00:00Hi everybody, it's season 9.
00:09We've been interviewing designers all over the country and now our favorites are coming
00:12to New York for season 9 of Project Runway.
00:14Are we really back here again?
00:18Ooh, yes we are.
00:26The competition starts now.
00:28This is Project Runway.
00:35Wow, it's pink.
00:38Freakin' awesome.
00:39It's pink.
00:40It's very, very pink.
00:42I started making Barbie clothes when I was 8.
00:45My design aesthetic can be summed up in three words.
00:48Artsy, girly and edgy.
00:50Wow.
00:51Lame.
00:52Swanky-licious.
00:53The edgy comes and goes, but the blue hair helps.
00:56Oh my God.
00:59The Empire State Building is right out my window.
01:02Yes, this is a little off the beaten path for a Mormon.
01:04I've never been to New York before.
01:06I'm in a strange place.
01:07I don't know these people and I will no longer be the same.
01:13I don't know these people.
01:14Right?
01:15Yes.
01:16Be my roomie.
01:17Everyone keeps calling me as Barbie and I get it, you know, I kind of have that sort
01:22of look.
01:23That's not really me.
01:24The first initial thing people want to say when they see me is, oh, she looks sweet.
01:28But I've got quite a bite.
01:30I'll have breakfast.
01:315 a.m.
01:32No, I'm a morning person.
01:34You're not good.
01:35I'm burnt.
01:36You don't happen to snore, do you?
01:37I don't think so, no.
01:38I'm tough.
01:39But you'll find out real fast.
01:42I feel like we're in summer camp.
01:48You know, what if you have to pack it up right away?
01:50Don't think that way.
01:51Okay, I won't.
01:52I'm not packing it up.
01:54Good night.
02:12Surprise!
02:13What the hell?
02:14I need you all to wake up right now.
02:18Oh, my God.
02:23Rise and shine, everyone.
02:25Yeah.
02:26Rally.
02:27Damn!
02:28What are you doing here?
02:29We're having a project runway come as you are party, everyone.
02:34Oh, my God.
02:35I want you to grab one sheet from your bed and meet me downstairs.
02:39Can I at least put a bra on?
02:40Come as you are.
02:41Typically I sleep start naked, so let's thank the heavens that I didn't do that.
02:57It's just shocking.
02:59I'm out in New York with a headscarf on.
03:01Not good.
03:03And here we are.
03:04It's very odd.
03:05Five o'clock in the morning, and you're passing Bryant Park.
03:08We're good.
03:09Work it.
03:10Work that sheet, girl.
03:11We passed Red Lobster.
03:12I'm like, yeah, we're going to Red Lobster, get some cheddar biscuits.
03:15Oh, my God.
03:16Walking through Times Square in my PJs.
03:18Check.
03:20Come on in.
03:21We get to Parsons, and I think we're really here.
03:27Come on in.
03:28Find your space.
03:29Oh, my God.
03:30We are in the workroom.
03:32It's like you can feel the energy of, like, so many people that's been there before you.
03:36So you're almost like a continuation of a legacy.
03:39Designers, I want to welcome you to the workroom at Parsons, the new school for design.
03:44Next door, we have our brother sewing room, which is fully outfitted with brother sewing machines.
03:49You each have an HP tablet, and the HP and Intel technology is a vital and critical resource for your creativity, so use it.
03:59Now, you may be wondering why I brought you here in your pajamas at the crack of dawn.
04:06Yes.
04:07What you were wearing and the one sheet that you brought are the materials for this challenge.
04:15All right.
04:16Holy .
04:17Like, what am I going to do?
04:19I barely have anything to work with.
04:22Plus, this is, like, old and pilling.
04:24I mean, this is what it's all about, making something from nothing.
04:29What you see on your table are what you can wear, because you're going to have to take the clothes you're wearing off.
04:35In the designer's lounge, we have closures for you.
04:39We have dyes and dyeing bins, so you can manipulate these things.
04:44Now, it's your first challenge.
04:46This is your opportunity to really wow them.
04:49You have until 10 o'clock tonight.
04:52You will sketch and then just dive into your challenge.
04:56Thank you, Tim.
04:57Okay.
04:58Make it work.
05:01You want to get noticed right away, so I'm going for it.
05:04That's why I came here.
05:05I'm not coming in tiptoeing.
05:07I'm coming in stomping.
05:08I like these things.
05:09I'm sketching it.
05:10It's really fast.
05:12What I'm wearing is obviously not that classy, but I do have a lot to work with.
05:16I'm doing three pieces.
05:17A top, a jacket, and some shorts.
05:19I love, I love.
05:20It'll be good.
05:21As soon as I found out about the challenge, I knew right away that I wanted to use the puking clown.
05:26I have to.
05:27That's, like, totally my personality.
05:29I think I'm in phenomenal shape.
05:30Who else is wearing satin pajamas with lace?
05:32Like, good thing that I'm glam and that I like to wear this kind of stuff to bed.
05:36Laura has an amazing negligee, but I don't know if she's going to have the skills to work with the silks and the laces.
05:45I'm going to make this cute little one-shoulder dress using the boxer shorts as the bodice.
05:49The judges said my clothes were a little too subdued, a little too quiet, but that's why I wanted to do Project Runway to get me a little bit more experimental.
06:02Oh my god, the threading takes forever.
06:19Four months of sewing is four months of sewing, so obviously if I'd done it before, it wouldn't take so long for me to figure it out.
06:26But I'm literally teaching myself as I'm going along.
06:32It's showing that I don't have the experience that everyone else has, for sure.
06:47The challenge is we must use our bed sheet and incorporate the pajamas that we're wearing into the look.
06:54Those pants are so funny.
06:56That's so not her personality.
06:57Yeah, those pants.
06:58I don't know what she's going to do with them.
06:59They have bows and candy or something.
07:01Maybe she likes that.
07:03My vision is kind of sporty but sophisticated.
07:07So in my head it makes sense.
07:09Is it going to work?
07:10I don't know.
07:12I wonder if there's going to be a twist.
07:14You need to make an accessory out of your underwear.
07:16Ew.
07:17I have a clutch idea.
07:20Bert's using his underwear.
07:22Uh-huh.
07:23You are?
07:24Your model's going to have nut juice.
07:26You said what?
07:28Ew.
07:29Ew.
07:30Who even said that?
07:31That's terrible.
07:32It's natural, people.
07:33But we don't want that visual right now.
07:35No.
07:36I'm doing a pair of pants because I've never really made a pair of pants.
07:42I don't really know what I'm doing.
07:45But I'm just using common sense because I don't really know what else to do.
07:49How is everybody?
07:50Sam!
07:51Hey!
07:52I feel like I'm in a medical center with all these scrubs.
07:56So Anthony Ryan.
07:57Yes.
07:58Talk to me.
07:59So I started out with a tank top and these shorts.
08:04I think my biggest competition is Anthony.
08:07He has a lot of good ideas.
08:08He's very organic.
08:09What I was thinking with the feathers is to cluster them here.
08:14I mean, I don't want to sexualize everything.
08:17Right.
08:18But look at the placement of those.
08:20Yeah.
08:21There's a way of using the feathers that wouldn't be this pubic patch.
08:25Got it.
08:26All right, Anthony.
08:27All righty.
08:28Thank you very much.
08:29Thank you, Mr. Gunn.
08:30You have to call me Tim, please.
08:31Or else I really feel like an old fart.
08:33How's Feline?
08:34These are my yoga pants.
08:36Okay.
08:37And this was the t-shirt.
08:38This was the logo that was on the t-shirt.
08:40I just wanted to...
08:41What is this logo?
08:42It's the clown puking rainbows.
08:44Is that a toilet?
08:47It's some interesting looking things in this room.
08:49But, you know, some people can't help what they sleep in.
08:51I think that once I finish it, it could look really good.
08:54All right, Feline.
08:55Awesome.
08:56Carry on.
08:57Carry on.
08:58How are you, Josh?
08:59Tim, I'm so good.
09:00I did like a square little V-neck.
09:02And then I did just a white short.
09:04How much seam allowance do you have?
09:05Half an inch.
09:06You haven't met this model yet.
09:07Right.
09:08I hope half an inch is enough.
09:09And then my last piece is like a little jacket with a hood on the sweats.
09:13Don't lose your way here because I think this could be an absolute knockout.
09:17I'll be making sure that it really is a knockout.
09:21Julie, I'm eager to hear what you're doing.
09:23There's product.
09:24There's pants.
09:25They're just big pants.
09:26Almost like snowboard-y-esque.
09:28Okay.
09:29Julie is really kooky and fun.
09:31I think she could do some pretty cool stuff.
09:33And then the top, I'm gonna make strips of this and then top stitch it.
09:37Do you have time?
09:38Yes.
09:40You say it with complete confidence.
09:41So I believe you.
09:42Absolutely.
09:43Okay.
09:44How's Bert?
09:45This is my shorts.
09:46This is a t-shirt I had on.
09:48And then this is the sheet, which I've tied.
09:50Who is this person?
09:51Just a beautiful young girl going out for maybe a summer party somewhere.
09:55You just have to get that in mind when you're styling it.
09:57Okay.
09:58How are you?
09:59I'm not bad.
10:00What does that mean?
10:01Are you good?
10:02I liked it, but I don't know where.
10:03Yeah.
10:04No.
10:05Damn.
10:06You can't lower the skirt.
10:08She's gonna look like a 50-cent hooker.
10:10I know.
10:11So talk to me.
10:12Tell me what you're doing.
10:13Well, silk is a little bit challenging.
10:15Well, you didn't know when you went to bed last night that this is going to happen.
10:18I'm grateful that that's what I wore.
10:20What I see sewn so far looks very good.
10:25I haven't dyed before and I did it.
10:26I've never draped something like this before and I did it.
10:28You haven't made pants before either.
10:29It's the first one like this.
10:31You took on a very ambitious project.
10:34I love Anya.
10:35I think she's really gonna pull out some stops that we're all gonna go,
10:38what just happened?
10:41Hello, Rafael.
10:42Hey, Tim.
10:43How are you?
10:44Good.
10:45I can envision what this is going to be.
10:46Talk to me about this top.
10:47I'm kind of waiting to determine just exactly which direction to go with it.
10:51Why are you waiting?
10:52Because I really want to see how it looks on the model.
10:55I'm concerned that these decisions aren't made.
10:57I understand.
10:58I can see it all.
11:00It's just I have to finalize it.
11:01Let me raise another flag.
11:03The judges are going to say to you,
11:05the most interesting textile that you have is the one on your head.
11:09Right, right, right.
11:10It's something that I'm very mindful of and that I have considered
11:12and how to incorporate into the outfit.
11:14Well, why don't you take it off right now and drape it?
11:16I can't take it off because my hair looked a hot mess.
11:19I didn't want to look homeless.
11:20They're going to say to you, you didn't maximize your resources.
11:24Yeah, I totally understand what you're saying.
11:26Can I share something else with you?
11:28Yeah.
11:29Your name was in and out of that out pile.
11:33I don't want the judges to say on the runway tomorrow,
11:36we should have.
11:38All right, I can see you gulping.
11:39I want you to gulp.
11:40I am gulping.
11:41OMG, like really right now?
11:44I felt like you needed a dose of Tim Gunn medicine.
11:48Very strong and I love it.
11:49You can do this.
11:50I can.
11:51But you've got to make decisions now.
11:54Yeah.
11:55Coming up on Project Runway.
11:59It didn't really occur to me that I would be that far behind
12:03until I was that far behind.
12:05There's a couple of people freaking out,
12:08but that's all you can do at this point.
12:26I hope you need a little bit more Right.
12:27Thanks.
12:28I'll see you all, right.
12:29Thanks for coming up.
12:30I'll see you all in two months.
12:31Bye.
12:32Bye.
12:33Bye.
12:34Bye.
12:35Bye.
12:55Designers, the transformation that you've brought to these materials is remarkable.
13:08I will also say, though, some of you have a lot of work to do.
13:12Your models will be coming in for a fitting very soon.
13:15And we randomly selected models for you for this first challenge, all right?
13:19Bye, everybody.
13:21I think after that conversation with Tim, I really made up my mind that I wanted to fight for myself as a designer.
13:31Whoa, models.
13:32Hi.
13:33Hi.
13:34Oh, my gosh.
13:34What's your zodiac sign?
13:36Gemini.
13:37Okay, you're cool.
13:38That's a lot of personality.
13:40This beautiful girl came over.
13:42She's awesome.
13:43I'm very, very happy.
13:45Let's hope that these fit.
13:47Okay, maybe they're a little bit tight.
13:49Where are you from?
13:50Are you speaking foreign?
13:57Speaking foreign.
14:04I actually looked great in my clothes.
14:07The clothes weren't a perfect fit, but really it was not more than maybe an extra 30 minutes of work to get it to where it needed to be.
14:13That will have to work.
14:15It didn't really occur to me that I would be that far behind until I was that far behind, because this is something I've never done before.
14:23So let's go.
14:24So let's go.
14:24Get some sleep.
14:26Hot momma.
14:27Hot momma needs a hot potty.
14:29I knew.
14:35Is that ready for today?
14:37I don't think anybody in this room is going to go home anyway.
14:39Are we ready to rock and roll?
14:43First of all, Maddie.
14:44Okay.
14:45Game day.
14:47Yeah!
14:49Good morning.
14:50Good morning.
14:51Good morning, designers.
14:58How is everyone?
15:00Good.
15:01Really?
15:03I'm about to send in your models.
15:05You will have two hours to send them to the L'Oreal Paris makeup room and the Garnier hair studio.
15:10And your accessory resource is the Piper Lime wall.
15:14It's very, very, very important.
15:17All right.
15:17Bye, everybody.
15:18I'll see you later.
15:19Make it work.
15:21Hello, ladies.
15:23Yay, we did it.
15:24Your butt looks good.
15:25So pretty with the lace.
15:29I have to figure out how it is I'm going to incorporate my headscarf into the garment.
15:33There's a couple of people freaking out silently at this point, but just push forward.
15:41That's all you can do at this point.
15:43So you're adding them as tears to the back?
15:46No, it's going to be like a necklace.
15:48Oh, it's going to be an accessory then.
15:50Yeah.
15:50Gorgeous.
15:53Hi.
15:54Hey, great look.
15:56Smoky eyes, mainly black, not too big.
15:58Just to really bring out the blue in her eyes.
16:00She has such pretty eyes.
16:01I really want a contoured, tailored face.
16:05Just a really clean, kind of edgy look.
16:09A little too hard.
16:10It's beautiful.
16:11It's a little bit of a pop.
16:12Okay.
16:12No, it won't pop.
16:13Maybe a little bit more mascara.
16:14Let's lash out.
16:15A scarlet lip, but I don't want too much color on her eyes at all because I just want the lip
16:20to show.
16:23Maybe, I don't know if you want to, I mean, I'm not that with the hair.
16:27Not that I've had that much experience, but sort of big, loose, wavy hair.
16:31Like, Bridget Bardot-ish.
16:32Yes.
16:33Deep part, and it's flicked as to her head as you can, like, really, really, really tight.
16:38It's a little bit Judy Jetson, so it's a little sweet.
16:40No bangs.
16:40No bangs.
16:41The bangs back in.
16:41Tighter on the sides?
16:42Tighter, but not too tight.
16:43I want it to be more, like, pulled back.
16:46Whoa.
16:46Pull over.
16:47Now it's getting here.
16:48This is it.
16:58It's the moment of truth.
16:59We are going down to the runway right now.
17:01Let's go.
17:03Good work.
17:04I think we're going to have some interesting looks walking down the runway.
17:07We're all going to be a bit surprised.
17:10Raphael, this is it.
17:11Anya?
17:12Okay, that's everybody.
17:16All right, we did it.
17:17Coming up on Project Runway.
17:19I think she looks awful in that outfit.
17:22I hate your styling.
17:24It looks really dated.
17:42Welcome to the runway.
18:12As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
18:18There's 16 of you here, and after tonight, there will be 15.
18:25Three of you will be showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, and one of you will be the winner
18:30of Project Runway.
18:32The winner of Project Runway will receive $100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to start their own line,
18:37a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine, a $50,000 technology suite from HP and Intel
18:43to enable their creativity and run their business, and the opportunity to design and sell an
18:48exclusive collection on PiperLime.com.
18:51The model, paired with the winner of Project Runway, will receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine and $25,000 from L'Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Professional.
19:01For your very first challenge, we asked you to create a look out of your pajamas and one sheet from your bed.
19:09The winner of this challenge will receive immunity and cannot be eliminated in the next challenge.
19:14All right, let's meet the judges.
19:16First, we have CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Michael Kors.
19:20Hey, guys.
19:22Fashion director for Marie Claire magazine, Nina Garcia.
19:25Hi, everyone.
19:27And actress, Christina Ritchie, soon to be seen in ABC's Pan Am.
19:32Welcome.
19:35We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
19:38One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
19:42All right, let's start the show.
19:55As I'm watching my model, I'm in this dream state because I can't believe that I'm, or I can believe that I'm sitting in these chairs because I've worked hard to get here.
20:12Seeing my look on the runway, I am proud of what I did.
20:20I hope that the judges can see I fully lined a jacket and chain-weighted it.
20:25I don't think anybody else made three separate pieces.
20:29I think she looks amazing.
20:40This is a great look to show first.
20:42This is a lot of what I do, and, you know, it's possible I could have a chance of getting in the top.
20:49I want to steal her.
20:51We'll see about that, Lauren.
20:52As I see my model walking on the runway, I'm thinking, it looks really elegant, it looks really good, and I could tell the judges are looking at it.
21:10Sell it, sell it.
21:11Sell it, sell it, sell it, sell it, sell it, sell it, sell it, sell it, sell it, sell it, sell it, sell it.
21:19Not bad.
21:21It's well-constructed.
21:22It's cute.
21:23Except the color's a little bit too pastel.
21:26It's the only thing I'm thinking.
21:28I'm so excited she looks amazing I can't believe I pulled it off I'm very pleased
21:48with the way mine turned out
21:58she looks fabulous the look overall I think says something about me I'm really happy I went in the
22:06direction that I did those pants are amazing first time I am pretty confident that look was not going
22:24to fly I'm feeling kind of mortified but what can you do about it I'm satisfied with what I have
22:44given the limited time and resource we had overall I was extremely happy and my model was amazing
22:54I know the top looks great but I just hope the judges don't see the fit issues on the pants I
23:09wasn't happy I just wasn't happy
23:11I'm just praying to God that her butt doesn't come out of it naturally it's going to start to ride up
23:28but I'm just thinking no ass cheek no ass cheek no ass cheek
23:32I feel confident within my look again still I know that everything isn't where it should be
23:47I'm really most proud of the detailing that I did in the back of the vest
23:51I'm feeling so happy when my clothes come down the runway I'm totally back in the puking clown
24:07that's my sense of humor all the way I don't have any regrets
24:13I'm very excited about the way my garment turned out it's almost like something that I would design
24:29for a client but it's different it's made me reach that little bit of edge that I've been
24:33looking forward on Project Runway
24:35the boxers was just amazing
24:47Ashley looked great in my clothes
24:49I truly believe that what I've put together is exactly what I envisioned
24:54I am really pleased with what I have
24:56I love you
24:58I think my model looks chic and expensive
25:10I am a little concerned about the skirt because the skirt is going up a little bit
25:15but I was satisfied with the whole look
25:17my gosh I could actually win this
25:20if I call your name please step forward
25:32Anthony Ryan please step forward
25:34Raphael
25:36Josh
25:38Anya
25:40Bert
25:42Julie please step forward
25:44If I have not called your name congratulations your scores have qualified you to move on to the next challenge
25:51you can leave the runway
26:05That was so nerve-wracking
26:07Oh my goodness
26:08Like I am not in the right spot like what the hell
26:11You're in you're safe
26:12That's like not good enough
26:13The remaining designers have the highest and the lowest scores
26:19Let's bring out your models
26:30One of you will be named the winner
26:32And one of you will be out
26:35You
26:37You
26:42Anthony Ryan, tell us about your look.
27:08I started off with a bad pair of, you know, high 80s shorts and just an ill-fitting tank.
27:14Being colorblind, I was like, I'm going to work with black, white, gray.
27:17This was originally the yellow, so I took some trimmings that they provided for us
27:22and just recovered it just to give it that jet black feel that I wanted.
27:25And then I made a short skirt.
27:29First of all, it's very interesting to see what you guys wear to bed.
27:33Because we never get to see that.
27:34I like how you changed your pajamas into this a lot.
27:42You know, it's unrecognizable.
27:44If you told someone that you were colorblind, you know, and they didn't know,
27:49they'd be like, what?
27:50Yeah.
27:50I think these colors look very cool together.
27:53I like the fact that you used the trimmings, but it didn't go overboard.
27:59And you used them in a way to fix problems.
28:02Right.
28:03The skirt is a little bit short, but I think the proportions work on her.
28:06And that's something I always look for, being somebody who is very short.
28:11Raphael, tell us about your look.
28:15My look was pretty much, well, clearly I used my pajamas to make my look,
28:19but with the jogging pencil, the depleting in the front,
28:21I did this layering right here on the side, if you turn it off for me.
28:25And in the back, it kind of has these tears panels that go in the back.
28:29And then in the front, the neck piece is my headscarf.
28:31I had time constraints on that part, and that's the headscarf that I use.
28:35I see a lot of problems with this outfit.
28:40What grown-up wants to walk around with a bib?
28:42I think she looks awful in that outfit.
28:46She's wearing like a Flintstone disco pouch.
28:49And then it's like a sweatshirt, legging, jean combo that is just unflattering.
28:55I think you had fit problems.
28:57It looks tight on her, and it looks really dated.
29:02It's mainly the pants.
29:05Are off-putting.
29:07But the shirt is really interesting, and shows a lot of craftsmanship,
29:12and it looks like a lot of time went into it.
29:14Yeah. Thank you, Christina.
29:17Julie, tell us about your look.
29:19Well, I had for, that you have the photo of, my pajama pants, which was this.
29:25I kind of was referencing an oversized pants, snow pants.
29:28Just something fun and easy to wear.
29:30I had really high expectations.
29:32When your rec came into, you know, to the casting that day, I loved all the things that you had there.
29:41I'm very surprised today.
29:44The whole thing is just bad.
29:48Yeah, I'm a little confused.
29:53The shirt is charming.
29:56But I wouldn't want to wear it.
29:59My only defense is I was in a sewing learning curve, I guess.
30:03What's on the side of those pants?
30:06Oh, it's just elastic holding them off.
30:08That's my biggest problem, to be honest with you, is the poor construction of those pants, because they look weird.
30:15It's an odd angle for a pocket.
30:17It might be a very, I like myself kind of pocket.
30:22It's like, hi!
30:23I mean, you know, it's a little, it's tough.
30:29Anya?
30:30Well, you can see that I was wearing a sort of kimono-esque nightdress.
30:35And that was what made the top, and then the pants are from my bedsheet.
30:41I really wanted to prove that I could construct something, especially since I've actually never sewn silk before.
30:46I think for you to choose to make a pair of pants, which is not easy, that they look this good, is extraordinary.
30:57The top looks really great, but the back of it is what I like the most.
31:03It's a nice touch.
31:04I'm happy to see that you can sew, because I was really rooting for you.
31:10I wish I had that top.
31:11Those are great pants.
31:13I love the whole thing.
31:14Really great job.
31:15I mean, also the butt.
31:16Let's just focus on the butt.
31:18Yeah, that's a really good butt on the pants.
31:18Turn around for a second again.
31:20Just stay right there.
31:21Yeah.
31:21Great.
31:21I mean, the butt fits pretty nicely.
31:23Great.
31:24Right?
31:24Great.
31:25Very well done.
31:29Bert, tell us about your look.
31:31I had on my little orange checked boxer shorts and a taupe t-shirt.
31:36I do remember, though, in my last interview that the comment was my clothes were a little
31:40simple, so I wanted to try and get some tension going with the pullings and the things.
31:45I love the different tonals here.
31:47That's following the asymmetric line.
31:49I am in love with this outfit.
31:53It's sexy.
31:54It's elegant.
31:55It's casual, too.
31:56It's modern.
31:57I love that, you know, the neckline.
31:59It looks so simple, but it has a lot of interesting design to it.
32:03I think you have adorable boxers.
32:07It's an adorable dress.
32:09It's feminine.
32:11It's sexy.
32:14Terrific.
32:14I love the proportions of it.
32:17I love that it cinches in at the waist.
32:20Can I see the back of it?
32:21Sure.
32:23Yeah, I just think that's so pretty.
32:25Yeah.
32:25It's really, really beautiful.
32:27Good job.
32:29I like all the tones, the taupe mixed.
32:31I like the asymmetry.
32:33I hate your styling.
32:35You need to bring her into modern times.
32:36I second-guessed that, yeah.
32:38You know?
32:38I mean, I want to, like, scrub her lips, pull her hair into a ponytail, because the design
32:44is fabulous.
32:47Josh.
32:48I had a t-shirt and sweats, this little jacket hoodie.
32:52I quilted some of the panels, and then on the t-shirt, you know, manipulated the fabric
32:58a little bit.
32:58I was definitely looking for a summery, fun, maybe a little more athletically inspired
33:03look.
33:03Are you happy with the way that it fits your model?
33:08I think there were some issues.
33:09There's some fit issues, maybe in the front of the short.
33:12I actually had to, you know, take out a little bit in the shirt as well.
33:16But, I mean, those are things that you learn for next time, I guess.
33:21I don't know which one is worse.
33:24Raphael's or yours.
33:28This top, it's terrible.
33:32What is this thing down the front that is, like, is that the piece that you had to put
33:35in because it didn't fit?
33:37I mean, the front right around here is the most important thing of an arm, no?
33:41Right.
33:43It's so terrifying because I feel like I wish somebody else had told me throughout this
33:47that doesn't look good.
33:49It is not up to any of the other designers to tell you that you're going the wrong way.
33:54You're totally right.
33:55I agree.
33:56What this is all about is your gut.
33:58Sure.
33:59You are in a competition of design, and you are going to show me a pair of white shorts
34:07and a tank top.
34:09I need to see something creative, exciting, imaginative.
34:17I get it.
34:18I mean, there definitely has to be something more in what I'm doing.
34:26Okay.
34:27We're going to have a little chat, and then I'm going to bring you back out.
34:31You can leave the runway.
34:32Oh, God, how was it?
34:45It was intense.
34:46It was very hot.
34:48What's going on?
34:49It was a disaster.
34:50They hated it.
34:51They hated it?
34:53They hated it.
34:54Yeah.
34:55Like the word hate.
34:56Like, yeah.
34:57They were like, I don't know whose words, Raphael or yours.
35:00I've essentially just taken the beating of a lifetime.
35:04It is like having someone look into your soul and tell you everything bad you've ever done.
35:09It is terrifying.
35:13Based on the fact of what they had to work with, I think our designers came up with a great fashion show today.
35:18It's not easy to take a poly-cotton blend sheet, which doesn't sew that easily, doesn't take to dye that well, and come up with something creative and polished.
35:30But I also have to say there were some really ugly things on that runway as well.
35:35Joshua, for example.
35:36That was really bad.
35:38That was hideous.
35:39I mean, I don't know much about how you fix this.
35:42You could have put a side panel, like a tuxedo stripe, up the side of the shorts.
35:47You could have hidden, in the back of the t-shirt, a seam.
35:50Wouldn't it look so garishly?
35:53Off.
35:54You think it was a problem?
35:58But I don't know which one was worse, because Raphael's is just as bad.
36:01But the shirt kind of saves it a little bit.
36:04Do you think, no?
36:05I don't think Raphael understands that there is a problem.
36:11I don't either.
36:12I think he thinks this tight stuff is good.
36:17Excuse me, it looks like she went out to eat.
36:19She ate too much and had to unsnap her shirt.
36:22Not very fashion forward.
36:23Fashion backward.
36:24Fashion backward.
36:28Julie closed third.
36:31Mmm.
36:32Also pretty bad.
36:33No, but you look at what Julie had to work with, you know, and she's wearing this juvenile pajama pant.
36:39Right.
36:40Who would want to wear that print?
36:41But you could take that print and you could make it something wearable by making it darker.
36:46And then match it with a color that goes with something that's more sophisticated.
36:51I wasn't so offended by the print.
36:54It was the pant that went to South.
36:56And it was the construction of the pant, actually.
36:58Let's talk about the designers that we do like.
37:05We liked Anya.
37:06She knew we doubted her.
37:08Yes.
37:08So she really was smart and thought about it.
37:11And she said, you know what?
37:12I'm going to make a beautifully tailored pair of trousers.
37:15Yes, she was clever with that.
37:16Yep.
37:16It looked perfect.
37:17And focused on the pant.
37:18And the pant was quite impressive.
37:20I have to say, I was like, wow.
37:23I like the top very much.
37:25I always said that she should be in here.
37:27You guys weren't so sure about that.
37:29I was sure.
37:30I wanted her.
37:30I love the taste.
37:31I just was unsure of the fact of saying that someone could be that much of a wizard,
37:37that they could do all of this in such a short period of time.
37:41We also liked Anthony, Anthony Ryan.
37:46That t-shirt was adorable.
37:49That's something that we all would want to have.
37:50All of us.
37:51Yeah.
37:51It looked cool.
37:54It looked great.
37:55He didn't embellish it too much.
37:57I like the overall look.
38:00I like that he kind of left her a bit disheveled to go with the fact that his look wasn't totally
38:08put together and polished.
38:11He knew to do that and I like that about it.
38:14Yeah.
38:18Bert!
38:19I have to say I like Bert.
38:21And he listened because we said, you know, Bert, you have to turn the volume up a little
38:26bit.
38:27I think it was the most interesting garment.
38:29Yeah, very nice.
38:30As far as design that we saw today.
38:32Yeah.
38:33Yeah, very sophisticated.
38:34The styling freaked me out.
38:36Oh, the para-faucet hair and then the heels.
38:39I love the dress so much.
38:41I didn't even notice the bad styling.
38:43Because the dress is great.
38:44Yeah.
38:44I think he's a good designer.
38:46Yeah, I do too.
38:46So, have we made our decision?
38:55All right, let's bring them back out.
38:56One of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out.
39:26If you tell me, I'm a good friend.
39:29Yeah, I was hosting.
39:30You have the picture mold on this side of him.
39:32I'm a bad designer.
39:33I'm going to leave me the water.
39:35Yeah.
39:35You're at the result.
39:36Yeah, we didn't want the adapter fit down some of the colors.
39:36I could, I mean, see.
39:37Yeah.
39:37Okay, so Barbara, let me jenize.
39:38Yeah, but I think that we can make adjustments for it.
39:41If you like me, then a picture, let me just Killer and Penни back.
39:42Well, you'll describe in our newsぐらい.
39:44And in person is going to get back.
39:44Yeah.
39:45Yeah.
39:46Okay, so llamado I was the go-man.
39:46Another theme in depth.
39:47Yeah.
39:47It's a good idea.
39:48One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
40:12Bert, congratulations.
40:18You are the winner of this challenge.
40:20Thank you so much.
40:27I'm happy to say that you have immunity for the next challenge, and you cannot be eliminated.
40:32That's the best. Thank you.
40:35You can leave the runway.
40:39Thank you, guys. Good job.
40:41My right hand, I had to keep it in my pocket because it was sort of going like crazy.
40:45I thought I'm going to have a stroke here on the runway, but that didn't happen.
40:49I feel amazing, and I'm very relieved.
40:53And?
40:54I won.
40:55Really?
40:57Best part is I have immunity for the next challenge.
41:00Congratulations.
41:02Congratulations.
41:04We all did a great job.
41:06Why are you shaking then?
41:08Because I'm a little freaked out.
41:10Oh, no.
41:11I think I might have discriminated against Bert a little bit just because of age, you know?
41:15I was blown away.
41:16I thought Bert did a great job.
41:18Ugh.
41:21Anya, you're in.
41:24You can leave the runway.
41:26Good luck.
41:27Good luck.
41:28Anthony, Ryan, you're in.
41:31You can leave the runway.
41:33Good job.
41:36Thanks.
41:37Thanks.
41:39Josh.
41:40Julie.
41:42Raphael.
41:45You're in.
41:50You can leave the runway.
41:55Oh, thank you.
42:05Josh.
42:12You're in.
42:15Thank you. Thank you.
42:17But barely.
42:19You won't regret it. Thank you.
42:25Rafael, unfortunately, that means you're out.
42:31Auf Wiedersehen.
42:33All the best to you.
42:35Thank you. Thank you guys so much.
42:39I definitely enjoyed my time here.
42:41Just because I'm off the show doesn't mean the sewing machine is turned off.
42:45It's always something I'm going to strive to do.
42:47Oh, Rafael.
42:49Well, clearly, it's me.
42:51Thank you guys so much.
42:53It's been fun.
42:55Oh, you guys are lovely.
42:57I'm going to miss you, though.
42:59Hi, Tim. I'm going to miss you, too.
43:01Hi, everybody.
43:03Raphael, we're going to miss you.
43:05You've made such a positive impression in such a short period of time.
43:07Thank you so much, Tim.
43:09So I have to send you to the work room to clean up your space, okay?
43:11Okay. Thanks so much, Tim.
43:13You take care of me.
43:15All right. You, too.
43:17Bye, guys. Do good. Bye.
43:19See you around. Bye.
43:21I'm going to continue to push the ball.
43:23I'm just going to continue to knock down doors, break down barriers,
43:25and just really fight for myself as a designer,
43:29and just continue living my life and my dream and just sewing.
43:33This season on Project Runway.
43:37Welcome to Petland Discounts.
43:39Holy crap. We're dressing dogs.
43:41Hello.
43:43Oh, my.
43:45We're headed to our first outdoor runway ever.
43:47It's just madness.
43:49Let's see your button now.
43:51There's no time for learning. I just have to get it done.
43:53Oliver's stressed.
43:54Oh, my God.
43:55I'm struggling to stay in the game.
43:57I will not have it, Bert.
43:59I can see it's getting very stressful.
44:01In the history of Project Runway,
44:03I've never, ever felt this worried about people not finishing.
44:08It feels like there's a black cloud over me.
44:10If this is too hard for you, you can go any time.
44:13That looks bad.
44:14That does look bad.
44:15Just keep going.
44:16That's what you have to do to survive in this competition.
44:18No, you're going to be fine.
44:20I am shocked.
44:21She looks like an old grandmother.
44:23And then the hair is crazy.
44:25And I even said, this looks like a cocktail dress.
44:28You're just lying right now.
44:29No, I'm not.
44:30Yes, you are.
44:31I've probably gotten this pissed since I had cancer.
