Dry, sunny and warm conditions continue as high pressure continues to dominate the UK. However, it will be feeling cooler in the northeast of Scotland, Shetland and northeastern England as a result of the northeasterly breeze which will bring some low cloud also. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the afternoon of 05/04/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Greg Dewhurst.

00:00Hello, there. Welcome to your latest Met Office forecast. High pressure continues to dominate
00:06the weather scene at the moment and will do for much of next week as well. Currently,
00:10though, sat to the north of the U.K., it means an easterly breeze. It's quite strong at times
00:14too and anywhere exposed to that easterly breeze along the East Coast, it will be chilly.
00:18But it generally stays dry and settled right through the rest of the weekend and into next
00:22week as well. So, let's look at the details for Saturday
00:25afternoon. Plenty of blue skies across the country, though, there are some exceptions
00:30and that's north-east England across into eastern and north-eastern Scotland, Shetland
00:34and Orkney as well, seeing some clouds. Some of this will be low cloud at times too. So,
00:38there may be limited amounts of sunshine here, but elsewhere, plenty of blue skies, perhaps
00:43a little bit of high cloud at times, a little bit of cumulus bubbling up, but it's easterly
00:48breeze that will be noticeable particularly across western parts of the country, Wales,
00:52south-west England, gusts here around 35, 40 miles an hour possible, which exposed to
00:56it may just feel a little bit chilly. But in that sunshine, temperatures not quite as
01:01high as yesterday, but still reaching the low 20s, 21, 22 Celsius possible for one or
01:06two spots. But just notice the east temperatures here struggling a little bit, perhaps one
01:11or two areas just staying in single figures where we don't see much sunshine at all and
01:16a little bit cooler for Northern Ireland, western parts of Scotland too. But for most,
01:20it's dry and sunny and sunshine is increasing in strength at this time of the year for most
01:26moderate levels four or five, just a little bit lower in the northeast where we have that
01:31cloud cover. So, into the evening time, it's a fine end to the day for many, lots of sunshine
01:38before dusk. The wind starts to ease a little bit, but just notice as we head through the
01:42latter part of the evening into the early hours, some low cloud moves back inland across
01:47parts of Northern England and Scotland as well. And it's a little bit of blue on the
01:51map there indicating temperatures dipping close to if not just below freezing. So, patchy
01:56frost forming. So, gardeners beware here. Elsewhere, a few shallow mist and fog patches
02:01forming, but temperatures should stay above freezing for most. Again, prone country spots
02:06perhaps just getting close to freezing. But that means for most, a lovely sunny start
02:10to the day on Sunday. Blue skies for all, just a little bit of low cloud initially,
02:15but they're soon clearing away in the low cloud across northern and eastern parts of
02:19Scotland, just generally pushing its way northwards. So, generally the cloudiest skies for parts
02:23of Orkney and Shetland, but hopefully some brighter spells at times too. The sunshine
02:27turning hazy at times across eastern England into Scotland, but for most, again, lots of
02:32blue skies, lots of sunshine to come. And wind's just a little lighter tomorrow compared
02:38to today. And temperatures overall, again, high teens, just down maybe a notch on Saturday's
02:44maximum temperatures, but perhaps one or two spots getting close to 20 Celsius. And
02:48the east here, temperatures again with the winds coming off the North Sea, struggling
02:52around 10, 11 Celsius. Perhaps some low cloud developing at times, but I'm hopeful most
02:57places will be sunny. At this time of the year, lots of sunshine around. Pollen levels
03:03start to rise and it's tree pollen at the moment, generally high to very high levels
03:07across England and Wales, just a little lower further north across northern Ireland and
03:12Scotland. Into the evening on Sunday, a fine end to the day for many, just perhaps some
03:17mist and fog patches forming as temperatures fall away into the early hours, and again
03:22a frost forming in places too. If you'd like more information on the weather where you
03:27are for the next few days, the rest of the weekend, you can follow us on our social media
