Iraq War Veteran Honored By His Wife Grace

00:10All right, Military Monday, we got Grace on the phone who is honoring her husband, Jay.

00:14Good morning, Grace. How you doing?

00:16Good morning. Doing good.

00:17Awesome. So let's talk about Jay. Tell us about how he serves our country.

00:22Yep. He joined when he was 18 back in 2008.

00:26Okay. And he was in the Army for a total of six years.

00:31He did one year in Iraq in 2009.

00:35We actually got married during his two-week leave that they get during that year.

00:41Yep. So we've been married, I think, almost 15 years now since 2009.

00:47Let's go back to that time when you got married on that two-week leave.

00:50Like, how was that? I mean, I know you were excited to get married, but what were those feelings like?

00:53Yes, definitely happy to see him. It felt like two days instead of two weeks.

01:00Right.

01:00We made sure to have a lot of fun and go to, you know, Busch Gardens and such on his vacation.

01:07Well, I'm glad you guys got some time to celebrate a little bit.

01:10So tell me about Jay now. Is he still in the Army, or what is he doing?

01:14Now he is in Human Resources, which is the same thing he did in the Army.

01:18Okay.

01:19And so he's been doing that for a long time, and he plans on getting a bachelor's in the near future.

01:25That's great.

01:25Well, listen, we are so glad that we got to learn about Jay and Grace.

01:29It sounds like you've made a lot of sacrifices as well, and we are so thankful for you

01:33and all the things you both have done for our country.
