Today's contestants are Alan & Helen McConachie from North Wales, Pat Disley & Matt Bidel from West Suffolk & the Isle of Wight, Sue Marsden & Jed Morley from Lancashire, and Maurice & Ann O'Connell from Glasgow. Bruce Forsyth and assistant Rosemary Ford help them through such games as "Master of the Mace", "Melon Modelling", Smooching Statues" and "Spot the Dog" before the final two pairs compete in a Merengie Dancing finale to bid for a place at the conveyor belt of prizes. And there's a very special guest demonstrating the dancing for Brucie - it's his own wife Wilnelia!

00:04And I wanna play the game with you
00:08Life can be terribly great
00:11If you don't play the game with two
00:15And I wanna play the game with you
00:30Hello! Well!
00:34Thank you very much, thank you, thank you
00:37Oh wow!
00:39What a wonderful, wonderful reception
00:42Do you know, I haven't heard applause like that since Maureen Lipman had a telephone disconnected
00:47Good evening ladies, gentlemen and children, nice to see you, to see you
00:52Nice!
00:53And by the way, I never say that to my next door neighbour
00:56He's such a snob because he's so rich
00:58Do you know, he's so rich, he hires Paul Gascoigne just to kick the dog out
01:03And what a day I had today
01:04You know, the electric cooker wouldn't work
01:06So I was two hours trying to fry a ration of bacon in the trouser press
01:11And that trouser press is going back first thing Monday morning
01:14Making my legs flat
01:19Speaking of legs, there's two on their way here right now
01:23Here she is, the lovely, the gorgeous, Rosemary Ford
01:26Oh!
01:27Oh!
01:28Oh!
01:29Oh!
01:30Oh!
01:32Oh!
01:33Oh my darling
01:35There you are
01:37Now
01:39Roseby, you've done it again, you look breathtaking
01:42Oh, thank you Bruce
01:43You see, I want to look my best tonight because my boyfriend's in the audience
01:46Oh, a very charming young man
01:48Oh, I think so
01:49Yeah, pity about the name
01:51Look, he can't help his name
01:53Well I ask you, what kind of a name is Shadrach Nottol?
01:56Look, the name's unimportant, it really doesn't
02:00Do you realise if you marry him you'll become Rosemary Nottol?
02:04Well it's unimportant
02:05All right, all right
02:06But don't blame me, don't blame me if you have a little pine
02:09Oh!
02:11Oh!
02:14Look, the important thing is that he's a very charming and considerate person
02:18Oh yes, I remember you told me about your first date
02:20Well, I never forget our first date
02:22Yes, he walked you home
02:23Yes
02:24His teeth flashed in the moonlight
02:26Yes
02:27Oh, he didn't, oh they didn't bite you on the big toe, did they?
02:33What did they do there?
02:34Tell me, what does he do for a living, this guy like yours?
02:36Oh, he's a physiologist
02:38Physiologist?
02:40He puts the bubbles into lemonade
02:43Oh, that was funny, don't blame me if you have a little pine
02:50I thought that was a very funny one, I really did
02:54Now, just introduce the team
02:57All right
02:59I thought I told you I'd get it
03:01You just introduce the teams because you're good at that
03:03Okay, I'll get the laughs
03:04Okay, when they're there, I'll be trying for them
03:07Straight to camera 2 like always
03:09This is a big night, go for it kid, go for it
03:12Right, our first teams from North Wales
03:15Their father and daughter, Alan and Helen McConaughey
03:17Oh
03:18Oh
03:19Oh
03:23All right, that's it
03:24Thank you
03:25Thank you
03:26Thank you
03:28Well, Helen, you're single
03:31Yeah
03:32But you do have a boyfriend and he's called Stuart Garnish
03:34Yep
03:35That's an unusual name
03:37That's true, Garnish
03:39So he knows all the finishing touches
03:41I'm going to miss a while
03:42Oh, you have a cat called Harley Davidson
03:44Harley-Davidson? Yeah. That's a motorbike, isn't it? American motorbike? Very fast, yeah.
03:49Oh, don't tell me. I know why you call him Harley-Davidson. Because when you let him
03:52out at night, he goes, Me-ya!
04:00Don't blame me. If you have a little pine.
04:06Yes, could be one of those nights. Right, okay. Oh, now you work, you work for Dormy.
04:11They're the hire people, hire the clothes out, don't they? Yeah, because I used to go to your firm for my
04:17ascot outfit, before I could afford to buy one, you know. Yes, oh, yeah, in 1978, I left a packet of
04:24polos. Have you still got them? Oh, good, she's quick, right. Now, what does your work entail at Dormy?
04:32I measure people up. Oh, you measure? Oh, do you? Oh, would you measure me?
04:39Measure what?
04:41That's the end of that. You were going to get ten minutes of me. Now, you haven't got any now.
04:55You'll regret that for the rest of your life. Right, over now to your dad, okay, who is Alan.
05:00Correct, yeah. And you're a heavy goods vehicle driver. Yes.
05:02Yeah, okay. And you deliver castor oil.
05:07Is that like a castor oil? Oh, castor oil!
05:12Castor oil! It's a new typist, you see. Oh, isn't it a shame?
05:15Not the job. Anyway, I was going to say castor oil, delivering castor oil. I was going to say how many runs you make a week.
05:27I won't bother now. You're married to Sally. Yes.
05:29And she's an overhead crane driver? Is that right? Correct, she is, yes.
05:33An overhead crane driver? 60 foot off, yeah.
05:37Really? That must have been handy on the wedding night.
05:41Anyway, she picked you up in the first place.
05:42She did, yeah.
05:43Now, you say, you're one of those people who aren't really bad at anything, but not really good either.
05:52Oh, that sums me up, yeah.
05:53Yeah, well, I'll make a note of that.
05:56Useless.
06:01Your hobby is motorcycling. Oh, like the Harley Davidson.
06:04Oh, is that where it all came from? Any motorcycling stories at all?
06:08Well, a very embarrassing one, a couple of years ago. Yes.
06:11It was with Sally in France, and I always put a security chain through the wheel, you know, when I park it, so that nobody could...
06:18Oh, good idea. Chained it to...
06:20And then we went off and came back, and posed by the bike, made a few, jumped on it, helmets, forgot about the chain.
06:26Yeah. And the bike went about from here to the island.
06:30You went, you went, ah, I mean, you went, you went derriere over tet.
06:38Excuse my French.
06:40Oh, well, it's lovely to have you here. It really is. You look a lovely couple.
06:43And if you would just go over there, we'll meet the people who are going to play a bit.
06:47OK?
06:50Who are they?
06:52Our second team's from West Sussex and the Isle of Wight.
06:55Their aunt and nephew, Pat Disley and Matt Bedell.
06:59Right.
07:00Who are they?
07:01Who are they?
07:02Who are they?
07:03Who are they?
07:04Who are they?
07:05Who are they?
07:06Who are they?
07:07Who are they?
07:08Who are they?
07:09Who are they?
07:10That's fine.
07:11Now, Pat Disley, you're a secretary.
07:12That's right.
07:13And you're married to Alan.
07:14And how did you meet?
07:15What was the...
07:16What was the attraction?
07:17Well, actually, we met almost for a bet, because I used to wear very short skirts.
07:21It was the days of the Mini.
07:22Oh, the days of the Mini, yes.
07:23And I had a very short-stayed coat on, and his workmates bet him that he wouldn't ask
07:28me for a date to see if I had a skirt on.
07:30Oh, they didn't know whether you had a skirt on underneath?
07:32No.
07:33Oh, I see.
07:34So what did he say?
07:35If you've got nothing on next Wednesday, I'd like to see it.
07:38So glad.
07:39Now, you say here you'd like to meet Harry Hamlin and Jimmy Smits of L.A. Law.
07:44Oh, yes.
07:45Oh, I love that.
07:46That's my favourite programme.
07:47I love that programme.
07:48Why?
07:49Why would you like to meet them?
07:50Oh, I don't think I could say on television.
07:52Oh, really?
07:53You might be needing Arlie Becker.
07:55Why are you all going on?
07:56No.
07:57You've broken my dream, you know.
07:58Oh, really?
07:59Because I dreamt last night of Grace Van Owen, you know, the blonde girl.
08:02Oh, isn't she gorgeous?
08:03Oh.
08:04Isn't she lovely?
08:05And I said, Grace, was I grateful for what I was about to receive?
08:08I think we're ready now, so if you'd just pop back there, we're ready for...
08:14Oh, no, sorry, I haven't said hello to you.
08:16That would have been dreadful.
08:18That would have been dreadful.
08:19I'm sorry about that.
08:20And you're Matt Bedell.
08:22That's right.
08:23Bedell.
08:24You get fed up with people saying Beedle and Bedell and making a little bit of...
08:27Yes.
08:28Yeah.
08:29Alright, well, I'll just call you Matt.
08:30Right.
08:31Here we are.
08:32Welcome, Matt.
08:34Pat and Matt.
08:35Pat and Matt.
08:36Pat and Matt.
08:37Pat and Matt.
08:38Pat and Matt.
08:39Pat and Matt.
08:40Pat and Matt.
08:41Sound like a children's show.
08:42Right.
08:43And your main hobby is karate.
08:44That's all right.
08:45I've heard of the karate kid.
08:46You must be the karate man.
08:47Er...
08:48Well, if I'm going too fast, I will say that.
08:51You can make one or both of your ears waggle.
08:55Is that right?
08:56Yes.
08:57Can you do this to music?
08:58Into camera two?
08:59To music.
09:00Camera two, yeah.
09:01Is that right?
09:02Right.
09:03Cue music.
09:04That was absolutely marvellous.
09:22You've certainly warmed them up.
09:24Okay.
09:25Thank you, Pat.
09:26Over there, because I think we'll be ready now for game one.
09:28Okay.
09:29Now, before we get to game one, I'd like to mention that none of our contestants tonight know what is going to be asked of them.
09:36They do not rehearse.
09:38This is their rehearsal.
09:42Our first game is called Master of the Mace, and he certainly is a very talented young man.
09:47Let's welcome Master Colin Roberts.
09:50Yes.
09:56Thank you, Dan.
09:57Thank you, Dan,
09:58Thank you, Greg.
10:00Good dinner.
10:01Thank you all.
10:02Thank you, Dan.
11:04Oh, absolutely, absolutely marvellous.
11:11How long have you been throwing up?
11:14How long have you been mace throwing?
11:16About nine years now.
11:17Nine years, and you were the champion of Wales from 1983 to 1987.
11:22Is that correct?
11:22That's right.
11:23Absolutely marvellous.
11:23But you don't do any competitions now?
11:25No, I finished about four years ago to concentrate on my exams, but...
11:29Oh, what are your exams for?
11:30Doing a degree in German.
11:31In German?
11:32In German, yes.
11:33Oh, with a Welsh accent.
11:34With a Welsh accent, yeah.
11:34Okay, can you say in German, nice to see you, to see you, nice?
11:40Net, Suzanne, Suzanne, net.
11:41It's not so warm and friendly, is it?
11:52I'm glad I'm not a superstar in Germany.
11:55Anyway, thank you for being with us.
11:57Will you do some marking for us?
11:58Certainly, yes.
11:59Connie, you're a charmer.
12:00Over here.
12:00Okay, fine.
12:01Now, the first one on.
12:03Okay.
12:03Now, darling, when you throw this up, be careful.
12:05Don't knock yourself on the head with this, okay?
12:07Because it could be a bit nasty, but, no, have a bit of protection.
12:12A bit of protection.
12:13You can throw it where you like.
12:14All right.
12:15Now, I will shout out your instructions, so follow my instructions, okay?
12:19Yep.
12:19And don't forget, all the way through it, showmanship, the way Colin did.
12:23Real showmanship.
12:24Okay.
12:25Can we have cue music?
12:27Right.
12:2712, 12, 12.
12:34Keep going, keep going.
12:35That's it, lovely, lovely.
12:37Now with the right hand, right hand.
12:39Now with the left hand.
12:40Round the back, round the neck.
12:41Keep smiling, keep smiling.
12:43Round the neck.
12:44That's it, round the neck again.
12:46Under the legs, under the legs.
12:48Between the legs.
12:49Between the legs, yeah.
12:50Between the legs, that's it.
12:51Between the legs.
12:53Good.
12:53Lovely, lovely.
12:54Good, now the big finish, the big finish.
12:56Get rid of the big finish.

13:03Okay, there you go.
13:06In you come.
13:08All right then, follow my instructions.
13:10Okay, and keep smiling all the time.
13:14Maybe you shouldn't bother, but here we go.
13:16Cue music, here we go.
13:17Right.
13:19That's it.
13:20Oh, that's good.
13:22Other hand, other hand.
13:25Yep.
13:26Very good.

13:28Right, now, behind the neck, behind the neck.
13:31Good.
13:32You have the neck.
13:36You're going to get it.
13:37They're lovely.

13:39Between the legs.
13:40Good.
13:41That's it.
13:42Good.

13:45Oh!
13:46That's it.
13:46Okay, the big finish.
13:47Coming up, the big finish.
13:49Straight in the air and catch it.
13:50Oh!
13:51Done.
13:51Oh!
13:56Okay, here we come.
13:58All right, Pat.
13:59Are you ready?
14:00All the way, I'll be with you.
14:03Here we go.
14:03Cue music.
14:04Right.
14:04In front of you.
14:06Good.
14:06Lovely.
14:07Keep smiling.
14:08Keep smiling.
14:09That's it.
14:09Lovely.
14:10With the other hand.
14:11The other hand.
14:13Round the back of the neck.
14:14Round the back of the neck.
14:15Back of the neck.
14:17That's it.
14:17Back of the neck again.
14:18Good.
14:19Between the legs, then.
14:20Between the legs.
14:22Oh, be careful.
14:23Be careful.
14:24Go on.
14:25Between the legs again.
14:26I like it.
14:26I like it.
14:27Between the legs.
14:28Okay, now the big finish.
14:29Get ready.
14:30And throw that.
14:31Throw that.
14:32Hey!
14:33Yuppo!
14:35Beautiful.
14:35Martin.
14:36Lovely Martin.
14:37Go to the middle.
14:39Here we go, Matt.
14:40Okay, I'll cue you all the way.
14:41Don't worry about a thing.
14:42Cue music.
14:43Off we go.
14:43Yes.
14:43That's it.
14:48Good, good.
14:49Lovely.
14:50Now the other hand.
14:51The other hand.
14:51The other hand.
14:52Left hand.
14:53Okay, left hand.
14:54Now the right hand.
14:55Good.
14:56Down the back of the neck.
14:57Back of the neck.
14:58Down the back of the neck.
14:59Good.
15:00Very good.
15:00Very good.
15:01Down the back of the neck.

15:03Between the legs.
15:04That's it.
15:05Now between the legs.
15:09Okay.
15:09Get ready for the big finish.
15:10Really high.
15:11Really high up in there.
15:13Hey!
15:14Yippee!
15:17Come on, Matt.
15:20Lovely, lovely.
15:22Well done.
15:23And Colin, come in here.
15:25Well, they certainly did a few tricks I don't think you could do.
15:27That was.
15:29Excellent.
15:29Come in nice and close, all of you.
15:30First of all, we want the marks from you.
15:33But they all did well, didn't they?
15:34Oh, it was excellent.
15:35It's obvious they've done it before.
15:35What do you think about Alan?
15:37Oh, obviously they've done it before.
15:38Yeah, they've done it before.
15:39What do you think?
15:40The march in the beginning was brilliant.
15:42Yep.
15:42The way he marched up and down.
15:43Yeah, exactly.
15:44So what do you think?
15:44Eight out of ten.
15:46Yes, and he was marching up and down.
15:47Oh, got it.
15:50And how about Helen here?
15:51Oh, well, I like that she kept smiling throughout the time.
15:54She did.
15:54No matter what happens, she kept smiling.
15:56Yeah, and I liked her marching as well, so I think I'll give her seven out of ten.
15:59A seven out of ten.
16:00Well done.
16:02And what about her hat here?
16:04Well, I thought the marching and the wiggling while she was marching was brilliant.
16:08Yes, she kept the wiggling going.
16:10The wiggling was good.
16:11The timing was great, so I'll give her eight out of ten.
16:13Eight out of ten as well, Carl.
16:15Lovely.
16:17And what about Matt there?
16:19Well, he liked to rush his moves, I thought.
16:21Yes.
16:21He was trying to get it over, but as soon as he could.
16:25So I think I'll give him six out of ten.
16:26Six out of ten for Matt.
16:28All right.
16:28And thank you very much for going, Carl, and good luck for your degree.
16:32You deserve to get it.
16:33You're a very hard worker.
16:34Thank you, Colin Roberts there.
16:36Good.
16:37Lovely.
16:39Okay.
16:40What's on the board, Miss Ford?
16:42Well, Helen and Alan have scored 15.
16:45Pat and Matt have scored 14.
16:47Oh, so there's only one in it.
16:49Only one in.
16:50Okay.
16:51Our next game is called Melon Modelling.
16:54So if you'll all just pop over there.
16:56Not over there.
16:57What are you looking at?
16:58Over there.
16:59Okay, but first of all, feast your eyes on this.
17:04Now, that is very beautiful, but wait until I tell you that even the flowers at the back
17:08are all cut out of fruit.
17:11And I think there's a little round of applause all of the time.
17:16Beautiful.
17:17One of the best displays we ever had.
17:19And to show this very unique craft, we welcome now Jenny Sue Lee Cook.
17:25There you are.
17:25Hello, Jenny.
17:29How are you?
17:30Well, I did get it right.
17:32Is Jenny Sue Lee...
17:34Does it mean you're a cook or is your name Jenny Sue Lee Cook?
17:38I'm a cook and my surname is Cook.
17:40Oh, your surname is Cook and you are a cook.
17:42Okay.
17:43Now, there are so many different ways, of course, to cut a melon.
17:46You know, I used to dig a hole in it and suck it out.
17:49But, um, I'm just, I'm just, I'm a terrible when I eat.
17:55I'm dreadful like that.
17:56But anyway, the way you do it is so novel.
17:58So, will you just show us and will everybody come in nice and close so that you can see
18:02what's going on?
18:03Okay.
18:04Okay.
18:05And Jenny will explain as she goes along as well.
18:07Off you go.
18:08Okay.
18:08Just, uh, just take a bit off the bottom or the base.
18:13Extend the melon like that.
18:15And then on top, just make a little nick.
18:18Just a little nicks, these, Alice.
18:19Like this, yeah.
18:20Okay.
18:21And be careful when we do get you to do this.
18:23Yes, because these knives are quite sharp.
18:25So, although we'll be saying to you, you know, we want you to hurry up.
18:29We don't want you to hurt yourselves.
18:31So, I can't stress that too strongly.
18:32And then, oh, you do that.
18:34Turn the miller to the side.
18:35I'll turn it on the side and do the same kind of little nicks again.
18:38That's right.
18:39So, once you've done one, you can do the others.
18:41I'm not going to tell you what she's going to make until we've finished.
18:44I think we'll save that as a surprise.
18:46Shall we, Jenny?
18:47And then again, same on the other side.
18:49That side as well.
18:50Yeah.
18:50But as I keep saying, be careful of the knife with your money.
18:54Yes, because I've taken bits off my finger.
18:56Have you done it yourself?
18:58Yes.
18:58Oh, dear.
18:59Yes.
18:59Because they usually put port in the middle of lemon, don't they?
19:03Sometimes it must be blood, I suppose.
19:07In my case, yes.
19:08Where the fellow's cut his own.
19:10So, now I'm just taking the head.
19:12Oh, we're doing the head now, are we?
19:14Yes.
19:14Yes.
19:14This will give you a little clue as to what.
19:16What do you think Jenny's making?
19:19Any idea?
19:20Any idea?
19:21Just let your imagination run a while.
19:22Just let your imagination.
19:24You'll see in a moment.
19:25Just take a little bit.
19:25Now, this is a very delicate thing.
19:27Be very careful there again.
19:28Okay.
19:29Now, this is the...
19:29Now, watch this.
19:30Just push the pieces out.
19:32Just watch that.
19:33Look.
19:34There.
19:35Isn't that beautiful?
19:36I hope you're all doing this at home.
19:39And make a little...
19:40Just a little hole there.
19:43And there we have a swan.
19:46Now, a swan.
19:47Now, just a little...
19:48Isn't that incredible?
19:52Absolutely.
19:53It is so beautiful.
19:55You're so wonderful.
19:57So, will you come back to do some marking?
19:59Okay, off you go there.
20:01And if you two come over here, you come to the first one here.
20:04That's lovely, Helen.
20:05And you over there, Alan.
20:06Good.
20:07You've got about a minute and a half to make beautiful swans starting from now.
20:16That's a good start.
20:18Very good, Helen.
20:19Good start.
20:21Yes, they're all paying attention.
20:23Be careful, darling.
20:24You don't use knives very often, do you?
20:26Obsidian.
20:26Okay.
20:28Just...
20:28Yeah, take it easy.
20:30That's good.
20:30What you're doing is good.
20:32And that's very neat as well, Matt.
20:34Very good.
20:35Yes.
20:36Very neat.
20:37That's it.
20:39Fan the wings.
20:40Fan the wings.
20:42And try and get the neck in.
20:46Fan your wings, Alan.
20:47If you can find your wings, fan them.
20:53Okay.
20:54Oh, yours are fanning very nicely, dear.
20:56I don't know what she's doing over here, poor Pat.
20:59Okay.
21:01She's trying to dig it out.
21:03I said fan them, not dig them out.
21:06That's very good.
21:07Very good, Matt.
21:08Excellent.
21:09Should be getting the head on now, yes?
21:12Should be getting your head on now, please.
21:14Cut the head off.
21:15Oh.
21:16Oh.
21:16All right.
21:17Okay.
21:18Yes, if you've got a head, stick it in there.
21:20If you've got a head, stick it in there.
21:22All right.
21:24All right, Julie.
21:25Would you like to come back and do some marking?
21:27Okay.
21:28There we are.
21:30So just stand round the side here.
21:34And...
21:34There we are.
21:35Okay.
21:36This is his effort.
21:37That was his head that he never got to.
21:39It goes over there.
21:40Yes, Chinese hat.
21:43A kubi hat.
21:44A kubi hat.
21:45A kubi hat.
21:45There we are.
21:46But the fan, he was very nice.
21:48He got off to a very good start.
21:49Yes, he's got the cuts.
21:49And given a little bit more time, we'd have had the head in there.
21:53What do you think?
21:54Well, five, I think.
21:55Five out of ten.
21:56Okay.
21:57All right.
21:57We're going to even get the hair done.
21:58Here we are.
22:00Well, she did quite well here.
22:02Let's turn it sideways so that we can have a look at this.
22:05It's only a little head.
22:06It's more like a pregnant duck.
22:12Yes.
22:12But there we are.
22:13But you did this very well at the back here.
22:15Look, I mean, look at that.
22:15Oh, the fanny is very good.
22:16It's lovely.
22:17Yes, yes.
22:17What do you think?
22:19Six.
22:19Six.
22:20Six out of ten.
22:21Well done, you did.
22:22Whatever.
22:23Oh, dear.
22:25Pat got into us terrible.
22:26I mean, look at all this.
22:28I mean, look.
22:29I didn't know where they're talking about the dying swan.
22:31I think it's left us, I mean, look, I mean, God, what can you do with anything?
22:37I mean, it wasn't your kind of a game, was it, Pat?
22:39Sorry about that.
22:40But what do you think?
22:42Well, four for trying.
22:44Yeah, for standing there.
22:46Okay.
22:46Bad luck, Pat.
22:47Bad luck.
22:49Now, this.
22:50Very, very neat.
22:50I thought you didn't get a chance to fan this one out.
22:53Yes.
22:53But you see, you did very well there.
22:55The head is very good, too.
22:57Very neat.
22:57It was very neat.
22:58Very neat.
22:59You've got to make somebody a very nice wife.
23:01Yes, I think eight.
23:04Eight for that.
23:05Yes, I think.
23:05Good.
23:06Good.
23:08Yes, Sherry.
23:09Sherry, thank you so much.
23:10And the display is something you'll never forget.
23:13Thank you so much.
23:14All right, in we come.
23:15Everybody back in the city here.
23:18Well, thank you.
23:20You've got to have a lot of fun.
23:22All right.
23:23Well, what's on the board, Miss Ford?
23:25Well, Helen and Alan have scored 26.
23:2826?
23:28Pat and Matt have also scored 26.
23:3126?
23:32A tiebreaker.
23:34Oh!
23:35A tiebreaker.
23:37All right, now, he's the first one to answer the question.
23:39I must have a correct answer.
23:40All right, tiebreaker.
23:42Here we go.
23:42If Christmas Day falls on a Wednesday, what day of the week is January the 3rd?
23:50Friday.
23:51Right.
23:52You're right, Matt.
23:52Very good.
23:54Well done.
23:56That was sick.
23:57She's a student.
23:59Oh!
23:59Well, I'm sorry we lose you two.
24:01I really am.
24:02But you'll be getting a Generation Game telephone, with our love, to keep in touch.
24:06Phone me every day if you want to, if you need to.
24:08And we'll see you in our grand final, which is coming up very, very soon.
24:12Thank you so much.
24:13And bad luck.
24:14Bad luck.
24:16All right.
24:18Good luck.
24:19Well, now, who have we got left?
24:22Our third team's from Lancashire.
24:25Their mother-in-law and son-in-law, Sue Marsden and Jed Moyes.
24:30All right.
24:31Come on.
24:32All right.
24:34How are you?
24:35Good.
24:36Stand up here, let's go.
24:38Now, Sue Marsden, three times you've been married.
24:41Is that right?
24:42My goodness.
24:43You say you're footloose and fancy free.
24:46Yeah.
24:47God, blimey.
24:48You haven't worn your shoes much.
24:49What?
24:49What kind of husband are you looking for now, for a change?
24:55For a change?
24:56Yes.
24:56Oh, let me think.
24:57A 90-year-old millionaire with a heart defect.
25:02Well, if there are any 90-year-old millionaires with a heart defect looking in, what better way to go?
25:10What sort of men don't you like?
25:14Men who wear baggy white underpants.
25:17Baggy white underpants.
25:19Why, why?
25:20They turn me off.
25:21They turn you off?
25:22Um, what do you like, then?
25:24Uh, what do I like?
25:25My back tickled.
25:27Oh, do you?
25:27Yeah.
25:28Anything else?
25:28Discos.
25:29Discos?
25:30Yeah.
25:30Oh, yeah.
25:30So if there's any 90-year-old millionaires with a heart defect, who don't wear baggy white
25:39knickers, like going to discos in Blackpool, leave immediately.
25:47Right, over now to your son-in-law.
25:50It's Jed, is it?
25:51Yes, please.
25:51Jed, how are you?
25:52Okay, and you're a postman?
25:53Yes.
25:54Oh, yeah, you should have been on the show last year.
25:56Why?
25:56But we only got your letter last week.
25:57Oh, yeah.
26:04Well, your wife, your wife is Amanda, and she's a checkout lady at a supermarket.
26:10Yes.
26:10Oh, yeah, so you get plenty of special offers.
26:12Your children, any children?
26:16Two.
26:16Two children, yes.
26:17Two girls, that's it.
26:18Were you there, you know, when they were born?
26:20Yes, yeah.
26:20Oh, you were?
26:20I was there for the first one.
26:22Oh, for the first one?
26:22What happened?
26:23Well, it was a long labour for 36 hours in all.
26:2736 hours?
26:28Yes, yes, and I stayed there all the time.
26:31Did you really?
26:32Bless your heart.
26:33Good lad.
26:34And I didn't go out for any food, nothing.
26:36Didn't go out for any food?
26:37I found this tube of toothpaste.
26:39So I held it up, like, every 30 minutes or whatever, just keep on eating it, and eventually
26:44I finished the tube and I was looking at some more.
26:47You ate the whole tube?
26:49The full tube, yeah.
26:51Within the 36 hours, yeah.
26:52Yeah, I know, 36 hours, yeah.
26:54Well, I've heard of a fish paste sandwich, but never a toothpaste.
26:57It's not a bad idea, because I suppose while you're eating a toothpaste sandwich, you can
27:01eat it and clean your teeth at the same time.
27:03I just made myself laugh.
27:12Evidently.
27:13And, uh, so while she was pushing, you were squeezing.
27:19And I bet in the end you were both foaming at the mouth.
27:22Thank you very much for being here.
27:30If you'll pop over there, we'll be with you in a minute.
27:33All right, we'll see who you're going to play against.
27:35And, Rosemary, they are?
27:37Well, the fourth team's from Glasgow.
27:39Their father and daughter, Morris and Anne O'Connell.
27:43Okay.
27:45All right, all right.
27:46Nice to meet you.
27:53Okay, and it's Anne O'Connell.
27:55You're a supervisor for the Temp Help Service.
27:58That's right.
27:58And you are Anne, is that right?
28:00Yes.
28:00I don't want to be personal.
28:01You are Anne, with an E.
28:02Yes.
28:02You definitely have an E.
28:03Definitely.
28:04Do you get annoyed if the...
28:05Very annoyed.
28:05So do I.
28:06But for the other reason.
28:08You get annoyed if people take...
28:09I get annoyed if people an E on my name.
28:12Because it's F-O-R-S-Y-T-H, no E.
28:15Now, I don't mind if it's Bruce Forsythe, then a gap, then the E.
28:18Because then it's Bruce Forsythe, entertainer.
28:23All right.
28:24Now, you like men in blue jeans with ponytails.
28:30Is it really?
28:31Why is this?
28:32I don't know.
28:33I just think it's very attractive.
28:35Oh, you do?
28:36It sort of turns you on?
28:37Sort of.
28:38I'll make a note of that.
28:41Blue jeans with ponytails.
28:43Thanks.
28:45Wranglers with danglers.
28:50That's it.
28:51Yeah.
28:53Now, you are Morris.
28:54You're her father.
28:55Yes.
28:56Bad luck.
28:57Right.
28:58Well, you work for a computer company.
29:00I do.
29:00And everything's at your fingertips, of course.
29:01You're married to Kathy.
29:02You met her at the Ministry of Pensions.
29:04And you got engaged.
29:06How did you get engaged?
29:07Well, I proposed to her.
29:08Well, you'd normally do it.
29:17All right.
29:17Okay.
29:18One up to you.
29:20How did you engage?
29:21Well...
29:21Where and who with?
29:22And, you know, tell us.
29:23No, it's an old Scottish tradition to...
29:25Oh, an old Scottish tradition.
29:26Yeah.
29:26Oh, a Scottish tradition, yes.
29:27Not proposing, but the way you do it is to sort of take a half bottle of whiskey and
29:31go along.
29:31Oh, you take a half a bottle of whiskey?
29:33Mm-hmm.
29:33Oh, I see.
29:34And then ask her father for permission to marry her and drink the half bottle of whiskey.
29:37Oh, that's the old Scottish tradition.
29:38Of the old man, yes.
29:39Oh, yes.
29:40Was it a full miniature when you started?
29:44Think about that.
29:46Yes, I am as well.
29:47Right.
29:48Oh, your ambition is singing it as top of the bill at Sunday night at the Palladium.
29:52A bit late for that, I think.
29:53Yeah, but this isn't the Palladium, we can do the next best thing.
29:56Okay.
29:57When you get off there, and you get off, and I'll introduce you.
30:01Okay.
30:01We'll make a...
30:02What about San Francisco?
30:03Do you know that?
30:04San Francisco?
30:05Okay, fine.
30:06Just applause, everybody.
30:07Applause.
30:13Thank you, Luciano Pavarotti.
30:17He was a nice little Italian singer, wasn't he?
30:19Yeah, couldn't understand a word he sang about.
30:21But now, ladies and gentlemen, our top of the bill.
30:24The one and lonely, only, probably the greatest singer of our generation.
30:30What's your name, man?
30:32Maurice O'Connell.
30:35In here.
30:39My heart, the last bit.
30:43In San Francisco.
30:45The last bit, my heart, wait for it.
30:47Beyond the blue.
30:48Beyond the blue and the windy sea.
30:56When I come home to you.
30:57When I come home to you, San Francisco.
31:04Big sinish, big sinish.
31:05Your golden sun will shine for me.
31:13Oh, my God.
31:16How about it?
31:18Oh, my God.
31:19How?
31:20Oh, great.
31:23Oh, wonderful.
31:25How about it?
31:26Oh.
31:29Oh.
31:32We'll let you know.
31:34But don't hold your breath.
31:36Thank you so much.
31:36You're a sport.
31:37You really are a sport.
31:38Okay, now, our third game is called Smooching Statues.
31:43But first of all, feast your eyes on...
31:46We are there feasting their eyes on that already.
31:50There we are.
31:51It's, of course, Rodan's The Kiss.
31:55It could be called The Snog.
31:58Depends who you are and where you are and what you're doing, I suppose.
32:01But will you get up and come with me now?
32:04Okay.
32:04Just come with me and have your last look at the original.
32:09Okay?
32:09Just have your last look at your original over there.
32:13Okay?
32:14Because we don't want you to see that.
32:16Now, look, pay attention.
32:17All these bits stick together.
32:19So if you think this goes on there, you just stick it like that.
32:22See?
32:24They all stick together.
32:25So it's yours to find out.
32:27Away you go.
32:28It's as simple as that.
32:29You've got about a minute and a half or two days starting from now.
32:35Right.
32:37Off you go.
32:46Believe me, it all does fit.
32:49I was playing with this all last night.
32:50I hope you're playing with this atone.
33:14Well done.
33:14Oh, dear, oh, dear.
33:28Fifteen seconds.
33:36Fifteen seconds.
33:42Come on, stick something.
33:44At least stick it on.
33:45Stick it on.
33:47Can't stick it somewhere.
33:48Stick it on.
33:48Okay.
33:49Right.
33:50Time's up.
33:51Time's up.
33:51Ready up to start.
33:53All right.
33:54Stay here.
33:55Stay beside.
33:55Stay beside.
33:57That's it.
33:58In you come, Rosemary.
34:00I don't know about the kiss.
34:03This is more like...
34:03This is more like the morning after the night before.
34:08Right, but at least you got the body on very well.
34:13So I'm going to give you two points for the body.
34:16And actually, the head is...
34:18Two points for the head.
34:19Because the head is pretty good.
34:21And you've got a man's leg on a man's body.
34:23That's good.
34:24So you get another two points there.
34:26So you're doing very well.
34:27And this arm is good.
34:28That's another two points.
34:30So let's see what you did with her.
34:31Yes, you've got another arm on here.
34:33So another two points.
34:35Well done, indeed.
34:35She's slipped off a bit because...
34:38You see...
34:39She should be up a bit.
34:45But at least you've got a leg on her.
34:47And there...
34:47And a leg's on her there.
34:48So I think one point for each leg.
34:52Oh, yeah, and this arm.
34:53Yes, although you didn't get it round,
34:55it's one point because you didn't get it round his neck.
34:58Okay, but very good.
35:00I mean, look at this.
35:01Look at this.
35:02I mean, just a little whisper.
35:05Well, the head's on the body, the man's body,
35:17but it's facing the wrong way.
35:18And you've got a man's leg on a woman's...
35:20You know.
35:22So I don't know how to start this.
35:24You see, the body's in the wrong place.
35:25You're going to get anything for the body.
35:27You've got an arm here where a leg should be.
35:31You've got another leg there.
35:34You've got one leg...
35:35I'll give you two for that leg.
35:37Two for that leg.
35:39And, er...
35:40It's just...
35:42It's just a terrible mess.
35:44I mean, you don't get anything for a spare.
35:48Not in this thing.
35:49So I'm afraid that's all I can give you.
35:53I'll give you six.
35:58Sorry, darling.
35:59Sorry.
35:59That's it.
36:00Oh, okay.
36:01Two for that.
36:02Right.
36:02Sorry.
36:03All right.
36:04Okay.

43:32Oh, good.
43:33Well, you see, it's a very intimate dance, you see.
43:35And I didn't want you to think I was taking liberties.
43:37So I've asked my wife to come along tonight, you see.
43:40Because we do this dance in Puerto Rico all the time.
43:43And as I said before, it's a very intimate dance.
43:46And I didn't want you to think that I was coming on a bit strong.
43:50Oh, no, Bruce, of course.

44:41I can't do that.
44:42Why not?
44:43Paco is the merengue champion of the whole South America and Puerto Rico.
44:47But when we're in Puerto Rico, you always dance the merengue with me.
