00:00All right, now let's break down what's happening in the U.S. stock market.
00:03And behind me, this is the Standard & Poor's 500 Index stocks categorized by sectors and industries.
00:10And size represents market cap.
00:12It's a mix of red and green over here.
00:15And red means losses and green means gains.
00:18And I'm going to start with NVIDIA.
00:20NVIDIA right now shows the color of red and which was down by 2.05%.
00:25And the stock price is still currently at 108.73.
00:29And this is under the semiconductor sector.
00:33And the latest update on NVIDIA, which is China's Huawei Technologies,
00:36is preparing to test its newest and most powerful artificial intelligence processor,
00:42hoping to replace some higher-end products of U.S. chip giant NVIDIA,
00:46the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday.
00:48And Huawei has approached some Chinese tech companies
00:51about testing the technical feasibility of the new chip called the Ascend 910D, the report said.
00:57The Chinese company hopes that the latest iteration of its Ascend AI processors
01:02will be more powerful than NVIDIA's H100 and is slated to receive the first batch of samples of the processor
01:09as early as late May.
01:11And Reuters reported on Monday that Huawei plans to begin mass shipments of its advanced
01:16910C artificial intelligence chip to Chinese customers as early as next month.
01:22And moving on to the next one is I'm going to touch on Meta.
01:27Unfortunately, it was increased by 0.45% and the stock price is at the level of 549.74 right now.
01:36But on the other hand, Google was down by 0.87% and the stock price right now is 162.42
01:44under the sector of communication services, internet content and information.
01:48But the latest update on Meta is Apple was fined 500 million euros,
01:53which is similar to 570 million dollars on Wednesday,
01:57and Meta 200 million euros as European Union antitrust regulators handed out the first sanctions
02:03under landmark legislation aimed at curbing the power of big tech.
02:07The EU fines could stoke tensions with US President Donald Trump,
02:11who has threatened to levy tariffs against countries that penalise US companies.
02:15And Trump's White House called the fines a novel form of economic extortion.
02:20The United States will not tar relate.
02:22And like I mentioned earlier, Google's update was down by 0.87%.
02:27But the latest update on Google is a US judge has set a May 2nd discuss policies
02:33with the US Justice Department and a group of states might ask the court to impose on Google
02:38after it ruled the alphabet unit illegally dominates two markets for online advertising technology.
02:44And US District Judge Leonie Brinkema in the Alexandria, Virginia Federal Court
02:48indicated the hearing aims to get an early and broad sense of the potential remedies
02:53before focusing on specific measures.
02:56And the hearing will come after Brinkema in a blockbuster order.
03:00On April 17th, found Google liable for willfully acquiring and maintaining monopoly power
03:05in markets for publisher ad service and the market for ad exchanges that sit between buyers and sellers.
03:12However, Google and the Justice Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
03:18And the last but not least, we have Tesla with the green of color here.
03:22It was up by 0.33%.
03:25And similarly to the same sector under the auto manufacturers is we have Ford.
03:30It was down a bit by 0.20%.
03:33And as for General Motors GM, it was increased by 0.28% and 47.24%.
03:40And this is for the automotive sectors.
03:42But the latest update on Tesla is that Tesla faces a proposed class action
03:48claiming it speeds up autometers on its electric vehicles
03:51so they fall out of warranty faster, saving Eloma's company from having to pay for repass.
03:57The plaintiff, Nairi Hinton, alleged that Tesla autometer readings reflect energy consumption,
04:02driver behavior and predictive algorithms rather than actual mileage driver.
04:07He said the autometer on the 2020 Model Y he bought in December 2022
04:12with 36,772 miles on the clock ran at least 15% fast
04:18based on his other vehicles and driving history
04:21and for a while said he drove 72 miles a day when at most he drove 20.
04:26And Hinton, a Los Angeles resident, said this cost his 50,000-mile basic warranty
04:32to expire well ahead of schedule, leaving him with a $10,000 suspension,
04:36repair bill that he thought Tesla should cover.
04:39And the complaint said by tying warranty limits and lease mileage caps
04:44to inflated autometer readings, Tesla increases repair revenue,
04:48reduces warranty obligations and compels consumers to purchase extended warranties prematurely.
04:54And those are the updates that I can share to you today on U.S. markets.
04:57We have more updates of today's. Stay tuned, don't go anywhere, and we'll be right back.
