Today's contestants are Diana Owen & Dave Benny from South Humberside, John & Mandy Griffiths from the West Midlands, Jim Isaacs & Pauline Reed from Fife, and Jean Davies & Jonathan Barker from Cheshire. Bruce Forsyth hosts but isn't talking at first to assistant Rosemary Ford after she referred to him as a clapped out Chippendale in the last episode. But it doesn't stop them helping the victims (sorry, contestants) through such games involving practising with the Red Devils (sky diving, not Manchester United), making pasta (with typical results for some), making and guessing a tune on a huge keyboard, and guess the mime from TV adverts. The final two pairs then face off in a 1920's farce where one is considerably better than the other. There are a number of famous faces, including Patrick Moore, Paul Shane and June Whitfield, while one contestant is surprised with a Guess the Knobbly Knees competition. And if you are wondering what Brucie is referring to at the beginning, it is William Roache's court victory suing the newspapers over saying he was as boring as his Coronation Street character Ken Barlow. And to think he is STILL in the soap!

04:28After leaving an all-girls convent to go to a mixed sixth form college
04:34You suddenly discovered the wonders of the opposite sex
04:37Yes
04:38What is about that?
04:39Well, the convent was actually very strict
04:40Oh, very strict
04:41The convent, yes
04:42Very strict
04:43And I sort of got to a mixed school and I thought, yeah, discovered boys
04:46And sort of one afternoon, I had sort of one sitting in the lounge
04:48One was in the kitchen, and the telephone went
04:50And sort of mum comes in
04:51Telephone man went to the phone
04:53And it was actually another one
04:54I thought, I can't handle this
04:55So I just left
04:56You left?
04:57Left mum to face
04:58Left mum to face
04:59Yeah
05:00Oh, really?
05:01I'll make a note of that
05:02Little...
05:03Raver
05:04Now then, over to John Griffiths
05:08You're a production manager for photographic equipment
05:11Yes
05:12Good, and you're married to Elaine
05:13And how did you meet her?
05:14I met her when I was 14 years old
05:16At a local judo club
05:17Oh, you started young as well
05:18You did, didn't you?
05:19Oh, judo club
05:20Yes, you could say I fell for her
05:21I'm glad I didn't right now
05:22After that reaction, for goodness sake
05:23But your nickname at school was boat

05:41We've got a game coming up very soon
05:42Thank you
05:43Thank you
05:44Thank you
05:45Good
05:46Now then
05:47Before our first game
05:48I'd just like to remind you that our contestants have no idea what we have planned for
05:54It's a game coming up very soon, sir.
06:02Before our first game, I'd just like to remind you
06:05that our contestants have no idea what we have planned for them.
06:09Our first game is called Be A Devil.
06:12But first of all, take a look at this.
06:15Now then, have you ever wondered how the Red Devils rehearse
06:27those wonderful routines?
06:29Well, tonight, we're going to show you.
06:31Would you please welcome from the parachute regiment,
06:34free-fall team, the Red Devils.
07:23Hello.
07:39How's that?
07:44Hi, Debbie. Hi, Debbie. Thank you, Joe, and thank you, Debbie. Thank you, team.
07:49Now, Debbie, I've been told to ask you, you know, what's it like being the only lady amongst the team?
07:55Well, you don't have to queue for the ladies.
08:00Anyway, thank you, Debbie. And, Joe, will you describe that?
08:03I know that that routine you just did starts at 12,000 feet.
08:06When you spread out there at the end, that is where you sort of pull the cord and you parachute down.
08:12What height would you be?
08:14We'd separate it 3,500 and open it about two and a half.
08:17So you've done about 8,000 feet doing that routine before you actually fall. That is incredible.
08:23OK, so the first two in, if you will, come over here. Lovely.
08:28You take Debbie's one. We're calling them skateboards for the hour.
08:32OK, here we have Red Devils take two.
08:36OK, form your circle. Yes, form your circle and get, come on there, Diane, and get your legs up.
08:44Get your legs up. Good. Lovely.
08:46That's fine. That's good.
08:48Now, Dave, to the centre.
08:49OK.
08:51OK, now, Diane, do a spin, dear. Spin round, love.
08:55That's it. Fine.
08:56Now, Dave, do your spin. Hold on to them, dear. Hold on to them.
08:59Otherwise, you're full. Do your spin, Dave.
09:01Dave, do your spin. Good.
09:03Good. Good. Lovely.
09:05Now, face the front.
09:07Face the front. All of you face the front. That's it.
09:10Arms up. Arms up, Diana.
09:12Where are you going, dear?
09:15OK, now, lock legs. Lock legs with your partner.
09:18Lock legs with your partner. No, Diana.
09:21Lock legs with... Get your legs together. That's it.
09:24OK. Now, do your spin. Do your spin together.
09:27No!
09:29No.
09:30Lock your legs together.
09:31And do this.
09:33No, not your own legs, isn't it?
09:35Now, spin. Spin.
09:37No, not that way, dear.
09:39That's the way around the game, dear.
09:42That's it, Ty.
09:45OK.
09:46Right, face the front. Face the front.
09:48OK, you're 3,500...
09:50Get back to here!
09:53That's it. Track away. Track away!
09:55Track away, Diana!
09:56Right!
09:58Put it cold, dear. Put it cold.
10:05Put it cold. Now, float away. Float away.
10:08Yes!
10:13There we are.
10:16What, dear?
10:17It was uncomfortable.
10:18It was uncomfortable.
10:19Yeah, you looked uncomfortable.
10:20I hope you can go over there and wait a while and enjoy the others. In you come.
10:24Here we are, John. This is your one here. That's absolutely lovely.
10:27Here we go, then. Red Devils, take three.
10:30Form your circle.
10:33Form your circle. That's good. Get your legs up. Good girl, Mandy. Good girl, John. I mean, good boy, John.
10:41Get the legs mixed up. That's it. Form your...
10:43OK, Mandy, do your spin, dear. Spin, dear. Spin.
10:47Very good. Come on. Round you go. Get hold of them. There's it, John.
10:50Do your spin, John.
10:52Do your spin. Good.
10:53Good boy.
10:54Mind those feet of his, for goodness sake.
10:57Mind his head. OK.
10:58Right, face the front. Face the front.
11:01Mind his feet, for God's sake.
11:03Right, arms up. Arms up. That's it.
11:05OK, now lock your legs together, the pair of you.
11:07OK. OK. That's it. Lock your legs together.
11:11Lock your legs together.
11:12That's it. Together.
11:13Now do your spin. Do your spin.
11:15Oh, very good.
11:16Now keep going.
11:19Round you go. Round you go.
11:21Keep your legs locked.
11:23Let's in. Back you go, there.
11:25OK. Face the front.
11:27Face the front now.
11:28Right, you're 3,500 feet up.
11:31Track away. Track away. Track away.
11:34Let's in. To the front. To the front.
11:36And have a float. Have a float.
11:37There you go.
11:38Well done.
11:42Those things are always good.
11:44Really killed them.
11:45Hold on. Just here. Come back, if you will.
11:48Lovely, lovely, lovely.
11:49Now then, now to do the marking for us,
11:52here is another member of the Red Devils.
11:54Let's welcome Sergeant Mark Sheridan.
12:03Well, Mark, you've got to live up to your day.
12:06We want you to do some marking now.
12:07So, first of all, our team number one over here.
12:10Good, Diane.
12:11A very nice body position there.
12:13A bit forgetful at times, however.
12:16Dave, on his turns, was good positioning.
12:19Yes.
12:19On his turns, I would give them 15 points.
12:2315 points for these two.
12:25Well done, Dave.
12:25You've seen it.
12:26Lovely, lovely.
12:28And what about over here?
12:30Again, good positioning, good transitions,
12:33and I would give you 17 points.
12:3517?
12:36That's brilliant.
12:37Well, that's fair.
12:38I think that's about that.
12:39And good luck with all you do.
12:41And once again, thank you to the Red Devils.
12:44Oh, yes.
12:46There we are.
12:46Now, then, what's on the record, Miss Ford?
12:51Well, Diana and Dave have scored 15.
12:54Mandy and John have scored 17.
12:57I see.
12:58Only two of you.
12:59Only two of you.
13:00If you just pop over there.
13:01Over there you go.
13:02Sit yourselves down just for a second.
13:04Please welcome, from Leif's School of Food and Wine,
13:08C.J. Jackson.
13:15C.J.
13:17Now, is that your nickname, or C.J. is just...
13:20Everybody calls you C.J.?
13:21Everybody calls me C.J.
13:22It's my real name.
13:22That's your real name, C.J.
13:24Oh, great.
13:24Now, is pasta good for you?
13:26Because people say, oh, it's so fattening.
13:27But is it good for you?
13:29It's very good for you.
13:30It's a carbohydrate.
13:30Good.
13:31So come over here.
13:32And will you all come over and have a look
13:33and see what C.J. gets up to?
13:36Get yourselves in a nice position
13:38to be able to see everything.
13:40And watch out very carefully,
13:41because this takes a bit of doing.
13:43So off you go, C.J., in your own words.
13:44Okay, what we want to do first of all
13:46is make a big well in the centre
13:47and into that we're going to drop the egg and the oil.
13:51With one hand, what I'm going to do
13:52is just start mixing that around
13:54and with the other hand,
13:55flick in a little bit of the flour.
13:57And what we want to do is make
13:58a fairly firm and not sticky dough.
14:01Now she's got the...
14:03Right.
14:03That's a spatula, is it?
14:04Or palette knife.
14:05Sorry.
14:05What I'm going to do now
14:06is take the palette knife
14:09and just cut...
14:10A bit of palette knife.
14:11Some of that flour
14:12into the egg.
14:14So chop it in there, there.
14:15That's it.
14:16That's it.
14:17And then what I'm going to do
14:18is start by kneading...
14:19She kneads it, see.
14:20...some of that flour.
14:24And I'm going to just work that
14:25to get it to a really good...
14:28See that?
14:29What she's...
14:29Very carefully.
14:30See, she's really pushing it about, Leah,
14:33and getting that nice texture,
14:34which is so important
14:35when she gets to the last couple of bits coming up.
14:38Oh, that's it.
14:38She's clearing the decks now.
14:39What we want to do is get rid of that excess flour
14:42and a little bit of fresh flour onto the table.
14:45That's it.
14:45And I'm going to just start to work...
14:48The dough in my hand gets a little bit flat.
14:49So you're going to make a kind of a...
14:51A bit of a fattish roll.
14:52Get it in that shape.
14:53That's it.
14:54Fatt it out,
14:54and then it's ready to go through the machine.
14:56Ah.
14:57Right.
14:57Now, for the machine,
14:58it's all set for you.
14:59What we want to do, first of all,
15:00make sure you've got enough flour on the dough
15:02and we're going to start
15:04by working it through.
15:06It's a little bit like a mangle.
15:08Yeah, like a little mangle.
15:09You're right.
15:09Oh, and a little bit more flour
15:10you're putting on there.
15:11A little bit more flour.
15:11Uh-huh.
15:12We then want to turn the machine
15:13to the next slot.
15:15Notice that it pulls out
15:16before you turn it
15:17to the next little yellow mark there.
15:19And we want to...
15:20Pull it through again.
15:21Pull it through once more.
15:23This should make it a bit longer,
15:25in fact, quite a bit longer.
15:26That's it.
15:28That's lovely.
15:29Lovely.
15:29Now, handle comes out.
15:32We're going to just slot that into there.
15:34Goes into the middle there.
15:35Can you see that one?
15:36It's now ready to cut our tagliatelle
15:39and we're going to start to push that through.
15:42Ah, and this is the bit.
15:47As it comes through,
15:49pull it out
15:52and then we're just going to lie that
15:54across the top.
15:57Like so.
15:58That's all.
15:59All there is to it.
16:01Look at that.
16:02That's a lovely,
16:03even stick.
16:05Even stick.
16:07I'll give you...
16:08I'm going to shake your head
16:09and look silly.
16:09OK.
16:10Will you come back
16:10and do some marking, CJ?
16:12Lovely.
16:12OK, get to your tables.
16:13You come over here.
16:14Get to your tables.
16:16Put your pennies on.
16:17Put your pennies on.
16:18That's it.
16:19I thought you'd let your mother go first,
16:21but over there, didn't you?
16:22You've got an Italian minute and a half
16:24to go up to the cutting.
16:27Remember, don't go any further
16:28than the cutting
16:28of the actual tagliatelle.
16:31OK?
16:31Starting from now.
16:34That's it.
16:35Pop the egg in
16:36and then start your mixing.
16:38Remember, she did mixing with one hand
16:40and then flicking the flour
16:42in gradually
16:43with the other hands.
16:45Don't forget,
16:46when it comes to the other bit,
16:47if you can't get it through here,
16:47you'd put one of your feet on it.
16:53And start
16:53to do the kneading now, I think.
16:56Really get into that kneading
16:57and knead as much as you can.
17:00Try and get that texture going.
17:02Remember, she's got it
17:03in the shape of a little roll more.
17:05It's a little flat roll.
17:12Let me know
17:15when they should be
17:16putting it through the machine.
17:17Yes?
17:18Start putting it through
17:19that first part of the machine
17:21thing that she did.
17:22Remember?
17:23OK.
17:24If you can get it into the roll.
17:26See if you can get into
17:26that first part of the machine.
17:28OK.
17:32That's it.
17:33In there.
17:33That's it.
17:33Give it a turn.
17:34See if you can get it
17:35to go a bit longer.
17:37Yeah.
17:37Yeah.
17:37Yeah.
17:39Very good.
17:40Very good.
17:41Very good.
17:42And don't get some more flour.
17:43More flour, first of all.
17:44What a mess.
17:51Try and get it through the other part now.
17:54Move it to the other position.
17:55OK.
17:57Move it to the...
17:58Oh, yes.
18:03Don't go any further.
18:05Put a bit more flour and don't go any further.
18:07Stay right where you are.
18:08That's wonderful.
18:09OK.
18:10Oh, what a mess.
18:11What a shame.
18:14It's such a shame.
18:16What?
18:17Is it not...
18:18Oh, no.
18:19Wherever you are up to...
18:20I'll be with you in a minute.
18:21Wherever you are up to, stop.
18:22Stop.
18:23OK.
18:24Now then, my darling.
18:25Will you...
18:25Now, we've got to put that into there,
18:27haven't you?
18:27Put that...
18:28You do it yourself
18:28so it doesn't help anyone.
18:29Good.
18:30That goes into there
18:31and it's into the tagliatelle part
18:33and see what kind of strips you get.
18:35I'll collect them as they come out.
18:37OK.
18:38Press them down.
18:39That's it.
18:41Very good.
18:43Keep it going like that.
18:45Keep it going.
18:46That is excellent.
18:48That is really quite wonderful.
18:52My goodness.
18:53That's it.
18:54Keep going.
18:54Keep going.
18:56No, I won't break them, do you?
18:57I'm trying to do the best I can.
19:00I mean, who would think I have to do this?
19:03There we are.
19:04But that is quite, quite fantastic.
19:07Absolutely.
19:10That is wonderful.
19:13You've got to count it.
19:14Let's see how you do.
19:15Put the thing in there.
19:17It's all jammed up before you start.
19:19What have you been...
19:20Get a hold of that.
19:21Which bit do you want to...
19:21You're going to go with that.
19:23That's it.
19:24That's it.
19:25OK, put it in there.
19:27Put it in there.
19:28That's it.
19:28And try and get the...
19:30Try and get it...
19:31Go on, yeah.
19:35There's something there.
19:37Keep going.
19:38Keep going.
19:39Keep going.
19:40Don't worry, there's a worse.
20:03Now then, darling.
20:04Oh, you're all ready.
20:06You've been cheating on the side.
20:07No, there you are.
20:08Put that one in there, darling.
20:09Well, you know, this won't be too bad.
20:11I think you'll get about two strips out of that.
20:13For the look of it.
20:14Put it in there.
20:15Wind the handle.
20:16Oh, yeah.
20:16And feel something.
20:19Can't see anything.
20:20But, oh, yeah, this is good.
20:21This is very good.
20:23Not much of it, but I mean...
20:25Not much of it, but not bad.
20:33There we are.
20:33Right, see what comes out of this.
20:36Right, keep turning.
20:36Keep the whole world...
20:40Keep the whole fires turning.
20:42But, that's it.
20:44Oh, yeah, they're not too bad.
20:45They're a bit thick, and...
20:47But they're there.
20:48Funnily enough, I wouldn't have believed anything could have come out of that.
20:52But it's not all that bad.
20:54Not all that bad.
20:55Not bad at all.
21:00A little strip there.
21:01A little strip here.
21:02Not bad at all.
21:03There we are.
21:04Okay, CJ.
21:05I wouldn't have your job for anything.
21:07Right.
21:08Come back and do some marking for us, please.
21:11Here we are.
21:15Okay.
21:16Now, first of all, this, I thought, was tremendous.
21:19She did, I mean, she had a lovely, long strip there.
21:22And what do you think?
21:22I think a nine out of ten.
21:24A nine out of ten.
21:25Oh, that made up for the rest of it.
21:28He did die.
21:29Well, I mean...
21:30I mean...
21:30He did have some more here, but I mean, I think he lost heart when he saw that.
21:36But, I mean, what do you think?
21:39Four.
21:40Four?
21:40Four out of ten for that.
21:42Oh, never mind.
21:43There we are.
21:44These are...
21:45There we are.
21:47A bit of shape there.
21:48A bit of shape there, yes.
21:49I think five.
21:51Five.
21:52Just five for that one.
21:53All right, I think.
21:54And what about this one?
21:57A bit thick, but at least he had a bit of shape there, didn't he?
22:00A little bit thick.
22:01A little bit more flour.
22:02Yeah.
22:02I think six for that.
22:04Six.
22:04Very good.
22:05Very good.
22:06Lovely.
22:07CJ, it's been fascinating to watch.
22:09Thank you very much for being here.
22:10Good luck with all you do.
22:12Come along now.
22:13Good game.
22:13One day, give me a clap.
22:14Oh, yeah.
22:15All right, well, we'll get all our fingers again.
22:21What's on the board, Mr. Ford?
22:23Well, Diana and Dave have scored 28.
22:27Mandy and John have also scored 28.
22:29Oh!
22:31All right, local situation.
22:34Here we are.
22:35Now, it's the first person...
22:36Thank you, Rosalie.
22:36The first one to answer the question.
22:39Who recently became Mrs. Fortensky?
22:42Elizabeth Taylor.
22:45Yes, you're right, my darling.
22:46You're right.
22:48Well done, Diana.
22:49It's very good at the time.
22:50Sorry for me, G.
22:52It was so close.
22:54Well, we do have a Generation Game telephone for both of you, and thank you very much for
22:57being here.
22:58OK?
22:58And you'll be in our grand final, which is coming up very soon.
23:02Off you go over there.
23:03Lovely, lovely, lovely.
23:04All right, you know, then, who have we got left?
23:09Right.
23:10Our third team's from Fife.
23:12They're uncle and niece, Jim Isart and Pauline Reid.
23:19Hello.
23:21Hello.
23:23Right, they're fair and you like this bit.
23:25Fine.
23:25Now, it's Pauline.
23:27Yes.
23:27Pauline Reid.
23:28Are you good?
23:28Yes, very good.
23:29Oh, oh, good.
23:30I'll have a good read.
23:30Um, you came third in a beauty contest in the south of France.
23:35That's right.
23:36In 1985.
23:37Yes.
23:37Wonderful.
23:38That must have been a thrill, was it?
23:39Well, it was at the time, but the next night, the winners of the beauty contest had to judge
23:43the Noblinese contest, the men's Noblinese contest, I feel.
23:47Oh, that's right.
23:48Now, then.
23:49Oh, no.
23:52We'll see how good you are.
23:53Right.
23:54OK, Rosie Blindfolder.
23:58Blindfolder.
23:58Now, you're going to tell which is my knee, after you're going to touch four knees, I want
24:03you to pick out my one.
24:04Right.
24:04OK, five.
24:12OK, right.
24:13Hands ready?
24:15OK, right, this is your first knee.
24:16Have a good feel.
24:21OK, have a good feel.
24:23Right, second knee.
24:25There you go.
24:25Go on, have a go.
24:27Right, onto your third one.
24:34OK.
24:35Right, fourth knee.
24:37OK.
24:39Just give me a slight.
24:42Which out of the four knees did you think was Bruce's knee?
24:44The third one.
24:45The third one.
24:46Can we have the third one?
24:47OK.
24:48There we go.
24:51And.
24:51You were right, actually.
24:57Actually, it was the first of the thing.
24:58And every time you squealed, that was my knee.
25:01Anyway, thank you, Richard Cowkin.
25:03By the way, the merengue champion of East Hampstead.
25:07Do you remember the other week, Richard?
25:09That was our record.
25:14Anyway, over now to your ankle.
25:16Yeah.
25:16Jim.
25:18Isaac.
25:19Isaac.
25:19Isaac, I see.
25:20And you're a maintenance engineer.
25:22And your girlfriend is Margaret Duffy.
25:24That's her.
25:24Duffy.
25:25God damn it.
25:25I bet she'll be glad to get rid of that.
25:27Mind you, what was your name again?
25:29Isaac.
25:29Isaac.
25:30Oh, she hasn't got much of a choice.
25:32I'd rather be a Duffy than an Isaac.
25:34Anyway, you met her in a nightclub as she was passing.
25:37Was that passing or passing out?
25:38Passing out, I think.
25:39Yeah.
25:40You asked her what kind of food she ate on a Wednesday.
25:43And she said Italian Cantonese.
25:46What's that, sweet and sour spaghetti?
25:48I think so.
25:51Anyway, thank you, Jim, for being here.
25:53And thank you for liking my knees.
25:54I love you.
25:55I love it.
25:55Woo!
25:57Thank you very much.
25:58Here are you guys over there.
26:00Yeah, there's a telephone team for.
26:04They're from Cheshire.
26:05They're mother and son, Gene Davis and Jonathan Barker.
26:09Woo!
26:14Right, just there.
26:18Now, it's Gene Davis.
26:20Yes.
26:20And you're a part-time guide round the old hall at Tatton Park.
26:24Yes, that's right.
26:25Oh, is that National Trust?
26:26It is.
26:26Oh, if you can't trust them, you can't trust anybody, can you?
26:29Well, now, can you tell us in a little bit more detail about that?
26:32Yes.
26:32You guide the people round?
26:34That's right.
26:34We actually move through a period of time from 1500 to 1900.
26:38And we give demonstrations.
26:39Is that the hours you work?
26:40No.
26:41Oh, sorry.
26:42Oh, sorry.
26:42That's the history part.
26:43Yeah, the history part.
26:441500 to 1900.
26:45Yeah, medieval to Victorian.
26:46Sorry, that's all right.
26:47Medieval, yes.
26:48Yes, that's right.
26:49And we give demonstrations as well, like thrashing with a flail.
26:52Oh, really?
26:52And winnowing with wheat.
26:55Sounds a bit kinky.
26:57Right, now over to your son, Jonathan.
26:59Jonathan Barker.
27:01You're a sales rep for a greeting card company.
27:03Yeah.
27:03And you're single and your girlfriend is Catherine.
27:06That's right.
27:06You met when you were both in Agricultural College.
27:09Yeah, I was in Agricultural College.
27:10Agricultural College.
27:11Oh, yes.
27:14Playtime in the haystack.
27:18Way down yonder in the cornfield.
27:21By the way, what's it like in the back of a combine harvester?
27:24I don't know, Bruce.
27:26What's it like in the back of a combine harvester?
27:37Mind your own business.
27:38I didn't think you were going to come back with that.
27:43I hate him, right.
27:45Your mother arranged a stripper gram for your 21st birthday.
27:49She did, yes.
27:50Really?
27:51Did you do that?
27:52Well, I thought she was 21.
27:54You should know about these things.
27:55Well, that's true.
27:56He certainly did after that.
27:58Well, on my last birthday, I didn't have a stripper gram.
28:01I had a stripper gram.
28:03She must have been 75 if she was a dad.
28:07Oh, my goodness.
28:08And she did the dance of the seven corsets.
28:10Oh, and we all kept shouting, keep them on, keep them on.
28:15It didn't make any difference.
28:16She was deaf as well.
28:17I think her name was Vera.
28:19Oh, she's going.
28:26Right, good news.
28:27Right, I'll see you pop over there.
28:29Thank you for being here.
28:30We've got a game for you coming up right ago.
28:32Yes.
28:33Yeah, then.
28:34We're ready for our next game, which is called Footnotes.
28:39Now, you are going to love this.
28:41You really will.
28:42And for this next game, we're very grateful to Kim Presswood from Torquay for his unique
28:47invention, the Bigfoot piano.
28:50Now, no, this is not Mick Jagger's mouth organ.
28:57It's the Bigfoot piano.
28:58Now, who better to demonstrate this lovely musical item than Ford and Forsyth?
29:05It's the Bigfoot piano.
29:55That's all these two.
29:56OK, the first two just come here, and the second two where you go round the back so
30:00you can't see or hear anything.
30:03OK.
30:04Now, you're not going to do the same tune that we did, because that is a little bit
30:07difficult, but who wants to go first?
30:09She does.
30:10You want to go?
30:11OK, first you go in here.
30:13Now, as you'll see, there are the numbers, OK, of the notes, and there's the numbers for
30:18your music.
30:19You do the first bit, you be the second bit.
30:21You've got to use both feet.
30:22So up you go, and afterwards I'm going to ask you what tune you actually played.
30:27OK, here we go, off you go.
30:30Right.
30:33Now, go on, both feet.
30:34Let's go on.
30:36Let's see.
30:42Yes, we went too far, but never mind.
30:44That's the first bit.
30:45Come down here.
30:47Now, there's your second bit there.
30:48Here we are.
30:49Go on.
30:49Good, good.
31:00Now, now.
31:03What do you think you played?
31:06Do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do.
31:10What is it?
31:11What is it?
31:12It's Little Brown Jack.
31:16OK, but you may lose a point just because you didn't know the name.
31:19But well done, indeed.
31:20Send the other two in, if you will.
31:22Rosemary?
31:23Who's going to go first?
31:24Who wants to go first?
31:26Do you want to go first?
31:27All right, you can go first.
31:28OK, fine.
31:29Now then, here are the numbers on the notes, OK?
31:32There are the numbers for your music.
31:34You do the first bit.
31:36When it gets to the end of the first bit, then you do the second bit.
31:39Off you go.
31:39Fine.
31:39Go on.
31:42Good, good.
31:51Very good.
31:52Very good.
31:53OK.
31:54Then you take the second part down there.
31:56Both feet.
32:04That's it.
32:05There's that note going again.
32:09Very good.
32:10Yes.
32:10Now then, what tune did you play?
32:16Ha, ha, ha, he, he, he, he.
32:17Little Brown Jack, don't I love that?
32:18Little Brown Jack, very good.
32:20Very good indeed.
32:21OK.
32:22If you talk all right, that's it.
32:24Come back here.
32:24Don't worry about the notes.
32:26That's it.
32:26Fine.
32:26Come in here.
32:27Now then, to mark this, we have author, astronomer, TV presenter, and part-time master of the
32:35xylophone, please welcome Patrick Moore.
32:38Oh, thank you.
32:39Oh, thank you.
32:40Oh, thank you.
32:41Oh, thank you.
32:43Oh, thank you.
32:44Oh, thank you.
32:45Oh, thank you.
32:45Come right in here.
32:47Come right in here.
32:48Is it really true that you've been doing Sky at Night for 34 years for the BBC?
32:5534 and a half, actually.
32:56Oh, sorry, sorry.
32:57No, I think you did very well indeed.
33:00It was a very close thing, really.
33:01It was close.
33:02But on the first heel, um...
33:03First heel over here, yes.
33:04Yes, but, um, Pauline, I would give, um, I think I've marked it rather severely.
33:08I would not give Pauline five, I think.
33:10Yes.
33:10And I could certainly give Jim six.
33:11They're both very good.
33:12Very good.
33:12Of course, you didn't, unfortunately, know the tune.
33:14No.
33:15Rather pity.
33:15I think you've knocked one off.
33:16They sang it.
33:17They sang it, but they didn't know.
33:18Yes, knocked one off.
33:19Well, you sang it too, Bruce.
33:20Yes, I did, yes.
33:21But how did you manage to change key three times in five notes?
33:25I have lessons from Des O'Connor.
33:32No, I think it was Jim and Jonathan.
33:33Yes.
33:34And I thought they were very good indeed.
33:35I think Gene started off beautifully.
33:37It was a slight stumble toward the end, but nevertheless, you did very well.
33:39And I would give you seven.
33:40And, um, I think Jonathan, I think really Jonathan was the absolute star of the show.
33:44He really did extremely well.
33:44He pranced up and down those keyboards.
33:46And it really was absolutely amazing.
33:47And I give him eight.
33:48Oh!
33:49Well, there are your marks, and thank you.
33:57And by the way, we've put that little, uh, that little instrument in the back of your
34:01car, and, uh, if we could have these.
34:04Very well.
34:04And you can practice when you get home, because I'm sure it'll be a lovely little toy for
34:08Christmas for you.
34:09Thank you so much.
34:09All right, fine.
34:10Thank you, Patrick Moore.
34:12Oh, yes.
34:13Thank you, sir.
34:13Thank you, sir.
34:14Thank you, sir.
34:14Thank you, sir.
34:15Thank you, sir.
34:16Thank you, sir.
34:16Thank you, sir.
34:17Thank you, sir.
34:17Thank you, sir.
34:17Thank you, sir.
34:18Thank you, sir.
34:20Well, what's on the keyboard, Ms. Ford?
34:23Well, Pauline and Jim have scored 11.
34:25Jean and Jonathan have scored 15.
34:27Oh, poor in it.
34:30Oh, poor in it.
34:31Always in love.
34:33Next game is called TV Ad.
34:36Now, you're going to hear the music from some well-known commercials.
34:39What we want you to do is mime to your partner the product being advertised.
34:44So which one of you over here, first of all, which one would know more about the TV ads and
34:50the music in the commercials?
34:51Yeah.
34:52Yeah.
34:53You would know more about that?
34:54Yeah, I'll mime.
34:54He'll do it.
34:55You'll do it.
34:55So you get on there.
34:56Fine.
34:57Now, which one out of you two would know more about the commercial?
34:59You'll get...
35:00Okay.
35:00So you get on the little thing there.
35:01You get to your lecterns over there.
35:04I'll come to this one and put on your headphones.
35:07Let's do it.
35:12Are we ready?
35:14Can't hear what I'm saying.
35:15No, you've got some music.
35:16Yeah, yeah, no.
35:17Put it on.
35:19You've got music going on there?
35:20Fine.
35:20Music?
35:21Same over there.
35:21I can't hear music, that's all.
35:23Hear, hear music.
35:23Good.
35:24She's talking.
35:26It does make you talk louder, doesn't it?
35:29Right.
35:29Okay.
35:30Could we have product number one, please?
35:34Do something else.
35:40Do something else as well.
35:42What's it all about?
35:52Okay.
35:54Write down something.
35:55Have you got an answer?
35:57The answer is bread.
35:58Hovis, of course.
36:00What have you got over there?
36:01Bread.
36:01Bread.
