00:00It's Jeff Kirkshen and Justin live from the CMAs and we are with Michael Ray.
00:04No relation to Frank Ray because we just hung out with Frank Ray like a moment ago.
00:07No, he's more lingual than I am.
00:11He did slip into some Spanish.
00:13Yes.
00:14Do you speak any other languages or are you just like me?
00:15Florida mumble.
00:16That's about all I got.
00:17Yeah.
00:18Wait.
00:19Okay.
00:20Question.
00:21Because we've been taking social media videos of people pronouncing different things from
00:22across the country.
00:23Florida mumble.
00:25What's a word or a saying that nobody else would know if you said it?
00:29The thing with Florida is it's like a melting pot of everybody.
00:34Right.
00:35Right.
00:36I'm one of the few people that are born and raised there.
00:39So I'm trying to think.
00:40Mainly the mumble is as you get to talking you just kind of stop moving your lips and really
00:43start sounding like Boomhauer a little bit from King of the Hill.
00:46And then only your family.
00:47What are we doing out here?
00:48Hung a couple beers.
00:49Hung a couple beers in the alleyway.
00:50Having a good time.
00:51Okay.
00:52So normally that comes out when I'm down there and so if I bring any guests with me they're
00:57like, what did you just say?
00:58Excuse me?
00:59Yeah.
01:00Now does it start to definitely fade out when the whiskey comes in too?
01:04Like more quickly?
01:05If there's whiskey or tequila or beer involved?
01:07Oh, does it come out faster?
01:08The mumble just happens immediately.
01:09Oh, by that point I might as well be speaking in Braille.
01:11Yeah.
01:12Nobody understands what I'm saying.
01:13Well, we have a lot of friends in Tampa who, you know, at our station QIK who might
01:18say the same thing.
01:19They might say the Florida mumble.
01:20It's real.
01:21Yeah.
01:22They've interviewed me so they've heard it.
01:23I'm sure.
01:24So new singles out and before we got on you said you've been chewing your nails.
01:28Are you really that nervous when you release them out?
01:29No, man.
01:30No.
01:31I was joking, man.
01:32You know, honestly, I'm probably the least nervous I've ever been with this record.
01:36Yeah.
01:37I think when you really tap into who you are and you really just kind of get that, you
01:42find that sound that you've been looking for and, you know, sometimes it takes a little
01:45bit and I feel confident in it, you know, and this single, we had the video just premiered
01:50this morning in Times Square at 6 a.m.
01:52Oh, and the big board?
01:53Yeah, man.
01:53That's surreal.
01:54Yeah, yeah.
01:54I figured it'd be a wanted poster, but, you know, but it turns out it's a video for me.
01:58But Megan Patrick's on it and it's been cool.
02:00You know, this is my first duet, you know, out like this and her first single out to American
02:05country radio, she's been crushing it in Canada, so it's been cool.
02:08So you hear the song and I've been trying to describe it to people.
02:11I said haunting.
02:12I don't know if that's the right word.
02:13What is a word that would describe the new single?
02:15Haunting is good.
02:15I think it's a good one.
02:16Yeah, haunting.
02:17And it's the thing, you know, we've all been there where it's like you go through that
02:19phase right after a breakup where you're like, well, I got to get drunk.
02:23And then you do this and everybody does it if you're in this current situation.
02:28However, just know that my grandparents always said if you're drinking for a purpose,
02:32the purpose will come out.
02:33Oh, that's great.
02:34And so, you know, sometimes when you're drinking, those spirits, the demons don't hide, you
02:39know, so.
02:41Preach.
02:42That's my hallelujah.
