00:10All right, we've got Misty on the phone for Military Monday.
00:12We're going to talk to her about her boyfriend, Alex.
00:14Good morning, Misty. How are you?
00:16Good, thank you. Good morning.
00:18Well, first of all, how long have you been dating your boyfriend?
00:20A little over a year.
00:21All right, very nice.
00:22Now, I'm sure when you dated him, you get to learn about his service.
00:25So tell us about his service in the Air Force.
00:28He went in in 91 to 97.
00:33He was active duty.
00:34And then from, I think it was 98 to 2002, 2003, he was in reserve.
00:40Okay.
00:40And then after that, he went on the GI Bill at the University of South Carolina and got his business degree.
00:48Oh, wow.
00:49What does he do now?
00:50He was working at the Veterans Affairs, helping other veterans get their benefits when they come back home.
00:56So he did that for a little over almost 19 years, and then he just retired last year.
01:02Oh, my gosh.
01:02What a great thing to do.
01:04Lucky man. He's retired already.
01:05Yeah, congratulations to him, by the way, for retiring and also just doing something amazing to give back and understanding that veterans are going to need veterans.
01:12That's for sure.
01:13Absolutely.
01:13So he served in the Gulf War, huh?
01:16Yep.
01:16He was in the Gulf War, the whole desert storm.
01:19He was on the ground for quite some time over there.
01:22Mainly, he was the Staff Sergeant Crew Chief for the F-16.
01:26He did the repairs on the planes.
01:28You know, Misty, obviously, respectfully, you have probably heard some stories and maybe probably not everything that he saw over there.
01:35But from what you gathered and what you've heard from him, like, what is something that you gathered about him as a person?
01:41What have you learned about him with the information and the stories you have heard about his service?
01:46Well, he definitely has a big heart, and that's why he wanted to get back into the veterans, because a lot of his buddies that he served with came back, and not just physically, but also mentally.
01:57And, you know, they need their benefits, too, and it's so hard to get them nowadays.
02:01So that's when he thought when he gets out, he wants to go ahead and give back to his fellow service.
02:08Native women, yeah.
02:10That's great.
02:10All right, so when he's not serving and it's just you guys hanging out, what do you guys like to do?
02:14We like to go to concerts and hang out at the beach, and sometimes being at home away from people isn't too bad.
02:22He's telling me now.
02:23Yeah.
02:25Sometimes it's just nice to relax and chill.
02:27Yeah, to relax and chill.
02:30Well, listen, Misty, we want to do this for you.
02:32We're so thankful for Alex's service, and we hope you pass our love and our thanks on to him.
