00:00In Ecuador, jurists demanded the re-establishment of the Constitutional Order and asked international
00:17organizations to take measures to guarantee the integrity of the electoral process.
00:25The Dominican Republic Attorney General's Office has launched an investigation into
00:29the tragedy at the Jet Set nightclub that left over 220 people dead and hundreds injured.
00:38And after his visit to Vietnam, the Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Malaysia
00:42on a trip expected to produce deals and increase bilateral cooperation.
00:50Hello and welcome to From the South.
00:51I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the Dersus Studios in Caracas, Venezuela.
00:55We'll begin with the news, stay with us.
00:57In Ecuador, jurists demanded the re-establishment of constitutional order and asked international
01:18organizations to take measures to guarantee the integrity of the electoral process.
01:23After allegations of widespread fraud by incumbent President Daniel Noboa, the group expressed
01:27its deep concern of the multiple irregularities that have overshadowed the electoral process
01:32of last April 13, 2025.
01:35In this regard, experts urged the international community, jurists, organizations in the region
01:39and Ecuadorian civil society to speak out, condemn and monitor the situation in Ecuador.
01:51And the 2025 general elections were held in Ecuador on Sunday, April 13.
01:56The results published by the National Electoral Council gave Daniel Noboa as the winner.
02:00However, this process is under scrutiny because, according to specialists, there was a fraud of
02:04origin.
02:05Our correspondent Gabriela Mena has the details.
02:08In Ecuador, election day ended with the announcement of the National Electoral Council, CNE, giving
02:14Daniel Noboa as the winner.
02:16However, this result generates surprise among diverse sectors.
02:20For experts, the scenario that Ecuador is going through can be catalogued as a fraud of origin.
02:26This because Daniel Noboa remained as president and candidate, managing to maneuver from the
02:31executive in his favor.
02:32It is not only the political pressure on the one hand, but also the lack of autonomy and
02:40of guaranteeing the transparency of these processes by the CNE.
02:44That is, unfortunately in Ecuador the law is there, but it ends up being dead slow because
02:49it happens that they remain at the service of the government in power.
02:53The law is not complied with.
02:56But there is more.
02:57Noboa not only used state funds, which exceed $570 million, but he also used constitutional
03:04resources to decree a state of exception in Quito and seven provinces where the candidate
03:08for the citizen revolution, Luisa Gonzalez, had the highest percentage of acceptance.
03:15In addition, he did not request a license from the National Assembly to begin his campaign
03:20period and only notified the CNE, ignoring the Ecuadorian constitution.
03:30We must take into account that there has been a discrediting of the left and of progressivism
03:36and humanism, giving the impression that if a person, a candidate, a politician or a public
03:43official is progressive or humanist or has this tendency, he or she is a leftist and is
03:49practically associated with crime.
03:52That is what these people have been saying.
03:55All this has made the different electoral observers question the lack of action on the
03:58part of the National Electoral Council and the transparency of this democratic day, for
04:05which they even sent an official letter to the CNE notifying them of these localized irregularities.
04:10In addition, they question why Daniel Noboa closed his electoral campaign with international
04:16artists when the code of democracy does not allow it.
04:21Noboa, as I have said on several occasions, is a threat to democracy.
04:33He is a threat to the rule of law.
04:37What is going to happen now that he has all the power and has been re-elected for four
04:42more years?
04:46It is very likely that there is a high risk that he will commit more abuses and that it
04:51will be an arbitrary government.
04:54From the citizen revolution, the candidate, Luisa Gonzalez, stated that she does not acknowledge
04:59the results presented by the CNE and affirmed that fraud was committed in the registration
05:04of votes to benefit him against the will of the people, a point with which the citizens
05:09agree.
05:14We must open the ballot boxes because the fraud was seen, the fraud is seen.
05:18It is seen because in the territory we were talking to the people.
05:22In the territory it was seen that they were all with Luisa.
05:25Now, the citizen revolution and allied forces, as well as multiple sectors of the citizenry,
05:31demand the reopening of the polls and transparency of the results, as well as the investigation
05:37of the last minute arbitrary changes in electoral precincts, the military intimidation and obstruction
05:44of electoral observers and, above all, the manipulation of official records.
05:50Gabriela Mena, Telesur Ecuador.
05:55At the Dominican Republic Attorney General's Office, as launched an investigation into the
05:59tragedy at the Jet Set Nightclub, the Directorate of Prosecution and the Public Prosecutor's Office
06:05of the Capitol, Santo Domingo, were instructed to carry out investigations to clarify whether there
06:10are responsibilities or failures that could have played a role in the collapse of the
06:14roof of the premises.
06:15In addition, the government announced the formation of a commission of national and international
06:20experts to determine the exact causes of the accident.
06:24Over 220 people died in the fatal incident, including marrying guest singer Ruby Perez, who
06:28was performing at the time of the incident.
06:39And in this context, relatives of the victims filed a lawsuit against the owners of the
06:43nightclub where the accident took place and the local authorities for their failure to comply
06:48with their supervisory duties.
06:52The complaint came from the parents of one of the deceased, who demands a criminal conviction
06:56for involuntary manslaughter against the owners of the Jet Set venue, as well as compensation
07:01for the loss of their son under these circumstances.
07:04The amount of compensation has not been fixed, but the relatives are demanding justice for their
07:09relatives in what they consider an act of neglect.
07:23In the United States, a federal judge overturned a decision by President Donald Trump to eliminate
07:28humanitarian parole for migrants from Venezuela, Cuba, Haiti and Nicaragua.
07:34According to the court, the U.S. government failed to act within the regulatory limits set forth
07:38in the administrative procedure after seeking to drastically eliminate the program for migrants.
07:44This court decision is the latest legal setback against the Trump administration in its efforts
07:49to enforce its massive deportation policies.
07:52Also, a U.S. court will hold a hearing on Tuesday on the case of Kilmer Abrego Garcia, the Salvadoran deported
08:06by administrative error to a maximum security prison in El Salvador.
08:10The Salvadoran citizen continues to be deprived of his liberty in his country of origin, even though he had a court order
08:16for protecting him from deportation since 2019.
08:20Since his arrest on March 12, 2025, the family of the kidnapped migrant has been demanding his
08:25release and safe return to the U.S.
08:28For its part, the government of El Salvador underlined that there were no reasons to return Kilmer Abrego
08:32Garcia after describing him as a terrorist.
08:45On Tuesday, Mexican President Clara Chambam addressed the new 20.91 percent tariff on tomatoes announced
08:52by the United States.
08:53The head of state stressed the government was not notified of this measure and denied the alleged
08:58dumping of the produce claimed by the Trump administration.
09:01Tomatoes, it is important to know this.
09:06The Mexican government was not notified, neither through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, nor through
09:12the Ministry of Economy, nor through the Ministry of Agriculture.
09:18Lawyers for the tomato growers in the United States were notified.
09:23That is wrong.
09:26In any case, they should have notified the Mexican government as well.
09:31So, it is 90 days, as the secretary rightly says, tomatoes mainly from Sinaloa, although also
09:39from other states, are exported to the United States and it is an export that has been going
09:45on for a long time.
09:48Some US producers complain that the price of Mexican tomatoes is lower, when it is simply
09:53the production price.
09:56There is nothing that the state is subsidizing at the price at which it is being sold, something
10:02that does happens the other way around.
10:05Therefore, there is no dumping of tomatoes or of Mexican tomato producers in order to export
10:12tomatoes.
10:13So, there is no dumping that does the jitomate or the...

11:20Precisely, the Chinese leader warned of the imbalance in the global economic order and stressed the
11:24importance of boosting confidence in the links between Asian nations.

12:10of a new era in cooperation as the nations celebrate the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.
12:17The trip comes amid China's raging trade war with the U.S. after President Trump's set
12:22up tariff on Chinese imports.
12:24In Russia, a new Ukrainian drone attack took place in the early hours of the Tuesday morning
12:30against the city of Kursk.
12:31At least one person died at nine months were injured in the attack on the Russian city.
12:37Security agencies said it was a deliberate attack on the civilian infrastructure that caused fires in
12:43several residential buildings.
12:56The military headquarters in the city of Kursk said that Ukrainian drones also hit an ambulance
13:01which resulted in damage to 11 vehicles.
13:08The Russian investigative committee has opened a criminal case on a terrorist act based on
13:14the fact of a massive attack by the Ukrainian armed forces on the city of Kursk.
13:19According to the investigation, last night Ukrainian militants, using unmanned aerial vehicles of the aircraft type,
13:24carried out a massive attack on residential buildings in the city of Kursk.
13:29An unmanned aerial vehicle also hit an ambulance station.
13:33As a result of the crime, a woman was killed and nine more people were injured.
13:37In addition, residential buildings, other civilian buildings and more than 10 ambulances were seriously damaged.
13:43And Russia denounced Ukraine has not complied with the troops agreed with the United States regarding attacks on energy facilities.
13:53The Kremlin spokesman Demir Peskov said that Ukrainian troops are attacking its energy infrastructure on a daily basis,
13:59which shows that the agreement is being violated.
14:02The Russian official ratified that Moscow maintains the ceasefire against energy targets,
14:07which was established for a period of 30 days.
14:09The Kremlin warns that since the entry into force of the truce between Russia and Ukraine,
14:14the Kiev regime has ignored its ceasefire obligations and continues its selling.
14:27In our news, in Sudan, extremists of the Rapid Support Forces announced having seized the Sam Sam camp in northern Darfur
14:33two years following the outburst of the civil war.
14:36Sources close to the Sudan Liberation Movement denounced that such seizure of the Sam Sam refugee camp by the RSF
14:43brought about 450 deaths and many injured.
14:46Likewise, over 70,000 Sudanese civilians were forced to leave their homes to run away from the RSF attacks.
14:53In this context, the UN estimated the Sam Sam camp used to be home to over 500,000 displaced persons
14:59because it had been labeled as one of the largest safe zones in Sudan.
15:04In this context, the World Food Programme warns all parties involved of hunger crises in Sudan since the beginning of the conflict in April 2023 and calls for more funding.
15:21The organization called on an end to restrictions on aid access and facilitate humanitarian efforts for the affected population.
15:30The conflict has forced at least 13 million people to flee their homes and some 8 million are internally displaced,
15:36while many more have crossed the country's borders to neighboring countries where they are also in need of humanitarian assistance.
15:43It should be noted that the cuts have also affected the World Food Programme, with reports indicating that terminated U.S. funding for some of these programs has been restored, while others remain in length.

16:49Palestinian Folies reported that at least 17 Palestinians were killed and 69 wounded in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours.
16:57This way, at least three people were martyred and others injured when Israeli motor planes attacked a stand sheltering displaced people
17:04west of the town of Han Yunis, in the south of the devastated Palestinian enclave.
17:08Two more people were killed in an earthquake on a tent near the Tubi Sports Stadium in Beit La Haya in northern Gaza.
17:15The latest figures bring the number of people killed since Israel broke the ceasefire on March 18th to 1,630, with 4,302 wounded, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
17:30Every day there are massacres and martyrs, not just my son and my grandson. Every day children die.
17:36What is the fault of the child sleeping next to his father?
17:39Yes, he was born in the war and died in the war.
17:42He was only one year and four months old. What did he do to deserve this?
17:47The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, described as unacceptable the new Israeli proposal for a 45-day ceasefire agreement in the Palestinian territories.
17:56The Hamas movement rejected the Israeli proposal, which includes, among other things, the disarmament of the resistance and the imposition of conditions that would make the violation of any truce fragile.
18:07Hamas demands that any future agreement must include a permanent ceasefire and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.
18:15The Vatican advanced Monday that Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi, creator of Barcelona's Sagrada Familia Basilica, gathered all virtues to go through the sainthood process.
18:38On his first official statement, Pope Francis made such declaration as one of the initial steps to turn Gaudi, also known as God's architect, into a saint.
18:47Then the Vatican would have to beatify him before canonization, which is the last step.
18:52Gaudi's devotees had requested the Holy See to turn him into a saint for over 30 years.
18:59They grounded in the fact that the Sagrada Familia, great stone works, and spires pursued people to convert to Catholicism.
19:07Moreover, the Gaudi beatification society, made up of 80,000 people worldwide, have been praying to God and imploring him to perform miracles.
19:15And in Cuba, the International Poor Film Festival of Jibara kicked off Tuesday in Eastern Orguin province.
