00:02Good morning.
00:03Hi, hi.
00:04Peace of love, King and Queen.
00:05How y'all doing today?
00:06Doing good, man.
00:07Doing good.
00:10We got to let people know, King High School, you are track, football, basketball?
00:18Yeah, all state, man.
00:19Basketball, football, track.
00:21Track, I just joined track to take the trips to hang out with the girls.
00:24But basketball and football was my main staples.
00:28Was into playing, you know, seven years pro football afterwards.
00:31But basketball was always my love, man.
00:33You know, that was my first love, and I still love it.
00:36I just stopped growing, so I had to choose.
00:38But you go play in the NFL?
00:40I go play in the NFL, yes.
00:42Drafted by Chicago?
00:43Chicago Bears, up in 2001.
00:46Wow.
00:46Yeah.
00:47Defensive end?
00:48Defensive end out of the University of Minnesota.
00:50All-time sack leader in the University of Minnesota history to this day.
00:54Woo!
00:54Period.
00:55Yeah, period.
00:56All-time.
00:57All-time.
00:57That's what I'm talking about.
00:58If this mic had dropped, I would have dropped it.
01:00All right.
01:01Period.
01:02Did you go on to Atlanta?
01:04Yeah, I went to Atlanta out of Chicago.
01:06After Chicago let me go, I ended up in Atlanta for three seasons where I was rejoined, playing
01:10with Vic, you know, the great Michael Vic.
01:12Had a great run there in Atlanta.
01:14And that's where my roots are now.
01:16That's why I kind of stayed in Atlanta after that.
01:17You know, I played in Washington and Toronto, a couple of the places after that.
01:21But I kept my roots in Atlanta because it just felt like Detroit felt for me.
01:25Like, it was a lot of us walking around and there was a lot of successful versions of
01:29us.
01:30Yeah.
01:31There are more NFL players that come out of the PSL here in Detroit than anywhere else
01:36in the country.
01:37It's amazing.
01:38And not just come out, but you guys star.
01:40Oh, yeah.
01:41We thrive.
01:42Like, you know, we got Antonio Gates.
01:43He's a Hall of Famer.
01:44He's going to be a Hall of Famer.
01:45Anthony Spice Adams.
01:47Yep.
01:48He had an amazing career.
01:50Now he's doing an amazing career in entertainment like myself.
01:53My boy, Ron Johnson.
01:54Yeah, Ron.
01:55He's doing well in Minnesota.
01:57I still talk to all these guys.
01:58We still stay connected.
02:00And yeah, you're right, man.
02:02We got a legacy.
02:03So this weekend, which I was unaware of, is Crusaders weekend as well.
02:10Yeah.
02:11My two brothers, Jason Pitts and James Thea, has put together a Crusader weekend.
02:15It's the first annual we're going to do this every year.
02:17It's basically a really big networking event for all the Crusaders to come back.
02:21We're all at a point in our lives where we've gotten our careers to a certain point.
02:25And now we can actually happily give back to each other and our community.
02:29So we just coming together.
02:30You know, it's a big, you know, creative brainstorming weekend, you know, mixed in with
02:34some good times, some good drinks and some fun.
02:36Like on Friday, we have an icebreaker at Checkmate from 10 to 2, I think.
02:42I'll be going there right after the show to do that.
02:45And then Saturday, we're at the St. Regis for like a ball that I'm hosting.
02:50So I'll be leaving, doing When A Woman's Fed Up.
02:52There you go.
02:53Going straight to host for that and just, you know, having a good time with my brothers
02:56and sisters who pull up.
02:57I love it.
02:58I love it.
02:59That is extremely exciting.
03:02I, we just lost the guy from Rocky.
03:07Yeah, Carl Weathers.
03:08Carl Weathers.
03:09Yeah.
03:10Who played in the NFL.
03:11Yes, sir.
03:12There's so many.
03:14I know when I was a little boy, we had a football star by the name of Jim Brown who went on to
03:20do film.
03:21Yeah.
03:22You, you got into entertainment.
03:24What, what led you there?
03:26I wanted to be an actor before I ever wanted to be an athlete.
03:29Really?
03:30Yeah.
03:31I played Puss in Boots in the first grade.
03:32That's funny.
03:33No kidding.
03:34I played Puss in Boots in the first grade.
03:35All right.
03:36Okay.
03:37I'm with you on that.
03:38Go ahead.
03:39And my mother and my mother and grandmother, they screamed so loud when I gave my one little
03:41line, which was, not I, said the cat.
03:43And that was in first grade.
03:45And they went crazy, Mason.
03:46And I was like, look, man, I'm going to be doing this for the rest of my life.
03:49Yeah.
03:50Yeah.
03:51Family turned that light on.
03:52Yeah, man.
03:53Yeah.
03:54And by the way, not to regret, but really quickly though, your dad was, was, was part of the
03:59public school system.
04:00And my mother as well.
04:01Yes.
04:02And your mom.
04:03Yeah.
04:04Tell, tell people.
04:05Yeah.
04:06My mother, Angela Riley.
04:07She was the central, was central high school.
04:08She was assistant principal of central high school, English department head as well.
04:11My dad ended up, he was coaching.
04:12I'm not coaching, but teaching at Persian high school for a long time.
04:15Um, ended up being out at Southfield later, but at the end, you know, as a counselor.
04:19So I grew up in a house of educators, so I couldn't skip school cause they, they knew
04:23the schedules.
04:24You know what I'm saying?
04:25So that play was really important.
04:27Yeah.
04:28Yeah.
04:29They half days, but they half days was my half days.
04:30So I was like, dang, yeah, it was no fun.
04:32I had, I had to write, I had to ride the rail.
04:34You know what I'm saying?
04:35That is cool.
04:36So you, so you go off into entertainment.
04:38Yeah.
04:39Uh, and you like it.
04:40How do you become part of when a woman's fed up?
04:44Man, 15 years on the grind as an actor, man.
04:47Being on the hit TV show, the Black Hamptons is airing on BET right now.
04:50Um, along with Wicked City at the same time, being on two hit series.
04:54Um, just putting the work in, man.
04:56Um, Uncle Nate, who's the producer of this show, he, he called me.
04:59Um, he put, got in contact with another, uh, friend of mine, Lynn Gibson out in Atlanta.
05:03And, um, it's just the connectivity, man.
05:05You do this long enough, as you know, you, you, you start meeting all the right people.
05:09And at that point your career gets to a point and you know, you just one phone call away from a job.
05:13And literally that's what that was.
05:15Uncle Nate called me.
05:16Um, we, you know, we came out of an actor strike not long ago.
05:19Right.
05:20So, um, I was really jumping at the bit to get back on stage.
05:23Just kind of getting warm back up and get ready.
05:25Um, Wicked City got picked up for a season three.
05:28So I may be going back on that and hopefully we get the Black Hamptons season three.
05:31So I'm just getting warmed up and getting ready to go back.
05:34Yeah.
05:35Karan Joseph Riley is our guest today, who is part of the cast when a woman's fed up.
05:40We also joined by the world renowned radio personality and record label manager.
05:50Mm.
05:51Mm.
05:52Foodie Rome.
05:53Foodie.
05:54Which he does not like to talk about the record label.
05:55I want to talk about his record label.
05:56He's got a record label.
05:57No, no, no, no, no.
05:58Okay.
05:59Okay.
06:00No, he worked.
06:01Foodie worked for CBS Records.
06:02I'm not kidding.
06:03Yeah.
06:04He worked with the stars.
06:05Several records.
06:06Macy, good morning.
06:07Good morning.
06:08Good morning.
06:09Good morning.
06:10My friend over there.
06:11Yes.
06:12Karan.
06:13Foodie, what's up man?
06:14I talked to you yesterday.
06:15We've been talking.
06:16We've been talking.
06:17Exactly.
06:18As we talked to Karan, we like to do it this way, just kind of set up a little bit.
06:24A lot of people don't know that about you.
06:26And you were very good at it.
06:28You know, when you did the music business.
06:31People in Detroit know you mostly as a radio personality and promoter.
06:39But you are very successful as a record rep in the business for years.
06:47Well, thank you, Mason.
06:49Thank you kindly.
06:50You're so modest.
06:51Yeah.
06:52You're just really modest.
06:53No, actually, you know.
06:54Tell them some of the artists you worked with back then.
06:56Well, the first artist that I worked with was Chuck Brown.
07:00The Soul Searches.
07:01Yup.
07:02I got hired by Mike Abbott.
07:06He was VP of MCA Records at that time.
07:09And he gave me a call and said, I got a job for you.
07:12Almost someone like, he was waiting on that phone call from Uncle Nate.
07:15Oh yeah.
07:16Got that call.
07:17And he said, have you ever promoted before?
07:18And I said, no.
07:19He said, well, you got a job.
07:21And that was the first record that I worked with, Chuck Brown and the Soul Searches.
07:25Bustin' Loose.
07:26Bustin' Loose.
07:27Bustin' Loose.
07:28I feel like Bustin' Loose.
07:30That's my jam too.
07:31Yeah.
07:32And we took that record to number one.
07:34That's right.
07:35We took that record to number one.
07:37And, you know, a story, short story.
07:41I went over to see KLWBC Rosalie Tromley.
07:44And when I walked through the door, everybody looked at me and said, what the, what you doing here?
07:49She said, because we didn't go to CKLW.
07:52That's right.
07:53You understand?
07:54Only the pop reps went to CKLW, not the R&B reps.
07:57Right.
07:58And I walked in there, you know, and she met with me.
08:01She sat with me and she gave me a bit of advice.
08:03She says, this record is number one, you know, in the urban market.
08:08She said, if you can keep it number one consistent for, I think she told me something like eight weeks.
08:13Consistent eight weeks with the sales and, you know, and then there was eight weeks.
08:18She says, I will add this record to CKLW.
08:22Wow.
08:23That was huge back then.
08:24And it was huge.
08:25And when we, you know, we served up, we did our job.
08:29Eight weeks later, I was back at CKLW with the pop reps with balloons and everything floating.
08:36You made it happen.
08:38You understand?
08:39We made it happen.
08:40And from there, I got a call from CBS and Epic and Associated Fables.
08:44That's amazing.
08:45And from there, of course, you know that history, you know, I mean, we had some of everybody there.
08:50Some of everybody.
08:51You know, my favorites, Isleys, OJs, you know, Lou Rawls.
08:56Oh, you was living it.
08:57That was fun.
08:58I mean, emotions, you know, stuff like that.
09:01You know, Frank Chaplin, T.C. Thompson, you know.
09:04Yeah.
09:05Who was under the tulich of LeBaron Taylor at that time.
09:07LeBaron Taylor, who was a DJ at the old J.O.B.
09:10And WJZD.
09:11And WJZD.
09:12WJZD.
09:13Wow.
09:14Yeah, with the bell broadcasting of LeBaron Taylor.
09:16Who became one of the biggest.
09:18Absolutely.
09:19Black or white.
09:20You're not unfamiliar with where you are right now, either.
09:24Oh, absolutely not, because I used to work here.
09:26That's right.
09:27A lot of people did not know that, that you worked in this building as well.
09:31Oh, yeah.
09:32We started something here, you know.
09:33We started back in a little bit.
09:35It was called The Groove.
09:36The Groove.
09:37I mean, from ground up.
09:39And again.
09:40Wait, really?
09:41In here?
09:42Yes.
09:43Yeah.
09:44Yeah.
09:45Actually.
09:46Because you said that to me.
09:47I was like, what door am I supposed to come in?
09:48I'm like describing the building.
09:49He knows.
09:50He's like, I used to work here.
09:51I know where I'm going.
09:52Yeah, yes.
09:53So the idea of that, when they was building the groove, Tom Bender.
09:56Tom Bender.
09:57And they were building it up, and he had consultation with, guess who?
10:01Rosalie Trumley.
10:02He said, we're trying to put this station together with the oldies and stuff like this.
10:06And we need blah, blah, blah, blah.
10:07He said, the only person that I know that can assist you and help you is Foodie.
10:12Wow.
10:13That's how you became.
10:14That's how I became and got with, you know, the other situation.
10:18And bingo.
10:19Well, let this be publicly known as well.
10:24I don't know what people say about you.
10:27I just know what you do.
10:29You didn't come over here and kept your mouth closed and closed the door and took the check out.
10:35Oh, absolutely not.
10:36You reached back.
10:37Absolutely.
10:38Foodie pulled me in to be part of the group.
10:41Oh.
10:42And he did it, and he worked it for a while before the meeting ever happened.
10:51And he never told me he was doing all this work.
10:54And he put that together.
10:57And it just so happened, it was sold shortly after we met.
11:02Shortly after that.
11:03I mean, it was a whole, she just wants you to be closer to that.
11:08Oh, you want me to be closer to this microphone?
11:09Yeah, they want to hear that voice.
11:10Oh, am I closer?
11:11That voice.
11:12Yes.
11:13Is this much better?
11:14Yes.
11:15Is this much better?
11:16Yeah.
11:17Well, yeah.
11:18See, that's what happens when a woman's fed up.
11:21Yeah.
11:22Yeah.
11:23Which we're about to get to, too.
11:24Yeah.
11:25So, I mean, you know, and that was the thing because they came to me and they say, Foodie,
11:28we got to get somebody for mornings, you know, blah, blah, blah.
11:31Who do you think?
11:32And I say, hmm.
11:33So I started working on Mason.
11:35That's right.
11:36I started working on Mason and I set everything up and we had a couple of really great meetings
11:42because I've never, you know, gotten this thing to the point where I was all of this
11:49and that, you know, and my whole thing was I wanted to help people, you know, and I was
11:54never afraid of my position.
11:56Yeah.
11:57Never, no matter what I've done in this industry, I was never afraid of my position.
12:01And it's just like I say to everybody, you know, there's more to, as you said, than being
12:05a radio personality.
12:06I was a programmer, all of that, you know what I'm saying?
12:09You know what I'm saying?
12:10But when you turn that front cover, there's a lot of pages in between before you-
12:15You should do a book.
12:16Exactly.
12:17Oh, see there, there, there go again.
12:19You should do a book.
12:20I should do a book.
12:21Because you never, and that's just you, you don't really do your story.
12:28You're very selective with photos, that kind of stuff.
12:31He knows me.
12:32He knows me.
12:33He knows me.
12:34You're very professional.
12:35I've always loved you.
12:37I, so I, I gotta, I gotta, I gotta tell you, girl, I would imitate Foodie out of, out of
12:43so much love for him.
12:44That would be a bid for me.
12:45I'd love it when that would come up and I get a chance to, to imitate him.
12:50Um, a gentleman, uh, who, who has been in the entertainment business a long time.
12:55So you guys are part of a woman's fed up foodie.
13:01How did this come about?
13:03Well, basically the same way it came about with Quran.
13:07Yeah.
13:08I got a call from uncle Nate.
13:11Okay.
13:12And uncle Nate was talking to, you know, gentleman that I worked with years ago who started Tyler
13:18Perry.
13:19And as you know, I was very good instrumental on that run with Tyler Perry.
13:24Yes.
13:25Arthur primus and Arthur called me and you know, he's from Dallas, Texas foodie.
13:31I need you to do me a favor.
13:33Nate's going to be giving you a call.
13:35I need you to help him.
13:38So when they called me, you went to work, he called me and I said, well, I already got,
13:43you know, the message, you know, Arthur told me to help you.
13:47What you got, Nate?
13:48And so we went over everything, you know, the nine yards and we just got to explain it.
13:52And see, there's something about Quran.
13:53So I'm going to tell you this.
13:55We were, um, we were going through, well, what are we going to do with the cast?
13:58So some people, I said, we got to get rid of them.
14:00We can't have it.
14:01I said, they weren't ready.
14:04I mean, they were ready, but they were over, right.
14:08They were over ready.
14:09Okay.
14:10You understand that sometimes like Kenny Rogers says, sometimes you got to know when to hold
14:12them and fold them.
14:13Yeah.
14:14Well, it was time for them to hold and fold it.
14:15Right.
14:16And so I said, blah, blah, blah.
14:17Well, who we going to get?
14:18So Nate kept throwing things at me.
14:20He kept throwing names at me and stuff like that.
14:23So then he threw Quran's name at me.
14:25Wow.
14:26And, uh, I say, Quran, he said, yeah, foodie.
14:29He said, yeah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
14:31He real popular.
14:32He real popular with the ladies.
14:34You know what I'm saying?
14:35And I say, he is handsome.
14:36He is still NFL handsome.
14:38So ladies, I'm telling you.
14:40So you just want a ticket to look.
14:42I'm telling you.
14:43Yeah.
14:44So I say to Nate.
14:45Ladies.
14:46Yes.
14:47Listen to me.
14:48I say Nate, blah, blah, blah.
14:49So we say, foodie, I'm going to send you something.
14:51So he sent me something.
14:52He sent me everything.
14:53I got pictures from Saints and Centers.
14:55Blah, blah, blah.
14:56I got a whole bunch of photos and stuff like that.
14:58And I say, hmm.
14:59I say, you know what, Nate?
15:01I say, I say, you may have a point here.
15:04I say, I say, you may have a point, you know?
15:08And so he say, I'm telling you, foodie, I think that'll work.
15:11I think that'll work.
15:12And so what I did, I pulled the photos.
15:15Yeah.
15:16I pulled the photos and I had to, I had to video the 32nd promo made of Quran.
15:22We insert him into the 32nd TV commercial.
15:26Right.
15:27And then the rest is history.
15:29You know.
15:30Quran, this is fun.
15:31This has got to be fun because you get to come back home.
15:33Yeah.
15:34People get to see you up close and live this time.
15:36Yeah.
15:37You've gone out and made a beautiful career, both in the NFL and in the entertainment industry.
15:42What role do you play in A Woman's Fed Up?
15:46And this one, I was telling you really before we got on air, it was just, this is my introduction to the cast.
15:51Some of these folks have been doing it for a while, like Foodie just said.
15:54Yeah.
15:55And so this run, I'll be playing Cyrus.
15:57It's a little smaller part in this one, but then looking to probably get a bigger part coming in Chicago.
16:02Oh, absolutely.
16:03Moving forward as we continue to get this play back to where it was in the past.
16:07Like they've done this play for 20 years.
16:08Like this is a play that's been going on for a while now.
16:11And the writers, their wives and their daughters are now taking this play.
16:17No kidding!
16:18And they're rebooting it and they're making it current, making it modern, like Foodie said.
16:24Yeah.
16:25And they're modernizing it and giving it, you know, fresh legs and fresh breath.
16:28And I'm just grateful to be a part of it and hopefully I can help get it back to where it's supposed to be.
16:33Oh, you will.
16:34You will.
16:35You've got the knowledge for it.
16:38You've done this.
16:39How many times have you been involved in a stage play?
16:42Man, I've done quite a few.
16:45Nothing super huge nationally, but I would always, as an actor, I took my acting career like I would with athletics.
16:54Everything is a workout for me.
16:56Everything is training.
16:57And if you want to be great on TV and film, you have to be great on the stage first.
17:02And I don't like skipping steps.
17:03So for me, I used to always, every year I was working, I would do multiple TV movies and all those other things.
17:08But I would always try to find a stage at least once a year.
17:11Really?
17:12Yeah.
17:13Just because it's nothing like being on stage, Mason.
17:15It's like there's no cuts.
17:16There's no edits.
17:17There's no stopping.
17:18You have to be in there.
17:19You have to be locked in and you've got to know your stuff.
17:21And there's no other greater training for an actor to be on stage but to be on stage.
17:26When you played in the league, that's obviously a different appreciation for something good that you've done.
17:36How do you compare the two about being live like that?
17:41It's the same.
17:42It's the same, man.
17:43Even when we played and I went into Ohio State and we upset Ohio State in the horseshoe.
17:49Millions of people watching.
17:51Yes.
17:52When you lock in and you're in there with your cast mates or you're on the field with your teammates, it's just you and your teammates.
17:56It's just you and your cast.
17:58And we lock in on that stage and it's us against the world.
18:01Nobody knows what's really going on so we just do our thing and we have fun.
18:05And it's the same energy, same muscles.
18:08You get the energy from the crowd just like you got the energy from the crowd when you're playing.
18:12It's the same thing, man.
18:13Same thing.
18:14Same thing.
18:15Wow.
18:16This is going to be great.
18:17It takes place, Foodie.
18:18It takes place this weekend, Friday and Saturday.
18:22It's going to be three shows.
18:23Eight o'clock show on Friday.
18:25Matinee performance at three o'clock on Saturday and eight o'clock show on Saturday as well.
18:29And guess what?
18:30Because of you, Mason, and Star, this morning I released some really great seats for the eight o'clock performance on Friday.
18:41And also the matinee performance on Saturday and the Saturday evening performance.
18:45Oh, great.
18:46And we just did that.
18:47I just did that this morning.
18:48Actually, I was sitting out in the parking lot.
18:50Because when I went to the ticket place, they're saying seats are going fast.
18:54Go ahead and get your tickets.
18:55Hurry up.
18:56I know they're going to go fast.
18:57Yeah.
18:58I know they're going to go fast.
18:59The cast is strong.
19:00Yeah.
19:01And once we load it in the set, you know how that works.
19:03And then the sight lines and stuff.
19:04I said, wow.
19:05All these rooms.
19:06Here's some music.
19:07Yeah.
19:08So what do you want to do?
19:09I said, I'm going to release these seats.
19:10That's going to be beautiful.
19:11Yeah.
19:12I said, I'm going to announce it on Star and Mason.
19:14There you go.
19:15When I get there.
19:16I like that.
19:17Star and Mason.
19:18And they can actually go to the box office?
19:21Actually, go to the music hall box office.
19:23Direct.
19:24You understand?
19:25That's what I would recommend.
19:26Yep.
19:27Do you understand?
19:28You save maybe on some fees.
19:29You know?
19:30Yep.
19:31By going to the box office.
19:32By going to the box office.
19:33By all means, do that.
19:34And like you said, I mean, we got a dynamic cast.
19:36I mean, you know.
19:37And Patrice, lovely.
19:38Patrice don't get up before.
19:40Hey, you know, you already know Pete Diddy.
19:42Patrice is.
19:43Hey, man.
19:44I told Patrice last night at rehearsal.
19:45I said, you know, we got that radio in the morning.
19:47She looking like we.
19:48We.
19:49When you start speaking French, Karan.
19:51That's funny.
19:52But Karan, you know, we were more than delighted to have you in here this morning.
19:56Well, you know, I got to come see Mason, but I grew up on you, brother, man.
19:59This is all full circle.
20:00Mom, I got chill bumps sitting here in front of you right now, man.
20:03And I'm like, man, this is.
20:04And that's reciprocal because I know what you did at the NFL.
20:08So he has a very lucky celebrity wife.
20:12You were sharing what picture with me, Fruity?
20:14I don't know if you know about this picture.
20:15I got this picture.
20:16Oh, you don't know if you got it.
20:17Should we see?
20:18But I got this picture.
20:19Who's celebrity wife?
20:20Karan.
20:21Oh, no.
20:22Tell him.
20:23Tell him.
20:24Terry.
20:25Terry Vaughn.
20:26Terry J Vaughn.
20:27Oh, say that.
20:28Say that.
20:29No, he is.
20:30Karan, don't get it.
20:32Yes, he did that.
20:33Mason, he is.
20:34Oh, the middle of the niche is the middle of the name?
20:36Yeah.
20:37Oh, no, he's on it.
20:38Oh, yeah.
20:39We had him like, Karan.
20:40And we first started Karan Riley at first.
20:41Karan Riley.
20:42He's like, no.
20:43Karan Joseph.
20:44Karan Joseph Riley.
20:45Karan Joseph Riley.
20:46You got to give me my Joseph.
20:47You got to put that middle of the niche.
20:49Because Foodie, that was by design.
20:51When I played sports, I was Karan Riley.
20:53Right.
20:54When I started acting, I was like, okay.
20:55Because you know everything is digital.
20:56Absolutely.
20:57So I was like, okay, I have to shake the athletic shadow.
21:00So in order to do that, I had to create a new history.
21:03So I started going by Karan Joseph Riley.
21:05So if you put in that in Google, you'll get different things based on which name you put in.
21:09Which name you put in.
21:10Right.
21:11Yeah.
21:12So I was like, I just need people to lock in because everybody want to drop the Joseph.
21:14I'm like, yo, don't drop the Joseph.
21:15You know what I'm saying?
21:16Because I love it.
21:17I love it.
21:18We had to change everything, Mason.
21:19There you go.
21:20All the flyers, all the phones.
21:21That's what he got to do, though.
21:22I mean, everything.
21:23And this is home for him.
21:24Exactly.
21:25That's funny.
21:26Yeah.
21:27I appreciate that, though, Foodie.
21:28Karan, thank you, though, man, for coming.
21:29You're welcome, man.
21:30I'm glad you came, King Crusader.
21:32Yeah.
21:33Who has done so much to make us all look good around the world.
21:37Yeah.
21:38We appreciate what you do, man.
21:39I do it for the culture, man.
21:40I do it for home.
21:41I do it for our people, man.
21:42Everything I do, I do it for us.
21:43Excellent.
21:44I just want to, just one thing, Mason, if I could.
21:47We do have more Detroiters in the play.
21:49Oh, yeah?
21:50As well, yeah.
21:51Yvonne Dowell.
21:52Okay.
21:53Yvonne, her.
21:54She's in the play.
21:55And also Lauren Harper.
21:56Lauren, yeah.
21:57And they are amazing.
21:58Yeah.
21:59Wow.
22:00Amazing.
22:01So we brought everybody home.
22:03That's good.
22:04Foodie, beautiful.
22:05Thank you, man.
22:06When a woman's fed up.
22:07When a woman's fed up.
22:08Ain't nothing you can do about it.
22:09Friday.
22:10Ain't nothing you can do about it.
22:11Saturday, 3 o'clock and 8 o'clock at the music hall.
22:15I'm getting calls now trying to get tickets.
22:17I know.
22:18Get your tickets, get your tickets, get your tickets, get your tickets.
22:19Go to the box office for it.
22:20Get your tickets.
22:21I got to say this since I got Foodie in here.
22:23I've always loved your voice on the radio.
22:25I think you were made to do radio.
22:26Me too.
22:27That's why I try to imitate it.
22:28Yes.
22:29But your other gift, I don't care what show I go to.
22:34If you are hosting, you are always on point.
22:39And I host, and I know sometimes you kind of gotta-
22:41She's foodie, foodie.
22:42She's been telling me this story for two years.
22:43You are like the GOAT.
22:45You know how to control the audience.
22:47You know how not to go too long.
22:49You keep it right where it need to be.
22:52You are just, to me, you are the ultimate host.
22:55And Detroit loves you.
22:56Well done.
22:58Thank you so much.
22:59Make a phone call to Billy Sparks.
23:00He'll tell you that.
23:01He's a foodie.
23:02He's my man.
23:03I know that's right.
23:04Foodie's my guy.
23:05Foodie's my guy.
23:06For me, all I can do is ask Eddie LaVert.
23:08Oh, oh, oh.
23:09He's the old mace.
23:10Oh, yeah.
23:11Yeah, Eddie LaVert.
23:12Oh, you know I love me some foodie mace.
23:16You are amazing.
23:17Go ahead.
23:18You see, I can tell you right now.
23:19Eddie LaVert's phone number.
23:21Wow.
23:22Cell phone number.
23:23Stevie Wonder's cell phone number.
23:24You know that.
23:25Yeah.
23:26Ron Isley, cell phone number and home number and the wife's number.
23:29That's right.
23:30I'm telling you.
23:31See, it's just about coming together.
23:32See, because I just didn't want to be just an on-air radio personality or a promoter.
23:37I wanted to be a friend.
23:39See, I wanted to be a friend.
23:40You know, see, I was always told my dad, he said, you going to be either like Stevie in
23:45the song.
23:46My dad told me that a long time ago, you just can't be of it.
23:49You got to be in it.
23:50There you go.
23:51You got to be in it.
23:52You understand?
23:53You got to do multiple things.
23:55You have to do multiple things.
23:57And so I took those lessons, you know, and I applied it.
24:00There you go.
24:01And that's why this crazy kid ran track, played basketball, played football, goes to
24:06the NFL, gets into Hollywood.
24:08I mean, I can't be proud of foodie, of Mr. Joseph Riley.
24:14You have to put that Joseph in there.
24:18You got to put the career, yeah.
24:19And foodie.
24:20And now you got my number.
24:21Career ain't got Karan Joseph Riley's number.
24:23He can sell number.
24:24Yeah.
24:25Yeah.
24:26Man, thank you.
24:27We'll see you at the start.
24:28Thank you so much.
