00:00Welcome back to Simmons Plains Raceway where the stage is set for the final two races
00:08of the Microsoft Office 365 and our second championship event of the season.
00:17And these variables continue this weekend, so we've done two qualifying sessions in a row now.
00:23We'll do two races effectively in a row and for the first time in V8 supercar history,
00:28the front row belongs exclusively to Brad Jones Racing.
00:33Jason Bright, pole position alongside him.
00:36Yesterday's winner of the 60-60 super sprint format, Fabian Coulthard.
00:40So this is where we are and this is what we're doing.
00:42Tasmania, as I mentioned, Simmons Plains Raceway just outside of Launceston on the north of the Apple Isle.
00:48It's a small circuit, but it's a funky one.
00:50It's fast, especially along that back straight and two very, very heavy braking corners.
00:56That's 270 kilometres an hour, fast in the rundown to turn number six.
01:00And real requirement here to get braking just right, to be able to get the low-speed traction just right,
01:05and to get through that fast, medium-speed corner through six and seven right.
01:08So you've actually got to combine a couple of elements to get it all glued together correctly.
01:11All right, we're on the front row here with Fabian Coulthard.
01:15Fabian, nice clear road ahead of you, your team-mate beside you.
01:18Have you and Bridie had much of a chat about how you might manage this between you?
01:22Look, we've had a bit of a chat, but there's no multi-21 situation.
01:25So, you know, look, we'll keep it clean and fair.
01:27You know, we've got a good team owner in Brad who understands what we're all about.
01:30So, yeah, we'll just have a good, clean, fair race.
01:33All the best. Have a great race, Fabian.
01:34Thank you. Cheers.
01:35Dean Fiore, one of the really nice guys in our field.
01:38I like this, Blake, mate.
01:39You must be wrapped.
01:39Your best qualifying position thus far.
01:41Yeah, I mean, I qualified 10th before.
01:43Made it near the shootout a couple of times,
01:45but legitimately 10th out of a qualifying session with no shootout.
01:48Yeah, it's good.
01:49Well done, mate, and good luck.
01:50Now, while I'm here, just very quickly,
01:51we talked about aerodynamic downforce on these cars.
01:54Here's a Commodore.
01:55You can see this little thing at the back.
01:56This is called a gurney.
01:57You can see that's about 15, 16 mil high.
02:00If I quickly run here, if you can follow us, Pete,
02:02up to a Falcon, which is up here in front.
02:04This is Will Davidson's Falcon.
02:05If we look at the back of his car, it's exactly the same wing,
02:08but they're a slightly different width,
02:10and you can see that's got a little 9.5 mil gurney on there.
02:13So the difference in gurney means that car, that car,
02:16that one and that one up there all have exactly the same downforce
02:19at the rear of the car.
02:20So rest at home, folks.
02:22No one's got an advantage.
02:23Yeah, so Dino Fiore starting from position 10th.
02:27As you said, that's his equal best qualifying performance.
02:30But for the next qualifying session, for the next race,
02:32Dean has been docked five spots because of this incident
02:35with Alex Premier at the exit of turn six.
02:40So he'll now start the next race from position 17.
02:45So turned Alex Premier around.
02:47It was quite an extraordinary place to do it,
02:49and the fact that Premier managed to stay on the track
02:52was pretty special because especially there,
02:55you'll end up deep in the sand and possibly in the walls.
02:58So that's the second row of the grid.
03:00Our championship leader, Jamie Winkup,
03:03took the lead from his teammate yesterday.
03:07Craig Lowndes dropped down to third spot.
03:10So Winkup yet to have a race win.
03:17His qualifying's been terrific.
03:19His average third position in qualifiers for the season,
03:23so too has Mark Winterbottom and Fabian Coulthard.
03:25Good job yesterday for James Courtney
03:27to pick his way back through the field.
03:33James will start this one from position 9.
03:36On board with James Moffat, Norton 360 Racing.
03:39The Nissans.
03:42So that's the scene.
03:4328 cars.
03:44This is 100 kilometres, 42 laps.
03:54And they will head out very shortly.
03:59Clear skies, big crowd.
04:02Green flag, green flag.
04:04Formation lap commencing.
04:06Let's have a look at the Fuso starting grid,
04:08and it'll be Jason Bright on the pole position.
04:10The 11th of his career,
04:12and it's an all Brad Jones Racing front row
04:14with Fabian Coulthard.
04:15Yesterday's winner, second row of the grid,
04:17we've got Jamie Winkup.
04:18He's had eight wins at this location.
04:20The most successful driver
04:21against the second most successful, Garth Bander.
04:23Craig Lowndes,
04:24what a tough day at the office for him yesterday.
04:26He's alongside Scotty McLaughlin.
04:27It's his first visit to this racetrack this weekend.
04:30And then a new gearbox in for Mark Winterbottom,
04:32and he'll be alongside Will Davis.
04:34And then James Courtney, Dean Fiore,
04:36we spoke about him a moment ago.
04:37Great job.
04:38Followed then by Jonathan Webb and Tony Delberto.
04:40Nice performance in the high flex entry.
04:42He's running the Holden Commodore this year.
04:44First at the Mercedes-Benz
04:45belongs to Lee Holdsworth from Erebus Racing.
04:48He's got Shane Van Gisbergen next to him.
04:50There's Alex Davison with Todd Kelly.
04:52Couldn't finish the race yesterday, Todd.
04:54Scott Pye, that Ecol car,
04:56had a heap of damage.
04:57David Wall had his career best.
04:59Finished yesterday with 11.
05:01Michael Caruso.
05:02We saw Alex Premmer getting turned around in qualifying.
05:05It's been a real handful for David Reynolds,
05:07the Bottle O FPR Ford.
05:08He's got Russell Engel next to him.
05:10There's Tim Slade with James Moffat.
05:13We were just on board with James a minute or so ago.
05:16And the last two rows of the grid belong to Rick Kelly and Murrow Engel
05:19and Tim Blanchard and Johnny Reid.
05:22So the two Wilson security cars fill out positions 27 and 28.
05:27Down here with Brad Jones from Brad Jones Racing.
05:30Two cars on the front of the grid, mate.
05:31I saw a discreet message go out to your drivers at the front.
05:33What did you tell them?
05:34Multi-21, Larko.
05:37Follow Motorsport, you'll know what that means.
05:39Look, you know, for me, it's just stay out of trouble,
05:42don't run into one another,
05:43and try and come in one in two.
05:45But the big message is don't run into one another.
05:48Good luck, mate.
05:49It's a fantastic sight seeing both those cars up there.
05:51Thanks, Larko.
05:52On board here with David Reynolds,
05:59and now in turn Lee Holdsworth with a very different engine note.
06:04In the Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 from Erebus Motorsport V8,
06:07and we've commented a couple of times this weekend.
06:10Terrific performance.
06:11Great to see Lee up in 13th.
06:13Engine, engine, stop it there.
06:14Perfect, perfect.
06:15About half a second, a little under half a second slower than the quick cars.
06:18We didn't expect the gap to be that narrow so early.
06:22This is Scott McLaughlin.
06:23I mentioned it when we looked on the grid
06:24that he's done a great job in qualifying,
06:28considering it's his first visit to this location.
06:31That's Lara Giddings, the Premier of this state.
06:35We've got a wonderful history with Tasmania,
06:39and this area in particular,
06:40with the Australian Touring Car Championship.
06:42So race four, 100 kilometres,
06:49and the teammates on the front row of the grid,
06:52Bright against Coulthard.
06:53The instructions are clear.
06:54Do your best, but do not make contact with each other.
06:58And they've followed those orders to perfection.
07:01And in fact, the two Red Bull racers were ganging up as well.
07:04Wink up and Lounds.
07:05A good job by Scott McLaughlin in the Fujitsu car to keep.
07:15Wink up and Lounds separated down to turn four.
07:18Bright, Hanks, Coulthard high and wide,
07:21and that's going to benefit Garth Tander,
07:23who'll get a good run up the back straight here.
07:25Wouldn't be at all surprised if Bright and Coulthard made contact,
07:29because it looked like Jason had a big understeer
07:31in the middle of the turn four hairpin.
07:32That's allowed Tander to buy in.
07:33He's up the inside at turn six.
07:36He'll grab him here, so Tander gets the spot.
07:39And remember that it was yesterday that we saw Tander and Bright
07:42in combat down at the hairpin, so they reunite.
07:47Very good job, Scott McLaughlin.
07:49Tander runs wide at a turn six and out of seven.
07:53A little bit of a moment.
07:55Cost him a little bit of time,
07:56but he and Bright with drama from yesterday.
07:59This will be on at the front of the field with these two guys.
08:01Will Davison has made up a couple of spots in sixth.
08:05Craig Lowndes started fifth.
08:07He's back in seventh.
08:14It's Courtney looking for a run on the outside
08:16with Deep Fury at the hairpin.
08:18Ingalls also up high and Reynolds up on the wall.
08:21Rips the front left suspension out of that car.
08:24Huge damage here.
08:25This will be a safety car for sure.
08:30He was caught in the wrong spot then, Dave Reynolds.
08:32He was three abreast, right up on the guardrail,
08:36and they're all bumping.
08:37Look at the damage to the Botolo Falcon.
08:40And it's the sort of significant damage that you don't need
08:43with only a couple of days turnaround
08:45before these cars are air freighted to New Zealand for Pukekohe
08:47just outside Auckland next weekend.
08:50So Reynolds out.
08:51It's the old two or three into one.
08:53Doesn't go on the exit of turn four,
08:55so it's done massive damage.
08:56Did the wall of death.
08:57Got right up on the guardrail
08:59and ripped the front left suspension out of that car.
09:03He'd actually made a good start.
09:04He was up two spots from his grid position.
09:07And at that point, he looked like he was quite strong.
09:12He made a little run around the outside at that place,
09:15and as Neil said, they just often on the exit there,
09:17you can't work out the trajectory of the car.
09:19So here he is.
09:20He's three abreast.
09:21There's Wall and there's Caruso.
09:23So Wall and Caruso made a little bump,
09:25and then Wall nowhere to go.
09:27Reynolds right up on the Armco, right up on two wheels.
09:31Have a look at how high it comes up on two wheels.
09:33Gee, it hit that fence hard.
09:35Lucky it didn't roll over.
09:36Very lucky that it'll have really significant damage
09:38in the front right-hand corner as well
09:40because of the scope of that impact.
09:43Here's the view from the curb cam.
09:47Great shot.
09:51Not lucky not to go in his room.
09:55So one victim already.
09:57A harsh one too.
09:58David Reynolds just can't take a trick.
10:01He's heading back to pit lane.
10:03So Jason Bright has control of the field
10:05behind the Pedder's safety car.
10:07We'll take a break.
10:09Bring you back to Tassie in just a minute.
10:14So the clean-up operation continues down there
10:16at the exit of turn four.
10:18Lights are flashing on the truck,
10:20and David Reynolds, bottle of four,
10:23looks decidedly second-hand.
10:24So a little bit of contact between car 36 and 21,
10:29and then Wall puts Reynolds into the wall.
10:35Crunch.
10:38The view doesn't get any better for Davey from this angle.
10:43Look at that.
10:44Almost one and a half tonnes of V8 supercar flipped on its side
10:47like a matchbox car.
10:53So while we're under safety car conditions,
10:56we'll have another quick break.
11:03Nothing to report while you were gone.
11:05They're still under safety car conditions,
11:07but it'll be action station soon.
11:10So out of turn four,
11:12and the safety car will be given the directive shortly to...
11:15Safety car lights out.
11:16Safety car lights out.
11:17Accelerated to pit lane.
11:19Lead car.
11:20Car 8.
11:21Hold speed.
11:22Hold 80.
11:23Tim Schenken there,
11:24our race director,
11:25making the point.
11:26And when those Pedder's STP safety car lights go out,
11:29there can no longer be any weaving.
11:31There's Cameron McConville, former driver.
11:33So looking after the driving standards observation
11:37and the investigating officer role now.
11:39So the guys have all got no brake warming,
11:41no pitching the car left and right,
11:43or forward and back.
11:46We're away again,
11:47so it looks like a nice, good, clean start through 6 and 7.
11:54So Bright in control.
11:57Tander, then Coulthard,
11:59and it's Wyn Cup.
12:00McLaughlin,
12:01Will Davison,
12:02Craig Lowndes,
12:03great hue from the hill.
12:06Winterbottom, Courtney and Fiore
12:07make up the top 10.
12:11Big dive on the outside
12:13from Will Davison.
12:14A huge lunge.
12:16And he'll come up
12:17behind Wyn Cup
12:18and get the position
12:20from Scott McLaughlin.
12:21There was a bump there
12:22on the exit.
12:23Davison
12:23has Wyn Cup.
12:25He was so committed
12:26to that early
12:27as Caruso and Pye
12:29go side by side.
12:30A good job on the restart
12:34from Jason Bright.
12:36He's a very experienced
12:37campaigner.
12:38He was under total control there.
12:40Courtney
12:40holds off Winterbottom.
12:42That's for positions 9 and 10.
12:44So through again.
12:52Lachlan in sixth there.
12:53We're looking at him
12:53at the moment.
12:54He's got Lowndes on him.
12:55Disaster day for Lowndes
12:57who came into the round
12:58leading the championship
12:59and then it just all went wrong.
13:01Got tangled with Van Gisbergen,
13:03got a flat tyre.
13:05Ended up with gearbox damage.
13:06Had to use second gear
13:07right here
13:08that you need to use first
13:09wouldn't launch.
13:16And then wheels spinning
13:17in the pit lane
13:18if he weren't with us yesterday
13:19and then caught the penalty
13:20which didn't do anything to him.
13:22So his whole day yesterday
13:24was just a raging disaster.
13:28So the two big movers
13:29inside the top 10,
13:30Garth Tander
13:31and James Courtney.
13:33Tander putting an aggressive move early
13:40when he saw Fabian
13:43wide at turn four.
13:45Wincup's done
13:46the fastest lap of the race.
13:50Okay, so there's
13:51Will Davison went
13:53Actually rubbed the wall.
13:54Actually got the wall, yeah.
13:55He's given the rivets
13:56a rattle there
13:57as he came off the corner
13:58and there's a little concrete apron
13:59that's three quarters of a metre wide
14:00as you can see
14:01and the grip level varies
14:03between the asphalt
14:04and the concrete.
14:05It's very easy to do
14:05particularly first gear
14:07the cars light up pretty easily
14:08they wheel spin
14:09and I'll step sideways.
14:10When you're right under
14:11a preceding car
14:12it's actually quite difficult
14:14to know exactly
14:15where you are on the road
14:16but the fence
14:16soon reminds you.
14:19How do you reckon
14:20Garth Tander's feeling
14:20at the moment?
14:21He's in between
14:22the guy
14:22that he blew with yesterday
14:24Jason Bright
14:26and the guy
14:26that he blew with
14:27at Adelaide
14:28Fabian Coulter.
14:30Yeah, there'll be some agro
14:31amongst those three guys
14:32for sure.
14:34And
14:34just a big slide
14:37for Courtney
14:37over the rise
14:38and the big motocross
14:39tank slapper
14:40going over the top
14:41of the hill
14:41there at turn one.
14:47And Tander
14:48although his speed
14:49at the start here
14:50is okay
14:51he's been complaining
14:52about rear stability
14:53and whether that looks
14:54after his tyre
14:55well enough
14:55so Bright
14:56and Coulthard
14:57have had better tyre
14:59consistency
15:00yesterday
15:01so it'll be interesting
15:02to see where the
15:03Garth can hang in.
15:07Well guys
15:08at the moment
15:08the Bottolo crew
15:09are just working
15:09on getting this
15:10left front wheel
15:11off Dave Reynolds' car
15:12it is a mess
15:13they're still assessing it
15:13but come on through
15:14Dave's back
15:15in the gap
15:15just talk us through
15:20what happened
15:21out there
15:21Oh, you know
15:23it was lap one
15:23it was all pretty
15:24hectic down
15:25at the hairpin
15:25and I ended up
15:28hitting two walls
15:29first time ever
15:30I could be okay
15:32that's the main thing
15:33Yeah, I'm fine
15:33but luckily
15:34they don't give away
15:35style points in this game
15:36because we'll be
15:36leading that
15:37All the very best
15:39cheers
15:39He's a lunatic
15:41isn't he?
15:41Hit two walls
15:42David Wall on the left
15:43and I'm going
15:44Wall on the right
15:45He had a 20th
15:47and a DNF
15:47at Adelaide
15:48he was 14th
15:49in race three
15:49yesterday
15:50and he's still
15:51got a smile
15:52on his face
15:52after being crunched
15:54down here
15:54on lap one
15:55at least he's got
15:56a sense of humour
15:57about it
15:58Faster slap now
15:58Mark Winterbottom
15:59in eighth
15:5952.27
16:01Half a second
16:04is the margin
16:05bright to Tanda
16:06Kuntart still right
16:07under the rear wing
16:08of the Holden
16:09Racing Team car
16:10Russell Ingle
16:13in behind
16:14Michael Caruso
16:14Caruso was the car
16:15on the extreme inside
16:17in that incident
16:18involving David Wall
16:19and then David Reynolds
16:20on the very outside
16:21Turn two
16:25sweep up around
16:27Turn three
16:28big lock up there
16:29so Lee Holtzworth

16:31in 14th
16:32in the Mercedes
16:32and the best
16:33of the Nissans

16:36here's Russell

16:3819th at the moment
16:39the super cheap
16:39auto Holden
16:40Commodore
16:40had a quick yarn
16:42to him earlier
16:43in the day
16:43after qualifying
16:44he's just not a happy
16:44camper when it comes
16:45to the balance
16:47of the car
16:47at the moment
16:48they'd like to
16:49get a test
16:50where they can
16:52just sit down
16:52and opportunity
16:53to really assess
16:53what to do
16:54with that car
16:55remember he had
16:55a very strong
16:56run in Adelaide
16:56Shane Van Gisbergen
16:58is under attack
16:59here
16:59Jonathan Webb
17:00has just gone
17:00by him
17:01and Tony Dalberto

17:11or he's got
17:12a few problems
17:12and Dalberto
17:13almost went off track
17:14big time
17:15doesn't take much
17:17there on the exit
17:18of turn six
17:19to lose your way
17:20there's Holtzworth
17:28right behind
17:28Dalberto
17:29and then Scott Pyre
17:30who has a dive
17:31to the inside
17:32he's looking
17:32it's a very deep
17:34lunge
17:35and Holtzworth
17:35is high enough
17:36that Scott can do it
17:37and he has
17:37got it all done
17:38cleanly
17:39nice move
17:40hey God
17:43we just quickly
17:44wanted to catch up
17:45let's try to interrupt
17:45Steve
17:45mid-race
17:46cars are performing
17:47well this weekend
17:48strong
17:49we heard James
17:50having a little bit
17:50of chat about
17:51something with the
17:51rear of his car
17:52they're having a bit
17:52of a complaint
17:53what's the heads up
17:54it's sliding a bit
17:55from the rear
17:55but a bit early
17:57in the race
17:57to actually work out
17:58what's going on
17:58at the moment
17:59good to see GT
18:00second mate
18:01it seems genuinely
18:02competitive this weekend
18:03yep
18:03both drivers
18:04are performing well
18:05Garth's up there
18:06on merit
18:07and we're enjoying it
18:09good job
18:09we'd like to see
18:10HRT up there
18:11Steve Hallam
18:12who runs
18:14operations in there
18:15former McLaren man
18:16for many years
18:16and a big stint
18:17at Michael Waltrip
18:18racing in NASCAR
18:19in North America
18:20he's been with that team
18:22going into his second season now
18:24it's a great shot
18:38what Neil said before
18:39is the drivers
18:40aim
18:41for that sort of
18:42almost one metre
18:43apron of concrete
18:45the grip there
18:46is much better
18:46and you basically
18:48slide the car
18:49all the way out
18:50in first gear
18:50and as soon as you can
18:51get the car
18:52to second gear
18:53this is the little
18:53short shift there
18:55you just saw
18:56Lee Holdsworth
18:57little short shift
18:59and then up over the rise
19:00this is one of the best
19:01bits of road
19:01in Australian motorsport
19:02we've got to get it stopped
19:03back to second gear
19:05and we've got a camera
19:08on the wall
19:08on the left
19:09at the Armco
19:10we've seen great shots
19:11all weekend
19:11but very easy
19:12to bump that Armco
19:13as you accelerate
19:15out of here
19:15this is a really big stop
19:16from 245 kilometres an hour
19:18it's a 50 kilometres an hour
19:20slowest corner
19:21on our circuit
19:23accelerate through these gears
19:27again up to 270
19:29not much in it
19:30between those two cars
19:31we've been looking
19:33at the Nissan
19:34with Russell Engel
19:35and now
19:35the Mercedes
19:36behind Scott Pye's
19:37Commodore
19:38not much in it
19:39the straight lines
19:40they're not very far away
19:40very encouraging
19:41for both new car companies
19:43and as we detailed
19:45earlier in the weekend
19:46in V8 Extra
19:46when Mark Larkin
19:47went into the garage
19:48there are two senior engineers
19:49from HWA
19:50who do the engine building
19:52for Erebs Motorsport V8
19:54they also run a
19:55Formula 3 engine program
19:58the boss of that operation
20:00Toto Wolff
20:01runs the Mercedes
20:02Grand Prix operation
20:03these days
20:04so they've got a lot
20:05of very high end
20:06motor racing experience
20:08and if they further
20:09develop that car
20:10it's not hard to see
20:11that it's going to be
20:11a fair weapon
20:12is it
20:12when you look at it
20:13at the moment
20:13it's certainly holding
20:14its own there
20:14so Lee at the moment
20:16is 15th
20:16and when you talk
20:17about short shifting
20:18just to add to that
20:19when Mark's talking
20:20about Lee there
20:21on the exit of turn 6
20:22it means he grabs
20:23the gear shift
20:24third to fourth
20:25a little earlier
20:25than he might
20:26otherwise do
20:27by not allowing
20:28the car to produce
20:29its maximum horsepower
20:30to keep the back
20:30of the car settled
20:31so pulling it through
20:32the gear a bit early
20:33and not going all the way
20:34to the 7500 rev
20:36maximum limit
20:37just stops the back
20:38of the car
20:39from getting too excited
20:40because what you don't
20:40want in a longer race
20:41where the right rear tyre
20:43is the tyre that gets
20:44punished
20:44is to excite it
20:45and superheat it
20:46and Neil
20:47I can't but help
20:48give the category
20:49another plug
20:50as we did yesterday
20:50as we look at the
20:51Nissans blazing around
20:52the lock up there
20:53and the AMG Mercedes
20:54I mean it's a credit
20:55to the category
20:56anywhere else in the world
20:57in a competitive category
20:58like this
20:58if you want to come in
20:59as a manufacturer
21:00you will spend years
21:01and you will spend millions
21:02getting up to speed
21:04and the rules allow
21:04these guys to come in
21:05and pretty well get on
21:06the play straight high
21:07yeah it's very encouraging
21:09Larko isn't it
21:10as we said before
21:11have a look here
21:12you can see the two
21:12Nissans battling
21:13with Russell Engel
21:14and there's just not
21:15much in it already
21:16their engine pace
21:17not quite good enough
21:19but good enough
21:21to be competitive
21:22so bright leads
21:23from Tanda
21:24Coulthard
21:25Winkup
21:26Davison
21:26McLaughlin
21:27Lowndes
21:27Winterbottom
21:28Courtney
21:28and Fiore
21:29that is your top 10
21:30behind James Moffat
21:32there
21:33is Alex Premer
21:34Russell's in a
21:38Nissan nightmare
21:38because it's Todd
21:39just in front of him
21:40it's Michael Caruso
21:41and James Moffat
21:42just behind
21:43it doesn't matter
21:44which way he moves
21:45at the moment
21:45he's going to get a
21:47hello and welcome
21:48from Nissan Motorsport
21:49one way or another
21:49Moffat's done a good job
21:51he's grabbed three
21:52three positions
21:53from grid spot
21:5424
21:55and he's
21:57up now
21:59behind his team mate
22:00so Jason Bright
22:02by 0.7 of a second
22:03over Garth Tanda
22:04and this place
22:07can be so spectacular
22:08but gee
22:09it can be rough
22:09if you go offline
22:10and back after this
22:12at Simmons Plains
22:13our Mega Wall
22:18showing you
22:19everything that's going on
22:20around this
22:20neat little circuit
22:22that's David Wall's
22:23car in pit lane
22:24on the track
22:26Jason Bright
22:26as we approach
22:27the halfway mark
22:29has just decided
22:30to pick up
22:30the pace of it
22:31he's just done
22:33the fastest lap
22:34of the race
22:34and he's pushed
22:35his lead out
22:36to almost a second
22:37now
22:37while we're in the break
22:38Craig Lowndes
22:39copped a double whammy
22:40down at turn six
22:41Mark Winterbottom
22:43went on the inside
22:44of him
22:44and James Courtney
22:44went there as well
22:45you'll see it here
22:47they travel side by side
22:50Winterbottom was
22:52very committed
22:53and watch how wide
22:54he's left out
22:55and Courtney goes
22:55I'll take that
22:56it's terrific
22:57within a blink of an eye
22:58Lowndes reported back
22:59that he was losing
23:00his rear tyres
23:02yeah rear grip
23:02and a bit of patience
23:04as well
23:04he wasn't too happy
23:06about the fact
23:06that he got
23:07he was held up high
23:09and that allowed
23:09James to get underneath
23:10there so Frosty
23:11had a bit of defence
23:12going in there
23:13he had the right of way
23:15in that respect
23:16so he was making sure
23:17that Craig went the long way
23:18and it really hurt him
23:19the security crew
23:20are doing some pretty hard work
23:21on Dave Wall's car
23:22at the moment
23:23Dave you were the meat
23:24between the sandwich
23:24coming into turn four
23:25yeah unfortunately
23:26look we had a good day
23:27yesterday here at
23:28Wilson Security Racing
23:29and yeah it's very unfortunate
23:30we've got a beautiful
23:31new motor car here
23:32that we're enjoying driving
23:32and to be the meat
23:34and the sandwich
23:34as he said
23:35is terrible
23:36but we get another
23:37opportunity this afternoon
23:38and everyone's hard at it
23:39trying to get back out there
23:40good luck with that
23:41so tell us from your seat
23:43exactly what happened
23:44what did you see
23:44yeah look they're field
23:45compressed as it normally
23:46does at turn four
23:47Dave Reynolds went the high side
23:49and Scott Pye went the inside
23:50and I was in the middle
23:52basically
23:52and Scotty's run me
23:53wide up into Dave
23:54and Dave had nowhere to go
23:56all right Dave
23:56thanks man
23:57all the best
23:57thanks
23:57you can see here
23:59in front of me
23:59the Red Bull Racing
24:01engineering team
24:02here's Jeremy Moore
24:03Craig Lowndes' engineer
24:04Jerry as you know
24:05it's very rear
24:05we're here
24:06Craig having a bit of a battle
24:07bit of a struggle out there
24:08what seems to be his issue
24:09just struggling for rear
24:11burning the rear tyres up
24:12a bit too quickly
24:12so yeah
24:13he's leading with it
24:15as much as he can
24:15but we'll have to tune it up
24:16a bit for the next race
24:17if we want to be competitive
24:17and has he done that
24:19as a result of just pushing hard
24:20from mid-pack
24:20where he is
24:21trying to get around
24:21yeah he might have been
24:23but I think
24:24yeah he's not quite happy
24:25with the car at the moment
24:26so yeah
24:27need to do a bit of work
24:27all right mate
24:28thanks for the heads up
24:28so Craig started fifth
24:30he's now down in ninth
24:31and they will have to go to work
24:36in between this race
24:37and the next
24:38and then the qualifying
24:40for race five
24:41is already done
24:41and Craig will start
24:45the next race
24:46from position 11
24:47so it's going to be very
24:51difficult from there Matt
24:54it's in a difficult spot now
24:56with Craig Lowndes
24:57in ninth position
24:58losing those spots
25:01we just saw there
25:01to Winterbottom and Courtney
25:02and he was complaining
25:03I mean what he said
25:04he was losing his patience
25:05but he was also complaining
25:06that he was run out of road
25:08when those overtaking manoeuvres
25:10were being conducted
25:12at turn six
25:13Dean Fiore having a very good run
25:15he's tenth
25:16he was right up the inside
25:17of Courtney earlier on
25:19almost got the job done
25:20on Courtney
25:20Courtney's been very fast
25:22he's actually got the second
25:23and third fastest laps
25:25of the race
25:25behind Jason Bright
25:27so he's had very good speed
25:28and here we go
25:31Benadison versus a Mercedes
25:33very very close
25:34look at the engine performance
25:35between these two cars
25:36Todd Kelly down the inside
25:38and gets it done
25:39on Holdsworth
25:39and that will get Todd
25:42to 16th position
25:44so Liz lost a bit of ground
25:46just in the recent past
25:47don't know why
25:48but that means
25:49the first of the new cars
25:50in the field
25:50is now Todd
25:51he's 16th
25:53oh there we go
25:53I do know why
25:54because he ended up wide
25:56on the exit of turn two
25:57so he dropped some spots
25:58in the process
25:59and that's hurt him
26:00he's got out of rhythm
26:01with the rest of the pack
26:02already a lot of rubber debris
26:04building up off the racing line
26:06as well
26:06with these Dunlop soft tyres
26:08and Jonathan Webb
26:10two wheels in the dirt
26:11on the exit of turn seven
26:12he's got the other techno
26:16entry behind him there
26:17of Shane Van Gisbergen
26:19so Darrell Lee
26:19now sponsoring
26:21John O'Webb's car
26:21for the rest of the year
26:22VIP Petford is of course
26:25on car 97
26:26so let's go for a ride
26:32quick tour of the
26:33short, sweet and fast
26:36Simmons Plains Raceway
26:37on car 97
27:00on car sneaker
27:00with the Chancellor
27:01on car we ship
27:02on car
27:04There you go, that's it.
27:34Seven corners, 52 odd seconds.
27:37An interesting watch, Courtney here, come off the hairpin
27:39because he feathers the throttle between the gear shift first to second.
27:43Here we are, about to be at the apex at four.
27:46Watch this.
27:48So the little relief of the throttle just helps it change gear first to second
27:52but importantly doesn't launch the rear wheels into big wheel spin.
27:57When we stood up there on Friday,
27:59massive number of them are just standing on the throttle
28:01and holding it flat and flat shifting first to second.
28:04Then you get this huge launch and corresponding wheel spin in second gear.
28:08It really hurts the rear tyre.
28:09So I'm very interested to see James doing that up there.
28:12That helps the rear tyre life get away with it
28:16when the tyre's brand new for qualifying
28:18but it's harder to get away with it lap after lap in the race.
28:21Meanwhile boys, Jason Bright's just done another fastest lap.
28:31Pushed his gap out to almost two seconds.
28:34That's very impressive.
28:36Lap 26, a 52.07.
28:39On the same lap, we'll give you a lap time of the others in that league group in a second
28:45but Garth Canter's done a 52.22.
28:48That was on lap 14 so it's ten laps ago.
28:52Hard to see why you end up with a sore lower back in these things.
28:55Just think about the biomechanics of this.
28:57So James has got his foot flat when he eventually gets sorted off the hairpin here
29:01and twists his hip to the right and it stays down there from this point on
29:05and his left leg is on the dead pedal on the footrest to the left
29:08and when you do a long race like a Bathurst
29:11then you get out and you go and talk to your friends
29:13and think you've got a bend axle at the end of the day
29:14because he hobbled along the road to say g'day or bent and twisted.
29:18Now here's a guy I've been wanting to flush out all weekend
29:20who's usually out on the other side of the pit wall, mate.
29:23Cars look great. I see him on the screen there.
29:25Living in Queensland, a lot of people asking, mate,
29:27how's Dick, how's Steve, how's the team going, how's the future going?
29:29Cars look great. What's happening?
29:31Well, we're still out here, obviously.
29:32It's been a pretty tough start to the year for us
29:34but Wilson's been fantastic getting on board
29:37and really helping keep EJR alive
29:39and a bit of a tough start to the boys there.
29:42We just lack a little bit of qualifying pace at the moment
29:44but race pace is not too bad
29:47but although, you know, starting that far back
29:49it's pretty hard to pass in this track
29:50so they're having a bit of a tough time out there this afternoon.
29:53How are you finding it, mate?
29:53Are you getting involved in the team debriefs
29:55or the driver debriefs to set up the engineering of the cars?
29:57He's got to say you look absolutely out of place back here.
29:59Yeah, thanks, mate.
30:00I was a bit depressing walking up and down the grid
30:03in a collared shirt rather than a race suit
30:05but, you know, I get as involved as I can
30:07and I'm obviously here for those guys to chat to
30:10and bounce ideas off
30:11but it's pretty hard, you know.
30:13We're in a bit of a phase now
30:14where we need to really push on
30:15and not enjoying it as much now
30:17but hopefully we'll be back in the seat soon.
30:20Thanks, Stevie.
30:20Cheers, mate.
30:22Now the general manager at DJR, Stephen Johnson.
30:25Weird not having him on the grid after so many years.
30:29He still hasn't committed to his endurance drives
30:33or if he has, he's not telling us.
30:35You mean not driving for DJR or...
30:38Possibly.
30:39Aaron Noonan here has been peppering him all weekend
30:41and just can't get an answer.
30:43We beat up on him yesterday and tried to get the answer out of him
30:45and he was a bit cagey.
30:46Larko?
30:47Oh, well, seriously, tell me you'd find a better endurance driver
30:49to take to...
30:51Apart from the bloke up there sitting next to you, Neil,
30:53and I don't mean Matt White.
30:56No, seriously, go back through Stevie Johnson's record.
30:58There wouldn't be a guy in this pit lane
31:00that's done as many miles with the least amount of incidents
31:02than that fellow there
31:03and he'd be a great asset to have up there, wouldn't he?
31:05Barretts would be putting his hand up, wouldn't he?
31:07He's got his cams licence now.
31:08Don't start.
31:09Don't go there.
31:10Oh, come on, Larko.
31:11Barretts is a big chance, isn't he?
31:15He's still fully debriefing us on lap two.
31:18He crash-tackled me to get to the renter car
31:19when we got to the airport.
31:21Jason Bright's now out to 2.2 seconds.
31:24Bright to Tanda.
31:26This is just starting to liven up a little bit here.
31:28Courtney's looking racy on the back of Winterbottom.
31:31McLaughlin's just in front
31:32and then it's Davison, the head of this queue.
31:34So this is for 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th at the moment.
31:39We're back on with James here at Turn 6-7.
31:47Put a new gearbox in that car last night
31:49and we're entirely happy with what James was feeling
31:53and what they were seeing with their numbers.
31:58Good to go, Mike.
31:59Good to go.
31:59Red bus, if you need it.
32:01Will Davison complaining that he can't go any softer.
32:04With the rear sway bar on that car now.
32:07So that means he's struggling,
32:09trying to soften the rear of the car off.
32:13So Davison under pressure from Scott McLaughlin.
32:17Winterbottom in that battle also
32:18and Courtney putting pressure on Winterbottom.
32:20So it's a pretty healthy group, that one.
32:22There's only about 3 tenths of a second,
32:254 tenths of a second separating all four cars.
32:28So Bright with a 2.5 second lead over Tander.
32:31Fabian Coulthard, I thought he might have put a bit more pressure on Tander in this race.
32:35That's Rusty French up there in your top right.
32:37That's Richard Holway, the engineer for Scott McLaughlin,
32:41who is very impressed.
32:43Richard was one of the guys who brought Craig Lowndes through as a young guy
32:46and has been around young motor racing drivers
32:49and makes a lot of comparison between Lowndes
32:52and Scott McLaughlin at a very early age,
32:54which is a great rap for Scott.
32:56And the job that he's done so far has been very impressive.
32:59Ooh, almost off the road then for Davison.
33:02Almost ran on.
33:03He's up very high, wasn't he?
33:04It's got an incredible amount of camber.
33:08It's like a big motocross berm, that corner up at Turn 4.
33:12It's very steep and it saves you sometimes
33:14because very often the drivers are arriving up there way too quick,
33:18but the shape of the road holds you.
33:20But McLaughlin had a look and thought about it.
33:22The gap vanished.
33:23Last night in the garage when I spotted him,
33:27he was going through an entire race.
33:29The new data logging systems in the car have got an HD camera attached to them.
33:32So Scott, he was sitting there literally watching his entire race,
33:35making notes, talking with his engineers,
33:38looking at the car's relative performance to those around.
33:45He had a feeling that they had a problem with the shock absorber on the car
33:49because it reached a point in the race where it started to become very oversteer.
33:52He wasn't happy at all.
33:54They're going to go and retest and re-dyno their shocks in the transporter
33:57to make sure they were right.
33:58They suspect that one had an issue.
34:00But we've said several times already
34:03that he's been off to a fantastic start so far this year,
34:06including that non-championship win in Melbourne.
34:08The last four laps there for Microsoft Office 365.
34:11James Courtney just picking away at Mark Winterbottom.
34:15He's got plenty of speed at the back end of this race in car 22.
34:19Just on that point you were making,
34:24those points you were making about Scott McLaughlin,
34:26I've mentioned that he's been top ten in every qualifying session,
34:29in every race so far this season, in his rookie season.
34:33He's just 19 years of age.
34:34It's incredible.
34:35He just doesn't seem to be browbeaten when he gets into the fights with the big guys.
34:41Holds his nerve well.
34:41He's already done a lot of racing in his career and in that period he's had a lot of success.
34:51Numerically, he might be young, but he's certainly got a lot of kilometres
34:53and he doesn't talk or drive like a youngster.
34:57He's a pretty bright young boy.
34:59Lee holds worth up very high.
35:01And again, that camber, the shape of that corner at turn four covers a multitude of sins
35:06and he was able to gather it up.
35:08It's a great little corner because the approach speed is about 250-odd kilometres an hour,
35:14just a fraction less.
35:15It depends a bit on the wind direction and who's around you.
35:18And then you've got to get the car slowed up back to first gear
35:21and down to an ideal target speed of about 50-odd kilometres an hour.
35:27Now, I was going to try and grab Tim Edwards, but I might walk around him.
35:31He'll probably kick me in the shits here and see if I can grab Grant.
35:33Grant, we're just hearing that Will can't retard his rear anti-roll bar.
35:38Is that right?
35:38Were you hearing the words right?
35:39Oh, mate, he could soften it if he wanted to, but the understeer's a limiting factor.
35:44Like, it will physically move, but we can't afford to soften it
35:46without dropping some speed at that end of the car.
35:48OK, thanks for the heads up, mate.
35:50Cheers.
35:50Grant McPherson, he's an engineer.
35:52Will Davison's an engineer.
35:53So, it's not a seized mechanism.
35:56It's just that if he does change it any more,
35:58if he softens that rear bar to protect the rear tyre line,
36:02make the rear of the car more compliant,
36:03it'll have the effect of allowing the inside,
36:06the unloaded front of the car to wave around in the air
36:10and when it unloads, more prone to brake locking.
36:12So, here we are on board.
36:13Right here's a spot where it's very easy to arrive
36:16with two turning and two burning
36:17and make smoke signals for the crowd down there
36:19and you end up with a Dunlop tyre that looks like a 50-cent piece.
36:22So, this is the juggle now with driving these cars
36:26because when we had the pit stops and the live rear axle
36:28and what's called the watts link,
36:31you could have a fiddle and adjust all that,
36:34make it better for the driver,
36:35but now you've got to have a lot of sensitivity
36:37in these anti-roll bar controls
36:39that you can see just to the left of Will
36:41and we've got to get that just right.
36:43This is all part of this learning
36:45and understanding the development of these cars.
36:47I just noticed this a lap or so ago.
36:50Jamie Winkup was really starting to pressure Fabian Coulthard.
36:53Now he's arrived.
36:54Well and truly arrived.
36:55That's Garth Tander ahead of the rights off in the distance.
36:57He's three seconds clear of Tander
36:59with five laps to go.
37:03He's complaining of rear tyre now,
37:05so he's used the tyre up.
37:07Remember, in races that we've seen over the years,
37:10you could change the roll centre
37:13and there were pit stops here.
37:14He put some fresh tyres on.
37:15For these sorts of sprint races,
37:17what you start the race with, you've got
37:18and the sway bar changes are the only ones
37:21that you can make as active changes for the driver
37:24to change the balance of the car.
37:26So whatever they've done,
37:27now it's on now again.
37:29We've just got young Scott right up alongside,
37:32winter bottom on the left.
37:35He'll have track position for turn six.
37:41Oh, he's died back down the inside.
37:43Oh, that's a healthy manoeuvre.
37:45Well done.
37:46And Courtney, he'll hit him.
37:48They make contact.
37:50And Courtney tried to do the same thing.
37:52He tried to dive through and get that pass done,
37:55as we saw earlier in the race.
37:56Scott McLaughlin, what a great move.
37:59Great exchange.
38:00How's the way Frosty ducked back across to the right?
38:02I held my breath when he did that.
38:04He went back to the racing line.
38:06McLaughlin immediately chops down to the inside.
38:09Fired it in there.
38:09That was a great bit of driving.
38:12Awesome.
38:12Here it is again in replay.
38:13So check it out.
38:14At this stage, and I saw it flick up on the timing,
38:17winter bottom is millimetres in front
38:18and sliding in top gear.
38:20He jams it back to the right
38:21and immediately look at the Fujitsu man
38:23straight back to the dirty side of the road
38:26and gets it done.
38:27Then James goes, this looks nice.
38:30And actually, James did the right thing.
38:31He lifted the throttle and let Frosty recover.
38:34Didn't take advantage of it
38:35because he knew it wouldn't have been right.
38:36Here's the replay from James Carr.
38:38Oh, how cool.
38:39What a great bit of driving.
38:41And really, that's a good bit of driving for Courtney
38:43because he could have fired him off.
38:45And he was probably up far enough
38:46to have taken that corner off him.
38:48But winter bottom should not have moved over to the right.
38:52He allowed Scott McLaughlin to do that.
38:54Well, if he stayed down the left.
38:55He stayed on down the left.
38:56He had that position.
38:57There was a tonne and a half in the way.
38:58So that was interesting.
38:59Exactly.
39:00So it was a mistake from winter bottom
39:01and a great opportunistic dive from McLaughlin.
39:04I love that stuff.
39:05There's a lot of car control,
39:07a lot of bravery.
39:09265, 270k.
39:11And how's the way?
39:12In that replay, you saw Frosty's car
39:14having the big 60-gear 270k slide
39:16on the outside of Turn 5.
39:19So that's wild stuff.
39:20I reckon Mark Winterbottom will think about that one.
39:22He won't do it again.
39:23He gets up in the morning.
39:24He has a shaver thing.
39:25I'll never do that again.
39:26I think Fiore is attacking Lowndes.
39:30I think he's actually got him just in the back of shot here.
39:32Have a look.
39:33He is.
39:33He's down the inside.
39:34Good job.
39:35Well done, Dean.
39:36Dean up to ninth.
39:38It'll be a career best finish.
39:39He can hold an inside in the top ten.
39:41It was a classic case back there of anything you can do.
39:43I'll try and do it better.
39:45And I did.
39:45That's exactly what McLaughlin did on Winterbottom.
39:49So Jason Bright leads the race by 4.1 seconds.
39:52Only a couple of laps to go.
39:53It's back on again here.
39:55Reigniting it.
39:56So I don't reckon Frosty will pull that move again, as I said before.
40:00Here we go.
40:00Back to the hairpin.
40:01James Courtney, the watching brief.
40:03Winterbottom up high.
40:04McLaughlin in the lead of this little battle.
40:06Now Frosty's up inside with better traction.
40:08Here we go.
40:09Carbon copy repeat cycle.
40:11That puts him on the dirty line, Mark Winterbottom.
40:13So he grabs sixth gear now.
40:15He's got to go the long way.
40:16I'll bet he doesn't try and chop the nose this time.
40:20Now he holds his ground.
40:22And this time there's a blue Pepsi Max forward in the way.
40:25And Courtney up the inside.
40:27It's McLaughlin that fares worst of all.
40:30Frosty through.
40:31Courtney through.
40:32What a great exchange, guys.
40:35How's McLaughlin on the exit of turn four?
40:37Eyeballed Mark Winterbottom.
40:39Had a good, decent look to his left.
40:41I thought you were going to do it again.
40:434.3 seconds, Jason Bright.
40:45Smashed them.
40:46This is a very, very good drive.
40:48Good speed.
40:50Fabian still being attacked by Wincup,
40:53but I don't know if he'll get to him now.
40:55And released.
40:56You can see that Winterbottom's opened a couple of car lengths.
40:59Gee, Scott had the wheels locked then.
41:00He was almost in for the back of Courtney.
41:02What's going on in the front?
41:03There's a bright window popping out of it.
41:06So Jason Bright last won a race in 2011.
41:10Fantastic job there, Bryony.
41:12Excellent drive.
41:14Today, he's blitzed him.
41:16And two out of two for Brad Jones Racing this weekend.
41:18Bryony, man, good work.
41:20Tander second.
41:21Fabian Coulthard on the podium again.
41:23Which means that Wincup misses out on the podium
41:26for the first time this season.
41:28In fourth.
41:29Will Davison, Mark Winterbottom, James Courtney,
41:31and Scott McLaughlin put on showtime for us
41:35at the end of the race.
41:36Dean Fiore in ninth.
41:39And that is a career best race finish for Dean
41:43with Craig Lowndes in tenth.
41:46Now, there's our race winner.
41:48So first time in a couple of years
41:52he's been on the top step of the podium
41:53and what a day to do it.
41:55The day after his teammate scored his first championship win
41:58with one more race to come this afternoon.
42:01BJR are going to leave Tasmania very, very happy.
42:04Garth Tander always features at the end here.
42:07In Tasmania, he's got a great run of results.
42:09Shane Van Gisbergen in twelfth.
42:11There's Todd Kelly, sixteenth.
42:12And we go further down the field
42:14where David Wall and David Reynolds,
42:17the two casualties,
42:19big impact down at turn four.
42:22And Reynolds' car frantically trying to be pieced together
42:25for the next race.
42:27And I'm surprised we even get a podium.
42:30So he started from pole position.
42:32He held fire the whole way
42:34and was pulling away at the end of the race.
42:39It's a thoroughbred effort for Jason Bright.
42:41Who's off to Le Mans later in the year
42:43to drive a Ferrari sports car.
42:44He's just been over at Paul Ricard in France
42:46testing that car.
42:48So his stocks are high at the moment.
42:50He's doing lots of race driving.
42:52He's got some big gigs ahead.
42:54And, oh, nearly bolted.
42:57Garth Tander.
42:58And he's done a brilliant job this afternoon, Bright,
43:01to look after the tyres and make margin.
43:03These guys have really taken to the car of the future.
43:13They actually haven't even had a proper test run
43:16aside from the Eastern Creek test.
43:18So there's more to come from Team BOC and Lockwood Racing.
43:24And good job, Garth Tander.
43:25There's the teammates.
43:26I thought he was going to give him a kiss there.
43:34So Garth Tander's first podium of 2013.
43:39Good, solid.
43:39That was just a solid performance from Bright.
43:41He knew he had the car to do it.
43:44He just stayed out of trouble and stayed in front.
43:46Well, Jason Bright, fantastic effort.
43:54What a team result for Brad Jones Racing.
43:57And, Brighty, for you, great to see you
43:58on the top of the podium once again.
44:00Yeah, it's been too long again.
44:02I seem to be putting big brakes in between my wins
44:04at the moment.
44:05But, you know, hopefully this year we won't have to wait
44:07as long.
44:08You know, the BJR cars, both Lockwood Racing and Team BOC
44:11are just awesome at the moment.
44:12You know, so, you know, we're coming out of the box strong.
44:15We've just got to keep going all this year.
44:16Fantastic race.
44:17Well done, Brighty.
44:18Enjoy that top spot on the podium.
44:19I will, mate.
44:19Don't worry.
44:21Garth Tander and Fabian Coulthard boys both together.
44:24Garth, a great move by you early on to get in front of Fabian
44:27and to stay there as well.
44:29Yeah, look, I was surprised Fabs went up high
44:31and that sort of opened the door
44:32and two teammates were banging into each other,
44:34so I opened the door.
44:35So, yeah, I didn't need a second invitation
44:37and it was a good race up the back straight with Fabs
44:39and then we just managed to just stay in front.
44:42Brighty obviously got away,
44:43but really happy to be second.
44:45It's been the VF party so far this year.
44:47It's good to have HRT part of it.
44:49And Fabian, for you two, a great result.
44:51I mean, a win yesterday and now a podium result today.
44:53Perfect.
44:54Yeah, it's pretty good.
44:56You know, like, you know, a win yesterday,
44:57like you say, podium today.
44:59It's been a pretty good weekend.
45:01Obviously a little bit unlucky there on the outside of Brighty,
45:03but, you know, if it wasn't me,
45:05there was no other person I'd like to win than Brighty,
45:07my teammate, so congrats to him.
45:09A great weekend.
45:09One more race to come.
45:10Enjoy this podium, Fabs.
45:12Scottie McLaughlin, P8.
45:14I think when I spoke to you yesterday, it was P8 as well, mate.
45:16But I'm here to talk about move of the weekend.
45:19You know what I'm talking about.
45:20We try and teach young blokes sometimes how to do a racing manoeuvre, mate.
45:23Can't teach that one.
45:24Well done.
45:25Talk us through it.
45:25Well, my first instinct was I was trying to stop Courtney from going under me as well,
45:31and then Mark left the door open, so I just threw it.
45:34Mate, turn around.
45:35There it is, on the screen.
45:36Yeah, I'm just trying to let him go, and then I thought, oh, no, I'd better have a go here,
45:40and it ended up pretty good.
45:42And he gave me racing room.
45:43I gave him racing room.
45:44My car had a cliff, but I had so much fun now.
45:47It was good fun.
45:48Looks like you're having fun, mate.
45:49And P5, I think, in the next race?
45:51Yeah, I think so, yeah.
45:51So it's a good starting position.
45:53You know, it's just good racing up the front with the experienced blokes.
45:56You learn so much more.
45:57So I'm not saying anyone down the back isn't, but I'm just saying it's a good racing.
46:01So, yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
46:02Keep your head down, mate.
46:03You're doing a great job.
46:03Cheers.
46:04Yeah, and you're right, Larko.
46:05He will start from position five for race five.
46:08It'll be furthest up the grid he started.
46:11So the championship points after four races.
46:13Jamie Winkup continues to lead from Will Davison, so no change there.
46:16Look at Scott.
46:17He's in fifth in the championship race, and Mark Winterbottom was tenth before this one.
46:21So he's pushing along as well with the sixth placing.
46:25So time now for the podium.
46:26Jason Bright asked the question when he came into pit lane, do we get a podium after this one?
46:30He was worried about a turnaround.
46:31Well, yes, you do.
46:33Jason, take it away, Barrettes.
46:34The 2013 V8 Supercars Tasmania.
46:37Microsoft offers 365 our fourth race of the year.
46:40Would you please congratulate our winners?
46:42In first place for Team BOC, Jason Bright.
46:46In second place for the Holden Racing Team, Garth Tander.
46:53And in third place for Lockwood Racing, Fabian Coulthard.
46:59Representing the winning team from Team BOC, Andrew Edwards.
47:03Making the presentation of the third place trophy is Nick Roney, the District Sales Manager for Coca-Cola Amatol.
47:16Presenting to second place is Brian Whiteman, the Attorney General of Tasmania.
47:20Making the presentation of the two-hour winning team is John Fitzgerald, the Chief Executive Officer, Tourism Tasmania.
47:37And presenting to our winner is Michael Bennett, the Tasmanian State Manager of our major sponsor, Microsoft.
47:44Ladies and gentlemen, the 2013 Tasmania, Microsoft Office 365, race for winners.
47:55Not too much champagne was going to go on the drivers because they've still got to go again.
47:59They've decided to attack the team instead.
48:05Jason Bright, last tasted that champagne back at Winton on a memorable afternoon in 2011.
48:10So a first and a fourth for Bright so far, a first and a third for Coulthard.
48:15And Garth Tander's first podium since Townsville last year.
48:19The good news is we've got plenty more still to come here at Simmons Plains.
