00:00Welcome back to Queensland Raceway. A repeat, or a replay for you of that incident in race one.
00:10Now the enforcer doing some enforcing, Radisic taking evasive action.
00:13Watch Larry Perkins in the back of your screen here, doing around 180mph.
00:18Realises at the last minute, jams on the brakes and an impressive piece of driving.
00:22Great reaction there.
00:24He avoids the carnage. There has been an official inquiry into that one
00:28and it's set to continue. Some shakers and movers in this one.
00:31Tanda in race one, moving from 12th position to 6th.
00:34Craig Baird dropping from 6th to 14th.
00:36McDougal a good effort after qualifying 16th, or 25th rather.
00:40And Peters, a storming effort, going from 30th position right up to 18th.
00:44Richo, after those problems earlier in the race, dropped to 24.
00:48So that's how they finished in race one.
00:50Now they're able to go down and catch up with Mark Osler.
00:53Holden Racing Team continuing their domination of the Shell Championship Series,
00:57but first Ford home in third place. Mark Larkham, what a race.
01:00Yeah mate, I've got to say I enjoyed that.
01:01It was good having a bit of a grudge match out there with Russell.
01:04That goes back ten years or so, and it was good that he was on the receiving end for a change.
01:08Now could this weekend be the weekend we see Ford win one? It's been a long time.
01:11Oh look mate, I certainly don't want to appear to whinge or whatever,
01:14but I still think there's a little bit of a parody and difference there.
01:16And this is our home track, we have our car working well here, but we're not quite there.
01:20But we've only got to make a small mistake, we're nearly on them.
01:23Now consistency is going to be important here too,
01:25because you blokes have probably had a chance to do a full race run,
01:27whereas HRT is still doing a little bit of guesswork there.
01:29Well it has, but the circuit's changed here a lot.
01:31Every couple of weeks it changes, so we're guessing a little bit too, don't worry.
01:35Hang in there.
01:36Yeah, we're hanging in there.
01:37Thanks mate.
01:38Let's see how he goes in this one.
01:39Now if you're after something great for your home,
01:41Russell Ingle in action at the island.
01:43Just $205.70, GST included in that one, plus postage.
01:48Just call 1800 888 321 for a framed poster of the Enforcer.
01:53A great framed print in fact we should say.
01:55We'll check out the grid now for you for the start of race two.
01:57Craig Lownton, Mark Scape on the front row once again.
02:00These are the finishing positions from race one.
02:02Larkham and Ingle on row two.
02:04Radisic, Tanda, row three.
02:06And Longhurst back on row four.
02:07If you look at the right hand side of the screen there,
02:09the yellow boxes show where they're qualified.
02:11You get an idea of how they performed in race one.
02:14Craig Murphy qualifying 18, getting up to 11.
02:16Ashby, Peters, Crompton, Tratt, Brad Jones, Paul Romano, Rodney Forbes
02:20well back there, and so too Stephen Richards.
02:22Yeah, big grid here.
02:24And we're just moments away from the start.
02:26Who will it be, Lowndes or Scape this time around?
02:29Scape got the jump in race one.
02:31We're away in race two.
02:33In Queensland, Lowndes making the better of it.
02:35A great start by Russell Ingle once again.
02:37He gets plenty of power to the ground and stays with the Holden Racing Team.
02:40Lowndes leads the way into turn one.
02:42Scape in tow.
02:44Yeah, good start by Holden Racing Team once again
02:46as they flash down toward turn two.
02:48Swing into Titan Corner.
02:50Head in the back straight for the first time.
02:51Scape.
02:52Oh, very wide.
02:53Sitting in behind his teammate, Lowndes.
02:54Russell Ingle now up to third position.
02:56As they head down the back straight once again.
02:59Breaking hard for Konica Corner.
03:01For those of you that may have just joined us,
03:03Mike Imrie is out for the rest of the afternoon's action courtesy of that crash.
03:06And Craig Baird has been a non-starter in this race.
03:09He's got clutch problems, we hear.
03:11And the team are working frantically to try and repair them.
03:13So dramas for the Pertec Ford.
03:15And another one not starting in this race is John Faulkner.
03:18Those electrical gremlins from race one continue.
03:21And he made it as far as the exit of pit lane.
03:24Well, after that collision in race one, Russell Ingle was in front of the stewards.
03:27A very long hearing.
03:28They actually had to adjourn the hearing until the conclusion of race two.
03:32So we don't know what the outcome of that is yet.
03:34But after that collision with Mike Imrie, look at this battle.
03:37As they come down toward turn six.
03:39Tony Longhurst up the inside of Garth Tander.
03:42Bumper to bumper.
03:45As they come out of here.
03:48A nice clean start.
03:50Word from the pits we hear is that Craig Baird has now rejoined the field.
03:55So the Stone Brothers Racing team doing a terrific job to try and repair those clutch problems.
03:59Look at Steven Johnson here battling away with Glenn Seaton.
04:03Steven Richards.
04:05Yeah, rotten luck for Steven in race one.
04:08That collision with Craig Baird.
04:09Look at this side by side as they come out of Titan Corner down the back straight.
04:12Steven Johnson on the inside.
04:15Yeah, I think there's a lot of pride to be happy to be the guy who's the first forward home.
04:19There's no doubt about that.
04:20Look at Larry.
04:21He's well placed here as well.
04:22Johnson could get caught hanging out wide here.
04:24Larry goes very deep under brakes.
04:26We jump aboard.
04:27The forward limit in-car camera.
04:28Glenn Seaton showing you the way.
04:30North of the moment.
04:31Lowndes from Scaife.
04:33Ingle Tander.
04:34Mark Larkin.
04:35Paul Radisic.
04:36Tony Longhurst.
04:37Jason Barguarda.
04:38And this is the battle for ninth position with Glenn Seaton.
04:41Steven Johnson.
04:42Larry Perkins.
04:43Steven Richards.
04:45Greg Murphy in there.
04:46So a great battle here as they come up toward turn six once again.
04:48Well, two HRT cars haven't pulled out as much in the first couple of laps as they did earlier
04:57on in the previous race.
04:58So I think that in the first race, if you saw, Mark, they got a big lump at the beginning
05:03because Larkin and Ingle were fighting together.
05:06And then at the end of the race, Ingle and Larkin were catching them.
05:10Well, it's exactly what Mark Scaife said.
05:12He said the car was beautiful.
05:13His car set up was beautiful early in the race.
05:15But as the race wore on, it was starting to give his rear tyres a hard time.
05:18So Lowndes managed to sneak through.
05:22And Scaife just avoided getting into the clutches of Ingle.
05:24But he has made some changes to the car to try and make it easier on those rear tyres
05:28this time around.
05:29Yeah, Lowndes said that he got past Scaife.
05:32He could run over some oil.
05:33Look at this.
05:34Larry.
05:35Right on the brakes.
05:36Fantastic move by the veteran.
05:39Steven Johnson gets the elbow in the door.
05:42Greg Murphy.
05:43Paul Wheel.
05:44Right up in the battle, too.
05:45It looks like Murph's had a bit of a touch there.
05:48Yeah, I think that's a bit of a domino effect there coming down into that corner.
05:50A concertina, if you like.
05:52And Murphy's caught the hit up the back from Paul Wheel, who I think was nudged by somebody
05:56else.
05:57Paul Wheel's one guy who's shown a lot of raw speed this year.
06:00He hasn't been able to turn that into results.
06:02Well, he's got caught up in some sort of an accident.
06:03Look at this attack by Bart Weiner.
06:05Oh, Bart Weiner.
06:06Oh.
06:07Round and round we go.
06:08Tony Longhurst just has a half spin.
06:10Manages to keep it straight.
06:12Gets back into the action, but he's lost a ton of track position in the Caltex Havilane machine.
06:19Really aggressive run by Bart Weiner coming up to turn six.
06:23So the odd at the moment.
06:24Lowndes escape.
06:25Engel.
06:26Tander.
06:27Larkin.
06:28Radisic.
06:29Bagwana.
06:30Seaton.
06:31Larry Perkins.
06:32Look at the smoke there, Mark.
06:33Coming from the front of Greg Murphy's car.
06:34Now that's from the front right when it loads up on that front left, rather, I should say.
06:38It tends to get worse, and we'll have to keep an eye on that during the course of the race.
06:42Car 12, the Kiwi, Greg Murphy.
06:44Look at this.
06:45In the background too, there is a teammate in the second of the Kmart Commodores.
06:48Richards and Ellery having a run down the inside of Will.
06:51Richards coming with him.
06:52Boy oh boy.
06:53Look at that.
06:54That's a crew cut in V8 Supercar Racing.
06:56Short back and sides.
06:57Gets left behind the double-pronged attack.
07:00Poor Will.
07:01Gets to the outside now of the Kmart machine.
07:04Good move by Stephen Ellery.
07:06Hard under brakes over the bumps.
07:07Coming into turn three.
07:08And that puts the Kmart machine up there.
07:11Look at this.
07:12Poor Will now under attack.
07:13We look at the back of the Kmart Commodore.
07:15Stephen Richards.
07:16The four wheel copying more heat now for Brad Jones and the Aussie male Ford.
07:22Another move down the inside here of Dougal McDougal.
07:25That's Neil Crompton having a look.
07:27Couldn't quite get there at turn six.
07:29A run coming onto the front straight.
07:30This freight train of V8 Supercars.
07:32Now we have another look there.
07:34Let's talk us through this one.
07:35Yes, Bogwana.
07:36He is.
07:37Bogwana's having a go there.
07:38And that was a bit ambitious, I think, on Jason's behalf there.
07:43It was a little bit too late to have a go at that.
07:46But I suppose the door's there.
07:49Looks like it's open.
07:50You have a go.
07:51Craig Lane's our race leader.
07:521.2 seconds up the road from Marksgate.
07:55Russell Engel.
07:56Hot in pursuit in the Kastrol Commodore.
07:58Garth Tanner is having a great fight back today.
08:00He started from 12th.
08:02Got his way up to 6th.
08:04Now he's on the move.
08:05Up to 4th position.
08:06So it's a great fight back by the young Western Australian driver.
08:09Well, it's great in a lot of ways, Mark.
08:11Because when you consider that he was under a great deal of pressure post-Canberra after that crash.
08:15Many people were wondering just how he would react in that situation where he desperately needs points.
08:20And he's reacted superbly.
08:2112th up to 6th in race 1.
08:23He's jumped two places already.
08:24Up to 4th in this one.
08:26And he's now closing in on the Enforcer.
08:28Absolutely critical round with a 23-year-old from Perth.
08:32As he sticks over the back bumper of the Kastrol Commodore, Russell Engel.
08:37Garth Tanner currently third in points in the Shell Championship Series.
08:41Qualified fifth here last year and took his first Shell Series round victory.
08:45Hasn't been quite so lucky throughout qualifying this weekend.
08:49But boy, he's coming back gangbusters.
08:51Race 2.
08:52He's still got a long way to go.
08:53If you look at England, Tanner and Larkham's time, they're virtually identical.
08:58It's just the HL lounges going consistently quicker than Skatefeather.
09:04There is your Munro driver profile.
09:05Garth Tanner, the 23-year-old.
09:07Resides these days in Melbourne.
09:09Originally from Perth.
09:10Former Formula 4 champion.
09:1226 starts in the Shell Championship Series.
09:15This season, just the one race win.
09:18He did that, of course, at Hidden Valley.
09:21But has been many times a round winner.
09:23In fact, won the opening three rounds of the championship, if you like.
09:26And was top of the table for some time.
09:27Now he's in third.
09:28This is the battle for 16th position.
09:30Right back in the tack.
09:31And this is what you always have in V8 supercar racing.
09:33Great battles right up and down through the field.
09:35Neil Crompton currently in 16th position.
09:38Having got past Dougal McDougal.
09:40Saw Crompton get in a kerfuffle with Rodney Forbes.
09:44Lost a lot of track position in Race 1.
09:46Oh, look at who is that?
09:47Bowe.
09:48That's Bowe, is it?
09:49John Bowe?
09:50Yeah, John Bowe and...
09:51And that's the wins, Comet, or Rodney Forbes?
09:52Yeah, Rodney Forbes.
09:53So Forbes really in the thick of things today.
09:56He's been in more fights than Tyson today, haven't he?
09:59Got tangled up with Neil Crompton as I've seen in Race 1.
10:02Another replay.
10:03Oh, Anthony Tratt and Cameron McLean in front there.
10:06Good job by Brett Peters here to avoid all that in the colour scan Falcon.
10:10Making his return to the V8 supercar ranks this weekend after a fairly substantial layoff.
10:15Biggest mover in the field at the moment, Stephen Richards.
10:18Our Canberra winner has gone from 24th on the grid in this one, now up to 12th.
10:23If you look at Lowndes, he just looks...
10:25He certainly looks after the car, doesn't he?
10:28I was just looking out the window and looking at...
10:30Oh, the inside, Larry Perkins.
10:33Got squeezed by the first of the Kmart cars.
10:36Greg Murphy really charging after terrible qualifying session, could not get the car to work.
10:40Now Stephen Richards wants a slice of the action.
10:42We go on board with the GMC 400 winner in this tremendous battle with Larry Perkins up the inside as they come up toward Turn 5.
10:51And these great shots on board cameras giving you all the action.
10:57Craig Lowndes, a 1.11.33.
11:00Now that's mighty impressive considering the lap record here is a 1.11.0 set by Garth Tander last year.
11:06But that was on that considerably faster Bridgestone control tyre.
11:10So all the racing team are doing a tremendous job at Queensland Raceway this weekend.
11:14There's the gap between Craig Lowndes, our race leader, lap eight of 17.
11:19Back to team mate Mark Scaife in second place.
11:22Russell Ingle holds down third from Tander.
11:24Larkham, Radisic, Barguana, Seton, Johnson and Perkins.
11:28Have a look at this, Baz.
11:30Oh, it's Forbes here.
11:32I don't think Rodney's gone out there in sympathy.
11:34There was no contact.
11:35No, I don't think so either.
11:36I don't know what's there.
11:37Look at the left hand.
11:38I don't know.
11:39It's hard to see.
11:40Maybe just a reaction.
11:41Saw Bauer possibly in a bit of trouble.
11:43And has overcooked it himself.
11:46Third place.
11:47Russell Ingle, the enforcer.
11:48And Tander hunting him down.
11:52Currently third in the championship.
11:54584 points to our leader.
11:57Mark Scaife, 764.
11:59If Garth Tander loses the Shell Championship Series this year,
12:02I'm sure he'll look back on those streets of Canberra
12:04and think, boy, that was the round where I lost it.
12:06He lost a lot of points there.
12:08Just looking at Lowndes,
12:10he's a lot gentler on the tyres than Scaife he looks like.
12:15And if you look now,
12:17Scaife's thing's all over him,
12:19all over the show on the back end.
12:20And Lowndes' thing looks like he's on rails.
12:22And that's the price that you paid with
12:25caning the tyres early on.
12:27A couple of teams struggling with clutch problems here this weekend.
12:30A little odd.
12:31We've seen Craig Baird have some dramas in the Pertec Ford.
12:34And word from the pits we hear is that Thomas Mazira,
12:36the Densitron Commodore, is out at the moment as well.
12:39He's retired with clutch dramas.
12:41Larry Perkins continues to fight with Stephen Richards.
12:44They exit Turn 2.
12:45The Castro Commodore.
12:46Look at the Kmart Commodore coming back at him.
12:48Stephen Richards playing defensive
12:51against the veteran 50-year-old Larry Perkins,
12:54who knows every trick in the book.
12:56And this battle will continue, folks.
13:00At the moment, Craig Lowndes is the man
13:03that leads the way.
13:04But this is terrific, isn't it?
13:06Side by side.
13:07Go on board again with Stephen Richards.
13:09He's really been in the thick of things.
13:10Larry Perkins on the outside
13:12as they break out for Turn 4.
13:14We've got a Perkins fan standing right behind us
13:16because Larry's son's Jack is up in the commentary box with us.
13:20So he's fighting.
13:21Fighting hard.
13:23Well, we're around about mid-race distance.
13:26Stay with us, folks.
13:27Race 2 here at Queensland Raceway.
13:29Lowndes and Scape on top from Ingle, Tander,
13:31Larkham, Radisic, Barg, Wada and Seaton.
13:34They are your top eight.
13:35Further back, Stephen Richards, Murphy and lots more.
13:38And lots more to come your way here
13:40from Queensland Raceway.
13:41Back in a moment.
13:46We're back at Queensland Raceway.
13:48Craig Lowndes, the defending Shell Series champion,
13:51leads the way.
13:52A mobile Holden Racing Team won two at the moment
13:55with seven laps remaining.
13:57Tander trying to chase down Ingle.
13:59Larkham, the best of the four pilots in fifth place.
14:02Now, don't forget, folks, lots more motorsport coming your way.
14:04Right here on Network 10 Trackside next Sunday afternoon.
14:08Formula Fords, Formula Holden and the Pirelli Porsche Cup action
14:11from Oren Park in Sydney.
14:12Three to four.
14:13But as always, check your local guys.
14:15Great battle here.
14:16Brad Jones up the inside.
14:17Stephen Ellery as they come out of turn three.
14:20John Bauer joins in there.
14:21Oh, it's number eight hits.
14:22Big hit.
14:23What was that?
14:24Wow.
14:25He's clipped the kerb there on the exit of that corner.
14:27There's an inroad.
14:28A safety road that runs off to the left there.
14:31And I think Stephen has just clipped the berm,
14:33or the real strip, I should say, on the exit of that.
14:36Hit it pretty hard.
14:37John Bauer coming back on the attack.
14:39He's back in 18th position at the moment.
14:41After that tangle on pit straight,
14:43quite a frightening accident in race one.
14:46But Bauer manages to gather it up.
14:48He's in a great battle here with Bradley Jones
14:50and his rookie shell championship series season.
14:54Very impressive on the streets of Canberra in race six.
14:58But now he finds himself fair way back in the battle now.
15:01This is the battle for 16.
15:02Another replay, Baz.
15:03Let's have a look at this.
15:04Yeah, just watch.
15:05Oh, that's a major bang.
15:06That's the kerb.
15:07So he's hit that pretty hard.
15:08They hit it with the front for the front and rear,
15:09but look at it.
15:10They've done the old track load of good.
15:11On board with John Bauer as he thunders down the back straight,
15:12carrying the beat clear and simple in-car camera.
15:14Brad Jones just in the foreground there,
15:15and the Aussie male forward and ahead of him.
15:17And he's in the back straight line.
15:18He's in the back straight line.
15:19He's in the back straight line.
15:20He's in the back straight line.
15:21He's in the back straight line.
15:22He's in the back straight line.
15:23He's in the back straight line.
15:24The beat clear and simple in-car camera.
15:27Brad Jones just in the foreground there,
15:29and the Aussie male forward and ahead of him,
15:31Neil Crompton.
15:33Our camera, the beat clear and simple camera,
15:35shows you JB working away in the office.
15:37It has not been his weekend.
15:39Didn't have a great time in Darwin either.
15:41There's the telemetry.
15:42Back to second through this middle horseshoe part of the track.
15:45They work up to around 120 k's an hour.
15:47There you go.
15:48Almost 130 for this infield section,
15:50then down towards turn six, up through the gearbox.
15:53And then into this right-hander,
15:55which brings them on to the front straight
15:57here at Queensland Raceway.
15:59Oh, how close do you want it?
16:03Meanwhile at the front,
16:04Craig Lowndes is opening a bit of a gap
16:06over his teammate Mark Scaife.
16:07It's out to 2.2 seconds now.
16:11Last lap, there was only three hundredths of a second in it,
16:13but accumulatively it's getting over two seconds for Lowndes.
16:17And he desperately needs some championship points.
16:19He has not had a good start to the season.
16:21Sort of up and down.
16:23Been let down a couple of occasions with mechanical problems.
16:25So Queensland Raceway,
16:27in fact every round from now,
16:29crucial to Craig Lowndes if he wants to
16:31try and haul back his teammate.
16:33I think Craig's on tire conservation now at the moment,
16:36because he's just,
16:37he was lapping consistently quicker than Scaife,
16:39and now they're lapping at the same speed,
16:41he's just keeping the gap the same.
16:43You notice there John Bauer didn't attempt a passing move
16:46under brakes on Brad Jones.
16:47The yellow flags are being shown down there.
16:49Cameron McClain in the Greenfield mowers forward.
16:51It's bogged, but now Bauer has gotten up the inside of it.
16:54This is in this central part of the track again,
16:56the middle of the big paper clip if you like.
16:58And Bauer got a great run out of that turn
17:01and just worked him over on the straight
17:04and has gotten past Jones.
17:07So the order remaining fairly static up ahead of these guys,
17:10Lowndes and Scaife.
17:12Three seconds up the road now from Russell Ingalls,
17:14so the Castrol Commodore not being able to stay with him this time.
17:18Tander in fourth position, Larkham fifth,
17:20Radisic in sixth,
17:21Bargwana in seventh,
17:22Seaton in eighth,
17:23Steven Johnson in ninth,
17:24and Greg Murphy in the Kmart Commodore.
17:27He rounds out the top ten.
17:29Should also welcome our viewers through TV1 in New Zealand.
17:33Larry Turkins.
17:35Are you enjoying all the action?
17:37He may be 50 years of age,
17:39but I'll tell you what, his reflexes are still pretty sharp.
17:41That is that they were.
17:43When he avoided Mike Emory in that race one,
17:45we checked his telemetry after the race,
17:46he was doing 180 kilometres an hour.
17:48It was 130 metres beyond the start finish line
17:51when he actually reacted to seeing that car there.
17:53He just didn't see it against all the crowd
17:55and all the trees in the background,
17:56and then he just had to react with lightning-fast reflexes,
17:59what could have been a horrific accident.
18:01That's a good point you make there, Mark.
18:03You may have wondered why it took Larry so long to react.
18:05It's with the crowd in the background there
18:07and trying to watch the chequered flag,
18:08things do become a bit obscured.
18:10It's a little difficult for Larry to see.
18:12Mike Emory's car, you know, across the middle of the track.
18:15Plus the fact you don't expect to see something parked
18:17in the middle of the circuit.
18:18No.
18:19That's exactly what he said.
18:20So, maybe...
18:21Oh, they've got smoke coming here from one of the FTR Falcons.
18:27Looks like he's still continuing with enough speed.
18:28Glenn Seaton currently sitting in eighth position.
18:32And he has got...
18:33That looks like oil smoke, Baz.
18:34Yeah, it does, doesn't it?
18:35Definitely is coming out like on the overrun.
18:39Should also say a quick g'day to Jason Bright.
18:42He'll be joining the Ford Brigade again.
18:44Come Mount Panarampabath.
18:45He'll be teaming up with Dick Johnson racing.
18:48Had a terrific run, Jason, in the Indy Lights.
18:50Took out the recent round at Portland
18:53and now lies second in the championship,
18:55just three points behind Kiwi Scotty Dixon.
18:57And in a couple of months' time,
18:59we'll be lining up at Honda Indy on the Gold Coast.
19:01So, Corporate Australia get behind him.
19:03Oh, look at this, getting serious.
19:05Little earlier too.
19:07Round eight of the Shell Championship Series.
19:09The V8s roll into Victoria for the second time this season.
19:12And that is only a fortnight away.
19:16Seaton working hard at the forward limit.
19:18In-car camera.
19:20Currently hanging on to eighth position.
19:22Two laps remaining.
19:24As our race leaders, Holden Racing Team,
19:26continue on their merry way.
19:29Glen Seaton currently second in championship points.
19:32This round, every round critical to try and keep that points all going.
19:37He's going to stay with Mark Scaife at the moment.
19:39764 for Scaife.
19:41Glen Seaton 638.
19:43So, he's just over 120 points.
19:46126 points behind Scaife coming into this round,
19:48which is effectively three race wins.
19:50So, you wouldn't want some unreliability to strike the car now.
19:54Smoke continues to come from the FTR Falcon of Glen Seaton.
19:58Doesn't seem to be slowing his pace at all.
20:01No, it doesn't.
20:02I'm just trying to work out where he's coming from.
20:04He's coming from the middle of the car now.
20:05Look at this.
20:06This is an awesome charge from Stephen Richards.
20:08He started in grid position 24 and has been carving his way through the field up to 11th place.
20:13And now hunting down Stephen Johnson, who's in tenth.
20:16So, Richo looking for a top ten finish and looking good for him.
20:19Look who's coming for the ride as well.
20:21In the Caltechs, Haviland Ford, Tony Longhurst on the recovery run.
20:25Stephen was just so disappointed after that collision with Craig Baird in race one.
20:28He said the car is brilliant around here.
20:30Watch me go.
20:31He was expecting to make a charge through the field.
20:33And he certainly delivered.
20:34He's up into the top ten.
20:36Having displaced Stephen Richards.
20:38Look at this battle between Richards and Longhurst though.
20:40The two Queenslanders in their Fords.
20:44But at the moment it's Commodore.
20:46One, two, three, four at the front of the pack.
20:49A Ford's home ground.
20:51And this is the run for home two.
20:53These guys will get the last lap board to go this time around.
20:55As Tony Longhurst sneaks down beside Stephen Johnson and moves up a place.
21:00So the Queenslander doing very, very well.
21:05Total domination by HRT at the moment.
21:08It's almost out for three seconds now.
21:10The gap between the race leader Craig Lowndes and Mark Scaife in second.
21:13Russell Ingle some 3.7 seconds behind Scaife.
21:16So position is fairly static at the front.
21:18There's our championship leader.
21:20He's really dropped off the back of his teammate.
21:23Lowndes is doing a masterful job here.
21:26Tire management, race pace.
21:29He really is brilliant at that, there's no doubt.
21:32He's so smooth and...
21:35Always very, very good on tire sensitive tracks.
21:37Bear in mind, Craig Lowndes was fourth coming into this round of the championship.
21:41Two starts, two wins today for Craig Lowndes and more valuable points in the bag for the defending champion.
21:47Skate finishes second.
21:48Russell Ingle third and Garth Tander.
21:50A solid drive for fourth.
21:52Great performance.
21:56Paul Radisic getting across the line there.
21:59Watch this battle continue.
22:01Larry Perkins.
22:02Paul Wheel on the charge as well.
22:05And so too John Bow.
22:07On to the front straight now.
22:10They'll get the chequered flag this time around.
22:12Larry comes across the line.
22:14Thirteenth.
22:15Paul Wheel fourteenth.
22:16So another solid effort from the young Queenslander.
22:19John Bow.
22:20Fifteenth in the caterpillar forward.
22:22When you look down the list and see the quality of the guys in fourteenth and fifteenth position, quite incredible isn't it?
22:28Yeah, unbelievable isn't it?
22:30There's Glenn Seaton.
22:31Just looking down at the car, there was some smoke coming from that car.
22:35Yeah.
22:36Let's have a listen.
22:37The oil catches fire.
22:40Now that sounds like there's an oil leak of some sort and possibly it may be even coming into the cabin or something because he's just concerned about it at the moment.
22:47There you are.
22:48Yeah, he's saying about the oil catching fire.
22:51Worried that the oil can catch fire.
22:54Now he's taking there, that's like a little escape road which will bring him right near the pit entry.
22:58No doubt that'll cop the wrath of the officials.
23:00Oh yeah.
23:01Yeah, can you believe that?
23:02Somebody got it.
23:03Paul Wheel I think it was, yeah.
23:04Paul Wheel yesterday had a puncture to save driving around the circuit, getting in everybody's way, wrecking the track and his car.
23:10He got penalised because he came across the circuit somewhere where he wasn't supposed to cross it.
23:15That makes no sense to me at all, but it's a good common sense move and that's exactly what Seaton has done on this occasion.
23:20And by rights they should penalise him because they penalise Wheel.
23:24So you can see him down there looking down at the inside.
23:27Apparently they're getting an engine change ready for Glenn Seaton.
23:30So he did well to hang on for eighth position.
23:33Here in Queensland.
23:34Here's how they finished in race two.
23:36Lowndes and Skate.
23:37Inglehome third.
23:38Tandafort.
23:39Larkin fifth.
23:40Paul Radisic up to sixth in the Shell Helix.
23:42Falcon.
23:43Jason Barguana to seventh.
23:44That's a good effort from him.
23:46And Glenn Seaton, as we mentioned a moment ago, finishing eighth.
23:49And it's Murphy, Richards, Longhurst, Johnson, Perkins, Wheel, Bauer and Jones.
23:53More on the other side of this.
23:54Once again a huge turnout by the Queenslanders for their local round.
24:01Round seven of the Shell Championship.
24:03We've seen two races today and so far it has been a HRT Quinella on both occasions.
24:09Some other movers for you.
24:10Bards went from group position 12th to 7th.
24:13Stevie Richards a storming drive 24th to 10th.
24:16And Bauer 31st to 15th.
24:18Let's go down to the pits.
24:19Mark Ostlott is with another of today's big movers.
24:22Holden Racing Team's second win in a row.
24:24But Garth Tanda, after a terrible start to this weekend, you're fighting back.
24:28Well, yeah, we didn't start real well qualifying 12th.
24:30And we've had to fight through the pack.
24:32We're just lacking a little bit of pace at the moment.
24:34But now that I've actually got to the front, I can see what the other guys are doing.
24:36I know what we need.
24:37So hopefully we'll make a change for this last race and we can get up there amongst it.
24:41A lot of people at home probably be wondering, you are so fast here.
24:44How can you suddenly fall off the pace when you come back 12 months later?
24:47I don't know.
24:48If anyone at home's got any ideas, they can give us a call.
24:50Because really we were looking to have a good run this weekend.
24:53And we're a bit stumped after qualifying.
24:55So it's good to be at least back up the front.
24:57And hopefully we can take some points off the guys in this last race.
25:00Might see you on the podium.
25:01Thanks, mate.
25:02Thanks, Mark.
25:03Ford have got a marvellous prize up for grabs for one lucky viewer.
25:07Craig, I'm down here with Anthony Schrapp.
25:09Now, Anthony in Canberra, you had pole position for the second race.
25:12That's correct, Barry.
25:13In race one on Saturday morning, we took the car out.
25:17And we had a great run throughout the first race.
25:20Pit stop was fantastic by the guys.
25:22They called us in early.
25:23We got out early.
25:25And we're running in 12th position in race number one.
25:28And we had a misfire on the engine.
25:30An electrical gremlin showed its face.
25:32And there's no other option but to dawdle around the back of the field to finish race one off.
25:36And in the back of our mind, we knew that it would be somewhere towards the front of the grid for the second race.
25:41But we didn't believe that we'd be on pole.
25:43Yeah, sitting on pole position.
25:44It was quite funny because I was sitting in the commentary box and we had lots of different sort of pictures coming up.
25:49And there was a shot of you and you were giving it the cross of your chest.
25:53I think, mate, that was mainly to see that we can get away with it, stay out of a clean race and that electrical gremlin left us alone.
25:59But as the race panned out, it came back again.
26:02And same dramas.
26:03We had to just pedal around behind the back of the pack.
26:06Because I saw, as you got off the line, the thing didn't seem to go.
26:10You know, really, after a couple of laps, the thing started to slow down.
26:13Yeah, well, actually, Brad Jones and I were both on the front row of the grid.
26:17And we both got very poor starts.
26:19And I knew that Garth was behind us.
26:21And he's like a slingshot off the start line.
26:23And all I could think of was, where's Garth?
26:25As we took off.
26:26But we had a very poor start.
26:27And I think Brad bogged it down a little as well.
26:29We finally got to come to grips with what was going on.
26:32We got to the first corner and we were pushed wide by Garth, which was not surprising.
26:36The guy had a good run.
26:37It's just the way it was.
26:38Good race, though, anyway.
26:39It was.
26:40Fantastic.
26:41Thanks, Barry.
26:42If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?
26:44It'd have to be poverty, I'd say.
26:45Everyone says that.
26:46But, you know, we look at the country we live in and we're so lucky what we got.
26:51It'd have to be the Australian driving licence system because it's an absolute joke.
26:56And there are way too many Wallys out there on the road.
26:59Stopped the inventions of mobile phones.
27:02They've just caught, wreak us havoc all the time.
27:05They're ringing all the time.
27:06And now they've just found out they give us tumours.
27:08There you go, Mark.
27:10Jesus.
27:11Phones are hopeless.
27:12I'm trying to get older Steve Richards, but he's always engaged.
27:14We're off.
27:15If I could change one thing in the world, it'd have to be get rid of all the pollution.
27:18No ScHow.
27:19People are Post Office.
27:28If I could change another up one thing.
27:30But what is the building?
27:31What is that here?
27:32It's not a good brain.
27:33We did not quit the levels.
27:34It was in the full, I mean.
27:35We did not quit theэ pit.
27:36It was really bad when you complement the system.
27:37It's chronicable.
27:39It's the moment to be made even impossible for the humans, right?
