against the Lightning, and the Rangers took down Tampa Bay three
03:31to one.
03:32Mika Zibinijad scored two goals in the win for the Rangers.
03:36Hockey is back, baby.
03:37The Devils and Flyers, incidentally, start on Thursday.
03:41Football.
03:42Brett Favre says he's innocent of fraud.
03:44Says that he's being smeared by the media.
03:46People like you.
03:48You people.
03:49I don't know.
03:50I just read the text in which it looks like he's really guilty of stewarding welfare funds
03:57to a volleyball cart for his daughter's school.
03:59Well, he said you're smearing his name.
04:03Brett Favre.
04:05Brett Favre, of course, being investigated for welfare fraud after he was, there is evidence
04:11that he contacted the Mississippi governor multiple times and got millions and millions
04:16of dollars that was supposed to be sent to either him or his charity, and it got sent
04:21to the volleyball facility and the football facility at his school, Mississippi State.
04:25Brett Favre.
04:25So, Brett Favre is in trouble.
04:29Basketball.
04:30I like it.
04:31Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr says that Draymond Green will return to the team
04:36on Thursday after taking some time off following the incident where he punched teammate Jordan
04:42Poole.
04:42That was quick.
04:43Probably want to chill out on that.
04:45That was fast.
04:45He was fined, and I guess he was given a few days off.
04:51Certainly not an official suspension.
04:54Weird, right?
04:54Because it happened at a practice.
04:58The league is actually not allowed to even get involved.
05:01It's up to the Warriors to administer discipline.
05:04Well, they handled it, and now they're done.
05:06I think the thing is, so Kerr.
05:08They're done.
05:09Kerr says Poole is willing to move forward and willing to get back on the floor with Draymond
05:14and go to work.
05:16And basically, it's probably because Draymond Green is the guy who does the dirty work.
05:22Four-time champion.
05:24They're going for championship number five.
05:26The season's going to start in a week.
05:27And Steve Kerr is probably like, we need Draymond Green to repeat.
05:30I think the SEC is going to start in a week.
05:36I'm told Paul who scores the job.
05:37The question is going to start in a week's business.
05:41It's gonna last week.
05:41Are you there in the week?
05:43You don't want to seat.
05:44I mean, you're this guy.
05:44I need to show you that you!
05:46I'm not moving forward, but you should have a seat!
