00:00Kimi Raikkonen, and they're normally a few words back at Ferrari.
00:05A bit to think about for the big race.
00:07Didn't have the best qualifying session.
00:09We'll start from 11th on the grid.
00:12Of course, that race is not too far away.
00:15A few hours away, the Formula One Rolex Australian Grand Prix.
00:18We've also got the Carrera Cup, the ultimate speed comparison.
00:21So much to look forward to.
00:23But up next, right now, the fourth race of the V8 Supercars.
00:26Let's take you to your commentators, Rusty and Greg Murphy.
00:30Thank you, Mel.
00:36As you say, a massive afternoon of motorsport here.
00:39It's all part of the showcase, all part of the event.
00:42The opening round of the Formula One World Championship and the V8 Supercars love being here.
00:47Bit of chat around this morning about the possibility of these races next year being a championship round.
00:54Something that will count towards the title.
00:55There is some hurdles that would have to be cleared for that to happen.
00:58Craig Lowndes there for Red Bull Racing Australia.
01:03But that would be a good thing, Murph, wouldn't it?
01:04Actually give it some, you know, some real currency.
01:06Absolutely.
01:07I mean, the way these races have been run of late, the amount of, you know, time that the Supercars have given on track.
01:13You know, don't see why it couldn't happen.
01:15Shane Van Gisbergen has had a stellar weekend.
01:17He has led every single lap so far for the first three races.
01:21Fabian Coulthard, great job yesterday.
01:22They slotted in after Craig Lowndes made a little accident, a little mistake, I should say, down at turn 10.
01:28And Fabian managed to get past Scott McLaughlin, consistency, win cup.
01:32They're still struggling to get back through the field a little bit from, you know, getting that penalty the other day.
01:36There was some words spoken and exchanged between Tim Edwards at FPR and Garth Tandy yesterday.
01:43We saw the incident with Chas Mostat on track.
01:47Unfortunately, Dale Wood got involved in that one.
01:49And then after that, there was an exchange of words between the two factory teams over whose fault it was.
01:54Chas Mostat came out second best with that one, Rusty.
01:56He got a bit of a penalty given to him.
01:58He's not racing today after the damage that was caused to the FPR Falcon yesterday.
02:03But at the end, he was deemed to have been at fault and got some point penalty, which obviously hasn't meant anything because he's not racing today.
02:11Lots of angles to bring you.
02:13Scott McLaughlin, top left of screen in that beautiful brand new Volvo.
02:16Bottom left is Mark Winterbottom, the sole remaining Pepsi Max Ford Performance Racing Falcon.
02:21Murph detailing there substantial damage to his teammate Chas Mostat's car.
02:25It was on the flatbed, out of the track last night and already back to their workshop, given the tight turnaround.
02:31We've got a very busy period for the sport.
02:35Five events in the space of seven weeks from the opening round just a couple of weeks ago in Adelaide.
02:41Top right of your screen, James Courtney, the guy you partnered in the Enduros last year.
02:45Yeah, and he got caught up a little bit yesterday in that first lap altercation and flat spotted a tyre quite badly.
02:52Two angles of Scott McLaughlin there.
02:53I loved, we came off the roof there a moment ago, our cameraman panned down from that caricature, the comic figure.
03:00Give it some Jandl.
03:01This is getting huge miles, isn't it, in the wake of his very emotive post-race comments after the Clipsal 500 and it's taken off.
03:08There is now, I think, a Scotty's Jandl Twitter handle or something or other.
03:13There's things that's gone mad.
03:14They've exposed it, they've exposed the reason why it's so fast, the Jandl, that's what it's all about.
03:20It's a Kiwi thing, mate.
03:21Julia Ingle walking off the circuit there.
03:24A couple of other quick points, let's bounce through them here.
03:26An issue tyre-wise for Scott McLaughlin yesterday.
03:28Yeah, he also had a bit of a moment, cold tyre situation and locked up left front, which probably stopped his charge a little bit more forward than where he finished.
03:38But he managed to consolidate and obviously get to the finish.
03:42There's Jamie Wincup, got the eyes on, as we said, you know, very fast, as always.
03:49But has just struggled to get back through the field like we usually expect him to do.
03:53But I'm sure in this last race you'll be looking to make amends.
03:56We had a bit of a shower just before the cars left the pit lane.
04:00But looking at the crowd there, sunshine has come back out.
04:05Feels cooler, too.
04:06Like, it's only 17 degrees here at Albert Park at the moment.
04:08And then coming from the left-hand side of your screen, where our hosting area is in the paddock, to the right-hand side, where the commentary box is,
04:15you can noticeably feel how cool it was and the cloud cover.
04:18So we're in for a wild afternoon, I think, of racing.
04:20It's going to be great.
04:21Jamie Wincup, what can he produce today?
04:25It is not a championship point-scoring round.
04:27However, we want to determine an overall weekend winner for the MSS V8 Supercars Challenge at Albert Park.
04:34So they've been accumulating some points for the event each race.
04:37That car left of your screen, the VIP Petfoods entry of Shane Van Gispergen, has the maximum.
04:43Three from three so far.
04:44Super stuff by Steve Hallam and all the boys in there.
04:46Yeah, but it can all change because it's double points for this one, mate.
04:50So it's not going to take much, you know, for Shane to lose a few spots.
04:55The double points can shift things around dramatically.
04:58Fabian Coulthard has the next best with 188 points.
05:02Van Gispergen on on 225 currently.
05:04It'll be a double-file rolling start for this, something special for Albert Park.
05:08Another piece of information, too.
05:09I think you had some info on one of the Erebus drivers yesterday, a tyre issue, I think, during race three.
05:14Yeah, Will Davison was showing some really good pace there from the day before, and he carried that through.
05:21Unfortunately, yesterday, he picked up some debris on one of his tyres, and he had to come in and get that change.
05:27So it was a bit disappointing.
05:28Obviously, he was looking for a reasonable top-ten result.
05:31But he had to make a trip through the pit lane, replace that tyre, and move on.
05:34Jack Perkins chipping away yesterday.
05:36Did a good job.
05:37Ended up about mid-pack.
05:38After a difficult qualifying, they were separated, covered by just one second in Thursday's qualifying session.
05:46That is amazing.
05:46That's how competitive the new generation of V8 supercars is.
05:50They will set off shortly behind that safety car.
05:54It'll lead them around the Albert Park circuit.
05:56It will then peel off to the lane, and side-by-side, two lines will then roll toward the start line.
06:05And there's a special process that they've then got to follow, as we've seen.
06:07And the boys have done a pretty good job so far this weekend with all those rolling starts, haven't they?
06:11Yeah, it's been tidy.
06:12We've got the acceleration zone.
06:13You can see the sides there just to the left of screen.
06:15The two AZ boards.
06:17And as soon as the starter, standing up there, you can see waving the green flag now.
06:22As soon as the starter is happy that he's happy with the way they've formed up in their two lines,
06:27and they're maintaining between 50 and 60 k's an hour, he'll wave the green flag.
06:31And when that happens, it gives Shane Van Gisbergen control of the start of the race.
06:35And as soon as he enters that AZ zone, it's up to him to determine when he floors it.
06:42And when he does that, the race effectively starts.
06:44We've obviously lost a couple of cars, Rusty.
06:47As you see, Chas Molston gone.
06:48Dale Wood, very unfortunate circumstance there.
06:51Unfortunate for Brad Jones racing.
06:52Wow.
06:52And tough for those guys after the last couple of weeks that had.
06:55And, of course, there's quite a bit of damage done for Dale Wood's Commodore at the front.
06:59Bit the rails at the front of the car, which means, obviously, it's probably front's engine damage.
07:05The front clip there with the radiators, all that, you know, obviously destroyed.
07:08So he won't be starting this race either.
07:10And talking with Richard Crail, our commentary buddy before, of course, there's only a weak turnaround here, really,
07:16before you get going again to the next round.
07:17And the next one's in Tasmania.
07:19So all those teams, they're going to turn around, get the trucks repacked,
07:23and down to the wharf to make the junior cross dash straight.
07:26So, yeah, they're on that scuttle, as you said at the moment.
07:30Five events in a very short period of time.
07:32A week after the Tasmanian round, they're off to Winton.
07:37And then a few weeks after that, over the seas to New Zealand.
07:40So it's busy.
07:41There's Dale Wood.
07:42Unfortunately, he's a bystander.
07:45He's not good.
07:46He was running with Mark Webber on Tuesday as part of Mark Webber's new initiative,
07:51Champion Edge, to get youngsters aged between 13 and 16 out there and into sport.
07:56And some good sporting role models like Lydia Lassler.
07:59Steve Hooker was there as well.
08:00And they ran the track.
08:01It started dry like this, and it began to rain about halfway around.
08:05And they were saturated by the end of it.
08:07But a great initiative and fantastic that so many V8 supercar drivers got involved.
08:10Nick Percat was there as well.
08:12So was Rick Kelly.
08:15Great crowd already in here, Rusty, for today's action.
08:18And they got some action before with the Mazda Celebrity race.
08:23Did they what?
08:24Did they what?
08:25I don't know if they'll get the same amount of action in the V8 supercars, but you never know.
08:29Yeah, different kind of action with the Mazda Celebrity Challenge.
08:3316 Dunlop tyres for the weekend, Murph.
08:35They've had banks of four, a set for each race.
08:38And they've got to use this final one for race four.
08:41And that's given everybody a level playing field.
08:42So no real strategy there to play.
08:45Everyone's on a brand new set of tyres for each race.
08:48As we hear communication to the safety car.
08:52As they come round the last little part of the track,
08:55get some temperature in the soft Dunlop control tyre for this weekend.
08:59The voice of X-Compress driver, Tim Schenker number four.
09:03Relaying to the safety car and Amber Anderson about the kind of speeds they're looking for.
09:09Safety car lights out and accelerating away from the field.
09:12Here we go.
09:14Lights out on the safety car.
09:16A couple of corners left.
09:17They'll start to form up now.
09:19The pole man, Shane Van Gisbergen, on the inside.
09:22The last two races, he has taken the right-hand side of the track.
09:28Moved right over.
09:29And they've split.
09:30This one round, he's changed it.
09:32He's decided, I'm going to mix it.
09:33No, the snake moves over.
09:36And everyone is obliged to follow the two guys in front of the queue.
09:40So, one down the right, one down the left.
09:44And they're approaching at that speed somewhere between 1560km.
09:48It's being checked.
09:49They'll enter the AZ zone very shortly.
09:52And then Shane Van Gisbergen will have control.
09:54They're in there now.
09:55He's gone.
09:55The gears on the gas.
09:57And away we go in the V8 supercars.
09:59Coulthard trying to shut the door on Craig Lowndes.
10:02Down into turn one for the first time.
10:04The Norton Hornets.
10:05Caruso looking up the inside as well.
10:07Oh, look out wide.
10:08McLaughlin holds it.
10:11They all stream through again, which is fantastic to see.
10:13No real issues through turn one.
10:15McLaughlin got round the outside of Lowndes.
10:18That's a big one.
10:19Down the outside we'll see Lowndes trying to get Novel at.
10:22He's not close enough.
10:23Wind Cup's going to benefit from this one potentially.
10:27Lockwood racing entry looks strong as well for Fabian Coulthard.
10:30But can Van Gisbergen bolt in the same manner that he's done on a couple of occasions here
10:36at Albert Park?
10:37He was strong in race one.
10:39He was, but he's also had a bit of a set up.
10:43Probably a tyre pressure thing where he's looked to have his car come on later and look
10:47after those tyres.
10:48So every race so far we've seen him lead from the start.
10:51He's had a bit of an issue early on in those laps.
10:54And we see McLaughlin having a look down the inside of Coulthard early on, trying to maximise
10:59the opportunity while the tyres are still coming up to temperature.
11:02And a young Kiwi, look at him working hard.
11:05Hustling, look at Coulthard.
11:06Terrific stuff.
11:07He knows he's got to get it done now.
11:09He wants to get it done early.
11:11And Gisbergen, he's having to defend using a lot of the road as they stream through.
11:17Through the quick change of direction.
11:1911, 12, and he's still on it.
11:21Look at Coulthard.
11:21He's going to look down the inside.
11:22This could be an opportunity for McLaughlin as Lowndes is looking too.
11:26Big block up, Coulthard.
11:28He's not going to make this corner.
11:30Somehow he held it.
11:32I am wrong.
11:33It's all.
11:33Made the corner.
11:34It's all.
11:35Look at Lowndes up the inside of McLaughlin.
11:37He's still on the outside of Bing Gisbergen.
11:39He's going to have the inside for 14.
11:41What shape is that front left tyre going to be in?
11:44Wow.
11:45Good recovery.
11:45That's going to be a problem.
11:46They are too abreast.
11:48Great recovery.
11:49And they need...
11:51McLaughlin is getting...
11:52Oh, Lowndes gets a touch.
11:56They need a boost.
11:57Some good news at Brad Jones Racing after that rebuild of the Team BOC entry.
12:01The dramas for Dale Wood.
12:03Wow.
12:03McLaughlin leads the way four wide.
12:06Look at them there.
12:06This is unreal.
12:08Look at Moffat down the inside.
12:09He's inside.
12:10Tander.
12:11Tander goes a bit wide.
12:12Caruso.
12:13Man, this is on.
12:14Winner bottom in car now.
12:15Look at the wheel work going on as they're getting touched up all the way through this first lap.
12:20Hello.
12:21Completely phenomenal.
12:21We've got a championship round in not very long at all.
12:29And the Volvo has got round Gisberg and also he's in second spot.
12:35Wide.
12:35Reynolds wide.
12:37Great work by McLaughlin.
12:39So the two Kiwis battling there and look at Ben Gisberg and he's finding it.
12:44The pressure feeling.
12:45The pressure there from Lowndes and Wimcup.
12:48We might see a replay at some stage of how the Volvo got round Gisberg and but how wrong
12:53was I into 13 that time when Fabian Kulkan locked up the right, left front really quite
13:00substantially.
13:02I know I didn't think there was any way he was going to make the corner rusty but what
13:05a drop.
13:05What a job to get round.
13:06Good save.
13:09Remember double points here too for this race.
13:15Action a plenty to two Red Bull Racing cars there.
13:18The line is stern.
13:19They are still looking for a way past Van Gisbergen Lowndes.
13:23Looks down the inside.
13:24I think he's got an overlap.
13:25He's on the grass.
13:26He has got an overlap here on Gisbergen so he's going to make a move too.
13:30Did not expect Shane Van Gisbergen to be in such trouble early on in this race.
13:35Maybe they've made a set up change or something to this car.
13:38I'm not sure.
13:38Here's the replay of the start.
13:39Caruso off to the left one of the Jack Daniels racing injuries and of course Coulthard very
13:47quick to move across sensing the threat or knowing the threat from Red Bull Racing Australia.
13:51James Moffat a superb start too to get around his teammate who's been ahead of him all weekend.
14:00But that was critical there with McLaughlin getting past Craig Lowndes.
14:05And here's the action.
14:05You watch the left front there.
14:07I just did not think there was any way he was going to make the corner.
14:12He gets around the outside.
14:14Gisbergen into the door of the Brad Joe Racing Racing.
14:17Guard McLaughlin looking down the inside into four.
14:20He's going to get it done.
14:22What a move by the young Kiwi on the other Kiwi to take the lead of this fourth race.
14:28Has that thing got some speed, Rusty?
14:29Well, why don't we find out from the team boss.
14:31He's on the line.
14:32Gary Rogers has the heart rate.
14:33This is great for Volvo leading the way at Albert Park.
14:36Yeah, we're going all right, boys.
14:38We're sort of just taking a little bit of time.
14:40You've got to say, that was a good move.
14:42Gary, phenomenal move.
14:44Obviously, he had a little bit of issues today with one of the tyres which slowed him up.
14:47But, man, this kiddy's on fire.
14:49He's one of your brothers, mate.
14:50He is, mate.
14:51He's the Kiwis.
14:51They're flying.
14:52I taught him everything he knows, of course.
14:53Well, a little bit.
14:55Gary, congratulations.
14:56I mean, we're only two rounds into it.
14:58You said recently you wanted to come out and prove that what happened at Adelaide was no fluke.
15:03You've done an exceptional job.
15:05And you and the boys must be very happy.
15:07It's great, Rusty.
15:08I mean, as I've said a million times, I've got the best bunch of blokes and see this happen.
15:12Super.
15:13All right.
15:13We'll leave you to it.
15:14You go and enjoy.
15:14There's a bit going on in the race.
15:16Gary Rogers there from the Valvoline.
15:19Gary Rogers team, of course, running the Volvo S60 in 2014.
15:24Look at the battle here.
15:25I've never seen Gary so emotional before in the last couple of rounds.
15:28But it's fantastic.
15:29He deserves it.
15:30Look at the race here.
15:31We saw Moffat.
15:32Oh.
15:35Whoa.
15:36Wincup down the inside of his teammate, I think, wasn't it?
15:39Oh, no, no.
15:39Sorry.
15:40He's dropped back a little bit.
15:41He's arguing with Moffat.
15:43Lowndes is in third.
15:44So Wincup's dropped back a couple of spots here, arguing with Moffat.
15:47Moffat was ahead of Van Gisburg and passed him down at the 10.
15:51Gisburg got the run back again on him.
15:53In charge now with Mark Winterbottom making a move on Caruso coming on to the front straight.
16:02There is action.
16:03Absolutely appointing McLaughlin since the fastest lap of the race there.
16:0757.65.
16:08After making the pass on Fabian Coulthard.
16:11So our pole sitter for the opening race, Michael Caruso drifting back.
16:19His teammate in the second of the Norton Hornets entries.
16:23They've got different paint schemes on different liveries this weekend.
16:26Michael running a lot of speed.
16:26Slade down the inside.
16:27Sorry, Rusty and Will Davison.
16:30The two Walkinshaw racing cars there.
16:32Slade and Perkat.
16:37Both of them had a pretty reasonable Adelaide.
16:40The result for Nick, I know, wasn't what he wanted.
16:42But he looked speedy.
16:43He looked racy there late in the game.
16:44And, of course, Perkat settling in now at Walkinshaw Racing in that super cheap auto racing Commodore.
16:52This is a surprise.
16:53And, remember, it has implications on the points for the weekend.
16:56Van Gisbergen.
16:57Moffet again.
16:58Moffet again.
16:58Down the inside.
16:59Rusty on Gisbergen.
17:00He's done it again.
17:01This is the second run.
17:02Will he be able to hold it this time and get a clean exit?
17:06I think he has.
17:07Gisbergen not getting the overlap as early as he did last time.
17:10So now Moffet moves into fourth position as Winkup looks on.
17:17It doesn't get much closer than this.
17:18Through the fast left-right run.
17:22So critical.
17:23You can see he just got through there a little bit better.
17:27Gisbergen will.
17:28No.
17:29He hasn't blocked Winkup.
17:30Down the inside.
17:31He's going to get this pass done.
17:33Into 13.
17:34Gisbergen will look to get a crisscross.
17:36But he can't do it.
17:38That may have.
17:39We need to check the numbers.
17:39I reckon that might have cost him the points.
17:42It has.
17:43You know for the weekend we've been combining all these points.
17:46But it's double as Murph said at the beginning of the race for the final one of the weekend.
17:51Double points on offer for race fourth.
17:53That may have cost Shane Van Gisbergen the weekend.
17:57We will get an update here in a second.
17:59As McLaughlin again goes faster.
18:0157 more at the front.
18:05We'll grab a break here.
18:08McLaughlin at the moment would be on top with 329 points.
18:12Van Gisbergen only a couple behind.
18:14327.
18:16Will the Volvo win the weekend at Albert Park?
18:19Find out right after this.
18:28Well the man who has dominated the weekend until this point is dropping backwards at a rapid rate.
18:33We don't know what is wrong with that VIP Petboots Commodore of Shane Van Gisbergen.
18:39It's cost him at the moment the event win.
18:42And Scott McLaughlin looks like taking this one out.
18:44He leads the race.
18:45Look at the margin that the Volvo has now over Craig Lowndes.
18:49Fabian Kulbad is back to third.
18:50It has all been happening here at Albert Park.
18:52And he is just demolishing the field.
18:54A 57.5.
18:55The next fastest after that was Lowndes on a 58.3.
19:00So there is just no competition there in the front.
19:02As we can see Van Gisbergen losing another spot.
19:04There's definitely something wrong with that car damage wise.
19:07We can see that there looks to be something on the left hand side of the tyre there.
19:11There's been some rubbing.
19:13Maybe he's got a bent steering or something.
19:14I'm not quite sure.
19:15But you know after the domination that he showed.
19:18Nick Perkett now looking to move ahead of him also.
19:21And there's fluid.
19:22There's fluid coming out of Todd Kelly's Nissan.
19:26There's a lot of radiator fluid.
19:28I just saw there coming out of that car.
19:31So it will be interesting to see what happens here.
19:33But it will be pretty slippery behind the number seven Jack Daniels Nissan right now.
19:38Watch the Kulin out there.
19:39Watch the Kulin.
19:39So there's Kulin coming out of that car as James Courtney moves ahead.
19:44In car now with him.
19:45The three Wapenshaw racing cars running there.
19:51And the mid-pack.
19:51Todd Kelly there pulled up.
19:53So obviously something wrong there with the radiator leak.
19:55Has put him out of the race.
19:57He's stopped down.
19:59I think at turn eight.
20:01Well that's a shame for Todd.
20:03But we've got to give a massive shout out to James Moffat.
20:05Who is currently in fourth place.
20:06Let's have a look at this here.
20:08Yeah there we go.
20:09There's the replay.
20:09That's obviously radiator coolant.
20:12Engine coolant.
20:13Coming out of that car.
20:15Tim Slade.
20:17Yellow flag.
20:17Yellow flag.
20:18I think we've got the safety car.
20:20Potentially coming out here.
20:22Yes.
20:22So this is going to change things as Perkett dives down the inside.
20:25But the safety car is heading out onto circuit here at Albert Park.
20:31Yellow's on display as you can see.
20:34So we'll see if we can find out what's up with the Gisbergen's car while the safety car is out.
20:40But man he's after being so dominant going to be very disappointed with that.
20:45Look at the gap.
20:46Unbelievable.
20:47That McLaughlin's got.
20:48That's looking like it's on fire.
20:51A bit of black smoke coming out.
20:52I'd get a fire extinguisher in there if I was someone potentially.
20:58Hopefully that's as bad as it gets.
21:01But that's black smoke.
21:02So it's reasonably serious.
21:08As they line up behind the leader.
21:11Things will quieten down for a moment.
21:14Rusty it's been absolutely full on.
21:16We can see James Moffat up into fourth position.
21:20He has had an awesome start.
21:21What we'll do at this point Murph while we're under safety car here is of course we're building up to race start in the Formula One Rolex Striding Grand Prix.
21:315pm local.
21:32Let's go to Mark Howard.
21:33Mark.
21:34Great to see the four time world champion.
21:36Always very generous with the fans.
21:38Sebastian when you wake up this morning what are your thoughts on the race?
21:42Just looking forward.
21:43You know it's been a long winter but a tough winter for us.
21:46So it's good to be here and finally wake up on a Sunday where we're going to race.
21:50And you're presented with a wonderful challenge today which also must excite you as a man that likes to get the job done.
21:56Yeah definitely especially with so many new things it will be a big challenge for all of us.
22:01I think we're all keen to find out how the racing will look like 2014.
22:07You've got a lot of fans in this part of the world.
22:08Best of luck for the race.
22:09Thanks for your talk.
22:10Thanks.
22:10For all the angst at times I know there was quite a roar from the crowd when he struggled yesterday.
22:18He had a genuine software issue.
22:20He's been a champion with the crowd here this weekend as well.
22:22Has spent a long time with some of the autograph marquee and things like that.
22:27He's been very generous with his time and the body language.
22:30The demeanour of the bloke.
22:32I think it's just accepting of the fact that it's not a great weekend.
22:34It's not a great car.
22:35That's what I've got.
22:37You know I've just got to live with it kind of for now.
22:39Well he's been through that before.
22:40I mean this team's going to recover.
22:42We can see the speed that Daniel had.
22:45And you know that's going to transform into him very very into his car very very soon.
22:50As you see a bit of a replay.
22:52Yeah look at that fluid.
22:53It's the big issue there for Todd Kelly.
22:59And he exited stage left very quickly.
23:02I think probably the dash might have been going a bit crazy at that point saying enough's enough.
23:07So disappointed Todd Kelly.
23:10Obviously worked so hard.
23:11He's been working so that whole team incredibly hard.
23:16Four cars is a big ask.
23:17And you know they're doing a very good job.
23:19It's getting there though isn't it?
23:20It's getting there.
23:20Definitely look at James Moffat.
23:22He's sitting right there behind.
23:23Rick Kelly had a great result.
23:26And Cliff Sulk in the last race on Sunday.
23:30So we're about to get going again here at Albert Park.
23:33The final race on MSS V8 Supercar Challenge.
23:37It's race four.
23:38Scott McLaughlin leading the way.
23:41Some aggressive warming up of the tyres there.
23:43Jamie Winker.
23:44Or is it Speed Cafe on Twitter reporting that Van Giesbergen no rear grip.
23:49I struggle to believe that's all it is.
23:56Because I mean he is the master of managing those situations.
24:01So as they line up now for the restart.
24:03The double file.
24:03Everyone forms up behind.
24:05Same as the start.
24:06Payton Coulthard right behind the Volvo.
24:10Can't get any closer than that.
24:12Scott McLaughlin in charge.
24:13There's the AZ boards.
24:15As soon as he enters there.
24:16If he's got the green flag.
24:17It's up to him when to choose to go.
24:22Lights it up.
24:23Good work McLaughlin.
24:25Look at James Moffat too.
24:27Oh Moffat's going to lose a spot here potentially.
24:29Just didn't get away.
24:30Tand is down the outside.
24:32Winkup gives Coulthard a bit of a touch.
24:35They get through.
24:36Moffat's been the big loser in this one.
24:40As they stream through.
24:42Down to turn four.
24:43The big breaking move down here.
24:45Lowndes will go to the outside.
24:46McLaughlin will cover the middle.
24:48Oh he's sideways.
24:50He's sideways.
24:51Oh McLaughlin had some push.
24:53But he's managed to hold on.
24:55Look at Tand.
24:56Tand.
24:57Big move on Coulthard.
24:59Look at Lowndes.
25:01Got to touch there as well.
25:03He did and you see a bit of oversteer.
25:05Bit of opposite lock by Lowndes.
25:08He's pushed in hard.
25:09He wants this.
25:15Great sound of the Volvo S60.
25:18Leading the way.
25:18Moffat fighting here.
25:19Fighting in the Norton Hornets.
25:21Entry the ultima.
25:22The three Nissans.
25:24Oh Rick Kelly's in here too.
25:25But more would come down there inside.
25:28And the head gone.
25:30Rick Kelly in the grass.
25:32In the gravel trap also.
25:34Well I can't wait to see a replay.
25:35Two Nissans.
25:36In the gravel trap.
25:37What a shame.
25:39Now what happened there?
25:40Winkup was very late on the brakes.
25:42Rusty.
25:43Into 10.
25:45Need to see a replay.
25:45Look at the damage here.
25:46Dahlgren.
25:51Yep.
25:51Damage to that Volvo.
25:53It's not going to go much further.
25:58Wow.
25:59Will we see another safe car?
26:01Rick Kelly.
26:02The damage to the front of the Nissans.
26:04Moffat.
26:04Here we go.
26:09A replay was all on.
26:10Winkup was on the outside of Moffat.
26:12Caruso was right behind.
26:15What's happened here?
26:16Here's the out.
26:17Winkup's dived down there.
26:19Oh no.
26:20Kelly and Caruso touching.
26:24Watch your head mate.
26:25Watch your head for rubble.
26:27And that wasn't the end of it.
26:30So Winkup got down there.
26:32And got hit.
26:36We've had news.
26:37I don't think there's going to be a safety car.
26:39Down there for this.
26:40We're going to have double yellows.
26:41But we're mad.
26:42Yeah.
26:43We're hearing the confirmation.
26:44Car buddy.
26:45Save the car.
26:45Save the car.
26:50We're waiting for that confirmation to come through.
26:53Initially no safety car.
26:55They're going to deploy one.
26:56Let's look at this again.
26:59Winkup got down there.
27:00It's all pretty clean.
27:01And then he was just a passenger up there.
27:03Because Rick Kelly climbed up over the back of his team mate.
27:07Yeah.
27:07The telling one.
27:08So Lowndes continues to keep the pressure on.
27:11No safety car boards as yet.
27:13But there will be a yellow down into 10 this time.
27:17Double yellows.
27:18So no passing.
27:20McLaughlin not had the speed at the restart.
27:22I'm not sure why there's a bit of miscommunication from race control.
27:27We're hearing definitely no safety car now.
27:30So it will not be deployed.
27:31We can see it actually still in the lane.
27:33So no boards on display either.
27:36So I'm a little bit surprised.
27:38You know, McLaughlin hasn't been able to get away from Lowndes.
27:40Lowndes has speed here.
27:41Very, very good.
27:41Great shots out of the back of the S60.
27:45A couple of laps to go.
27:46Tan in third.
27:47A great restart by him.
27:49On course to win the weekend as well, Murph.
27:52329 points.
27:53He's top of the order.
27:54Lowndes will be second with 319.
27:56If things stay the way that they currently are.
27:59If those positions change, we'll get a different result.
28:02But as we see, he's got a little bit of a gap here.
28:05We'll see where the Commodore, the Red Bull Racing Commodore is a bit faster.
28:11Lounge is looking sharp.
28:13As we see a change of position back here, Mike Caruso on Coulthard.
28:18And the Erebus AMG Mercedes is sitting there also.
28:26Will Davison.
28:27A great comeback.
28:32Winnerbottom closing up.
28:38Under the wing of the Erebus machine.
28:42On lap 11 here of 12.
28:50Teammates last year.
28:52Davison and Winnerbottom.
28:53Obviously Davison defecting at the end of 13.
28:57Making his way at Erebus Road at Motorsport.
28:59Yes, the team owner, Betty Clemenco, was up at 5am this morning.
29:04She couldn't sleep.
29:05She was all checking out what was happening on Twitter as far as motorsport was concerned.
29:09And very excited about today.
29:10We're going back with Van Giesbergen here.
29:13I cannot believe what has gone wrong with this story.
29:18I mean, he just dominated the weekend so far.
29:20Red Bull Racing, they think that their man, Craig Lowndes, is going to win this.
29:28I reckon Scott McLaughlin will have something to say about it.
29:32And Scott Pye puts his nose, shows his nose to Shane Van Giesbergen.
29:36Obviously no passing down there with the yellows.
29:38And a bit of touching, too, through that sector where the yellow flags are.
29:42Scott Pye, Russell Ingle there.
29:45The most successful man in terms of race wins at Albert Park.
29:49He's had a great history here.
29:52There's going to be a bit of frustration here.
29:54Look, going back to the front.
29:55Gar Tander in third spot.
29:58Holding off Mike Caruso.
29:59There's going to be a bit of chat about what happened down there a couple of laps ago.
30:07With Rick Kelly and Mike Caruso getting caught up as Davison shows his nose to Coulthard.
30:17Those spots still remaining the same.
30:19But I reckon there's one lap to go.
30:21There's definitely opportunity for some positions to change.
30:24As Michael Caruso looks at the back of the HRT Commodore.
30:27Tander has to cover slightly.
30:30We couldn't pick the team, but there was a weird radio message there about a lap ago.
30:33So one of the drivers saying one lap to go.
30:36And we wondered whether the race may have been shortened.
30:38But one of the drivers obviously thought it might have been over a little earlier than it is.
30:43It's staying or going to the scheduled distance.
30:47McLaughlin leading the way from Lowndes.
30:51Caruso still putting a lot of pressure on Tander.
30:53Is he still in car with Mark Winterbottom?
30:56He's sitting in 7th position.
31:02Just a fantastic race.
31:05Plenty of action.
31:06V8 Supercars putting on a show for the crowd here today.
31:10At Albert Park.
31:12There's a max 75 points for each race, but 150 up for grabs today.
31:16McLaughlin on top of the tally with 329.
31:20He will win the MSS V8 Supercars Challenge if he stays where he is.
31:24Mark Dutton and the Red Bull Racing team have been urging, encouraging Craig Lowndes to push.
31:29He has a tally of 319.
31:32And then the next best as we see it, Fabian Kulfa.
31:342.98, he would be 3rd for the weekend in the Lockwood Commodore.
31:39Half a lap to go, Rusty.
31:41Showed for Caruso.
31:42They haven't been able to capitalise on that pole position.
31:45The car.
31:45But looking fast.
31:46Yeah.
31:47Looking very racy.
31:48Look at Tander covering.
31:49He knows he's only half a lap to go.
31:50Caruso is going to look here.
31:52Mid-track for Tander in the number 2.
31:55Holden Racing Team Car.
31:57He's going to try to get the crossover.
31:59Can't get it done.
32:01Only a couple of corners left for our leader, I'm sure.
32:03Scott McLaughlin leads.
32:05He's got the gap on Lowndes.
32:07He's going to come around to take a race win here.
32:10The second event for this car in V8 Supercars.
32:14Give it some jazz, Scotty.
32:16You have just won the V8 Supercar Challenge at Albert Park.
32:21What a story.
32:22Yeah, thanks, JJ.
32:23Doesn't help that ball way.
32:25And a drag race to the finish.
32:28Caruso got it.
32:29Caruso got it.
32:34Well, nothing wrong with the horsepower and the Nissan.
32:37That's changed things, too.
32:39I think that leaves Caruso's third for the weekend.
32:41We'll confirm the telly.
32:42I think you could be right there, Rusty.
32:44By one point.
32:45That's significant.
32:46Caruso's finished third for the weekend
32:48and has pushed Fabian Coulfar down to four.
32:50Unbelievable by three one-thousandths of a second.
32:55Three ten-thousandths of a second.
32:59Well, what an amazing fourth race here.
33:03There's a bit of a replay action.
33:05David Wall getting past Shane Van Gisbergen.
33:09Oh, and he didn't like that one.
33:12Wall.
33:13Oh, sideways through four-five.
33:18That's incredible.
33:19Three ten-thousandths of a second
33:21and it's determined third for the weekend.
33:24Well done, Michael Caruso in that beyond blue Nissan Ultimate.
33:27Let's look at this.
33:28Left of your screen on Garth Tander.
33:31Oh, if you can pick that, you're better than me.
33:33I think it was less than three ten-thousandths of a second.
33:36What a result.
33:37Confirmed results in race four.
33:41This is how they finish from McLaughlin from Lowndes
33:44and Michael Caruso.
33:46And in terms of points for the weekend,
33:48the numbers as we see it,
33:49that is one, two, and three for the weekend as well.
33:52Fantastic stuff by the V8 supercars here.
33:56Tander will finish fourth,
33:57getting ahead of Fabian Coulfar.
33:59Will Davison, we didn't get a chance to really talk enough.
34:01That's pretty good.
34:02Very encouraging for the Erebus Motorsport driver.
34:04Considering he was in pit lane there changing a tyre
34:07during yesterday's race.
34:08So, a phenomenal result there.
34:11Shane Van Gisburg, and there he is, 14th.
34:14We wouldn't have put money on that one.
34:16David Wall, Jack Perkins coming home, 16th.
34:19David Reynolds, they feed back through.
34:21James Moffat, Rick Kelly.
34:22Oh, how unfortunate for those guys to end up where they did.
34:24As I said, there's going to be,
34:25obviously, some investigation into that one.
34:27We saw Rick climb up over the back of his teammate.
34:30And feel for Moff as well.
34:31He was on for a great result here.
34:33Look at this guy.
34:34There's a bit of oversteer action going inside there.
34:38The jandal is being applied.
34:41And Scotty McLaughlin, no question.
34:44He's got a bit of a future.
34:47Tremendous stuff.
34:47The GRM boys, well-deserved, showed such incredible pace so early on at Adelaide.
35:01And it has continued here at Alder Park.
35:03We're going to take a break.
35:04On the way, our friends at Swiss have a great opportunity right now when you purchase any Swiss product.
