01:01Venezuela.
01:02We begin with the news, stay with us.

02:12Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov assured Thursday that the threat of the U.S.
02:18President Donald Trump to impose new sanctions did not catch his government by surprise.
02:24The diplomat described Trump's first presidential term back in 2016 as the one resulting the
02:31most to sanctions.
02:33Peskov ensured that Russian authorities have kept posted about the statements to mull over
02:39all the nuances.
02:41In addition, the spokesperson reaffirmed that Moscow takes the path of dialogue based on
02:46respect and equity, so it awaits signals to reactivate contacts with Washington.
02:52Lately, the White House menaced Kremlin for further sanctions in the Russian Federation
02:58does not reach a peace agreement with Ukraine.
03:01U.S. President Donald Trump announced a full and unconditional pardon for two Washington
03:09police officers convicted in the death of Karen Hilton Brown, a 20-year-old man of African
03:15descent.
03:16In 2020, agents Andrew Zabatsky and Terence Sutton exerted an unauthorized police pursuit
03:24of Hilton Brown.
03:25The latter, fearing for his life, tried not to confront the officers but they chased him,
03:31causing him to crash into another car, bleeding to death.
03:35The agents allowed the driver leave the scene and cover up the crime.
03:39Therefore, Sutton was charged of second-degree murder and Zabatsky of conspiracy to obstruct
03:45an obstruction of justice.
03:47Currently, the president pardoned the two agents, claiming they were after a criminal.
03:52Florida said Tuesday evening a new record-breaking snowstorm across the Panhandle.
04:11Experts said Floridians are coping with the Gulf blizzard of 2025.
04:17In addition, the National Weather Service reported that the record snowfall of four
04:21inches in 1954 was topped out by large.
04:25Indeed, the entity office in Pensacola unfolded that areas such as Milton and Jay Cities of
04:31Santa Rosa County got 10 inches of snow, while northwestern Molino in Escambia County reached
04:389.5 inches.
04:40Specialists said that the main concerning issue is freezing temperatures will linger
04:45until this weekend, so snowplow crews have to work harder on removing all the snow covering
04:51up roads, sidewalks and intersections in Florida.
04:59More than 31,000 people have been forced to flee their homes in Los Angeles, western
05:03United States, as a new fire rages in North Castaic.
05:08The fire, known as the Huge Fires, was declared on Wednesday morning and has already burned
05:13more than 2,000 hectares.
05:15Emergency and weather services warned last week that winds in southern California were
05:20helping to fuel the flames.
05:22Ventura and Los Angeles counties are under a red flag warning until Friday, and the Department
05:27of Education announced that more than 2,000 students had been evacuated from Castaic schools.
05:38The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, assured on Thursday that his government would

06:28We'll be right back, stay with us!
06:46Welcome back to From the South.
06:53And the people of Venezuela mobilized in defense of their sovereignty and to commemorate the
06:57civic-military rebellion of January 23rd, 1958 that overthrew the dictator General Marcos
07:04Pérez Jiménez.
07:05The demonstration in Caracas also takes place in the midst of the ongoing Bolivarian-should
07:112025 military drill that seeks to warranty the country's territorial defense with the
07:16participation of the organized popular power.
07:19In this regard, the first Vice President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Diosdal
07:24Cabello, highlighted the determination of the Venezuelan people to defend the sovereignty
07:30and independence against any threat against the peace and stability of the nation.
07:39Yesterday in Venezuela, World Estate announced the reactivation of the 13 productive engines
07:44of the country with the objective of advancing in the Seven Transformations Plan.
07:48One of these engines is the socialist and solidarity-based communal economy.
07:53With the details, our correspondent Daisy Dusant.
07:58The Communal Panal is a historical organization of the 23 de in narrow neighborhood in the
08:03Venezuelan capital, pioneers in popular participation projects.
08:10We would have to see how it was planned at the beginning, that each commune would have
08:14socio-productive organizations according to their knowledge in sewing, fishing, agriculture,
08:19at least in Caracas.
08:21I will give you an example from Caracas.
08:23We are serving 466 communes in Caracas.
08:26Those communes in turn have socio-productive organizations of textile confection.
08:30We are talking about more than 1,600 producers, who at the same time produce more than 467,000
08:39products in school uniforms, jackets, and school clothes.
08:43This economy strengthens the communal economy, which develops what would be the communal
08:46bank, and at the same time, it advances towards the communal state.
08:53The socialist textile factory, Las Abajidas del Panal, has been operating here for 13
09:00years.
09:01It is an organization that follows the guidelines of the commune and provides work and knowledge
09:06to the population.
09:09My grandmother is a seamstress, and she used to teach me a little bit, but I learned here,
09:13and now I myself taught her, look, grandma, this is how it is.
09:16The good thing here is that we leave at 12 o'clock.
09:19We go to lunch until 2.30 p.m.
09:21I have my children studying here.
09:22I go to pick them up.
09:23I have them here for a while.
09:24I go home for a while, and then I come back here and leave at 5.30 p.m.
09:33We started with six machines.
09:35I was not going to work here.
09:37I came to bring my daughter, and I liked working so much, and I liked the workshop so much
09:41that since I already knew how to sew, I stayed working until now.
09:45I have been here for 13 years.
09:52This is a project of popular power proposed by Commander Hugo Chavez to overcome the classic
09:57model of the state.
10:02Before the presence of Commander Chavez, the productive forces, be it bakery, sewing, breeding,
10:07fishing, were in the hands of private companies.
10:10And when they went into the hands of private companies, it was the private company that
10:17enjoyed the benefits.
10:23At this moment, we are seeing that this economic resource is in the hands of the producers,
10:26which is the people.
10:34During the meeting with the Economic Council, the president of Venezuela announced that
10:38they will remain in permanent session to reorder, re-drive, and promote the country's new economic
10:44and productive agenda.
10:47Venezuela is not a colony of the World Bank, nor of the International Monetary Fund, nor
10:57of anyone.
11:01Else Venezuela is building its own model of economic, political, and social independence
11:06of equality.
11:12During 2024, manufacturing increased by 4.6%.
11:16The Venezuelan head of state summarized the transformation of the economic model, explaining
11:21that the Bolivarian economic agenda was simplified to 13 engines and the defense of national
11:26savings was launched.
11:34Nicaragua's National Assembly on Wednesday unanimously approved the reform of the Constitution's
11:39Chapter on the Economy and Public Finances in order to boost the country's productive
11:43and commercial activity.
11:46In this context, the parliamentary work is part of the process of partial reform of the
11:51Constitution.
11:52With this resolution, for example, the creative economy is elevated to state policy as a pillar
11:58of sustainable development in Nicaragua.
12:01The approved bill also reaffirms, among other things, the inalienable rights of families
12:06to access medicines, school supplies, drinking water, public transport, and other essential
12:11services.
12:16The governor of the southern Mexican state of Guerrero, Evelin Salgado Pineda, said on
12:20Wednesday that she was working on a comprehensive program designed by the state's main authorities
12:26to receive migrants deported from the United States.
12:30She also explained that she had met with various authorities to develop a policy of support
12:35for the citizens of this state who live in other countries, reassuring them that they
12:40are not alone and that, when they return to their homeland, they will be welcomed
12:46as they deserve and will be embraced in all aspects.
12:50She also pointed out that he has been in contact with immigration authorities and migrant organizations
12:56in cities such as Chicago and Los Angeles to channel the arrival of their nationals.
13:04We have a second short break coming up, but before going back, it's a visit to our YouTube

13:38Welcome back to From the South.
13:51Palestinian rescue teams have recovered at least 170 bodies in the southern Gaza Strip
13:56since the start of the ceasefire.
13:58On Thursday, rescue teams recovered at least nine bodies of Palestinians killed in the
14:03town of Bani Shuhaila, east of Cairn Genesee.
14:07According to the Palestinian authorities, more than 14,000 people may be buried under
14:12structures destroyed by the conflict in the region.
14:15It is estimated that 70% of the victims are women and minors.
14:20Winter, weather and high food prices are worsening living conditions in the Gaza Strip despite
14:29an increase in humanitarian aid since the ceasefire took effect.
14:34Rain and cold inundated the Palestinian territories on Thursday, leaving tents floating in muddy
14:39puddles.
14:40Despite the Israeli ceasefire in Gaza, the living conditions of at least 2 million displaced
14:45people are still extreme due to the lack of food and other essential supplies.
14:50This combined with the impact on families who are living in the open due to the destruction
14:55of their homes by the Israeli aggression.
15:02After the signing of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, Palestinians are returning
15:06to their former homes in the Gaza Strip.
15:09On arrival, they find towns in ruins, most of them with all their buildings destroyed.
15:14Let's go to our colleague Huda Hegacity from Hamad City in southern Gaza.
15:19I have been moved to the Hamad City, which is located in Khan Younis Governorate in southern
15:27Gaza.
15:29This area that was a residential area of buildings and as we can see it has been fully destroyed
15:34by the Israeli occupation forces.
15:38The area had been invaded two consecutive times by the Israeli occupation troops.
15:43On their first incursion, the army hit a big-time figure of buildings, pushing up a great Palestinian
15:50death toll.
15:51But on their second offensive, they destroyed each building in the area, referring that
15:58literally there is no building left as those remaining are inhospitable due to the fact
16:03that all inside them has been destroyed and burned down.
16:09So we could say that this area made up of over 50 buildings has been fully destroyed.
16:16However, after the humanitarian troops, Gazans who used to live here have come back home
16:24but they were shocked when they saw there's no home left.
16:29Therefore, they had no choice but to pitch their tents here once again where their houses
16:38were so they have pitched their tents on top of the rubble as we can see over there.
16:44Destruction is huge.
16:45We are talking about high-rise buildings, 10 or 12-floor buildings which have fallen
16:51straight down so they are literally piled up in ruins and more ruins.
17:01Now let's talk with this madam who previously lived in these buildings and now she has no
17:07home but she had to pitch a tent on top of the ruins of her house.
17:16When the war ended, you went back home and you saw you had no house so you had to pitch
17:20a tent and live on top of rubble, how did you feel?
17:25Yes, it's true.
17:28We had to live in tents because when we came back we found that we had nothing.
17:34We settled here hoping that someone would help us with something, be it food, clothes
17:39or whatever because we have lost everything.
17:42I wish this all be over and everyone could have a home to shelter in.
17:49As this madam has just assured us, she as well as the other families have no choice
17:55but to pitch their tents in this place because there's no site to go to.
17:59They rant that they feel that rage of not knowing what to do, they are fed up of living
18:05in tents because it's not a decent life.
18:08The only thing Gazans wish for right now is to be able to rebuild their houses and live
18:14the lives they used to have before, or at least some part.
18:22The Organization for Islamic Cooperation on Thursday condemned the violent Zionist attacks
18:27in the occupied West Bank, especially in the Yenin refugee camp, where 12 Palestinians
18:31were killed.
18:33In addition to the dead, there are dozens of injured.
18:35The occupying forces have also set up checkpoints and iron gates to cut off towns and villages
18:41in the area.
18:42They also gave an account of the gravity of the crimes committed daily by the settlers,
18:47now pardoned by President Donald Trump, against thousands of Palestinians backed by the genocidal
18:53troops.
18:59In Sudan, more than a million people have fled to South Sudan because of the conflict
19:03and humanitarian crisis.
19:05Tens of thousands of people have been killed and more than 12 million forced to flee since
19:10the war broke out between the army and the rapid support forces in April 2023.
19:16The United Nations reported that more than 770,000 people have fled through the Ghouta
19:22border, crossing in 21 months, while tens of thousands have crossed into South Sudan
19:28through other locations, bringing the total to more than one million.
19:32The organization called for more support for both displaced people and the communities
19:37hosting them, noting the significant pressure on resources in South Sudan.
19:46New cases of cholera have been reported in Angola's Uambo province, bringing the number
19:52of people infected to 671.
19:55According to the Angolan Ministry of Health, the provinces of Ikolo, Bengo, Bengo and Melange
20:01and Luanda have also recorded cases.
20:04The capital, Luanda, has the highest number of confirmed cholera cases, with 484, around
20:1070% of those affected.
20:12The health authorities say they have been taking steps since January 18th to procure
20:18vaccines for the population, giving priority to children.
20:24And like this, we have come to the end of this news brief, but remember you can find
