00:00Field not too far in behind them as we get set for race three in the fourth round of the Shell Championship Series here at Eastern Creek.
00:08A bumper crowd here, 22,650 fans, that is a new record for a V8 supercar round here at Eastern Creek.
00:16The Rat and Markscape on row one, Lowndes and Ingle row two, Glenn Seaton and John Bauer on row three.
00:22Then it's Craig Baird and Tony Longhurst on row four.
00:26Here are Ford fans plenty to cheer about this weekend.
00:29Stephen Richards alongside Crompton, Murphy and Jones.
00:32Good effort from Brad Jones.
00:33Paul Morris and Jason Bargwana.
00:35Barg's fighting through from the back of the grid.
00:37Made up 22 positions.
00:38How about that?
00:39Stephen Ellery and Stephen Johnson in 16.
00:42You go further back, McConville and Kelly.
00:44Mick Donahue and Mark Largham.
00:45Johnny Faulkner from row 11 alongside the man making his debut in the series.
00:50Greg Ritter, Formula Ford Champion, Paul Will and Dougal McDougal on row 12.
00:54Trevor Ashby and Chris Smerden out of row 13.
00:57Mark Poole and Peter Doolman out of 14.
00:59Cameron McLean and Rodney Forbes out of 15.
01:01Out of 16, Alan Heath and Garth Tander after that collision with Lowndes.
01:06He broke the steering rack.
01:07He's going to start way down the back.
01:09I tell you what's all important.
01:11This one is the start because Radicic's start in the first one was absolutely brilliant.
01:16Going to be interested to see what our Russell does on the second row of the grid.
01:20He's got a bit desperate now I think.
01:22Radicic was very clever the way he drove that race too because the car's got plenty of horsepower.
01:27And he just held them in through the corners and then nailed them on the straights.
01:30Here's who was out.
01:31So far, Anthony Tratt, Car 75, Steve Reid and Matthew Coleman deputising for Danny Osborne, Car 22.
01:39So, three retirements today.
01:41It's been tough work out there.
01:43So, some practice for Garth Tander from the rear of the grid.
01:47Practice for that second race coming up when we head to Canberra on the June long weekend for the GMC 400.
01:53The second race, the 25 lapper is a rear or reverse grid situation.
01:58Russell Engle off the second row of the grid.
02:00What can he do?
02:01Rebs rise in the V8s.
02:02A win to Ford and a win to Holden.
02:03Who will do it in race three here today?
02:05Radicic sits on pole alongside Skye.
02:08Oh, Radicic.
02:09It's great, Skye.
02:10Look at Engle.
02:11There's been contact between those two.
02:14But Engle's gotten through there.
02:15Lowndes, I think, will have the better run into turn one.
02:17And Radicic has already cleared out of there.
02:19Look at these two side by side.
02:21The Castrol Commodore and the Mobile Commodore.
02:23Lowndes will have the race.
02:24There's been a spinner.
02:25Bargwana.
02:26Bargwana's involved there.
02:27That's a big one.
02:28Major, major one.
02:29Now, it looks like Thomas Mazira's involved in that as well.
02:32We'll get a closer shot.
02:33That is Jason Bargwana, Stephen Ellery.
02:36Well, Ellery copped a fine after that contact with Steve Reid earlier on.
02:40So he hasn't had a good day.
02:41This is the lead.
02:42But we may have a red flag situation in the bank.
02:44And those wrecks cleared away.
02:46Paul Radicic, though, making a brilliant start in heat three.
02:50And Russell Engle absolutely fired out of the second row.
02:53You've got a third position.
02:54Oh, look at this.
02:55Escape.
02:56Right over the edge of the asphalt.
02:58Drops the wheels onto the dirt.
03:00He wants to get past this shelf forward as fast as possible.
03:03So Craig Lowndes, right up behind the shelf, Alcon.
03:06Mark Scaife, see, earlier on, just dropping a wheel off the asphalt.
03:12Lowndes doing it, too.
03:14Here's the points after two heats of round four.
03:18Scaife leading at the moment.
03:19Radicic behind.
03:20But if Radicic wins this one and Scaife comes second, Radicic will win the day on count back.
03:25So an important day for forward.
03:27Can Radicic stand on the top level of the podium this afternoon?
03:31Craig Lowndes is going to make sure he does it.
03:33I'm just looking at the starter.
03:35It looks like there's something going on, a bit of talking on the starless whistle.
03:38Look at this.
03:39Look at this.
03:40Craig Lowndes having a look.
03:41Radicic shuts the door as they come down the front straight.
03:43The crowd are on their feet.
03:44A fourth lead from a Holden.
03:46Radicic from Lowndes.
03:48Then it's Russell Engle in third place.
03:50And Mark Scaife in fourth as they swing through turn one for the second time.
03:54Look at the mess.
03:56Yeah, that really upsets the balance of Radicic's car there.
04:01260 kilometers an hour on the approach to turn one.
04:04Let it get hard on the brakes down to turn two.
04:07Radicic defending strongly from Lowndes.
04:09Gets really sideways under power coming out of turn two.
04:12If inside these guys are on second-hand tyres.
04:14This is looking out the back of Paul Radicic's car, Baz.
04:17Yeah, it's Scaife there, you see.
04:20Look at Engle.
04:21I thought Engle was going to go into Lowndes.
04:23Oh, he did actually touch him.
04:24I thought he did.
04:25But yeah, Scaife, I don't know what he did.
04:27He just, bad luck job.
04:29Let's have a look here.
04:30Let's just see where you can see.
04:33Oh, boy.
04:34That looked like Stephen Ellery touched the back of Jason Barguana.
04:37It was the start of it.
04:39And then...
04:40All-wheel taking evasive action.
04:41Todd Kelly, all of them.
04:42Look.
04:43Amazing that there wasn't more people who...
04:45Oh, look at this.
04:46Have a look at this from another angle.
04:48Oh, touch there.
04:49Here we are.
04:50Now, all the mayhem breaks loose here.
04:52Look at the cars going every which direction.
04:54It's amazing they weren't more involved in there.
04:56They've got more stock to put it that way.
04:58So the rat is on the attack at Eastern Creek this afternoon.
05:01Winner of Heat 2.
05:02Brilliant start.
05:03Heat 3.
05:04He's got Craig Lowndes boxed in behind him.
05:06Important round for the reigning champion.
05:08He needs points here this afternoon.
05:10Look at Lowndes.
05:11Lowndes is pumped up.
05:12Now sideways at the exit of Turn 12.
05:14He is really having a go.
05:16Craig Lowndes, the defending champion.
05:18Down the front straight they come,
05:19but that has cost him on the exit of Turn 12.
05:21Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen Lowndes try as hard as this.
05:25He's really, really tried hard.
05:27The thing is, Dick Johnson cars,
05:29they're famous for their horsepower.
05:31Radisic is really using that to advantage,
05:33particularly when he just comes out of Turn 12 onto the main straight.
05:36That first 150-250, he's just got a little bit more squirt than the Commodore,
05:40and he uses that to maximum advantage.
05:42That's how he's holding him in.
05:43He's pretty quick through this section, though.
05:45If you look at Radisic here, across the top of this,
05:48and then into the right-hander, he was really quick.
05:52Oh, look down the inside by Lowndes,
05:55filling the mirrors of the Shell 18 forward Stephen Ellery.
05:58We hear from the Pits has retired after that altercation with Jason Barguana,
06:02so it's been a bad day for the Super Chief Autos team.
06:05These two continue to battle away around the back of Corporate Hill.
06:08A great shot as we go up high from the Goodyear blimp,
06:11and you can see Lowndes all over the back of the Shell.
06:15Helix forward, a forward leading from a Holden,
06:17and Russell Engel sits in third place, the enforcer.
06:19What a day he's had, and hoping for a mistake from either of these two
06:23to try and move forward.
06:24Lowndes, an outside run.
06:25Possibly trying to snap back a touch, yep.
06:27Possibly trying to switch back on him on the exit of Turn 9.
06:30He can't do it again.
06:31The forward gets the power to the ground nicely.
06:33Yeah, it does.
06:34You can see all the black smoke coming out of him.
06:38They've got to run it about as rich as she'll go as they can...
06:41Oh, yes!
06:43Oh, it's gone!
06:45Braddock's gone!
06:46Braddock's gone!
06:47Wow!
06:48I tell you, this is a very un-Lowndes-like day to me.
06:51It's, um...
06:52That says it all.
06:53Well, under the driver etiquette rules,
06:55you've got to be alongside the B fellow.
06:57But there's a challenge now.
06:58Russell!
06:59Russell Engel takes advantage of that.
07:01Coming together to shoot through to the lead.
07:04Here from the pitch, they're telling Hall to try and keep going,
07:07but I think he might have backed it into the soundtrack.
07:09Now, Skate's coming for a run here too, Mark.
07:11It's so sweet and down into turn two.
07:13Look at Lowndes!
07:14Trying to fight back past Engel.
07:18Well, there's Paul Radice is getting back into the action,
07:21but the officials are going to look in very closely.
07:23Oh, there's no doubt about that.
07:24How far Craig Lowndes was under Paul Radice.
07:27Let's have a look at this.
07:29He's got to be alongside the B fellow.
07:31Right.
07:32For this to be considered Lowndes' corner.
07:33Let's have a look.
07:35Oh, wow.
07:36Well, the problem is, though, Mark,
07:39there was no way that Radice couldn't turn into the corner.
07:44He was turning in.
07:45He was committed.
07:46And there's nothing really you can do about it.
07:49Well, a very disappointed Dick Johnson.
07:51You know, the highest of highest, the lowest of lows.
07:55The winning thing too, yeah.
07:57Incredible.
07:58Garth Tanner, for those of you following the progress
08:00of our championship leader coming into this round,
08:02has moved up to 20th from 33rd spot on the grid.
08:06But now, after what's been a torrid year for the Enforcer,
08:09he is leading the pack.
08:11Three Holdens up in front.
08:13Ingle.
08:14Tucked in behind him.
08:16The Holden Racing Team duo.
08:17Lowndes ahead of teammate Scaife.
08:19Seton right under.
08:21And then, Seton having a sniff of the...
08:22Oh, look at Lowndes.
08:23Sideways.
08:24Oh, oh, yeah.
08:25Mark Scaife's got him.
08:26There'll be a drag race between these two.
08:28Forget it.
08:29Seton for the run two.
08:30Three wide.
08:31The crowd stand on their feet here at Eastern Creek
08:33as Seton gets through on Lowndes.
08:35Lowndes has gone from second place to fourth
08:37in the blink of an eye.
08:38Scaife's through to second place now.
08:40Russell leads.
08:41Lowndes has gone back to fourth place
08:43because Seton is up the field.
08:45Look at Longhurst now.
08:46John Bauer coming for the right.
08:48It's 0-2.
08:49Oh, what a race.
08:50Oh, I don't know whether Lowndes must have some problem
08:53because he's just going backwards at rapid rate of knots.
08:56Yeah, he's had a big tank slapper coming through that corner
08:58and he's just been slowing right down.
09:00He's still in the queue, but he's lost a ton of positions.
09:02I wonder if that might have been as a result of that contact
09:05with Paul Radisic.
09:06Won't know, but he's really struggling.
09:08He's gone right back into the order.
09:10So this puts Mark Scaife in a very strong championship position now.
09:15He's only got Russell Engel up ahead of him.
09:17He's currently sitting second in points behind Garth Tander.
09:19Tander's way down the order.
09:21This could be a very crucial day in this championship for Mark Scaife.
09:25Wow.
09:26What a day so far.
09:27What looked like a processional opening race
09:29has been followed by a sensational second one,
09:31which Radisic's won.
09:33And we're only five laps into this one,
09:35and it's looking like an absolute ripper.
09:37You ride with Glenn Seaton in fourth place.
09:39This is the fourth in-car camera.
09:41That's the great thing about having an open-place helmet.
09:45You can see all the expressions,
09:47everything going on in the head of Glenn Seaton.
09:50It just cracks me up when I look at Glenn
09:52when he's chewing his straw.
09:54He really talks his way around the track too quite often.
09:56Yeah.
09:57You catch him on the in-car camera,
09:58he's going,
09:59come on, come on, come on.
10:00Oh, that's smoke.
10:01What's going on?
10:02What is that?
10:03I think it's just...
10:06He's got his head down.
10:08He's in the cars.
10:09Blow a fair bit of smoke when they're...
10:11Something...
10:12Be clear.
10:13Be clear and simple.
10:15On-board calamity to Glenn Seaton.
10:17Road speed on the left of your screen.
10:19Engine Revolution's on the right.
10:21It's really interesting to see Glenn's face going into that
10:24fast left hand drive to the start list.
10:26That is a very, very quick corner
10:28and it's enough to care for his attention.
10:30Up to third, then bang, fourth.
10:32He just has shifted up to fourth
10:34so that he's not stuck trying to shift gears
10:36right in the middle of that turn.
10:38You can see that Baz there,
10:40the puffs of smoke from that engine as he shifts gears.
10:43Just something to do with the engine management program
10:45they're running in that engine.
10:47As the car's looking strong here
10:49at Eastern Creek this afternoon.
10:50He's had a good consistent run all day
10:52and now he finds himself...
10:53Romano.
10:54...in third position.
10:56So, as we saw at Adelaide,
10:58a rebirth for FTR.
11:00Glenn Seaton set on this new Bridgestone control tyre.
11:03His car responded very well to it
11:05and he's continued that form at Eastern Creek this afternoon.
11:08Right in there in the battle for the lead.
11:10Hasn't been the weekend for the Obdis Commodores
11:12we saw before the start of this race
11:14that Steve Reid was out with engine problems.
11:16Now we hear from the pits
11:17but his teammate Trevor Ashby
11:19is also out of this one
11:20after some sort of altercation with Rodney Forbes.
11:22Back at the front, you watch Seaton.
11:24Sitting in third place.
11:26Escape ahead of him and Russell Dingle leading the way
11:28in the Castrol Commodore.
11:30Yeah, there's a lot of smoke coming out of Seaton's car.
11:32He just really, uh, not only the sort of burnt fuel and that
11:35but it's, uh, can't make out what's going on there.
11:37If you get another shot at it, you'll see.
11:39As Seaton looks up in his mirrors,
11:40that's looking out the back of the FTR Falcon.
11:42Tony Longhurst in third position.
11:44John in, uh, fourth position, I should say, behind third.
11:47John Bauer in fifth.
11:48Craig Baird in sixth.
11:50Craig Lowndes in seventh.
11:51Neil Crompton in eighth.
11:52Stephen Richards in ninth.
11:54And Greg Murphy in tenth.
11:55So the two Kmart Commodores in the top ten.
11:57Good to see them coming good towards the end of the day.
12:00Two to keep an eye out for as well.
12:02Stone Brothers racing.
12:03Tony Longhurst in fourth place.
12:05Craig Baird now up to sixth.
12:07We were talking to, uh, Ross Stone the other day
12:09and he was saying that they're looking for good things here
12:11and it's looking good for them at the moment.
12:13Ingle leads the way from Skate Seaton.
12:15Tony Longhurst, John Bauer, Craig Baird.
12:17Craig Lowndes has slipped to seventh place.
12:19Then it's Crompton.
12:20Richardson Murphy doing very well.
12:22Rounding out your top ten.
12:23Trust you're enjoying all the action.
12:24Stay with us.
12:25This race is a ripper.
12:33On track. Temperature around 35 degrees.
12:35So it's hot here at the creek and it's hot on the track as well.
12:38Russell Ingle leads the way in the Castrol Commodore.
12:41From Markscape we are on lap eight and thirteen
12:44in the third and final race of the fourth round
12:46of the Shell Championship Series.
12:48And what a day it's been.
12:50If Russell could pull this off it would be a popular win.
12:52No doubt about that.
12:54Well he certainly needs a boost in his points.
12:56He's currently 11th in the championship standings.
12:58With only 194 points to Garth Tander's 422 coming into this round.
13:04So he's got a massive points deficit.
13:06Garth Tander meanwhile is up to 16th position.
13:08Our championship leader.
13:10He started from 33rd on the grid after that steering rack breakage
13:14after colliding with Craig Lowndes.
13:16So he's up to 16th.
13:17So every point vital.
13:19As he climbs his way back toward the top.
13:21Neil's up in eighth place.
13:23Neil Crompton's pleased with that.
13:27Ned Crompton there in eighth position.
13:29But that's a real disappointment seeing Radisic go out.
13:35He's making it a very exciting afternoon.
13:37Yeah.
13:38Hasn't been a good weekend for the Greenfield Mowers outfit either.
13:41Cameron McClain in pit lane there.
13:43As we watch Craig Lowndes, the defending champion,
13:45just ahead of Neil Crompton.
13:47You're saying before the break there about the performance
13:49of the Stones Brothers racing outfit.
13:51Baird currently sits in sixth place.
13:53Top Kiwi at the moment as well.
13:55And of course just ahead of him two places.
13:58Tony Longhurst sits in fourth.
14:00Ross Dane was talking to us prior to this round
14:02and he said they've taken a few radical moves.
14:04They've minimized the boys' immediate commitments this weekend
14:07and told them to really focus on the job.
14:08And the poor old girls.
14:09Even the wives have been told they've got to stay home.
14:11They've got to concentrate on racing this weekend.
14:13The poor old girls.
14:14I'm sure they'd love to be called that.
14:16That's great.
14:17It's great so far for Longhurst.
14:18That's the closest it's been to the front for a long time.
14:20So very closely knit bunch.
14:24That leading quartet.
14:261.6 seconds.
14:28Back to John Bauer.
14:30So Glenn Seaton, the highest place forward.
14:33Tony Longhurst, John Bauer.
14:35Oh!
14:36Oh dear.
14:37Not again.
14:38Now, we need to have another look at that.
14:40I can't believe this.
14:41Craig Lowndes has been involved in a few incidents today, hasn't he?
14:44Wow, really.
14:45It's the third collision he's been involved in.
14:47There's damage to the front right there, Mark.
14:49Or front left, I should say, on Baird's car.
14:50So that'll put him out, I'd say.
14:52It's been a long time since you've seen Craig Lowndes involved in this many incidents.
14:58I've got to say.
14:59I've just said in the foot.
15:00I haven't seen him drive so aggressively ever.
15:02You know, I really haven't.
15:03It's going to be interesting.
15:04I've got L Stewart are rubbing their hands in the lights.
15:05So Craig Lowndes, a little further back in the order.
15:06No, that's a critical round.
15:07Let's have a look.
15:08Watch, watch, watch, watch, watch.
15:09I don't think.
15:10I have to say, I'm pretty sure there was no touch there.
15:12Pretty sure.
15:13Just like Craig lost the back end there.
15:14Yeah, it looked like Baird lost it and unfortunately Craig was involved.
15:18But, jeez, Craig's been, that's the third incident he's been involved in today.
15:34He's really been.
15:35But that, I'm pretty sure he didn't touch it there.
15:38No, it didn't look like it.
15:40So, he's really been in the wars.
15:42Plenty of paddle rubbing.
15:44Craig Baird out of the car.
15:48Very disappointed too, I'd say.
15:49Four laps remaining for our race leader.
15:51Baird was running in sixth position.
15:52His strongest performance, really, since Phillip Island, the opening round.
15:57This will be a big lift for Russell Ingle.
16:00Leading currently 11th in the point standings.
16:04His championship chase has taken a real back rink so far.
16:08So, any points he can get here is going to be very valuable to him later in the season.
16:13Well, when you consider on the first practice, the first day, Mark, he was 25th.
16:19So, he's done a lot of work and it's obviously come up with the right answers.
16:24Well, he was just saying how frustrating it was because he said it just checks the drive of the other cars coming out of the corners.
16:30There's only a car leg there, but he just can't find whatever it is in the chassis to make up that little deficit.
16:35Well, the car seems to be running pretty well now.
16:37Fans of the Enforcer are going to be happy with this one.
16:39If he can pull it off and win this one, it'll be his first victory since he and Larry Perkins co-drove to the win at the Queensland 500 last year.
16:48So, a long time between drinks for the Enforcer.
16:52And right now, he leads the way from Scaife and Seton.
16:57Incidentally, Russell Ingle, a big fan of the Darwin circuit and that's where we're heading very, very soon for the next round of the championship, round five.
17:06So, looking forward to going north.
17:07And then, how much interest is there for the GMC 400 in Canberra on the June long weekend?
17:13A lot of interest from both Melbourne and Sydney.
17:15People keen to travel up and down the eastern seaboard for that one.
17:18If you haven't already booked your accommodation, get in early.
17:20Well, look at that.
17:21Garth Tander, 11th in the order.
17:23Three laps remaining.
17:24Garth Tander is now almost inside the top ten.
17:27He started from 33rd on the grid.
17:29The championship leader is really fighting here this afternoon.
17:32That's amazing.
17:33That's an incredible drive.
17:35The tenth now.
17:36Yep.
17:37Tenth position for Tander.
17:38So, after that rotten luck in Heath 2, new steering rack attached.
17:44He's absolutely been charging.
17:49Kmart Commodores as well, coming good towards the end of the day.
17:52Greg Murphy up to seventh now, the top Kiwi.
17:54And Stephen Richards in ninth, just ahead of Garth Tander.
17:57So, we'll keep an eye on him.
17:58There's the Murph.
17:59Brad Jones in behind him now.
18:01There's Stevie.
18:02There is Garth Tander.
18:03Wow.
18:04That's amazing.
18:05That's a really good drive.
18:06That is incredible.
18:07Oh, it's Larry.
18:0823 positions he's made up since the start.
18:11There's only a short sprint race.
18:13So, the Valvoline Cummins car really flying.
18:15And this is good, mature driving from our championship leader.
18:18There's not even a mark on the car.
18:20Yeah, he's brilliant.
18:21He's very, very...
18:22You remember when he had that sort of a coming together at the Melbourne Grand Prix race
18:28a couple of years ago.
18:29He got a lot of shrapnel for that.
18:31He went through that real patch, didn't he?
18:32Yeah.
18:33There's a lot of crashes.
18:34The guy was labelled a whole heap of things for his driving style.
18:37Winning the Formula 4 championship and stepping up into V8 supercars.
18:40And this year, and in particular last year, he really came of age.
18:44I think he came of age at this circuit, in fact.
18:46And now, doing good things in race three today.
18:50A storming drive in the back of the grid and doing it cleanly.
18:53If Markscape stays where he is,
18:55if Tander can pick up two more positions,
18:57that'll make them equal on points.
18:59Can you imagine that going into Hidden Valley?
19:02Tander escaped tight on points.
19:04If Tander can pick up two more positions, two laps remaining,
19:07he's running out of time to do it.
19:11Oh!
19:12Look down the inside.
19:13Word through from the pits is that the Holden Racing team
19:17are talking to Mark, to Markscape, that is,
19:21to try and keep it cool in the run towards the finish.
19:23He currently sits in second place,
19:25and they've told him to try and work on the bars inside the car,
19:28the anti-roll bars,
19:30to try and make sure they get the optimum set-up out of the car
19:33and nurse those tyres all the way to the finish.
19:35Look at Brad Jones' car.
19:37It's, uh, it's happening.
19:39You see how much he pulled out of the K-wire car there?
19:41Yeah, they have made some changes to that car since that crash,
19:44and Brad's been very happy with it.
19:45This is the best performance so far by this team.
19:48It's actually nice to see them smiling again.
19:50Yeah, nice to see it the right way up as well, don't it?
19:52But they're doing this on merit.
19:53I mean, this is the battle for the top ten.
19:55They're in eighth position,
19:57fending off Stephen Richards and Garth Tander.
19:59Oh, look at Tander up the inside of Stephen Richards.
20:02He's got it.
20:03Yeah.
20:04Oh, has he?
20:05Oh, he's got a...
20:07This is what Brad Jones is seeing out of his rear-view mirror.
20:09Steve, he's not an easy customer to get by either.
20:12But Tander ducks in behind.
20:14He's done such a good job getting up to where he is.
20:17It'd be terrible if he threw it away late in the race.
20:19Larry Perkins into the pits.
20:21Well, isn't that the extremes?
20:22Russell Ingle leading the way.
20:23And teammate, Larry Perkins, problems in the pits.
20:28They will get the last lap board this time around
20:31as they come down the one-kilometre-long main straight.
20:35Russell Ingle has seen it.
20:36He's on his way home.
20:37Can the enforcer do it?
20:39And take his first win of the 2000 season
20:41and his first win since the Queensland 500 last year.
20:45There'll be a lot of fans who'll be hoping for that.
20:48Yeah, well, there's no doubt.
20:50Unless he outbrakes himself somewhere, he's got it in the bag, hasn't he?
20:53It's a great, great driver.
20:54It's nice to see him get a good result
20:57because they've been struggling.
20:59Well, if he does bring it home,
21:00that'll be three different winners
21:02from the three heats in this afternoon.
21:04And, uh...
21:06First time in a long time, yeah.
21:08And Statistician Nigel will be going into overdrive
21:10to learn to work all that out.
21:12I have to say, the first race is,
21:13oh, dear, we've had to improvise, haven't we since then?
21:16Really good.
21:18A good performance from Tony Longhurst in the Caltechs
21:20Haveline car.
21:21He's up in fourth position.
21:22That'll be his best result, too.
21:24Clipping for the second of the Stone Brothers Falcons.
21:27And there's the shot from the Goodyear blimp
21:29that's been over the track all day,
21:31giving us some wonderful pictures.
21:33And there's our race leader, Russell Ingle,
21:35coming through turn nine.
21:36Only three more turns to go
21:38and a straight before he can bring this one home.
21:39That'll be a huge relief for the Enforcer.
21:42Had a terrible start to Season 2000.
21:44Can he turn it around before we get to November?
21:47A good result also for Tony Longhurst
21:49who currently sits in fourth place.
21:51And Glenn Sutton, third in the MTR balcony.
21:54If they finish the way they currently stand,
21:56the Enforcer brings it onto the straight for the final time.
21:59He flashes the lights to the crowd.
22:01The resurgent Russell Ingle will take victory in race three here at Eastern Creek.
22:06Well done in the Castrol Commodore.
22:08And well done to the Larry Perkins racing outfit.
22:11They would be delighted with that.
22:13Perkins racing.
22:14There's Oscar and the boys.
22:15They've worked very hard all weekend.
22:17And a mixed bag of results when you consider that
22:20poor old Larry's down in the pits with problems.
22:23Skatey in second place.
22:24Glenn Seton in third.
22:26Tony Longhurst fourth.
22:27And John Bauer rounds out your top five.
22:29Yeah, Garth didn't make it past Brad Jones or Stephen Richards.
22:34But it's a good drive. Amazing drive.
22:36Well that is the first time since Calder last year
22:39that we have had three different race winners
22:41at a round of the Shell Championship Series.
22:43Russell Ingle takes out the third one from Skate.
22:45Seaton.
22:46Tony Longhurst.
22:47John Bauer.
22:48Neil Crompton a great drive up into sixth.
22:49Brad Jones well done finishing in ninth place.
22:51And Mark Larkham in 11th.
22:59Scorecard at the end of today reads one to Ford, two to Holden.
23:03And that is the reason why Radisic hoping to repeat his Race 2 victory
23:06in the third of the day came horribly unstuck.
23:09Russell Ingle went on to win from Mark Skate and Glenn Seaton.
23:12A good drive by Tony Longhurst to finish fourth.
23:14And what about Garth Tander off the rear of the grid finishing in tenth position.
23:18Paul Radisic ended up recovering to finish 22nd.
23:20Right now though Mark Osler is on the podium.
23:23Well for the first time in a long time we've seen three different heat winners
23:27from three different races.
23:29Fantastic Ford versus Holden Entertainment at Eastern Creek this afternoon.
23:32Holden still dominant but Ford showing still a force to be reckoned with in season 2000.
23:37Well in third place today, good strong performance from the Ford Tipcad racing team.
23:41Put your hands together for Glenn Seaton.
23:43Congratulations.
23:48This is very, very hard work isn't it?
23:50But being up on the podium it shows you're doing the right thing.
23:53Yeah Mark, especially after Wanneroo we sort of lost the plot a bit
23:56and we came back in Adelaide and also came back this weekend.
23:59So it's great to be up here.
24:00It's been a long while since I've been up here that's for sure.
24:02Thanks Glenn Seaton.
24:03Put your hands together folks.
24:04Third place today.
24:05We go to Hidden Valley.
24:06The Fords hopefully will be stronger there too.
24:08Second place today, well it's been a long time.
24:11It's been a pretty tough start to season 2000 for the Enforcer.
24:14But he's doing the right thing at Eastern Creek this afternoon.
24:16Put your hands together for Heat 3 winner Russell Engle.
24:25There's a few Bs there.
24:26You're the bloke similar to hate are you?
24:28Oh we like the Bs.
24:29More Bs, come on.
24:30Hey look, that's it thanks.
24:33We're just real happy to win a race you know.
24:35It's been a long while between directs and I'm glad we're sort of making a bit of headway
24:39so roll on Darwin.
24:41Yeah absolutely.
24:42Now you like that place up there and traditionally you've done well.
24:44Yeah we've had a win in a couple of seconds and we've gone really well.
24:46So I just want to get back up there and try and get back out of that championship.
24:49Put your hands together folks for the Enforcer Russell Engle.
24:52Still very much a force to be reckoned with in 2000.
24:55Right now I'd like to call on Charlotte Gould the communications manager for Shell Australia
24:59to make the presentation to our overall winner.
25:01Boy is looking strong in this championship isn't he?
25:04Mark Scaife.
25:13I think there's a few disappointed Ford fans up here.
25:17Well obviously today they've done a great job.
25:19I mean Paul Radicic won the second race and Glenn was very strong in that last race.
25:23I mean we had nothing left and I mean it's good that the series is like that.
25:26I mean it's really tough and just a good driver's a good team.
25:29Bit of a contact there between Lowndesie and Paul at the top of the circuit.
25:32It just shows how tough it was.
25:34I had a little tear in the corner of my eye there Mark.
25:36You could tell.
25:37I mean it was one of those things.
25:39I thought Craig was up far enough to be his corner
25:41but Paul was struggling to get into that corner all day
25:43and it was a pretty, I mean I thought the move was the right move
25:46and the straight line speed that Ford's got you needed to get him there
25:49so that he didn't hose you off down the straight.
25:51So it was a really good day.
25:52Congratulations Mark Scaife.
25:53Put your hands together folks.
25:55The winner of one four at Eastern Creek Raceway.
25:59And the good news continues for Scaife as well
26:01because the tide has turned.
26:02Garth Tander has been leading the series since the opener in Phillip Island.
26:05Now Scaife leads by just four points over Tander.
26:08Paul Radicic sits in third on 395 points despite that problem today.
26:13Jason Barguana back there in 11th.
26:15Russell Indle. Some good news for him.
26:16He started the day in 11th place in the championship
26:19but has now moved up the order which is fantastic for him.
26:21Well Barry Sheehan it's been an absolutely unbelievable day here hasn't it?
26:24Well incredible.
26:25I thought the first race oh well business as usual.
26:28We've had two of the best races I think.
26:30Feel a bit sorry for Radicic.
26:31Feel a bit sorry for Tander.
26:33It's been an unusual day for Craig Lowndes.
26:35It'll be interesting to see if the officials have anything to say.
26:37But we're looking forward to Northern Territory.
26:39Neither of us two have ever been there so we're looking forward to it.
26:42You haven't been there in three years.
26:44So I'm looking forward to this is my first crank at it.
26:46We've got plenty of action coming your way.
26:47I'm right here on your home of motorsport.
26:49Coming up round four of the Kart World Series from Brazil.
26:52That is going to be a ripper catch.
26:53All the action with Billy and Neil Crompton tomorrow night from 1130.
26:56But of course as always check your local guides there.
26:59Coming up round two of the Konica V8 Lions.
27:01That is happening at Phillip Island on the 6th and 7th of May.
27:04And if you can't get there check our action here on Trackside a week later.
27:09You won't miss a moment of it.
27:10I promise you that.
27:11And also the Shell Championship Series.
27:12Barry and I will be making our debut up there for Hidden Valley.
27:15But it's going to be a beauty.
27:16Look forward to going north on the 21st of May between 3 and 5.
27:19Of course check your local guides.
27:20It's been a terrific day here at Eastern Creek.
27:22Trust you've enjoyed all the action.
27:24Bye for now.
27:43Have a look at this from another angle.
27:44Oh, what happened there?
27:46Oh, that is just one of the little cars.
27:52Oh, good job.
27:53Oh, the wheels come off.
27:59It's about the safety car out open.
28:01Oh.
28:02He's not a happy jappy.
28:03Oh, he wants the ribbon to John Briggs too.
28:06Oh, no, it's come off.
28:08Oh, this car's going.
28:09There must be something on the road.
28:14Oh.
28:16Oh, my God.
28:25Oh.
28:26Oh, my God.
28:27Oh.
28:28Oh.
28:29Oh, big crashes.
28:30You have to try and fix some of that debris.
28:32Oh.
28:33Oh, Tim.
28:34Sideways is Larry.
28:35Oh, look at that.
28:36He is severely...
28:37Oh.
28:41This is Brad Jones.
28:42That's a big roll over.
28:43Oh, yes.
28:44Oh, yes.
28:45Oh, my God.
28:46Oh, my God.
28:47Oh, goodness me.
28:49The tires don't come for the fuel as well.
28:50Oh, there's been a plane.
28:51There's a plane here.
28:52Oh, my God.
28:53Oh, my God.
28:54Oh, my God.
28:55Oh, my God.
28:56Oh, my God.
28:57Oh, my God.
28:58Oh, my God.
28:59Oh, my God.
29:00Oh, my God.
29:01Oh, my God.
29:02Oh, my God.
29:03Oh, my God.
29:04Oh, my God.
29:05Oh, my God.
29:06Oh, my God.
29:07Oh, my God.
29:08Oh, my God.
29:09Oh, my God.
29:10Oh, my God.
29:11Oh, my God.
29:12Oh, my God.
29:13Oh, my God.
29:14Oh, my God.
