00:00Let's play Plead the Fifth with Orlando and the Freak Show on Wild 94.1.
00:15Now, who's taking the stand?
00:17The round brown guy, it is Orlando.
00:20Ready to take the stand. I'm being sworn in.
00:23I got three questions that come from the room and three questions that come from you.
00:28888-429-0941. Call or text. We got you.
00:31I'm shut down over here, so I'm in the dark. I can't see any of the queries.
00:36There's a lot of them.
00:37We start in clockwise motion. Davi goes first.
00:41So, basically, I want to know about some wild splash behind the scenes.
00:45Specifically, what really piques my interest more is about the baby.
00:49Because I assume you were like the point of contact that the label and everybody would probably be hitting up
00:56and talking about why this man is two-plus hours late.
01:01But any behind-the-scenes kind of, you know, pull the curtain back on some wild splash?
01:07Okay. Let's see.
01:09In short, when we book shows, you can book shows with a wage.
01:14Like, say, if I want Davi to perform, I can get it.
01:17Oh, it's going to cost you.
01:17It's going to cost you.
01:19So, if I want Davi to perform, I can set it up two ways.
01:21I can do a number where I give you a fee, and then I handle all of your flight, your room, your back line, everything else.
01:27Then that means the onus is on me to get you here.
01:30Or I can give you an all-in number, which is a little higher, and I say, here's your rate, and here's your money for travel,
01:37and here's your money for your hotel.
01:38So, all of this number is going together.
01:40You figure it out.
01:41Well, that's what we did because a lot of our artists would miss flights,
01:45and then we would get a phone call having to switch their flights, and we're like, listen, we'll leave it with you.
01:49We gave him an all-in number.
01:51He chose to fly private.
01:53Now, if your set starts at 6, you might want to be on the private plane by 4, maybe by 5.
01:59Latest.
02:00He got on his private plane leaving Atlanta at 6.20.
02:03And he was supposed to be on stage?
02:04He was supposed to be on stage at 6.
02:07Wow.
02:07He landed at 7.24.
02:10Oh, my gosh.
02:11At Albert Whitted Airport?
02:12No, no, no, no, at TPA because the plane that he had wasn't rated with the size that they need
02:20because they only do Cessnas and very small planes at Albert Whitted Park.
02:23So, we had to get him from point A to point B from TPA to Albert Whitted Park fast enough to get on stage.
02:32And while that conversation was happening, I'm back there with the police force because our cutoff was supposed to be at 7.30.
02:39With him landing at 7.24, he now had six men.
02:42Oh, geez.
02:43So, they were like, all right, we're giving you until 8 o'clock.
02:46And there was a lot of debate back and forth.
02:51He ended up getting the – they worked really closely with us.
02:54And, honestly, I got to shout out the police department, Chief Holloway, Major Mac, everybody who pretty much gave in on their beliefs and let us go to 8.30.
03:04His name is Major Mac.
03:06That's a badass name.
03:07That is a badass name.
03:09Major Mac.
03:10Major Mac was on site because Chief Holloway was on vacation.
03:13He's like, you know I'm going to get a call on Monday morning.
03:16Why are y'all still out here doing the hippie cop?
03:18You know, so, yeah.
03:20Two more real quick follow-up questions.
03:22Jesus.
03:23How long was his set supposed to be compared to what it ended up being?
03:26And does he get his pay docked for only doing –
03:30That's Buck's question.
03:31Oh, that was your question?
03:32But it's all good.
03:33Go.
03:33I got another one.
03:33Well, we can just – we'll move it on over.
03:35I mean, Dobby gets three questions.
03:36All right, all right.
03:37What was his – he was supposed to be an hour.
03:39Yeah.
03:40Supposed to go on at 6, be done at 7.
03:41Okay.
03:42That's why we put all of the times up so everybody can know when people were going to perform.
03:46And the other thing was –
03:47But how long did he end up doing?
03:48He ended up doing 8 o'clock till 8.30.
03:51Okay.
03:52And the police cut him off exactly at 8.30.
03:54So, have to show half the money?
03:55They told – absolutely.
03:57Because, I mean, we – his rate, we were supposed to – we sent him 50% ahead of time.
04:01Like, any performance, we do that.
04:03And then on the day of show, they either get it or it's mailed out to them.
04:07We were supposed to forward them a check today for the second half.
04:11And that half will be cut in half.
04:13Do you think you're going to hear anything back?
04:15I think we will.
04:16Yeah, absolutely.
04:16And I'm totally ready for that smoke.
04:18Yeah.
04:18Oh.
04:19You can't do half your job and get your whole pay.
04:22You think he'll expect full pay?
04:24I believe he will because we've seen him not be exactly the most clear-headed person about a lot of things.
04:30And, again, we were –
04:31But I'm not scared of the baby.
04:32I'm back in my office now.
04:33Our door is locked.
04:35We got security.
04:36I'm fine.
04:37You got to spend more money to come get me, dog.
04:39So, y'all –
04:40And if you're coming to shoot me, you might come late because apparently you don't understand timing.
04:45We were supposed to be wrapped by 7, correct?
04:47We were supposed to be done by 7.
04:48Okay.
04:48And so the lighting – I mean, police have to deal with a lot.
04:51They're like, you have 6,500 folks out here.
04:55When it gets dark, there ain't lights up around here to get all these people out of here.
04:59We're not prepared for that.
05:00We don't want that.
05:01And we wanted everybody safe, too, so it worked out.
05:05But the police were tremendously helpful with that because his manager was backstage, like, dealing with the whole thing.
05:11And you could tell he had dealt with this hundreds of times because he had every answer.
05:15And they were like, I bet you deal with this a lot.
05:17He's like, yeah.
05:18So the manager came beforehand?
05:19Yeah.
05:20The manager was there.
05:20He was walking around.
05:21Everyone was like, oh, he's here.
05:23And I was like –
05:23The manager was there at 4.30.
05:25Just like the backup dancers.
05:26Yeah.
05:26Arnold was walking around like, yo, man, here's what we got going on.
05:29Blah, blah, blah.
05:29He'll be here.
05:30Blah, blah, blah.
05:30And I'm like, mm-hmm.
05:31Well, backstage, everybody thought that he was already there.
05:33And I was like, no, no, no.
05:34DaBaby's not here.
05:34No, he's not.
05:35Just because management is here doesn't mean he's here.
05:37Yeah.
05:37So that was the deal with that.
05:39All right.
05:40You're next.
05:40All right.
05:40So you had –
05:41Sorry about that.
05:42No, you had part of my question, but I'm going to flip it a little bit.
05:44Okay.
05:44On the positive side, what was the biggest surprise of Wild Splash that you actually couldn't believe?
05:50Like, it was very nice.
05:52I mean, the venue, honestly, once it got – you know, everybody got in and stuff.
05:57And when you started walking around, like, if you came in back by the dolly
06:00and just looking at all that water and all of the people, it was just – it was a sexy look.
06:05Yeah, it did.
06:05But the other surprises were just – I mean, I was surprised that when we put certain things together
06:14or stuff, we hope things happen.
06:16Like, we'll put different people on the lineup and then be like, man, I hope they do something together.
06:21Like, Blast was coming.
06:22And then so Buddy, you know, was, like, trying to get on the lineup so he could pop out and do a song,
06:27his song with Blast.
06:28So we never know how those things are going to maneuver.
06:30And when we put L.A. the GOAT on, I just knew that him and Chris and everybody else
06:35was going to try and do something for the city and just do something for, like, artists
06:39to just touch – to be able to touch the stage.
06:42And yesterday, a lot of people spoke to the fact that that L.A. the GOAT, Tom G, Buck, Sosa,
06:48Priceless Scott, you know, a whole thing with Bust to Bust.
06:51I mean, just that whole thing kind of made – that was their day.
06:54They said, yo, I love DaBaby, I love Lotto, but that Tampa set is always something that,
07:00you know, makes them excited.
07:02And it made me excited because they got a chance to use our stage to touch the city
07:06and do something in a major way.
07:08So I did like that.
07:09Nice.
07:09Yeah.
07:10All right.
07:10I want to know about some more drama.
07:12Enough with the good stuff.
07:13Okay.
07:13Okay.
07:14So you explained the whole DaBaby situation.
07:17That sounds like a mess.
07:18And especially since you had to deal with it.
07:20I'm sure some other things happened backstage.
07:23Can you give me anything else, one or two things, any other drama,
07:28any other situations that you kind of – the fires that you had to put out,
07:31whether it was from the artists or whatever?
07:33I mean, honestly, it wasn't a lot of drama going on back there.
07:39I mean, there was somebody who got caught in one – because we had dressing rooms
07:43that were RVs.
07:44Yeah.
07:44And the baby's dressing room really wasn't used too much except when the management
07:49got there.
07:50But when they got there, somebody – let's just – and I don't think – it wasn't
07:54our staff.
07:55But somebody who was a staff participant back there, either a volunteer or of the city
08:00or something, was smashing in one of the RVs.
08:03Oh.
08:04They had made their way into an RV and was just in there cutting.
08:07And so somebody went in there to check to make sure that all of the stuff was ready
08:11because they thought the baby was on the way.
08:13And they went in there, and they was full on into the monkey.
08:15Oh, man.
08:17Yeah.
08:17The RV was rocking.
08:18It was rocking.
08:20It was rocking.
08:21Yeah.
08:21I think they got asked to leave.
08:22Well, that makes sense.
08:24Yeah.
08:24After they finish.
08:25Yeah.
08:26I'm going to let you finish.
08:27But –
08:27All right.
08:27So that is three questions from the room.
08:30I have three questions from you.
08:32Plead the fifth action.
08:34You ask.
08:35I answer.
08:35I still get to skip one, and I got a boomerang going back.
08:38So 888-429-0941.
08:41You can crawl in on that next.
08:42Let's go.
08:43Yeah.
08:43Big shout-out to Jazzy's Barbecue on Good Morning America for the barbecue battle up
08:49there.
08:49And we're getting hungry.
08:51Yes.
08:51Yeah.
08:52So Buck might have to make a call and get us some action.
08:55All right.
08:55So we've gotten three questions, Wild Splash kind of related, all of the info on the baby
09:03and why he was late and why we personally hate him.
09:07We don't know why he was late, by the way.
09:09Listen, who cares?
09:10I mean, he did his thing or whatever, but it was a mess.
09:14So the baby question, your question was –
09:19Highs and lows.
09:19The highlight.
09:20I wanted to know, like, the really good thing.
09:22Yeah, highlight.
09:22We talked about the Tampa set.
09:24Extra drama for me.
09:25Extra drama, the two people hunching in the RV.
09:28Makes sense.
09:29And so now we got questions from the audience.
09:31Yes.
09:31Let's see what we got.
09:32This one's from Nancy in Apollo Beach.
09:34I would like to ask Orlando a little bit about DaBaby because while we were waiting,
09:39you went up on stage saying that you were going to throw water into the crowd and I didn't
09:45see you come back.
09:46Can you please explain the whole water situation at Wild Splash?
09:49Um, okay.
09:52When I went out there to make the announcement, people started saying, we need water, we need
09:56water.
09:57And I was like, yeah, we can easily do that.
09:59Because that was an easy fix.
10:00I'm like, I'm out here telling y'all the baby just landed.
10:02We're getting him here in, like, 20 minutes or so.
10:05And they were like, okay, but can we get water?
10:07So I come off the stage, uh, and I found out that there was no water because it's two
10:12hour extension.
10:13We were past our time.
10:14They had basically said, okay, we need enough to get through this certain time.
10:18We're out of water.
10:19So I go back there.
10:20I give my credit card to Darian.
10:22She takes off to go buy water from CVS and buys a bunch of water, brings it back.
10:29While they do that, I'm back there with the police trying to get us extra time because
10:33he's not going to be there in time.
10:35So I got pulled away to go deal with that when I came back to the stage, there's a bunch
10:40of cases of water back there and the baby's running on stage.
10:43There you go.
10:43So it was kind of like, so I, whoever left the park with a lot of water left with my
10:48water.
10:49I got the receipt and I got my credit card back and the baby ran up on stage.
10:53So it, you know, that's just where it was.
10:56So I would, that's, it's a lot of juggling during that kind of stuff where you're stretching.
11:00I mean, we had one area where somebody was late and, you know, a young dread and Richie
11:05were able to jump up and go up and perform, you know, because see nasty had their music
11:10queued up.
11:11So they helped us, you know, kind of like fill some voids and stuff too.
11:14So it's all the juggling match.
11:15If I'm out there saying, Hey, I'll throw out water.
11:19Like, please believe.
11:20I ran back there.
11:21It was like, yo, there's no water.
11:22What do you mean?
11:23There's no water.
11:23I'm like, well, give us some warm water.
11:25Where's the water?
11:25And they, they didn't have any more.
11:27Hey, we noticed there was a lot of people backstage who might not should have been backstage.
11:32So we had a lot of extra people tapping into our resources.
11:35Oh, it was all kinds.
11:36I saw all kinds of people back there.
11:38I was like, and I ain't even, I mean, that was the one thing.
11:41It was a lot harder to keep that backstage like tight because people were sliding through.
11:46I'm like, I ain't even see badges on people.
11:48I'm like, are you?
11:49More so than ever.
11:50Yeah.
11:50I was bumping into people.
11:51Like I bumped into my Barbara Kim.
11:53I'm like, hey, what you doing?
11:54She's like, yo, I'm over here, dog.
11:56It's all good.
11:56I'm like, ain't you supposed to be over there?
11:58So yeah, it was, it was wiggle room in there.
12:00We got a text out the 813.
12:02It says, Orlando, I'm getting weight loss surgery later this summer.
12:05I'm wondering, will I see an increase in my package?
12:09Did you notice an increase after you have all this weight loss?
12:15Well, it's like a car mirror.
12:19Things appear bigger.
12:20No, I mean, here's the deal.
12:22When you lose weight, it doesn't get bigger, but it just clears away the hedges.
12:28So like, for instance, if you have extra weight, your thighs are thicker and your stomach is bigger.
12:33But when you start to remove all that stuff, everything else that's there is a little bit more pronounced now.
12:39So you do end up being blessed.
12:43When you take, they say every like 50 pounds is like another inch.
12:46Whoa.
12:47And ladies, are we taking notes right now?
12:49Yeah, I mean, it is true.
12:50So I lost 157 pounds.
12:53So do the math.
12:54Oh, oh.
12:55We got calls over here.
12:59We'll be people on hold.
13:00Yeah.
13:00You want me to answer?
13:01I don't know any names because they're all shut down.
13:03Jeremy is online too, I believe.
13:05Yes.
13:05Jeremy got a question for me.
13:07What's going on?
13:08Hey, Orlando.
13:09My question is, of all of the people you've ever seen perform at Wild Splash, who would
13:17you not want to see perform again, either based on drama or based on their demeanor on
13:21stage?
13:23I mean, if I had to pick one, it would probably be Kevin Gates because when Kevin Gates performed,
13:31it was like a brawl that broke out.
13:33So it was really about a security team, but they just went, you know, a little bit too aggressive
13:38with our team.
13:38And ended up like, you know, putting hands on our production guy who was out there doing
13:43his job, but they were like, don't come across the stage.
13:46He's like, dude, I'm the one who's controlling the microphones.
13:48I got to be out here.
13:49And he did it again.
13:50And they just jumped him.
13:52And I was just like, yeah, we won't play that game anymore.
13:55So, and we've sat down with our guy and he's like, as we were looking at artists, somebody
14:00mentioned his name and he just looked at me.
14:02I'm like, nope, we're not going there.
14:03And he feels more comfortable that we got his back and won't be bringing back somebody who
14:08makes that kind of decision.
14:09So that probably was the person that, and I love, you know, the new song you got, but
14:13I'm like, yo, we just can't do it because he kind of broke that trust.
14:18Dang.
14:18Yeah.
14:19So I appreciate the question, man.
14:22Thank you very much.
14:23All right.
14:23Let's see.
14:24That's a, I mean, there's somebody else on hold over here.
14:26That's a wrap.
14:27No, you're good.
14:29All right.
14:29Because that's the third one.
14:30That's the third one.
14:30Any boomerangs?
14:31All right.
14:34What was your highlight of Wild Splash?
14:36Okay.
14:36Or what was your most memorable, what'd you ask?
14:40Like, what was the shocking, most shocking revelation about Wild Splash?
14:45Okay.
14:45I got one.
14:46The most shocking thing that happened, Babs and I were up on stage so excited to see
14:51Lotto hit the stage and she killed it.
14:52Right.
14:53And yeah, had the whole crowd up and I knew for a fact, because you had mentioned this,
14:58that she was heading on out real quick to go to the Billboard Awards because she was
15:01performing.
15:02Anyway, so at the end of her set, we knew like that was her last song.
15:05So Babs and I run off stage because we were on stage and we find her as she's running out
15:10with her team and we're like, hey, can we just get one picture?
15:12She's about to get on the sprinter and go to the airport.
15:14And we're like, hey, can we please just get one picture, blah, blah, blah.
15:17And her team looks at us and she looks at us and her team goes, that'll be $200 if
15:22you want a picture.
15:24$200 for a picture with Lotto.
15:25What do you mean?
15:26Like $200 in cash?
15:27Are you supposed to cash app it?
15:29I didn't ask.
15:29How did you?
15:31She was still walking.
15:32Y'all didn't pay it?
15:33No.
15:34No.
15:34I wonder would they have taken it?
15:37Probably cash.
15:38I'm assuming.
15:39$200?
15:39Yeah.
15:40For a picture?
15:41So we didn't get a picture.
15:42That's wild.
15:43I've never heard of somebody taxing at our show for a picture.
15:47Yeah, that's what happened.
15:48Was that like a maybe it was a lot of people around?
15:50No.
15:50You got one, everybody would have wanted one, so they shut you down with the $200?
15:53I thought so, but really there was, it's kind of me making an excuse.
15:56There was literally nobody else around besides me.
15:58And that's because we knew, we saw the sprinter, we knew where she was walking off, over to
16:02the side, and we were right there.
16:03And yeah, they were charging like $200 for photos.
16:06Oh, man.
16:06That's so disappointing.
16:07Yeah.
16:08That's kind of nasty.
16:09Yeah.
16:09That's kind of nasty.
16:10And then we, you know, blink, and then they're still walking, and then they left.
16:14I was like, okay.
16:14Okay.
16:15Wow.
16:15For me, on a positive note, when Hot Boy took the stage, I felt like the whole mood changed.
16:21I felt like he brought it, you know?
16:23Oh, he did.
16:23He did.
16:24As soon as he hit, I was like, oh, okay, it's go time now.
16:27Yeah.
16:27And then kind of a negative thing was when L.A. the Goat came on, I was on stage doing
16:32some photos, and I didn't know he was going to bring all the Tampa rappers on stage with
16:36him.
16:36Yeah, he brought everybody up.
16:37So I was on stage doing photos, and I kind of lost some room, and those guys almost pushed
16:42me off the stage.
16:43Oh, damn.
16:44So I had to get up out of there.
16:45He was going to be like, look at Buck crowd surfing.
16:47He was really into this.
16:49For me, so I had to leave Wild Splash early, unfortunately.
16:52So I knew that I wanted to take advantage of every minute I had there.
16:57So I did a lot of time in the crowd, meeting listeners, meeting the people that came through.
17:03Did you see David from Arcadia?
17:04I did, yeah.
17:05A couple times, you, O, and Stiffy were pointing me in the direction of people that I should
17:11go talk to, people that I should go meet.
17:13I saw my boy Tondrick out there in the crowd.
17:15So for me, it was just like walking around in the general population, you know, in the
17:21general admission area, and just flicking it up with the people that came out.
17:26Davi just had a prison reference, right?
17:27Remember that?
17:28Gin pop.
17:28He said gin pop.
17:30I know somebody driving was like, just say he walked around gin pop.
17:36Davi is a G.
17:38Who are you hanging out with, ladies?
17:39Davi is a G.
17:40Wow.
17:41Just bread and water around this boy.
17:43All right, that is a wrap with Orlando and the Freak Show.
