00:00I have a feeling when this guy uses the litter box, everybody in Snake Mountain knows it.
00:05Here's your look at the brand new Mattel He-Man of the Master Universe New Eternia, Mattel Creations Exclusive, Panthor.
00:10The much-anticipated arrival of the new Eternia, Panthor, into the multiverse lineup is here, and his debut does not disappoint.
00:34Fully armed, including a holster and a saddle for Skeletor's Havoc Staff, this perilous Panthor features 16 points of articulation, a removable saddle and helmet, and an articulated jaw to show off his evil snarl.
00:46He-Man may have been first to have Grayskull, but Skeletor's first to have his kitty.
00:50Before, though, we get a closer look at the Mattel Creations, Panthor. Let's take the tape measure and see how tall and how long this actually is.
00:56I know technically He-Man did get himself a battle cat who was part of the Revelations line, but I don't think we've yet to get ourselves a true New Eternia battle cat.
01:04And I would imagine, though, that Panthor here is probably going to be the building blocks of Battle Cat.
01:08Taking, though, again, the tape measure, I don't know if we really want to go from the end of its tail or really the end of its behind.
01:14Maybe what we'll do is we'll go from the end of its behind to the front of its snout.
01:17Panthor is going to be 10 inches in length, or it's going to be roughly about 26 centimeters long.
01:23Now, with the saddle, you could technically take the saddle off if you want to.
01:27I probably have no real reason not to have it left on.
01:30Obviously, Skeletor can't be just riding bareback.
01:33Wait, what?
01:34For the saddle, though, to factor that in, you're looking at it being about 7 1⁄2 inches in height, or roughly about 19 centimeters tall.
01:42The only other Panthor I have in my collection, obviously, is the one from the Origins line.
01:46Now, there was, again, the flocked version of Panthor.
01:49It was one of those weird things that I had picked up already the original release of it that didn't obviously have the flocking.
01:54And then by the time I just saw the flocked version of Panthor, which I still continue to see in stores, just never really felt the need to buy myself another Panthor.
02:01I kind of really wish that Panthor was just released initially in his flocked state.
02:05Having already now this guy in my collection, I don't really feel the need to get myself the flocked version.
02:09I say that now.
02:10I'm probably going to be eventually getting that itch and eventually buying myself a Panthor when he's marked down low enough.
02:15From sizing, of course, when you see the two together, there's no way that you'd mistake one for the other.
02:20Clearly, though, the Origins one is a lot smaller in size.
02:24It's a lot brighter also as well.
02:25A couple of Skeletors, clearly, that can also ride on top of Panthor.
02:28Here's what the figure looks like with the recently looked at.
02:31This was the vintage collection Skeletor.
02:32Sorry, I'm just going to move Panthor out of the way.
02:34And here's also what he looks like with the Battle Armor Skeletor from the New Eternia, although I have taken the time to remove his shoulder pads.
02:40I know I'm guilty for never showing you guys the packaging.
02:42I'll make the exception this time because Panthor's box is pretty cool.
02:46Just kind of move the Panthor out of the way here and all the accessories that come included with him and bring in the box for Panthor.
02:52Certainly the valid point for anybody who wants to keep things mint on card, or in this case, mint in box.
02:57The box is so cool, I'm definitely never going to throw it away.
02:59On the front, you can clearly see a really nice drawn image here of Panthor.
03:03It continues down below here as well, where in the far distance, we get ourselves Mekanek.
03:08The far distance, though, gets up close.
03:10As you can see, that Mekanek now is battling Skeletor and Panthor, now featuring his headdress piece on top of his head.
03:17Now, not only do we get ourselves a nice-looking box, but actually inside the box, too, we get ourselves an insert.
03:21It's a double-sided insert.
03:23On one side, we have Skeletor, again, a very classic-looking Skeletor, with a spear,
03:27one of the included accessories for Panthor, in his hand.
03:30Panthor being displayed what looks to be almost like a vine area, like kind of off into the woods.
03:35It almost even looks like the Fright Zone off to the far distance.
03:37But it's not just that.
03:39If you flip it around, we get ourselves sort of a concept idea of what Snake Mountain would have originally looked like.
03:45It's not that different, really.
03:47And I don't know if this probably would have been conceptually drawn specifically for Panthor.
03:51I don't know if this was the original concept art.
03:53Probably wasn't.
03:54But I'd like to kind of look at something like this and think that this was the original concept idea
03:58before Mattel decided to design and craft Snake Mountain from plastic.
04:02Of course, we've got the familiar beak face here.
04:04We've got some serpents there off to the side.
04:06Kind of really cool-looking faces off to the side as well.
04:09Definitely never going to throw this away.
04:11And even though I'm probably planning just to have Panther displayed on the shelf,
04:14I have no plans at all to throw away this box.
04:16Too cool to throw away.
04:18Okay, with that all out of the way, let's move Panther back in the center frame here.
04:21Of the accessories, though, that come included with the figure.
04:24Now, technically, the saddle is one thing that's already on him when you get him out of the box.
04:27You don't have to worry about that at all.
04:29The only little bit of assembly that's required is that you have to take one of the stirrups.
04:32One is already attached onto the figure.
04:34I think, actually, is he sitting inside the box this way?
04:37Maybe he is.
04:37So that maybe is the saddle that you have to attach, the stirrup that you have to attach.
04:41They're basically just attached by plastic.
04:43If I can pull one away, you can see basically what it would look like when you get it out of the box.
04:47So there's a hole on the end of the stirrup, there's a little plastic peg or a little rubberized peg.
04:52And you just plug it onto the saddle.
04:54Now, again, the first time I'm doing this, maybe I shouldn't have pulled this away from the saddle.
04:57Because I'm sure I'm probably going to now have a hard time getting it back in place.
05:01But basically, that just attaches onto the saddle.
05:04Make sure it's all the way on there.
05:07There we go.
05:08Okay.
05:09Now, the saddle can technically be detached if you want to.
05:12Let's just say you're somebody who likes just to have panthor displayed alongside the throne of Skeletor.
05:16Which is another release we've gotten from Mattel.
05:18I would like to get at some point that Skeletor throne.
05:21But if, let's just say, you're one of those collectors that do really want to have panthor displayed without the saddle.
05:25All that's really required is these straps.
05:27These rubberized straps just have to be detached and just fed through the loops.
05:31And basically, we just take the entire saddle off.
05:34Now, when we do get, I'm sure, this recasting of this mold of panthor reused and retooled for Battle Cat.
05:39Clearly, though, the harness is going to be one thing.
05:41The saddle is going to be one thing that's going to be different between this release of panthor and the eventual release.
05:46We know what's going to happen of Battle Cat.
05:48The one other included accessories.
05:50I guess one other thing, too, speaking of removing the saddle, is that you can also remove the bracers that are on the front of his feet.
05:56I'm sure that's only required is just to detach the feet down below here.
05:59And then you'd be able to slide these right off.
06:00I think it adds some charm and appeal.
06:02And it brings, again, like that much-needed teal color down below here as well.
06:05So, for me, I'm just only going to leave them on anyways.
06:08I suppose, though, it could be something you could detach if you don't like them.
06:12Okay, so of the other things that come in clear with panthor, he has the spear.
06:15Now, we see the spear on the artwork I just finished showing you guys.
06:19Skeletor does have it also in his hand.
06:21The thing I really like about the spear, though, is the way it looks like it's been hand-forged.
06:24We, of course, have got the skeletal up at the top there as well.
06:27The skull on both sides.
06:29Now, there are stored spaces on panthor that technically you could take yourself the spear.
06:33Or if, for example, you happen to have yourself a Havoc Staff, I just happen to have, just on the righty.
06:38It's like I had this all prepared.
06:39A Havoc Staff just off to the side.
06:41Either one of these essentially have the same length and width of handle.
06:45These can be holstered in two places.
06:48One place is actually these little ringlets on the back of a saddle.
06:51So, like if, for example, you want to take yourself the spear, there's nothing really to kind of hold this in place.
06:55But if you have it on an angle and you rest it against the back hind leg of panthor, it does a good enough job of keeping the spear at bay.
07:02That same technically rule applies as well for the Havoc Staff.
07:06Basically, you just take the Havoc Staff, feed it through the looplet here.
07:10There we go.
07:11And basically just rest it against like that.
07:14Now, that's not going to stay the most secure.
07:16However, though, there's a second storage place right here on the side.
07:20And basically just take yourself that staff or the spear, feed it through the looplet here.
07:25And you will probably see that that's a much more secure fit.
07:29So that's not going to be going anywhere.
07:31Now, you could also even double it up as well.
07:33Just take the ringlet we just finished having looking at and feed it through that way.
07:36You can do it with the Havoc Staff.
07:38You can also do it here as well on the other side with the spear.
07:41And it works the same way.
07:42Loop it through the front and either, again, put it through the ringlet on the back or just independently loop it only through the front.
07:48So some storage space there as well.
07:49So, yeah, I would have really liked, speaking of the Havoc Staff, one of the advertisements or one of the things that they market Panther with is the means that they do actually have a storage place for the Havoc Staff.
07:59You know, I actually would have liked if they put like a little ringlet right here, something that was part of actually of the saddle, where you could have had like the Havoc Staff upright this way.
08:10Now, there's real no way to do this.
08:11I mean, clearly, if you're going to just try to put it in the ringlet this way, the Havoc Staff is just going to fall and slip through straight through.
08:17But if they had only maybe put like a little separate compartment space where the Havoc Staff could have attached in place, then you could have had the Havoc Staff displayed that way.
08:26Just something I would have preferred myself.
08:28The one other thing that comes in clear with Panther as well.
08:31You know, when I look at something like this, it really reminds me of what we got with the Mondo release of Panther, where you had a very elaborate looking armor headdress piece.
08:39Now, this headdress is very soft in plastic.
08:42You can see it's very well sculpted.
08:44And again, it has very much, if you don't really look at the spikes on the top, it has very much a look like Battle Cat.
08:50And of course, this just attaches onto the front of his face.
08:54When you do attach it, though, you want to kind of make sure that you get around his ears.
08:58Once it's on his ears, though, or kind of once it's sitting on top of his ears, because you can see like this little area right here will essentially just fit very comfortably over top of the ears of Panther.
09:07So once you do all that, line it up in place, Panther is ready for battle.
09:12A Battle Cat?
09:12A Battle Cat? No, no, no, not quite a Battle Cat.
09:15And of course, he does also have mouth articulation, so you can open that up as well.
09:18Boy, what a ferocious little kitty.
09:20Oh, he's a cute little kitty.
09:22So go ahead and actually just take that off right now.
09:24And obviously, if you guys want to see what Skeletor looks like with that as well, taking out some of the Vintage Skeletor.
09:30It doesn't really matter which one that you really want to use.
09:32Basically, just take yourself your Skeletor, get him in somewhat a seated position.
09:36Skeletor then sits on the top.
09:37Then you take yourself the stirrups, and Skeletor's little feet sit inside of that.
09:42And you basically just do it on the other side as well.
09:44So that's what Skeletor looks like essentially on the top of Panther.
09:47Now, whether you want to use, say, this Skeletor, or if, say, for example, you want to stick with still New Eternia, you could also use the Battle Armor.
09:54One idea I also kind of did have as well is to get myself maybe another Vintage Skeletor.
09:59Say you like the armor, say you don't like the head, though, which you can also do, too.
10:03I mean, not that this is necessarily a review on Skeletor, but you can also swap the heads around.
10:08One of the reasons also why I chose to take the shoulder pieces off, I was kind of toying around with the idea, toying around with the idea of taking perhaps the head off this one, putting on the Vintage Skeletor.
10:19And, like, proportionally, you know, again, he's a little on the longer side, but at least he doesn't have the big swollen torso.
10:25So there's also that available option as well.
10:29Just as an idea. But for at least right now, let's beeline it back to the original Skeletor, the Vintage Skeletor.
10:34Snap that back in place.
10:35Yeah, again, like, you could just have, choose this Skeletor.
10:38You can also go with the New Eternia, the Barbarian Skeletor, which also had a very cool classic look to him as well.
10:44And, again, Skeletor sits very easily on top of the saddle here of Panther.
10:48Okay, so let's discuss the one elephant in the room.
10:52I thought we were talking about cats. Technically, we were.
10:54One of the biggest issues I think a lot of people are facing is the coloring of Panther.
10:58I'm going to kind of obviously add my two cents when it comes to this.
11:01The saddle isn't so much the issue that clearly, like, they kind of went with more of the metallic look.
11:05I mean, if this is made of metal, it would make, obviously, sense that this would have more of a sheen to it.
11:10The big issue that a lot of people really have had with Panther is the fact he's a shinier purple plastic and not going the right of maybe, like, a matte purple.
11:17I will say, like, getting this guy out of the packaging and spending the time that I've had spent with this,
11:23this shinier purple doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would.
11:27The images that I've certainly seen online and other reviews of this guy, the metallic look of Panther really did bother me.
11:33But I was kind of thinking to myself, I mean, we're not really going to be, obviously, comparing him with the Origins Panther or the Flock version, for that matter.
11:39I like the darker purple, but the sheen of that metallic finish sort of was very much jarring for me when I first saw images of him.
11:47Yet, though, when I think to it, I kind of think to myself, he's a magical cat.
11:51He's an oversized Eternian cat.
11:53The idea of maybe giving a metallic purple like this isn't maybe so much of a bad idea.
11:57I wouldn't want this trend to continue, though, when we eventually get ourselves Cringer or Battle Cat, for that matter.
12:03A shinier green is definitely going to cut it.
12:05However, though, again, I think for a Panther, the metallic purple doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would.
12:11I still really wish, though, that this could have been a matte purple.
12:15But having it, though, like metallic finish like this, I think I'm warming more up to it than I really thought I would.
12:21Now, it's kind of really hard to make out how much other details are added to Panther here, just because, again, like the sheen of the plastic.
12:27But he does also have these little spots on the tops of his fur, on the back and on his hind legs as well.
12:32A nice little attention to detail.
12:33You can certainly see the undercarriage or the undercats, so to speak.
12:36The mouth is really nicely sculpted.
12:38I really like the way they've done the cat ears or the cat eyes.
12:41Really nice, really nice detailing there.
12:43The mouth obviously does open and close.
12:46The thing that's kind of interesting about it, though, is when the mouth is closed, he doesn't have visible top teeth.
12:51He only has the fangs.
12:52However, though, a nice little way to construct the figure, when you drop the bottom jaw down, it also drops the top teeth down, too.
13:00Sort of on a lever mechanism.
13:02So, again, you bring that up.
13:03You only have the front fangs.
13:05When you drop the mouth down, you also get the second row of teeth, or the main front teeth as well.
13:10Really clever the way that they did that.
13:12I mean, it also means, too, that the mouth can sit a lot closer to itself without having a gap space to account for the fact he does also have to have the front teeth.
13:19Now, when we, say, for example, looked at Origins Panther, bringing him back right now, Origins Panther and Battle Cat only really had the top teeth and the bottom fangs.
13:27That's all he had.
13:28So, I mean, obviously, with the price point of this guy being a little bit more, yeah, they spent a little bit more time to design this guy.
13:35I really like the look of the mouth that way.
13:37So, the figure's articulation.
13:39Panther's head is going to be on a head rotational via that ball joint.
13:42It allows the head to rotate all the way around.
13:45You can also move the head down and up, and you can also move it back and forth as well.
13:49Not only to that, though, the figure does also have, at the base of its neck, the same thing.
13:53Basically, it has the same ball joint.
13:55So, it moves up and down, back, maybe not as much back and forth, but more up and down.
14:00Each of the individual legs do have a split.
14:02You can bring the legs about that far out.
14:04You can take the movement forward and move them back.
14:07There is a front hinge on the leg, which feels almost like it's a ratcheted joint.
14:11The lower leg does also rotate as well, and there's a hinge here for the paws.
14:16I will say, though, composing my thoughts, I will say, though, that the ball joints for the feet,
14:20and even some of the cases of, like the legs, for example, seem loose.
14:24It shouldn't seem this loose, really, considering that this is a brand new mold.
14:28First and only time we've actually gotten this mold.
14:30It shouldn't already have looseness in it, especially in its back hind legs.
14:33It's always really a problem that faces any cat like this, Battle Cat or Panthor,
14:38because you're going to have the weight of also a plastic figure that's going to be sitting on top of that.
14:42You don't want to think that the figure's going to develop looseness, especially in all places in its legs.
14:46The back hind legs work a big...
14:48Well, first of all, I guess he does have a swivel at the back of his waist, or I guess the back of his behind.
14:53So he essentially has a ball joint here.
14:55I move a little further, right there.
14:57So essentially he's got a ball joint here and a ball joint here, and you can kind of move them up and down as well.
15:02The hind legs work essentially the same way as the front legs, so they move forward and back.
15:06There's a split right there as well.
15:09Now, these legs actually have a hinge that goes forward and back, and a hinge down below that does the same.
15:14Ball joint's also down below here for its feet.
15:16Again, the underpaddings of the feet really look nice.
15:18And there's also some tail articulation as well.
15:21One last time, before we kind of wrap up the reviews, I want to show you guys what the back saddle looks like.
15:26Very heavily, heavily detailed.
15:28Sort of has a tortoise shell on the top there.
15:31Of course, you've got yourself as well a skull there featured on the front, and a skull on the back as well.
15:35Skeletor's all about skulls.
15:37I mean, he literally is a walking skull.
15:39All in all, though, it's a really nice-looking panthor.
15:42Again, it's one of those things where Skeletor has He-Man beats.
15:45Usually, He-Man is always the first to have everything.
15:47Panthor essentially was a recasting and a reused mold of Battle Cat.
15:52Yet, this time around, Skeletor actually has himself his steed long before He-Man does.
15:56I mean, clearly everybody knows the writing on the wall.
15:59This Hordak, or this Hordak, this panthor is still essentially going to be recast.
16:04You know it's going to happen at some point, that we are going to be getting ourselves a Battle Cat from the resulting release of Panthor.
16:10Some, again, would probably be a little bit more bothered by the fact that there's that metallic purple finish on the plastic.
16:16The more though I look at it, you know, I was on the same page as you guys, believe you me.
16:21I thought to myself, why would they have gone with a metallic finish?
16:23I almost even thought like it was an error on the factory, where like the memo sent off to the factory said,
16:28OK, well, we want a metallic on the helmet and on the saddle, and everything else basically would be the purple.
16:34And then someone on the factory looked at that and said, oh, everything's supposed to be the metallic finish.
16:38OK, we'll give the purple finish then to the body.
16:40We'll do then the same treatment then to the helmet and the saddle.
16:43I don't know if it was an error on the part of Mattel's that he was really never to be intended to be released in a metallic finish.
16:49But being the fact, of course, he's a big giant cat in the land of Eternia,
16:52I can kind of get behind the idea that he's more metallic than he is a matte purple plastic.
16:58Again, I don't know if it's a trend I would want to see continue for a Battle Cat moving forward.
17:02Battle Cat should not be, I express this highly, should not be a metallic green.
17:07But yet somehow it works OK for Skeletor's steed.
17:10Just as Panther is loyal to Skeletor and Snake Mountain,
17:12the new Eternia, Panther, is only available to loyal fans and collectors of Mass Universe
17:17who only shop through Mattel Creation's site.
17:19Loyal collectors who have to pay the $9.99 upfront fee for the subscription service
17:24can then unlock all the exclusive figures that are only available on their site.
17:28Panther is available, yes, he's $40, but you can't get the figure on its own.
17:33You have to be willing to pay the $9.99.
17:35Now, I had already paid that when I bought myself my Hero,
17:39so it means that every other figure that pops up that's only available on their site,
17:43if you pay that fee, you can already get your hands on any figure that then shows up.
17:47Panther, again, for $40 is not a bad price at all.
17:50He's a well-detailed figure, and I know that some people really didn't like the look of the metallic purple.
17:55So, hopefully, reviews like this and other reviews on YouTube can maybe help convince the people
17:59that have been on the fence as to whether they like this look or not.
18:03Skeletor does look quite good on top of him.
18:05I mean, obviously, you can use whatever Skeletor that you want.
18:07For me, at least, right now, I'm going to be deciding to display him with the vintage Skeletor
18:12because that's got the most classic look.
18:14Now, speaking of the classic look, if you choose, you can obviously just remove the helmet altogether.
18:18I think the helmet adds an appeal to him,
18:20and also, when we get the subsequent release, you know it's going to happen.
18:23A battle cat has a helmet on his head.
18:27I feel like Panther should also do the same.
18:29What do you guys think of Panther?
18:30Let me know down below in the comments section.
18:33Are you bothered also as well the fact that this guy has a metallic purple plastic?
18:37Or do you kind of like the look of him?
18:38What do you guys think of him?
18:39Let me know down below in the comments section.
18:41If you guys also did enjoy this video, you can do it a solid throw to like.
18:44You guys want to stick around for more so?
18:46I hope so.
18:46Hit that subscribe, turn on that bell, and, of course, come back.
18:49While we may be wrapping up things right now for Master of the Universe figures,
18:52there will, though, be more reviews for the rest of this remainder of the week.
18:55As always, guys, thanks for watching.
18:57See you guys next time.
18:58Bye-bye.
19:06Bye-bye.
