00:00Tampa Bay's morning crew want to honor and thank those who protect and serve our country.
00:05Time now for Military Monday on 99.5 QYK.
00:10It is Military Monday. We got Jennifer on the phone who is honoring her son, William.
00:14Good morning, Jennifer. How are you?
00:16Good. I'm great. How are you?
00:18Good. So we're glad you reached out. Tell us about William and his service to our country.
00:23So he was in the Air Force for seven years.
00:25He had three deployments, and he medically retired last year.
00:30Okay. Wow.
00:31And it looks like he traveled quite a bit for his deployments.
00:34Yeah, nine countries. Yeah.
00:35Wow.
00:36Wow. And he also won an award, right?
00:39He won multiple awards, actually.
00:41He flew a flag in my honor. I think it was over Iran.
00:45There was a military operation, and he flew it in honor.
00:48They fly it in honor of somebody, and then you get the flag that's with a certificate from the Air Force.
00:52And then he also won Airman of the Year twice, two years in a row.
00:57He's won multiple accommodations and just, you know, some awards and some medals.
01:01And they wanted him to stay in the service, actually, because he was so good at what he did.
01:06He was in special ops, and he was a staff sergeant.
01:09There is a lot to be proud of, Mom.
01:11I mean, your son...
01:12Yeah, absolutely.
01:13And he's as good of a human being as he was a serviceman.
01:16I was just going to ask you, what is the one thing that you are most proud of, of him?
01:21You know, it would fall back to my mom.
01:23When my mom was alive, she had Alzheimer's.
01:25And my son, basically, he was young, too.
01:27And he just took her under his wing, and he made sure that he was always by her side and helping her,
01:32because she ended up having a really bad fall, and so she was paralyzed on one side.
01:36And, you know, his just interaction and love with my mom was just something that I will never forget.
01:41And, you know, even as a young boy, he was just very in tune to, you know, compassion and empathy,
01:48and I'm just so proud of him for that.
01:51Very nice.
01:52What are some things that William likes to do when he's not serving our country and not working?
01:57He likes to work out, so he's pretty regimented on, you know, his physical health as well as his mental health.
02:03And that's so important for our service members.
02:05You know, PTSD is such a large problem, you know, and I'm just so happy that he's in a good place.
02:11Absolutely.
02:13Well, God bless him, and here's the deal.
02:15We are so thankful for William's service and what he's done for our country.
02:18We want to do this.
02:19We want to give you a $100 Visa gift card from Stingray Chevrolet to pass on to him.
02:23It's a small way for us to say thank you, Jennifer.
02:25Oh, that is amazing.
02:27Thank you so, so much.
02:28Yes, our pleasure.
02:29And make sure to pass on our love and our thanks to him, okay?
02:33I will do that.
02:33Thank you so much.
02:34Well, those are the stories we love hearing.
02:36We love learning about our service men and women, and we want to learn about that person in your life for Military Monday.
