00:00It's Jeff Kirkshin, Justin, and Hardy. What's going on, brother?
00:03Living the dream.
00:04Listen, you are one of my favorite songwriters. I mean, an artist, love you.
00:09Songwriter, the thing you've done since the very beginning of your career,
00:12that is just so incredible, the amount of things you've cranked out,
00:14and now you're getting to see the fruits of your labor on the stage, too.
00:18That's pretty sweet, dude.
00:19That's cool, man.
00:19I'm so proud to see how far you've come, but that songwriting is at your core in your heart.
00:24That's something we appreciate a lot.
00:25Yeah, dude, absolutely, man.
00:26I've always, I just said this, but if we don't have the song, we don't have any of this.
00:33Very true.
00:34It's literally, it starts with the song, and that's how important it is.
00:37So I'm really thankful for that and that I have my songwriting foundation before anything else.
00:45So I'm someone who fronts the back albums, Mockingbird and the Crow.
00:48I'm front and back it.
00:49In the middle, there's that shift.
00:51When you went into doing the album, where you're like, I want that shift in the middle,
00:55or it was like a natural progression.
00:57That was the last song we wrote for the record.
00:58It was on the bus, right?
00:59Yeah, it was the last song.
01:01Really?
01:01So we had all the other, and I knew it was going to be a double album,
01:04but it's a crazy story.
01:09But I had this title called The Mockingbird and the Crow on my phone as an idea,
01:13and it didn't even hit me until that day, and I was like, I have the perfect song to put a bow on this record,
01:22and I was like, I didn't even realize it.
01:23So we wrote that song and then put it right in the middle, and it was an accident, but it worked out.
01:28It's a great accident.
01:29Yeah.
01:29I just want to say real quick to you, thank you for speaking out about mental health.
01:35I think it's so important to hear that our heroes, our stars, these people we hold up on a pedestal on a stage
01:41also have struggles like you, me, and everybody else.
01:43So just thank you for that.
01:45Yeah, absolutely, man.
01:45Because it means a lot, and people see through the glitz and the glitter and all that stuff
01:50to get to know Hardy a little bit more.
01:52You're performing CMAs with Morgan Wallen and Post Malone.
01:56Yeah.
01:57This is pretty cool, right?
01:59Yeah.
01:59Do you have a Post Malone song that you love?
02:02Is there one that you love the most?
02:04I love them all, but yeah.
02:06It's tough, dude.
02:07There's so many good tracks.
02:09It was between Sunflower and Congratulations, and if it was like a deep cut, it would be
02:13Take What You Want, It's Really Good.
02:15Well, you always have music going through your head, so we'll excuse you this time.
02:19Constantly, yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:19Don't worry.
02:20We love Hardy.
02:21We love your performance.
02:22We can't wait to see it coming up at the CMAs.
