00:00My name is John Prevost. I am the brother of the new pope, Pope Leo XIV. He's the youngest of three. I'm the middle child and we have one older brother, Louis Prevost.
00:17I got the phone call that there was white smoke coming out of the chimney in Rome, so I went downstairs, turned on the television, and watched the proceedings going on. I called my niece to let her know there was white smoke coming out, and we watched together, and then we saw the curtains move, and then we saw the cardinal come out and announce who the pope was.
00:39She started screaming because it was her uncle, and I was in the moment of disbelief that this cannot be possible because it's too far from what we thought would happen.
00:52So I was in a period of disbelief, and then as he came out to talk, then we knew this was real, and I guess a sense of tremendous pride came over me, but then also, how's he going to handle this?
01:06Not only the sense of pride, but the huge responsibility that now is on his shoulders.
01:11Honestly, to tell you, I think he will be a second Pope Francis. I think he's got great concern for the plight of the poor, for the downtrodden, for the people who don't have a voice, so I think you'll see that kind of action going on.
01:28So I think he'll stay in that vein. That's where I see it going. He's not going to be real far left, and he's not going to be real far left.
