00:00Jeff Kirkshen with Craig Morgan here at the CMA's. We had you, gosh, I want to say a year ago now,
00:05you were on a book tour. You sat down with my dear friend Andy Summers and talked all about the book
00:10and the journey. So in that moment, I learned even more about you. How cool was it being able
00:15to put all your thoughts, your heart into those pages? Cool and nerve-wracking. A little, it was
00:21odd for me. Because it's a different art form than music, right? It is. It's a completely different
00:25thing. And with that, I feel like the stories that I'm telling is still left to some personal
00:34interpretation. You know what I mean? Same with the song. But this was more personal. I mean,
00:40with the song, I might write a song and I might have some reflection of a personal affair or
00:46something that made me write that song. But this was really all me. There's no question.
00:52You know, talking about the loss of my son, talking about my military service, working
00:56with the CIA and working with the government and all these things. You know, it's a lot
01:00of personal stuff. It's a story that needed to be told. And, you know, it's so hard to
01:04encapsulate it into even an album. So writing it on pages for everybody to share. Awesome.
01:10I want to talk, though, Enlisted EP. Are you kidding me? Thank you. Good. Yeah.
01:15Oh, are you kidding? It's amazing. And not only are you making great music, you're bringing
01:21in amazing artists to come along to the journey with you. I mean, you've got Jelly Roll, Lainey
01:25Wilson. Tell us a little bit about the collaboration. So it's calls you're making to the artists.
01:30Do you remember anyone specifically being like, hey, Jelly, what's going on? You want to be
01:34on this?
01:35I love every one of them. I can tell you my conversation. Yes.
01:38That's so special.
01:39But these are my friends, man. Yeah.
01:41You know, it's so funny because I didn't realize the magnitude. They're rapping us. I'm
01:44not rapping yet.
01:44Oh, I know.
01:45You're the best.
01:47They, they, they, I didn't understand the magnitude of where these people are.
01:53Yeah.
01:53Because I'm, I'm so close. It's kind of like, and I don't want, I don't want to miss it,
01:58miss like this. It's kind of like having a child and you watched your child grow every
02:03day. So you don't notice the spurts.
02:06Totally.
02:06But someone who comes into the home, hasn't seen them in a year goes, holy cow, they've
02:11exploded. You know, they've grown up. That's where they're at. I've never, I didn't see
02:15it because I'm so close to them.
02:17And you've known them since pretty much they came in.
02:19Right. Since before Laney had a single, since before Luke had a single, you know, as they
02:23were just getting started. Jelly, before, you know, anybody ever heard the name Jelly
02:28Roll.
02:28Yeah.
02:28And when he stood on the stage at the Grand Ole Opry and told that story about Almost
02:31Home, it floored me.
02:33Yeah.
02:33It hammered me. And these are my, these are my friends, Trace Atkins. I mean, I've got more
02:36respect for that guy. He's a true icon in our business.
02:39Yeah.
02:40And for these people to join me on my music is very humbling.
02:43And I think it's humbling for them to, to talk and associate themselves with somebody
02:47who knew them when, so to speak, because now they deal with fans. Oh my gosh, Lady Wilson,
02:52I love you. You're amazing. But they didn't know her when, right? They didn't know her before
02:56the singles. They didn't know her before all of the magic that's happened for her and all
03:00these great artists. Enlisted EP. I'm telling you right now of every EP we've talked about
03:04at the CMAs. Enlisted EP is the one you got to listen to. Okay. Thank you. I appreciate
03:09you, Craig Morgan. Thanks so much for joining us.
03:11Appreciate it, my friend.
