00:00Happy last day of school to CMS. I feel like they're the last school district out.
00:04It's so true.
00:06Everybody's kind of out already. CMS gets out today. A lot of teachers are heading in. A lot
00:10of teachers are already in class this morning for your last day of school. I was talking to
00:14my buddy Sorelli yesterday. I've talked about him on the air. He was my go-to guy. If I wanted to
00:21get a laugh or do something kind of hellion in class, I would involve Sorelli into it.
00:27And then he reminded me that on our last day of school in seventh grade, he remembers
00:33this and I do too. Like at the last day of school, seventh grade, you kind of like just
00:37let loose, right? So our school like backed up a woods and during recess, we went into
00:42the woods and we got like giant sticks and then we brought the giant sticks back in. We
00:48were playing dinosaurs with the sticks, you know, making sounds and stuff. How old were
00:51you? He said seventh grade. So 11. Okay. Yeah. And, uh, uh, you know, we were battling
00:57and stuff. So we, so I said to Sorelli, go, let's bring them into class and see how quickly
01:01we get in trouble. With the intention of how quickly we get in trouble. Okay. I know we're
01:07going to get in trouble. And these giant sticks. So, and the story is going somewhere. So, so
01:12I walk into the school and Sorelli and I have these big sticks and Sorelli doesn't, we're not
01:17going to the class. Like he stops at a class before, like another teacher that we have,
01:21we rotated teachers and he opens the door and he puts a stick and he's like, like that
01:26throws the stick. Oh, so now it's not a projectile. And then closes the door. Okay. Well, you
01:33And I'm like, bro, what happened to the plan? We were going to bring the sticks to class to
01:36see if we get in trouble. And now you've done this. Now we're definitely in trouble. I
01:40drop my stick and start running. And that teacher comes out and he's like, Sorelli,
01:46Mamie, freeze, get back here. So we waltz back like with my head down. This is the last
01:53day of school. It's supposed to be the greatest day. You know, I got two weeks before summer
01:57school starts. I'm pumped. I didn't even do anything yet. You've got two weeks before summer
02:04school. So I got two weeks of vacation. I'm ready to hit it. And Sorelli ruins the plan.
02:10We end up in all day detention on the last day of school down in the resource room. They
02:17called it the R and R room. And we go down there and the vice princess was like, what
02:20did you idiots do? And I was like, he didn't stick to the plan. Regardless, we would be
02:25in here either way. But the plan would have been funnier. The teacher we were going back
02:30with was kind of funnier. You know, he would have been like, wait, and then at the very least
02:34I thought he would have said, take the sticks back. So then we could have gotten back out
02:37of class. But it all got ruined. And we ended up in detention for the day. So here's what
02:43we want to know from you guys. As we celebrate CMS Mecklenburg County school system. How did
02:48you get in trouble on the last day of school?
02:515704-570-9595 to be part of the Mania War on the Rim morning show.
02:57And to be fair, Cabarrus County gets out tomorrow.
02:59Okay. Well, they could participate as well.
03:01Totally.
03:02Have you seen the trend of the last day of school where everyone stands like in the hallway
03:08or the stairwell and they throw papers everywhere and it blankets the entire stairwell. It seems
03:15like something you would love, but I feel bad for the poor janitor that has to come after
03:20that.
03:21All right. We want to take your calls. How did you get in trouble on the last day of school?
03:25Did you end up in detention? Call us now.
03:28Last day of school. Did you get into trouble?
03:31If you did, what happened? 704-570-9595.
03:37Good morning, Linda in Charlotte. How are you?
03:40I'm great, thanks. How are you?
03:42Doing well. So the last day of school, what happened?
03:45So it wasn't me. It was my daughter. Great student. Perfect attendance. All that kind of stuff.
03:53Last day of high school. So she's graduating. She plays on a field hockey team. They won a trophy.
04:00They didn't care for their coach a whole lot. So her and a teammate snuck into their coach's office
04:04to steal that trophy and hide it. They got caught and ended up in detention on their very last day
04:13of high school. Very first detention, very last day of school.
04:18I love that she was kind of like a really good student, never in trouble, and she had one day to go.
04:24Mm-hmm.
04:25One day to go, Linda. And when she told you, you had a laugh, right?
04:29Oh, I absolutely laughed. I thought it was the funniest thing I ever heard of.
04:33You can never get in trouble.
04:35That's awesome.
04:36If you're going to go out good, you know, go out big.
04:38Go out with a bang. That's right. All right. Thanks, Linda.
04:40A lot of text messages coming in, too.
04:43Let's see. Someone said that they were a teacher, and three days before school was ending,
04:50they caught a student going to the bathroom outside during recess by the dumpster with
04:55full pants down.
04:57I know you'll find this hard to believe, but I've watched a lot of kids.
05:00Like, my high school was decently bad.
05:04And the last day of school, we always had kids that got in trouble and then weren't allowed
05:09to walk to get their diploma.
05:12Oh.
05:13Someone said three days before the school year ended, I got into a fight and was suspended
05:18for the last three days of the year. My parents weren't happy.
05:22Can I actually just go back to that? Maybe it is a good idea to be in trouble to not walk
05:26to get the diploma because graduation is long.
05:29It's boring.
05:30Do you really need to walk across to get a piece of paper?
05:34That might not be the biggest deterrent of getting kids to behave.
05:37And do we want to go back down this road again? You remember how upset Loren was that
05:41kids weren't walking in college?
05:44She thinks you should be there for the parents, the graduations for the parents.
05:48Lastly, we're talking about when you got in trouble on the last day of school.
05:50In third grade, my best friend and I threw toys up at the ceiling to knock the ceiling
05:54tiles out. We got in big trouble, but we thought it was really funny.
05:57It is funny.
05:58What grade were you in that you had toys in school?
06:01My son got into trouble the last day of school because he, quote, dipped a girl, which
06:05means he tapped her boobs upwards.
06:06Oh, God.
06:08He's in the eighth grade.
06:10I don't even know what that is.
06:13Me neither.
06:14I don't think I want to know.
06:15I don't know.
06:17And then someone else got in trouble for bringing a water gun and water balloons in on the last
06:21day of school.
06:22Yeah, I've seen that before.
06:23Yeah, that's real funny.
06:24That's real funny.
