00:00The Korean Ministry of Energy and Mines is working on restoring the national power grid
00:13after a failure that led to the nationwide power outage.
00:19South Korean lawmakers present a bill on Wednesday to impeach President Jeon Sook-yeol following
00:26the declaration of martial law.
00:31The Syrian army generals command together with the armed forces strong positions of
00:35terrorist groups in rural areas of northern Aleppo and Idlib.
00:46Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Ana Marrero from the Tel Azzur headquarters
00:50in Caracas, Venezuela.
00:51We'll be with the news, stay with us.
01:06The Cuban Ministry of Energy and Mines reported it is working since early Wednesday morning
01:11on restoring the national power grid after the failure that led to a nationwide power
01:15outage.
01:17Cuba's national electric company specifies that the power grid was fully disconnected
01:21at 2.08 a.m. local time due to the unexpected shutdown of the Antonio Guitera's thermoelectric
01:29plant.
01:30Reporting on the progress of recurring efforts, the company unveiled that in the capital Havana,
01:37three hospitals and 58 circuits already has service, which represents 103,151 users.
01:45In this regard, the Ministry of Energy and Mines informed that the subsystems already
01:50in place are providing more than 220 megawatts for the restoration of the national power
01:56grid.
02:00We think that today there will be a significant percentage of recovery.
02:05It will take us until tomorrow to reach the conditions in which the system was down, so
02:09that it can be online again, which would mean the national electric system has recovered.
02:15But it is already in a recovery process.
02:20In the same context, the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Marta Elena Feito, informed
02:25that labor and teaching activities in the country are suspended due to the disconnection
02:29of the national power grid.
02:33Given this emergency of the national electric power system, labor activities are suspended
02:39for the duration of this process, and teaching activities are also suspended.
02:44However, based on the condition of a group of service, the basic services to the population
02:50will be maintained as usual and other services will be provided to the population as long
02:56as the condition allows.
02:58On the day of Latin American medicine and health workers, Cuban physicians on duty in
03:03Haiti reaffirmed their historical commitment to the country.
03:06Unlike other countries, Cuba has never sent troops to its neighboring nation, only medical
03:11personnel.
03:12The Haitian people recognize the exhausted work of the Cuban medical mission, which has
03:17built up the pillars of primary and community care.
03:21The Cuban medical mission does not have the press coverage of other organizations, with
03:25less time and less impact in Haiti.
03:28However, Cuban doctors have a record of tasks and achievements in the Caribbean nation increasingly
03:34by the violence of hunger and poverty.
03:42In these difficult times, in these harsh times, in these times in which the hearts of the
03:46Cubans have been put to the test, I can tell you that our people are of a unique lineage,
03:51our people are forged like steel and our people are not even afraid of hardships and bad omens.
03:55We have been on duty for 26 years in these lands, in Haiti, in the most neglected places,
04:01in the most restricted places.
04:03Doing wonders in favor of the health of the Haitian people, I think it is a unique experience,
04:07an exalting experience, an experience that makes you dream of what you never thought
04:12of and I believe that we will never leave this place.
04:19In Peru, the Latin American Network for Economic and Social Justice met on Tuesday in Lima
04:24to analyze the ultra-conservative offensive economic, social and climatic justice in the
04:29region.
04:30Within the discussions, the evasion of tax commitments of the great Latin American fortunes
04:36gained special relevance.
04:3810% of Latin American millionaires concentrate 71% of the wealth of the entire region.
04:44However, they only pay 5.4% of taxes according to the figures from the Economic Commission
04:52for Latin American and Caribbean ECLAC.
04:54In this regard, meetings participants are organizing initiatives to offer alternatives
05:01to this very unequal model.
05:08On Tuesday, the Venezuelan National Assembly approved in first discussions the draft budget
05:13law for the financial year 2025 presented by the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez.
05:19The body highlighted truly revolutionary character of the project that marks the beginning
05:25of a new cycle in a political, social and economic life of the Bolivarian nation.
05:30The president of the legislative body, Jorge Rodríguez, recalled that the current good
05:34health of the economy is a product of the resistance of the people and a norm that the
05:40parliamentarians are not discussing was born from popular powers.
05:52In Argentina, the retires marched in rejection of President Javier Millet's decision to
05:57cut free medicines for senior citizens.
06:00For his demonstrators, mobilized the headquarters of the Integral Medicines Assistance Program
06:05pumped in all over the country.
06:08The president's measure establishes that retirees who earn more than 389,000 Argentine
06:14pesos, that is less than a half of a basic food basket, will automatically stop receiving
06:19up to five medications, while senior citizens with higher incomes will have to pay for the
06:25prescribed drugs.
06:26It is worth highlighting this is not the first attack that retirees have received from the
06:31administration of Libertad Avanza, as they suffered an abrupt cut in their income within
06:37the first month of Millet's government.
06:44The government of Argentina announced that foreigners are going to be charged for medical
06:48care and university education, so with the promotion of reforms to the democratic regime.
06:53The presidential spokesperson, Manuela Adorni, justified the measure, arguing it will represent
07:01more funds for the universities.
07:03Adorni further informed about a new policy that seeks to tighten the conditions for entry
07:09and the reasons for the expulsion of migrants allegedly, a measure to guard borders and
07:14protect the population.

07:33Welcome back to From the South.
07:44French Prime Minister Michel Sarbanier was voted out by Parliament after losing the non-conference
07:50vote just in the country's political and economic turmoil.
07:55The decision comes after Prime Minister Barney's decision to resort to the controversial article
08:0249.3 of the Constitution to approve the 2025 budget, which allows bills to be approved
08:08without a parliamentary vote, was met negatively by both far-right-wing parties.
08:14The National Assembly held a debate on Wednesday to vote on two motions of signature, one set
08:19table by the left-wing party, New People's Front and the other by Marine Le Pen's far-right
08:24Nationalist Rally Party.
08:26Barney is now expected to resign after 331 out of 577 lawmakers voted against him.
08:39Venezuela's executive vice-president, Darcy Rodríguez, visits China to strengthen bilateral
08:44relations.
08:45Rodríguez was received by the delegation of the government of President Xi Jinping
08:49and the ambassador of Venezuela to China, Minister-in-Chief Remigio Ceballos Icheso.
08:54It is expected that during this visit, the vice-president will hold meetings with important
08:59authorities of the ASEAN to strengthen strategic areas such as economic, technological and
09:04political, among others, that have been consolidated in the five stages of the bilateral relations
09:08between and among the nations.
09:11With more than 600 bilateral agreements signed, China is Venezuela's main trading partner
09:17in the ASEAN continent.
09:25South Korean lawmakers present a bill on Wednesday to impeach President Jung Suk-yool following
09:32the declaration of martial law, which triggered a clash between the parliament and the military.
09:37The motion to impeach the president was filed after a South Korean parliament rejected Jung
09:42Suk-yool to ban political activity and censor the media in that country.
09:49Currently, civic and labor groups held a vigil to demand the resignation of the South Korean
09:55president, who had already faced accusations of authoritarian leadership from his opponents
10:01and from within his own party.
10:03In tensions six hours after legislators presented a proposal to impeach the president, Jung
10:08Suk-yool rejected the declaration of martial law.
10:13In the same context, South Korean Chief of the General Staff Admiral Kim Myong-so ordered
10:24the military to be vigilant and maintain discipline in the face of potential threats aimed at
10:29the country's current crisis.
10:31Kim asked his troops to protect the safety of citizens first and foremost, and to maintain
10:38a firm posture of partnership in the face of possible attacks from their northern neighbors.
10:45This order was given after the National Assembly lifted the martial law decree by President
10:51Jung Suk-yool, precisely appealing to possible aggression from Pyongyang, which were dismissed
10:58by all sectors of the country.
10:59The president's opponents claimed that his administration has wanted to use North Korea
11:04to hide the constitutional violations committed.
11:11Furthermore, the South Korean Defense Minister, Kim Jong-un, resigned aimed at the president's
11:19crisis in the country.
11:20The chief of staff who was deploying troops has apologized to the people, holding part
11:25of the responsibility for the martial law that has generated a political crisis.
11:29The government, along with the U.S., promised to define the international order based on
11:34rules.
11:35Precisely, the president and the former defense minister were the main allies in a military
11:40operation conducted jointly by Washington and Tokyo on the Korean Peninsula, thus contributing
11:45to raising the risk of nuclear confrontations in the area.
11:55In the Philippines, a new impeachment compliance has been filed against Vice President Sara
12:01Duterte for alleged corruption and institutional offenses.
12:05Last week, Duterte was filed Monday before the Audit Commission, charging her with embezzling
12:13national funds as well as attempting to cover up irregularities with false reports, recipes
12:19and documents.
12:20Subsequently, the House of Representatives will terminate the allegations of veracity,
12:25which could take weeks or months.
12:27...to attend hearings, and by telling her staff also not to attend hearings, and by
12:35telling the Commission, ordering or asking the Commission on Audit itself not to submit
12:40its findings to Congress.
12:42So on this basis, we say that she betrayed the public trust, which is an impeachable
12:46offense under the Constitution.
12:52Russia increased its hydrocarbons shipments through the Northern Sea Road by almost 15
12:57percent so far in 2024 despite Western pressure.
13:00The Galat Leds report that 2.4 million tons of Russian liquefied natural gas has been
13:06allocated to Asia through the Arctic Road's Exiting 2023 levels.
13:11Overall, Russia shipped 1.33 million tons of liquefied natural gas to Asia and 1.16
13:18million tons to Europe in October, hitting a record of 3.06 million tons, which is 2.5
13:25percent over 2023.

14:11Welcome back.
14:18Over 26,000 Palestinians are suffering from serious injuries due to Israeli aggressions
14:23towards the Gaza Strip.
14:25The Central Statistics Office, a field that I figured registered up today, poses only
14:3125 percent of the injured total in the territory since the escalation of the Israeli offensive
14:36in October 2023.
14:38The NAD detailed that the disabled population is the most affected as it faces humanitarian
14:44conditions described as catastrophic worldwide, noting that from 13,400 to 17,500 Palestinians
14:52lost a limb or suffered serious injuries that require rehabilitation.
14:57The office specified that a third of this population has been injured by the Israeli
15:04siege, which prevents the entry of medical supplies as well as by the constant shelling
15:10which have destroyed hospital facilities.
15:13The Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson, Mahmoud Bassal, denounced the appealing situation
15:23in the northern region of the enclave, ensuring the Israeli regime is moaning an ethnic cleansing
15:29operation.
15:30The spokesperson assures that the northern Strip has been a target of Israeli operations
15:35for the last two months, destroying inter-families.
15:38The diplomat denounced constant shelling on residential areas and homes full of women
15:44and children.
15:45He further explained that although they are now working with a significant figure of military,
15:51their presence in the north is more than necessary than ever.
15:57Bassal further claimed that Israel does not alert civilians before launching its criminal
16:03incursions.
16:09In Palestine, the Salafi governorate records more than 321 violations by Israel in the
16:16occupied West Bank in the month of November alone.
16:20The allegations include the destruction of nearly 300 centuries old olive trees in several
16:26villages in the Palestinian city of Salfid, as well as more than 125 military incursions
16:32in which they loot homes and businesses and invade properties, territory and corpses land
16:39with the illegal detention of 21 troops.
16:41All of this is part of Israeli expansion in the Palestinian territory.
16:46According to the document, the Tel Aviv regime executed 21 roads, closed and freed three
16:53checkpoints in order to isolate the Palestinian population.
17:03The Syrian government forces struck positions of territory groups in the rural areas of
17:08northern Aleppo and Idlib.
17:10This way, the Syrian Army General Command, together with armed forces, reported that
17:16they had destroyed an operations center and three warehouses of the group.
17:21Furthermore, the army also eliminated 200 tourists, among them several leaders.
17:26In addition, the forces shot down more than 20 drones launched by the illegal groups against
17:32villages and safe localities, while military reinforcements arrived in the city of Hama
17:37to threaten the defense positions of the Syrian army.
17:42The Syrian Ministry of Defense confirms that they maintain control of the city of Hama
17:51in central Syria.
17:53According to the announcement, the Syrian troops control the outskirts of the city and
17:57hold different outposts.
17:59Still, the tourists have seized some localities and villages which the army is struggling
18:05to retake.
18:06The military report released early on Wednesday morning also reported the recovery of the
18:11Kafra Axis northeast of Hama.
18:14The ministerial office also assured us so far that it is in joint operations with Russian
18:19allies.
18:20200 tourists have been neutralized in Hama and Idlib, among them several foreign leaders.
18:37And now we change in topics.
18:40The Guaraní, a musical gender from Paraguay, was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage
18:47of Humanity by UNESCO on Tuesday.
18:50The organization's Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural
18:56Heritage announced the decision during its 19th session, which is underway in the Paraguayan
19:02capital, Asunción.
19:03The Guaraní was declared cultural heritage of the country in 2010.
19:08Later in 2011, Paraguayans said August 27th that the Guaraní stayed in a homage to the
19:14birth of its creator, José Asunción Flores.
19:17This musical gender is characterized for being melodious, with a slow and rhythmic beat,
19:24and for expressing themes related to love and nostalgia for the homeland.
19:30Today is a historical day for our country.
19:39The Guaraní, created by José Asunción Flores, is now Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
19:44This UNESCO recognition honors our music, our history, our identity and the soul of
19:49our people.
19:50Let's continue celebrating and preserving this cultural jewel.
