00:10All right, it is Military Monday. We have Charlotte on the phone.
00:13She is honoring her husband, Reuben, today.
00:15Good morning, Charlotte. How are you?
00:17Good morning. I'm good. How are you all?
00:19We are doing great. We are glad you're on the show.
00:21And we want to talk about Reuben.
00:23Why don't you give us a little background about how he serves our country?
00:26Sure. Thank you for having me.
00:27My husband, Reuben, is in the Army.
00:30He's working on his 18th year right now.
00:32Wow.
00:33He's currently serving as the station commander at the Wesley Chapel Recruiting Office,
00:38where he oversees day-to-day operations for recruiting.
00:42Okay, cool. And when he first went into the military, what were some of his interests?
00:45What did he go in to do?
00:47Sure. When he first started, he was originally a 42 Alpha, which is a human resource specialist.
00:53Okay.
00:53So he did paperwork for the Army.
00:56And from there, he served three tours overseas, supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom to Iraq and Afghanistan twice.
01:08Wow. Well, we're so thankful for that.
01:11Charlotte, I don't want you to speak for him, but what do you think he, now that he works at the recruiting office and he leads the recruiting office in Wesley Chapel,
01:18what are some of the things you think he tells Army recruits as they are showing interest in joining the Army?
01:24Like, what are some important things you think he tells them?
01:26Sure. So I know firsthand, because we both actually serve. I'm in the Air Force.
01:30Hey! Charlotte, thank you.
01:34Yeah, no problem. But one thing we really talk about just as a family unit is, to be honest, you know, it's hard to get the truth out.
01:41And, you know, getting our truth out and how the military has just been a great resource for us in this almost 18 years.
01:49What keeps you guys doing this? Like, what is the passion that drives you?
01:54For myself, it's the people, to help the people. Just like I said, because resources aren't always there.
02:01And for my husband, I think it's really the same. We both just enjoy helping.
02:05And what keeps the peace at home? Because we have the Air Force and we have the Army, Charlotte.
02:11What do we do at home just to make sure that we're okay? Everybody's on the same side here.
02:15So honestly, I'm a reservist in the Air Force, so I'm only part-time.
02:19So I support my husband 100%. Like, if you ever come to our house and you see Army this and Army that, it's just like I kind of switch sides.
02:30I'm just giving you a hard time. I know you're very supportive of him. Obviously, you're nominating him today for Military Monday.
02:36Yes.
02:36Well, you know, May is Military Appreciation Month, so thank you, Charlotte, for doing this.
02:42And it was nice to get to know Ruben a little bit and hear about him and how he serves our country.
