00:01It's been a big day here at Winton and there's been plenty of incidents.
00:05This is one from the Formula Holdens and watch this.
00:09The photographers by the side of the track, incredibly lucky not to be injured in that one.
00:14That could have been very, very dangerous. It was very dangerous.
00:17It could have been a very bad outcome indeed.
00:19Catch all the action in that one, the highlights of Formula Holden and much more next week in Trackside.
00:23Three to five, but as always, check your local guides.
00:26Glenn Seton on pole for this one, courtesy of his victory in the last race.
00:29Tander, Barguana and Murphy row two, Lowndes and Radisic row three, Bowen Kelly on row four.
00:34Stephen Ellery and Stephen Richards will start out of five.
00:36Rodney Forbes and Stephen Johnson in the Shelf Falcon.
00:39Out of 12, Craig Baird and Mark Scape.
00:41What a great drive that from the back of the grid up to 14th.
00:43Expect him in the top ten by the end of this one.
00:45Paul Morris and Cameron McLean out of 16.
00:48Couple of other people to watch out for. Mark Larkham in this one.
00:50Watch Neil Crompton as well had some tyre troubles towards the end of race two.
00:54Further back, Trevor Ashby and Rod Nash on row 12.
00:57Brad Jones and Paul Wheeler and all sorts of dramas in those races.
01:01Steve Reid, John Faulkner, Chris Smurton, Dougal McDougal, John Cotter and Cameron McConville in the auto pro car getting tangled up with Russell Engel.
01:10And Engel there starting from position 33.
01:12Tyler Mecklen and Anthony Tratt at the back of the field.
01:14Tratt has been in the wars today.
01:16Mecklen making his V8 supercar debut in the TDK Commodore.
01:21Here is John Bauer carrying our Be Clear and Simple onboard camera.
01:25The Caterpillar forward will start from grid position seven.
01:29Glenn Seaton.
01:30Can this man bring it home?
01:32There is the point situation.
01:34Tanner and Seaton tied on 76 points for the day.
01:37So whoever wins this will take top spot on the podium.
01:40But look at the battle for third.
01:41Bargwana, Lowndes and Murphy also equal on points.
01:44Whoever wins out of those three will take the third spot on the podium.
01:47So it's a real mystery at the moment who's going to stand on that top spot at the end of today.
01:51It was a long time between drinks for Seaton.
01:53The last one.
01:54His first race wins in Simmons Plains in 98.
01:57Can he repeat it in the third and final race of the day?
02:00This is round eight of the championship.
02:02Away we go.
02:03Tanner makes a great start.
02:04Seaton like a lightning bolt on the line.
02:06Has got the line towards turn one for the first time.
02:09Bargwana coming for the run.
02:10Tanner tucks into second place to the Valvoline Cummins Commodores.
02:13Running second and third.
02:14Murphy into fourth place.
02:15Look at Bargwana sideways.
02:17Everyone holds their breath as they come through the first number of corners.
02:22They've sorted themselves out there.
02:245-1. Oh, look at that.
02:25Bit of a tag on the back from the Kmart Commodore.
02:27The Valvoline Cummins machine has a bit of loose bodywork flapping off the back.
02:31There's this big thundering field.
02:34The V8 says one in trouble.
02:35Stephen Ellery in the super cheap autos falcon.
02:37Well placed in race two, but he goes right to the back of the grid.
02:40What a shame for the Queensland-based outfit.
02:42Look at Seaton sideways on cold tyres.
02:45As the field streams into Penright corner for the first time.
02:48This infield section.
02:49Now the Strathfield hairpin.
02:51Look at Tanda.
02:52Coming right into your living room once again as he tried to do in the previous race.
02:56It looks like there's been a bit of a touch.
02:58Do you see the smoke coming there from the rear left of Seaton's car?
03:04Well it's the battle for top honours as we said before this race started.
03:07Whoever wins out of these two.
03:08Tanda and Seaton will take top spot on the podium this afternoon.
03:12And look at this.
03:13Paul Lowe is down the inside.
03:14Wheel up in the air.
03:15Cameron McLean just drops the wheel off the edge of the track.
03:19Gets it back on the racing line.
03:20With all sorts of action in the opening lap of P3.
03:23Keep you posted on this one.
03:25A variety of outcomes could determine who is top of the podium.
03:29At the end of the day.
03:30Look at Tanda having a quick look down there.
03:31I wonder if he made some sort of adjustment to the anti-roll bars.
03:35His teammate Barguana now right there with him.
03:37So too Greg Murphy.
03:38A trio of Commodores hounding down this sole forward out in front.
03:42Sort of an echo of Eastern Creek with Paul Radisic.
03:44Look at the front of the queue.
03:46And this heat now coming from Tanda.
03:48As he looks at the inside of Glen Seaton.
03:50Barguana in there too.
03:52Murphy.
03:54In form.
03:55Then it's Radisic.
03:56Lowndes.
03:57Bell.
03:58Richards.
03:59Kelly.
04:00All the way back to Forms in 10th.
04:01Glen Seaton defending hard in the front of this pack.
04:03Shell Helix replay.
04:04This is up for the start, Bess.
04:06Yeah, it turns out.
04:07Yeah.
04:10Not had a good day.
04:11The Victorian in the Asuron Line Commodore.
04:13He rejoins the field.
04:14This is another look.
04:15From up high on our cherry picker.
04:18Oh, there's a big tangle of cars.
04:20About three or four wide there.
04:21They just won't go into there.
04:23That's two wide maximum.
04:28Yeah, it slips.
04:30Oh, that's your touch with Seaton now.
04:33That's where the smoke's coming from.
04:34Right near the pit entry road.
04:36So just giving Glen a wake-up call as if you need a run.
04:39That's scathing.
04:40Up the inside of Steven Johnson.
04:42So he's continuing his charge toward the front.
04:46Glen Seaton, though, is leading this one.
04:48Fastest lap so far.
04:491.31.71.
04:50And the FTR Falcon up the inside.
04:53Craig Baird.
04:54So Steven Johnson getting hammered.
04:56Left, right and centre.
04:58Tony Long has two in the second.
05:00Someone's gone there.
05:01Steven Richards.
05:02Steven.
05:03Holy.
05:04Boy, oh boy.
05:05Glen Seaton's gone off, too, apparently.
05:06Now, I wonder if that's Greg Murphy that's gone off down there.
05:08Boy, oh boy.
05:09Our race leader.
05:10That's Greg Murphy.
05:11So Murphy's in trouble as well.
05:13Bowers off, we're being told.
05:15This is mayhem at Winton.
05:17Oh, what's going on here?
05:18Is someone...
05:19Now, Bargwana, can you believe this?
05:20Last year's race winner.
05:21Oh, Tanner.
05:22Tanner's off, too.
05:23Goodness me.
05:24Look at the weight on the track.
05:25Look at the weight on the track.
05:26There must have been some oil or something dropped there.
05:28Everyone's come off down at that corner.
05:30And Bargwana, last year's race and round winner, has taken the lead.
05:34I still don't know where Seaton is.
05:35We saw him off the track.
05:36I'm not quite sure where.
05:38So all hell's broken loose.
05:40I wonder if Seaton has gone off down near the pit entry road there.
05:43Look at the back of Bargwana's thing hanging on.
05:45Well, this really mixes up.
05:46It's doing our sums up here now with the podium positions.
05:49It's all changed.
05:50Now, Jason Bargwana, beautifully positioned at the front of this pack.
05:54That puts Radisic up behind him.
05:58Let's have a look at this replay.
05:59There's Seaton.
06:00He's back on the track, but he's lost a ton of positions.
06:03According to the pits, there is, in fact, oil or some slippery surface on the track,
06:08with the same of those cars spearing off.
06:11Let's have a look at this on the replay.
06:14Whoa.
06:16Well, that was coming onto pit straight.
06:18Oh, look at everybody.
06:20So, I don't want Seaton spun it there coming onto pit straight, but a bit further down.
06:25This is a replay of letting go.
06:29And Garth.
06:30Oh, look at that.
06:31That's a good job by Garth Tanner there.
06:32Boy, oh boy, that could have been much worse than that.
06:34There's got to be oil.
06:35There must be oil down on the track there.
06:37It's probably gone all the way down to turn one, because we saw Bauer and Tander off there as well.
06:42Goodness me.
06:43Chris Smurton in trouble.
06:45That's in the same place, Mark.
06:46Yeah, there must be something dropped on the track surface there.
06:49Lowndes, though, makes a move on Paul Radisic.
06:52That puts him up to second position.
06:53Radisic the third.
06:55Kelly in fourth.
06:56Forbes now moves up to fifth, and the wins Commodore.
06:58Scaife in sixth.
07:00Can you believe this charge by our championship leader?
07:03Scaife now takes advantage of that altercation.
07:05He's up in the top six.
07:07Getting the calculators out.
07:08Boy, oh boy.
07:09Trying to determine who's going to be on top of the podium at the end of the day.
07:13I tell you what, Barguana's not going to get this one up there.
07:16No way.
07:17So bad that he wants to win.
07:19Well, once again, this is a battle for the top spot on the podium.
07:21Don't forget that Lowndes and Barguana were both tied for points for third.
07:25But now that Seton and Tanner have come off, these two are battling for the overall win on the day.
07:30Barguana and Lowndes.
07:32Paul Radisic.
07:33Highest place for the forwards at the moment.
07:35But a long way down in points today.
07:37Scaife is up in sixth place.
07:40Well, I have to say it time and time again.
07:45We've seen forwards in potential race winning situations.
07:48Something always seems to go wrong.
07:50And Glenn Seton there, staring down the barrel of forwards.
07:54First victory in 2000.
07:56Just run it away.
07:57Certainly eager for that round with the FTR team.
08:02They are pumped up here.
08:03Look at this.
08:04Craig Lowndes sideways through the Esses.
08:06As he chases down.
08:07Chases Barguana.
08:08And Bargs has got the no for your eyes on.
08:11This is a no-surrender approach from the 29-year-old former Sydneysider who now bases himself out of Melbourne.
08:17It's going to be interesting to see the tyres are in the best shape.
08:22When we get sort of another five or six laps into it, it's going to be all over the show.
08:27Jason spent the week painting his house.
08:29Thought it was a nice, relaxing lead into this round at Winton.
08:33Oh!
08:34Lowndes!
08:35Oh, look at that!
08:36That was well held by Jase the Face.
08:38That was, uh...
08:39And Lowndes a big hit in the rear guard.
08:40Yeah, that was a good whack.
08:41Good whack, couldn't it?
08:42So now, Valvoline car jumps back to second.
08:44He's under attack now from Paul Radisic.
08:46Good save, though, from Barguana.
08:48So Lowndes is now standing on the top podium spot.
08:52If he can bring it home ahead of Barguana.
08:55Tremendous battle for round eight of the Shell Championship Series.
09:00Paul Radisic, the fastest of the forwards at the moment.
09:02He's in the battle for the lead.
09:04Tom Kelly and the whole Racing Team Collider behind this battle.
09:07Mark Skate.
09:09Mark Skate, yeah, up to fifth now.
09:11Rodney Forbes, a good effort also.
09:13Sixth position.
09:14Steven Johnson to seventh.
09:15Tony Longhurst, eighth.
09:17Craig Baird, ninth.
09:18And Mark Larkham in the minor ten forward.
09:21Much needed effort for him, up to tenth.
09:23There he is on the back of this freight train.
09:24Here is Mark Skate.
09:25He's got through on Tom Kelly.
09:26That puts him up to fourth position.
09:28Before you know it, this man is going to be battling, I think,
09:31for a taste of the lead.
09:33Look at the amount of real estate he's made up after that.
09:36Terrible altercation in race one.
09:38There he is.
09:39Skate.
09:40He's got the leaders within view.
09:42Incredible determination from Skate here today.
09:46Let's have a look at this replay of that incident.
09:49This is coming up into Penright turn.
09:55Oh, it's just...
09:57Yeah, that was a definite touch there.
10:01Radisic wasn't quite able to capitalise.
10:03Marguan just gathered up.
10:04Let's have a look at what happened to Bauer down at turn one.
10:06Oh, just at the inside of Tanda.
10:09Oh!
10:10Tanda...
10:11No.
10:12...shutting the door.
10:13Good whack.
10:14I don't think that was an oil problem down there, Baz.
10:16No, I don't know.
10:17You can't...
10:18Looking on the scene, you can't really see it, but you look at all the...
10:21There is a bit of a sort of a dark grey look to it.
10:24Gee.
10:26What a fender bender.
10:28Well, it was continuing during the break, during our replay, I should say.
10:31Todd Kelly's gone off, and I'll tell you who went off with him very briefly
10:34was Mark Larkham and Rodney Forbes.
10:37Safety car is on the track.
10:38We've got a safety car out now.
10:40Let's have a look at the replay.
10:42That's Todd Kelly goes off.
10:43This is a bit further back in the field.
10:44Dougal McGoogle.
10:45Steve Reid, I think.
10:47Well, they're all coming off all sorts of different directions.
10:50They've had to pull the safety car out here.
10:51There's just too many cars lying around this racetrack.
10:56It's difficult trying to think who had gone off, wasn't it?
10:59There were so many of them.
11:01Well, there's major dramas here, but this now tightens the field right up again.
11:05Dunscape, your big favourite.
11:07Yeah.
11:08Mark Scaife, he was just within view of that leading trio.
11:13Now he's right up on the bumper of Paul Radisic.
11:16Can he fight back and claim?
11:19Well, the Walker safety car has certainly done plenty of K's here today.
11:23And at the moment, they're tucked up in behind him again.
11:25Lowndes and Bargwana.
11:26Radisic, Scaife, Johnson and Longhurst.
11:29Stay with us.
11:30This one is far from over.
11:31And round eight of the championship.
11:32Nice to have you with us wherever you're watching right around Australia or through TV1 in New Zealand.
11:42If you've just joined us, Craig Lowndes has suffered a stop-go penalty for that incident with Jason Bargwana.
11:49He's just rejoined the circuit moments ago.
11:52And that has put him well down the order.
11:5325th position.
11:54In fact, Bargwana could be on course to repeat what he did here last year in terms of at least a race victory.
12:01The kid is on fire.
12:02Bargwana, a 1.24.99.
12:05Well, Bargwana, if he wins this race, he is going to win the day.
12:10Incredible consistent performance.
12:11Last year he did it by taking pole and winning three heats, but by the unbelievable turn of events here this afternoon.
12:17The battle for survival of the nuggety 28 year old will just bring top rewards once again.
12:24What an extraordinary effort by the young man from New South Wales, now lives in Victoria.
12:30Jason Bargwana carrying our in-car camera.
12:34And there's his driver profile.
12:36Started in Formula Vs.
12:38Worked his way up.
12:39And he really has done it tough, Bargwana.
12:42Ran Formula Ford and Formula Holden on a shoestring budget.
12:45Got into this team purely on merit.
12:48And hasn't he been a wonderful performer for Gary Rogers Motorsport over the years?
12:52Well, he's doing it here at the home test track.
12:54Jason Bargwana.
12:55Paul Radisic in pursuit.
12:57But he's got plenty of speed in the Valvoline Cummins machine.
13:00Yeah, it looks like Boggs has got it under control.
13:03Lap time wise, as soon as Radisic ups the pace a bit.
13:08Gargwana goes a little bit quicker.
13:10So it looks like he's got it under control.
13:13This is quite a big surprise for the Stone Brothers Racing Team.
13:16They qualified quite badly, these two.
13:18I must say, both Baird and Longhurst didn't have a good time in terms of qualifying.
13:22They have clawed their way up through the field in these cars, which are so well engineered
13:27as Baird gets up on two wheels.
13:30At the moment, Baird sits in fifth position.
13:34Tony Longhurst in the Caltex.
13:35Haviland Ford in fourth.
13:37Steven Johnson just in behind Baird in sixth position.
13:40Jason Bargwana at the moment leads the way at Winters.
13:44And on course, providing nothing goes wrong for the youngster to take out this round.
13:50And don't forget, of course, if you want to check all the results in terms of V8 Supercar racing,
13:55championship point scores, race reports and much, much more, go to the official site, V8Supercar.com.au.
14:01And as I mentioned a little earlier, there is a link there to the 10 website, 10.com.au.
14:06You can check out the RPM link there and much, much more.
14:10All our program information.
14:11Don't miss it.
14:12Get on the web and check them out.
14:14They're doing our sums on these incredible points situations.
14:17They're changing by the second, but here's the battle a bit further back in the field.
14:23Beyond these guys, there's Seton and Tanda coming, charging through the field.
14:26Look at this.
14:27Look up the inside by Russell Engel on Neil Crompton.
14:30This is the battle for seventh position, or sixth position, I should say.
14:33Steven Johnson in sixth, Crompton seventh, and Engel in eighth.
14:37Morris just behind in ninth.
14:40So tremendous battles right up and down through the field.
14:42As I was saying before, this battle between Seton and Tanda, they're skiling their way through the field.
14:47They're right back at the green of the top 20.
14:49But believe it or not, the way these points are falling at the moment, they're battling for the last position on the podium.
14:54I think Bargwana may have made a bit of a mistake last lap because Ranicic is right up in his backside.
15:01It's a great forward holding battle, the way it should be.
15:05And Winton race away this afternoon.
15:07Jason Bargwana with the Valvoline Cummins Commodore.
15:10Paul Ladisich in second.
15:11This is further back in the pack.
15:12This is the battle I was talking about.
15:14Glenn Seton and Garth Tanda both coming to green.
15:17And here's Craig Lowndes after his stop-go penalty, joining in for the fun.
15:22It's right back central to witness out there.
15:25Such a change of events in the space of one race.
15:28There he is, the defending Shell Series champion, who was certainly looking good to really get right back into the thick of things in terms of the championship points for that stop-go.
15:37It's going to have been quite a costly thing for him.
15:42Up in front of them, Anthony Tratton here.
15:45Rodney Forbes.
15:47There's Seton and Tanda.
15:49It's been a consistent run too from Paul Radisich.
15:52And the Shell boy is currently second in this race.
15:55And he's a good chance for a podium spot this afternoon as well.
15:58So that's going to add some variety to the podium.
16:01Paul Radisich, been out of luck so far this year.
16:05This could be his first podium in year 2000.
16:10Four laps remaining for our race leader.
16:12They're on board to Glenn Seton.
16:16And would he be kicking himself?
16:19I'm pretty sure there must have been something slippery on the track when he went off.
16:22There are all sorts of cars that have come to grief after him.
16:25But he's managed to gather it all up and get back into the battle.
16:28The be clear and simple telemetry takes you for a ride around Winton.
16:34Road speed on the left-hand side of the screen.
16:37Down the inside, I think he did.
16:40That's your road speed on the left-hand side of the screen.
16:42Engine revolutions on the right.
16:44Brake-out locations in the middle.
16:45And there's your gear selection as well.
16:48It's a seat very physical.
16:51As he muscles this 1,350 kilogram V8 Falcon around the tight twists and turns of Winton.
16:58Fighting back in this championship.
17:00Second in the order.
17:02Coming into this round behind Mark Skate.
17:04And looking poised for the top spot until drama struck in race three.
17:09Skate, of course, at the moment.
17:15The gap, which was around about 158 points heading into today's round,
17:19is now reduced to 126 if things stay the way that they are.
17:23So Skate is catchable in this championship by no means.
17:27It's wrapped up yet as Russell moves down the inside on Neil Crompton.
17:32Now out after the man in front of him, Steven Johnson.
17:36So Russell has now moved up to seventh position.
17:39He's been struggling all weekend.
17:41Trying to get the power down out of these slower corners.
17:44The car just not giving him the traction that he wants.
17:46And if your car is even one percent off,
17:49this level of competition is going to cost you a lot of time.
17:52So it's been a battle with the car as much as the opposition this weekend.
17:56And Engel is strongest performance so far.
17:58He's up to eight and he three.
18:00This is Barguana.
18:01The walker in car shows you the way out of the back.
18:03And the Valvoline Cummings Commodore.
18:05And as Barry mentioned, that gap has closed.
18:07Yeah, it just looks like Barks is quicker on the quick stuff.
18:11And on the slow bits over the back of the circuit,
18:14Radisic makes up a lot of ground.
18:17Gary Rogers Motorsport has just about cut their own groove around this place.
18:21It's the local test track it has been for several years.
18:24So you'd expect that the Valvoline Cummings operation will be strong here.
18:28They're certainly delivering two laps remaining for our race leader, Jason Barguana.
18:32Well on the way to repeating the result he earned here last year.
18:36Maybe not quite so spectacularly dominant,
18:39but an overall win is an overall win whichever way they come.
18:43Craig Lowndes is continuing to move through the field,
18:45has moved up to 19th position,
18:47has now gone past Garth Tander
18:49and heading out after Glenn Seaton who sits in 18th.
18:52But boy, oh boy, there's some names in this field that,
18:54as you can see on the bottom of your screen there,
18:56that have really been quite surprising.
18:57Paul Romano has moved up to 14th.
19:00A storming drive from him.
19:01They've got a new Kiwi engine builder giving them a bit of a hand.
19:04The car seems like a NASCAR here this weekend.
19:07Got a very unique sound.
19:08Black them up to 12th, which is great for the Mitre 10 driver.
19:13Rick Bates who's made his return to V8 supercar racing here.
19:16Oh!
19:17He's up to 24th.
19:18Look at this.
19:19The Rat on the attack here at Winton
19:21as we count down towards the finish of Round 8 of the Championship.
19:25If Bargwa, if Radicic can get right up behind Bargwa
19:30and into the right-hander after,
19:33at the end of the straight here in front of our commentary box
19:36and be really, really close,
19:37I reckon he's got a chance of getting Bargs
19:39on the slow section over the back there.
19:41Currently six forwards in the top ten.
19:43He's already second on the podium at the moment, Radicic.
19:46Should be a good, strong result for the Shell team that's been...
19:49by their own admission having a difficult year.
19:52There's some long faces down in that pit this weekend.
19:54They have not had a good run at all.
19:56This would be an immense confidence boost for Dean Orr, Dick Johnson
19:59and the entire team down there.
20:01Look at this.
20:02An important points boost to Paul Radicic,
20:04currently fifth in the Championship.
20:06We've got less than three kilometres remaining.
20:08The final lap of Winton Motor Raceway.
20:10Can Paul Radicic do it?
20:12That's the closest he's been in that section now.
20:15He makes a lot of ground up in the last, the next left,
20:18right here, and it's just right behind the back.
20:22Yep, we'll keep an eye on him.
20:23Now watch here.
20:25Radicic is quick through there, isn't he?
20:27Yeah, really, really.
20:28And when he comes...
20:29Fortunately for Bargwana,
20:31the officials have deemed that flapping rear body work
20:34not to be too much of a danger.
20:35It would have been a tragedy if he got black flagged,
20:37had to come into the pits to get it removed.
20:39So he's hanging on by his fingernails under maximum pressure
20:42from two times World Cup Touring Car Champion Paul Radicic.
20:46Right, it's really...
20:47Very competitive day of Winton.
20:49Yeah, it's really nowhere else now.
20:50And Leicester's...
20:52I don't think there's any chance now.
20:54Well, this is a much-needed motivational boost
20:58for Jason Bargwana.
21:00His best effort so far this year,
21:02a second place in the opening race at the GMC 400,
21:05and a third at the Clipsal 500 in race two.
21:08But Bargwana at the moment, this is the last corner,
21:11Radicic's the last roll of the dice.
21:13Bargwana heading for the start-finish line.
21:16And Bargwana, a marvellous performance.
21:20He survives the battle at Winton.
21:22Bargwana takes victory.
21:24And the round.
21:26Radicic's second.
21:28Markskay third.
21:32Shades of season 99 with Bargwana,
21:35who's such an emotional character.
21:37Look at him.
21:38Well done.
21:42Winton is home turf for Jason Bargwana.
21:44He has stamped his name on this place
21:46in V8 supercar terms, no doubt about it.
21:51That's good, because he's had a really rough time this year
21:53and it's nice when people, you know,
21:56he's trying really hard
21:57and it's all come together for him.
21:59That's good.
22:05The good thing about Jason,
22:06even though he's had a bad year,
22:08you know, he's always stayed happy
22:09and that's kind of nice.
22:10Let's recap them for you.
22:12Bargwana wins the race and the round.
22:15Radicic home second.
22:16Markskay.
22:17That is a sensational performance.
22:19Recovering after a dismal day for third in the final race.
22:22Longhurst, Baird, Johnson, Ingle and Neil Crompton
22:25complete the top eight in this astounding third race of the day.
22:28McLean Morris, Paul Wheel, Mark Larkham getting up to 12th.
22:32That is a great effort as well.
22:33We'll wrap it up for you right after this.
22:35Bargwana brained him in 99 and once again he was brilliant in 2000.
22:44Happy is Jason Bargwana.
22:46He takes out the third race of the day.
22:48Delight for the Valvoline Cummins race team.
22:50And there were some other standout performers as well.
22:53A good result for the Dick Johnson racing team.
22:55Paul Radicic getting up there into second position
22:57and Steven Johnson for sixth.
22:59And what about further down through the field?
23:01Paul Morris, 10th.
23:02Paul Wheel, the young Queenslander did exceptionally well with 11th.
23:06And it's been a great day's racing here indeed at Winton.
23:09Let's go to the podium.
23:10Mark Osler.
23:11Well, Mark's game's incredible run of wins and podium finishes
23:15came to an end at Winton Motor Raceway.
23:17But a great fight back by our championship leader.
23:19What it has done may be disappointed the Holden Racing Team fans,
23:22but it really has tightened up the championship.
23:24In third place today, it's been quite a varied podium, you've got to admit.
23:28He looked like he was heading for the top spot,
23:30but a bit of oil on that corner in the last race cost him dearly.
23:32Put your hands together for Glenn Seaton.
23:34Wow.
23:39Good to see you back up here, mate.
23:41It's been a bit of a struggle the last couple of years, hasn't it?
23:44But, geez, that oil.
23:45What a costly mistake.
23:47It was really.
23:48It brought, I think it was three of us undone actually.
23:51And it is disappointing because I thought this was our day
23:54and I was looking forward to taking that $10,000 off Jeff Pilates,
23:57the president of Ford.
23:58But today's not the day and hopefully Oran Park will be.
24:01Oran Park in the past has been great for us,
24:03but thanks to the boys because they did a sensational job.
24:07The car was on the pace this weekend and it really set the pace.
24:10But one of those things, it's what you call it,
24:13is motor racing and those things happen.
24:15That's the way it goes.
24:16Put your hands together, folks, anyway.
24:17Great effort.
24:18The Ford Tickford driver.
24:20And for the first time since Barbagallo last year,
24:23we've got two Fords on the podium.
24:25It's quite an extraordinary afternoon.
24:26Put your hands together.
24:27Second time in the Shell Championship Series.
24:29He's on the podium.
24:30Paul Radisic.
24:34Congratulations.
24:35Good to see you back up here.
24:36He said the car wasn't right through our qualifying,
24:38but it just shows if you hang in there, you can get a result.
24:40Yeah, it sure is.
24:41And you've got to keep at it.
24:42And big thanks to the guys, DJ our team.
24:45We worked hard to improve the car and we surely did.
24:48And, you know, I know Glenn's chasing a 10 grand, but so am I.
24:51And we're going to make it hard for him.
24:53So, you know, watch out for the next rounds.
24:55I feel we're making great progress.
24:57And, you know, I think this is going to say about Barbagallo,
25:00because, man, this must be his lucky track or what,
25:03but he drove extremely well.
25:05Put your hands together, folks.
25:06The Rat is back.
25:07And there should be some more action from the Flying Kiwi at Oran Park.
25:11OK, now it's my pleasure to call on Ross Brodie,
25:13the motorsport manager for Shell, the sponsor of this wonderful series.
25:16Second time in two years, our winner, Jason Barguana.
25:27Soak it up, son.
25:28It's a good feeling, isn't it?
25:29See, that's a hard way to do it.
25:30Last year, you were totally dominant.
25:31This year, you came through from the back,
25:33but you've got my microphone called.
25:38Clumsy stuff, isn't it?
25:39He had to come through from the back.
25:41Great result.
25:42Yeah, from the back?
25:43It wasn't that far back.
25:44Gee, just give me a break.
25:45Not from pole position like last year, though.
25:47No, Mark, look, that was fantastic.
25:49I mean, a great credit to the team, to Gary and all the boys.
25:51Greg's been working overtime on the car,
25:53and, look, without the whole Valvoline Cummings team,
25:55we wouldn't have been there.
25:56But, yeah, qualified ninth,
25:57and who'd have thought we'd be standing here with a trophy?
25:59All right!
26:00Now, can you continue this form at Iron Park?
26:03That's been a very happy hunting ground for the Holton Racing team.
26:05I think everyone's expecting them to be right back on the pace there.
26:08Yeah, well, you asked me this question last year,
26:10and I think I qualified 17th or something,
26:12so I'm not even going to answer that question,
26:13but thank God I was driving to Holden today,
26:15and especially the Valvoline Cummings one.
26:16I mean, you know, we're up on the podium again,
26:19and go the Holdens.
26:20Go the Holdens.
26:21Put your hands together, folks.
26:22Jason Barguana, the winner of round eight
26:24of the Shell Championship Series.
26:26Eight rounds down,
26:27and here is the revised championship score.
26:29Scaife still on top, but the gap has narrowed.
26:31120 points now to Seton.
26:33Garth Tan is sitting in third there.
26:35A couple of other movers for you.
26:36Greg Murphy now up into sixth position,
26:38and Russell Ingle has moved from sixth to seventh.
26:41So it's going to be a great day at Oren Park,
26:43I can tell you that one,
26:44but it's been an awesome day, Barry Sheen, here at Winton.
26:46Oh, fantastic day's racing.
26:48You know, the last race, you have to feel sorry for Seton.
26:50I thought finally Ford was going to win and that.
26:53And the same goes for Tanda as well, you know,
26:55but it was so nice to see Barguana win.
26:57You know, he's had a rough old year.
26:58But the great thing about Barguana is he's always been happy,
27:01you know, and that's nice.
27:03Well, lots more motorsport coming your way right here on Network 10,
27:06and it all starts, of course, tomorrow night.
27:08With round 10 from Toronto, the Kart World Series.

27:12Neil Crompton for all the action there.

27:25and much, much more.
27:26The Shell Championship Series moves from here to Oren Park Raceway,
27:29round nine at the end of the month, the mad month of July.
27:32On behalf of all of our team here, Barry Sheen, Mark Osler,
27:34and our guest commentator today, Larry Perkins,
27:36that's bye for now.
27:37To have the safety car out.
27:39Oh, he's not a happy champion.
27:41Oh, he wants to rip into John Bridge, too.
27:44Oh, no, he's come off!
27:46Oh!
27:47This car's going.
27:48There must be something on the road.
27:53Oh!
27:55Oh, no!
27:56Look, it's Larry.
28:02Oh!
28:03Oh!

28:05Oh, no!
28:06Oh, no!
28:07Oh!
28:08Oh, big crash in!
28:09You have to try and fix some of that debris.
28:11Oh!
28:12Oh, no!
28:13Sideways is Larry!
28:19Oh, this is Brad Jones!
28:21That's a big rollercoaster!
28:22That's a big rollercoaster!
28:23Oh, no!
28:24Oh, no!
28:25Oh, my goodness!
28:26Thanks!
28:27The tire's got problems with the fuel as well.
28:29Oh!
28:30There's been a flame!
28:31There's a flame here!
28:32Oh!
28:33Oh!
28:34Oh!
