00:11Well, a very special first responder Friday today.
00:14We have actually Christina on the phone who is honoring her husband who has served for our country in the military and also now serves as a first responder.
00:21Wow.
00:22And this weekend on Sunday being 9-11.
00:24I feel like this is a perfect person to have and to honor.
00:27So good morning, Christina.

00:29I'm great.

00:31We are so excited to learn about Matt.
00:34Let's talk about his military service first.
00:36Tell us about that.
00:37Yes.
00:38He actually started off in the Marines.
00:40He served in Iraq.
00:42Oh, wow.
00:42And then shortly after that, he joined the Memphis Police Department before we transferred down here to Tampa.
00:49Wow.
00:50Now he's with Tampa PD?
00:51Yes.
00:52Okay.
00:52And he just got out the Air Force Reserve.
00:54So he got back from deployment in January and then had a month off and went right back to Tampa PD.
01:00I mean, a lot of serving going on, and we are so thankful for that.
01:04I mean, we can't help but think about all the sacrifices he's made.
01:06And I know that he probably would not take any of that credit, nor would the service men and women that have served beside him.
01:11But, Christina, I got to ask you, I mean, this weekend, being 9-11, it's got to be kind of an extra special weekend for him, huh?
01:18It is.
01:19He always sits down with our eldest son and tells him all about 9-11 and how that inspired him to serve and just, like, really putting that meaning on to what 9-11's all about and how it still affects us today.
01:34I love that he does this because it's the 21st anniversary of 9-11 this year.
01:40You know, a lot of the kids, they obviously weren't around when this is happening.
01:43So the fact that your husband sits down with your kids and says, this is why we're talking about this day and this is why these pictures are on the television and you're seeing, you know, people talk about this stuff.
01:53I love that he does it.
01:54He sounds like a great dad.
01:55How many kids do you guys have?
01:57We have two.
01:59And how old are they?
02:00Five and nine.
02:01So you are a busy mom, for sure.
02:04Yes.
02:06Now, you said that he's a great dad, but I want to know what he's like as a husband.
02:10I mean, how has some of his, I guess, what he's learned in the military and, you know, in law enforcement, how does that kind of carry over to your guys' relationship?
02:19Oh, my goodness.
02:20So I have a mini farm and I'm bringing home a peacock he doesn't know about.
02:24Wait, you have a peacock in the back of your car right now?
02:30Yes, I have a peacock in the back of my car that's coming home to our pigs and chickens.
02:34And, but he's so loving and it's crazy for the amount that he works that he still spends time with me and the kids and takes me on dates and makes sure that I get a girl's night so that I can talk to other grown-ups.
02:51Instead of peacocks all day.
02:53Yeah, or you get some time to go pick up a peacock here and there.
02:56Where does one buy a peacock from?
02:58I got it from a friend who is house-sitting a peacock and the owner realized she couldn't take care of it.

03:13Oh, her name is Pip.
03:14It was Pip Squeak, but we're going to shorten it to Pip.

03:22And we've derailed this conversation, but we're so glad we know this information.
03:25And how do you think Matt's going to respond to this?

03:29He'll probably just nod and go, what are we going to do with this?

03:33And I'm going to say, don't worry about it.
03:36I'll take care of it.
03:37Well, you said he loves animals here in the bio.
03:40Yeah, he's going to love them.
03:42Yes.
03:43He'll act like he doesn't, and then I'll find him outside, like, petting and feeding him.

03:49I don't know why this is here.
03:50And then you look out, he's feeding it blueberries.
03:52You know, one thing about the guys that are first responders and guys that have served in our military,
03:57you know, they have to act like they're such tough guys on the outside.
03:59But, you know, they are softies on the inside for sure.

04:04My husband is 6'4 and very broad-shouldered and, like, can look menacing.
04:10But people don't know, he's the biggest goofball ever.
04:13Yeah.
04:13Yeah, absolutely.
04:15Well, these servicemen and women are amazing in what they do and what they sacrifice
04:19and what they've been through.
04:21And then, obviously, you know, someone like your husband coming back and then serving stateside
04:25as a police officer and, for now, two different police departments.
04:29Pretty amazing, Christina.
04:30We are so honored to be able to learn about him, obviously, this weekend being a very special
04:36weekend for first responders and the military.
04:39So, please, not only tell him thank you for his service now, but what he's done in the past
04:43and as we honor all first responders and military this weekend, we are just so grateful for Matt.
