00:00In Ecuador, jurists demanded the re-establishment of the Constitutional Order and asked international
00:19organizations to take measures to guarantee the integrity of the electoral process.
00:27The Dominican Republic Attorney General's Office has launched an investigation into the
00:31tragedy at the Jet Set nightclub that left over 220 people dead and hundreds injured.
00:39The Myanmar floods have worsened the state of emergency in the areas affected by the earthquake
00:43that occurred on March 28th.
00:50Hello, welcome to From the South.
00:51I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Del Sur Studios in Caracas, Venezuela.
00:55We'll begin with the news.
00:57Stay with us.
01:02In Ecuador, jurists demanded the re-establishment of the Constitutional Order and asked international
01:23organizations to take measures to guarantee the integrity of the electoral process.
01:27After allegations of widespread fraud by incumbent President Daniel Novoa, the group expressed
01:32its deep concern over the multiple irregularities that have overshadowed the electoral process
01:37of last April 13th, 2025.
01:39In this regard, experts urge the international community, jurist organizations in the region,
01:44and Ecuadorian civil society to speak out, condemn, and monitor the situation in Ecuador.
01:54The Dominican Republic Attorney General's Office launched an investigation into the tragedy
01:59at the Jet Set nightclub.
02:01The Directorate of Prosecution and the Public Prosecutor's Office of the capital, Santo Domingo,
02:06were instructed to carry out investigations to clarify whether there are responsibilities
02:11or failures that could have played a role in the collapse of the roof of the premises.
02:16In addition, the government announced the formation of a commission of national and international experts
02:20to determine the exact causes of the accident.
02:23Over 231 people died in the fatal incident, including Marenga singer Ruby Perez, who was performing
02:29at the time of the incident.
02:31In this context, relatives of the victims filed a lawsuit against the owners of the nightclub
02:40where the accident took place and the local authorities for the failure to comply with their supervisory duties.
02:46The complaint came from the parents, one of the deceased, who demands a criminal conviction
02:51for involuntary manslaughter against the owners of the Jet Set venue, as well as compensation
02:56for the loss of their son under these circumstances.
02:59The amount of compensation has not been fixed, but the relatives are demanding justice for their relatives
03:04in what they consider an act of neglect.
03:13In the United States, a shooting has been reported on Tuesday at Wilmer Hutchins High School
03:18in the city of Dallas, Texas.
03:20According to local media, police, firefighters and paramedics have responded to the emergency
03:25and were on the scene.
03:26Preliminary reports indicate that at least four people were injured, including a 17-year-old
03:30boy who was shot in the leg.
03:32None of them have life-threatened injuries.
03:35Meanwhile, it is presumed that the suspect in the incident fled through a back exit of
03:39the school after the shooting, which is believed to have occurred inside the library.
03:43In the United States, a federal judge overturned a decision by President Donald Trump to eliminate
03:56humanitarian parole for migrants from Venezuela, Cuba, Haiti and Nicaragua.
04:01According to the court, the U.S. government failed to act within the regulatory limits set forth in the
04:07Administrative Procedure Act after seeking to drastically eliminate the program for migrants.
04:12This court decision is the latest legal setback against the Trump administration in its efforts to enforce
04:18its massive deportation policies.
04:25And a U.S. court will hold a hearing on Tuesday on the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Salvadoran deported by
04:32administrative error to a maximum security prison in El Salvador.
04:36The Salvadoran citizen continues to be deprived of his liberty in his country of origin, even though
04:41he had a court order protecting him from deportation since 2019.
04:46Since his arrest on March 12, 2025, the family of the kidnapped migrant has been demanding his
04:51release and safe return to the U.S.
04:54For its part, the government of El Salvador underlined that there were no reasons to return Kilmar Abrego
04:59Garcia after qualifying him as a terrorist.
05:06And on Tuesday, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum addressed the new 291 percent tariff on tomatoes
05:12announced by the United States.
05:14The head of state stressed the government was not notified of this measure and denied the alleged
05:19dumping of the produce claimed by the Trump administration.
05:23Regarding tomatoes, it is important to know this.
05:28The Mexican government was not notified, neither through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, nor through
05:35the Ministry of Economy, nor through the Ministry of Agriculture.
05:40Lawyers for the tomato growers in the United States were notified.
05:45That is wrong.
05:47In any case, they should have notified the Mexican government as well.
05:53So, it is 90 days, as the secretary rightly says, tomatoes mainly from Sinaloa, although
06:00also from other states, are exported to the United States and it is an export that has been
06:06going on for a long time.
06:08Some US producers complain that the price of Mexican tomatoes is lower, when it is simply the production
06:17price.
06:18There is nothing that the state is subsidizing at the price at which it is being sold, something
06:24that does happens the other way around.
06:27Therefore, there is no dumping of tomatoes or of Mexican tomato producers in order to export
06:33tomatoes.

07:58Official figures pointed out that another 170 people were injured in the floods, and that
08:03heavy rains have displaced more than 5,000 citizens from their homes.

08:12to health risks and further flooding.
08:14Authorities continue rescue efforts and full assessment of the crisis in the country, prioritizing
08:19the most urgent needs of the affected civilians.
08:22And in Myanmar, floods have worsened the state of emergency in the affected areas by the earthquake
08:32that occurred on March 28th.
08:34The heavy rains lashed in the city of Mandalay have caused flash floods, collapsed buildings,
08:39and serious damage to temporary shelters.
08:41This situation has exacerbated the critical humanitarian situation faced by the country,
08:46which is still suffering from the effects of the strong 7.7-magnitude earthquake that occurred
08:51just weeks ago, where a total of 3,645 people lost their lives, and another 5,000 were injured.

09:16of the Southeast Asian countries Communist Party, To Lam, to witness the signing of 45 cooperation
09:23agreements between the two nations.
09:25Xi Jinping warned that Trump's tariff war would generate a progressive deterioration
09:29in global trade.
09:30Precisely, the Chinese leader warned of the imbalance in the global economic order
09:34and stressed the importance of boosting confidence in the links between Asian nations.
09:39In addition, Xi stressed that the trade war unleashed by the United States
09:43is against the interests of all countries and urged to oppose unilateralism.
09:48After his visit to Vietnam, the Chinese president Xi Jinping arrived in Malaysia in a trip expected
09:58to produce deals and increase bilateral cooperation.
10:01Accompanied by cabinet ministers and senior government officials, President Xi will undertake
10:06a three-day state visit at the invitation of the King of Malaysia, Sultan Ibrahim.
10:11Xi is also scheduled to hold a meeting with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to discuss bilateral cooperation.
10:16In this regard, the Chinese leader expressed hope that the visit would mark the beginning
10:21of a new era in cooperation as the nations celebrate the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.
10:27The trip comes amid China's raging trade war with the U.S.
10:31after President Trump's set-off tariffs on Chinese imports.
10:35Russia denounces Ukraine has not complied with the truths agreed with the United States regarding
10:53attacks on energy facilities.
10:55The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Ukrainian troops are attacking its energy infrastructure
11:00efforts on a daily basis, which shows that the agreement is being violated.
11:04The Russian official ratified that Moscow maintains the ceasefire against energy targets,
11:08which was established for a period of 30 days.
11:11The Kremlin warns that since the entry into force of the troops between Russia and Ukraine,
11:16the Kiev regime has ignored its ceasefire obligations and continues its challenge.

12:08Welcome back.
12:09The Palestine statistics indicate that 500 minors have been killed since the violation of the ceasefire
12:14by the Israeli Sionist regime.
12:16The genocide in Gaza, perpetrated by the Israeli regime since October 2023, has left at least 51,000 Palestinians
12:23killed and more than 116,000 wounded.
12:27Moreover, the percentage of children who have been killed is close to 40%.
12:31Following the violation of the ceasefire, there has also been an increase in the number of females
12:35killed, both women and girls, from 50 to 60%.
12:39For its part, the Israeli regime has launched attacks on different structures, including schools and hospitals,
12:44in flagrant violation of all international agreements and the Geneva Conventions.
12:50The United Nations denounces the increasing number of civilians killed by Israeli attacks in Lebanon.
13:00According to a preliminary analysis, at least 71 civilians, including 14 women and 9 minors,
13:05have been killed by Israeli forces in Lebanon since the ceasefire came into effect on November 27th,
13:11while more than 92,000 people remained displaced, and the population is still living in fear.
13:16It also noted that since the ceasefire, Israeli attacks have hit civilian infrastructure in the territory,
13:22including residential buildings, medical centers, and roads.
13:26It should be noted that despite the agreements reached, the Israeli regime continues to attack targets in Lebanon daily.
13:32Meanwhile, in the Netherlands, police forces arrested about 15 pro-Palestinian demonstrators
13:44protesting at the administration building of Amsterdam University.
13:48Protesters demanded that the university end its cooperation with Israeli universities during the rally.
13:53Amsterdam police officers disrupted the rally, beating the students with clubs
13:58and arresting between 10 to 15 people.
14:02With this demonstration, citizens of Amsterdam show their solidity with the struggle of the Palestinian people,
14:07who have been resisting for more than 18 months to a genocidal escalation perpetrated by the Israeli regime.
14:19The Maldives government bans the entry of Israelis in solidarity with the Palestinian people
14:23in the face of the genocidal war perpetrated by the Israeli regime in the Gaza Strip.
14:28Shortly after parliament approved the legislation on Tuesday,
14:31President Mohamed Mouissou ratified the ban on the entry of Israeli citizens
14:36until the genocidal aggressions against the Palestinian people ceased,
14:39a move that was also supported by the country's political opposition.
14:43In a statement, the Maldivian presidency reaffirmed the country's strong commitment to the promotion and protection
14:49of the rights of the Palestinian people while reiterating its support for the creation of a Palestinian state
14:55based on the pre-1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.
15:08In Iraq, health authorities reported about 3,000 people with respiratory issues
15:12following a sandstorm that hit several provinces of the country last weekend.
15:16Officials warned that these figures could rise as Iraqi cities continue to be covered with a dense layer of dust,
15:23which affects mostly the southern governorites.
15:25They detailed that most of the cases with respiratory problems are found in the governorite of Basra,
15:30with 749 people affected.
15:32The meteorological center recommended the population not to drive vehicles due to the low visibility on the roads.
15:38And as Sudan marked two years of civil war on Tuesday, atrocities and famine are mounting in what the U.N. says
15:50is the world's worst humanitarian crisis.
15:53The U.N. Agency for Children, UNICEF, said the number of children in need of humanitarian aid has doubled
15:58from 7.8 million at the start of 2023 to over 15 million today.
16:03UNICEF also called for urgent action as the dire situation could tip into greater catastrophe.
16:09Half of the 50 million population faces hunger and the World Food Program has confirmed famine in 10 locations.
16:16The war erupted on April 15, 2023, which pitched battles between the military and the RSF in the streets of Khartoum
16:24that quickly spread to other parts of the country.
16:27Nearly 13 million people have fled their homes and 4 million have streamed into neighboring countries.
16:32Besides, at least 20,000 people have been recorded killed, but the true toll is probably far higher.
16:38And in Sudan, also extremists of the rapid support forces announced the seizure of the Sam Sam camp in northern Darfur,
16:50two years following the outburst of the civil war.
16:53Sources close to the Sudan Liberation Movement denounced that such seizure of the Sam Sam refugee camp by the RSF
17:00brought about 450 deaths and many injured.
17:04Likewise, over 70,000 Sudanese civilians were forced to leave their homes to run away from the RSF attacks.
17:10In this context, the UN estimated that the Sam Sam camp used to be home to over 500,000 displaced people
17:17because it had been labeled as one of the largest safe zones in Sudan.
17:34The Vatican advanced Monday that the Catalan architect, Antoni Gaudi, creator of Barcelona's Sagrada Familia Basilica,
17:42gathered all virtues to go through the sainthood process.
17:45On his first official statement, Pope Francis made such declaration as one of the initial steps to turn Gaudi,
17:51also known as God's architect, into a saint.
17:54Then the Vatican would have to beatify him before canonization, which is the last step.
17:59Gaudi's devotees had requested the Holy See to become him a saint for over 30 years.
18:06They grounded in the fact that the Sagrada Familia Great Stoneworks and Spires persuaded people to confer to Catholicism.
18:13Moreover, the Gaudi beatification society, made up of 80,000 people worldwide, have been praying to Gaudi,
18:20imploring him to perform miracles.
18:27And in Cuba, the International Poor Film Festival of Hibara kicked off Tuesday in eastern Olguin province.

18:39Attending the festival will be theatre groups Palabras al Viento and Codanza,
18:44as well as recognized local actors such as Tajimi, Albariño, Osvaldo, Doymeadios and Jacqueline Arenal.
18:52In addition, over 500 works have been submitted to this comprehensive festival to be decided upon by international juries.
18:58In this year's edition, Cuba competes with 25 films, Argentina with 11, Spain brings 9, Mexico and Peru 6 each,
19:06while Colombia, the United States, Chile and Uruguay have 5 each.
