At the start of the afternoon it will be cloudy in most parts of the UK, though there will be some blue skies in northern Scotland, with isolated showers in southern England. As the afternoon progresses the cloud will break up a little in eastern England for some sunshine later on in the day but elsewhere it will remain cloudy but dry. Temperatures are set to be quite low for the time of year.- This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the afternoon of 17/03/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Aidan McGivern.

00:00Hi there, the weather will turn sunnier and a little warmer during the next few days but
00:04before we get there, it's a cloudy and relatively cold start to the new week with a lot of relatively
00:11low cloud across the UK for Monday afternoon.
00:14The thickest cloud will remain across the south and south-west with a few light showers
00:18here.
00:19Showers towards the north-east tending to fade away and brighter skies beginning to
00:23emerge by the end of the afternoon into some eastern and northern parts but for most it's
00:28going to stay cloudy and it's going to feel on the cold side particularly where we've
00:32got that brisk wind in the south and south-west and the east coast as well will feel chilly
00:38with the wind coming from the North Sea but that wind is going to import increasingly
00:43dry and clear air overnight with those clear skies becoming widespread into the north and
00:49east of the UK, later into the south as well.
00:52Now in the south we keep that breeze so it's going to stay frost free here and Northern
00:57Ireland we keep a lot of cloud but elsewhere a widespread frost forming some parts of Northern
01:02UK seeing temperatures below minus 5 Celsius.
01:06A chilly but bright start to the day for Scotland, Northern, Central and Eastern England, plenty
01:11of blue skies developing across the bulk of Britain but for Northern Ireland we keep cloudier
01:16skies although some sunshine starts to emerge into the east towards the end of the day.
01:23It's going to still feel relatively cold in the wind but out of the wind with the increasing
01:28spells of sunshine and temperatures a little higher compared with Monday feeling a bit
01:31more pleasant.
01:32Top temperature 11, 12 or even 13 Celsius in one or two spots.
01:37Now overnight on Tuesday again we see clear skies, we see that breeze and as a result
01:43temperatures are going to fall away from windward coasts but as we go through Wednesday, Thursday
01:50and indeed into the start of Friday we're going to continue to see southerly or southeasterly
01:55winds bring milder and sunnier weather across the whole of the UK but eventually by the
02:00end of the week this area of low pressure will come into play bringing increasing spells
02:04of showers in from the southwest leading to a wetter weekend for many of us.
