00:00The first images of Tahavur Rana's handover to the NIA by the United States of America.
00:07That's the first visual on your screen, the first time USA when it handed over the authorities,
00:13that Tahavur Rana was handed over by American authorities to the National Investigation Agency and to Indian authorities.
00:19Remember that this was, that is the moment when officially it was announced that no more is he with and in the prisons in the USA.
00:28That's the image on your screen, US Marshals, this is the Central District of California.
00:33When they transferred the custody of Tahavur Rana, a Pakistani origin, Canadian citizen,
00:40had been in the custody in the United States of America, but after a full-on legal work that was done,
00:46political will, diplomacy, all of that was put to work and now to representatives of India's Ministry of External Affairs
00:54and eventually of course the NIA authorities.
00:56So that's the first visual on your screen.
00:58Remember security protocols being followed, that's the reason you see the image like that on your screen.
01:03You can see US Marshals on one side, Indian authorities and the MEA representatives on another,
01:09a full-on security cordon.
01:10The USA also realizing that this man has grievous charges.
01:14The first image of Tahavur Rana, look at that.
01:16From the back, just like we had the image when he arrived on the Indian soil,
01:21the image of now 64-year-old Pakistani origin, Canadian citizen in USA's custody,
01:28a full-on legal battle that was fought.
01:29That's the image, being held tight by the American officials
01:33and then he was transferred over to the Indian authorities.
01:37So this transfer in many ways, viewers, remember is the hard work of possibly weeks and months of India
01:45to convince this man had almost got away after having orchestrated the massacre of our innocent people
01:51and foreigners too, in which six Americans were also killed.
01:55That is one of the reasons that USA realizes this man needs to face the law.
02:00There are, of course, specific treaty conditions.
02:02But the first visual on your screen, that before he was put on a flight and dragged to India,
02:09that's Tahavur Rana, casuals, white hair, white beard, being held tight by the police personnel,
02:16by the US officials.
02:17These are the US Marshals in California, the Central District.
02:20And that is when they transferred the custody of Tahavur Rana after US agreed
02:25that via a treaty, he can be extradited and face the law of full-on trial with conditions in India.
02:33But what a moment this has turned out to be for our country,
02:37for especially the officers who had been investigating for years now,
02:42preparing, whether it was the NIA dossier, whether it was the legal work,
02:46the paperwork that had to be done.
02:48Because remember, the allegation was that did India not do enough in 2011
02:53when the court was hearing the matter.
02:55Why couldn't we get him earlier?
02:57It's taken 17 years, but he's here.
03:03Amit Bhardwa joins me for the latest on that.
03:07Amit, so that is the first image on our screen.
03:10And what an image it definitely appears to be.
03:13Two countries deciding to fight global terror together.
03:15All right, Pooja, we are breaking those visuals of Tahavur Rana exclusive on India today.
03:25First images before he was put on the flight to India.
03:30So what you see in these images is that US Marshals officials are right next to Tahavur Rana
03:36and the NIA personnel are also standing with Tahavur Rana.
03:41And these are images which were taken in the USA's Central District of California
03:45before Tahavur Rana was put on to that flight in which the NIA officials,
03:52the NSG personnel brought him back to the country.
03:55So we are breaking those images on India today.
03:58Right now, you can see the kind of security deployment that was done
04:01in the United States as well, in California as well.
04:05And Tahavur Rana has been brought back to India in a similar wardrobe as well.
04:10This is a US clothes that he was wearing, the cell that he must have been in.
04:16So in the similar clothes, he has been brought back to India.
04:20And obviously, for security reasons, we cannot show the images of Tahavur Rana
04:25from the frontal images of Tahavur Rana is not being released by the authorities.
04:29But in these visuals, you can see as to how the US authorities and the Indian personnels,
04:35NIA, NSG, have worked in tandem.
04:37And the US Department of Justice has also issued a statement on the extradition of Tahavur Rana.
04:45But certainly, the United States Department of Justice is also saying as to how Tahavur Rana,
04:5064-year-old Pakistani Canadian, was transported to India and was handed over
04:57to Ministry of External Affairs of India, yes, in California.
05:02So those first images in which we can see the kind of security arrangements that were done
05:06in the United States, California, before he was handed over to the NIA
05:11in order to bring him back to Indian soil.
05:15Pooja.
05:15Remember that the US prison authorities had said,
05:19Rana now in custody of Indian authorities.
05:21That was yesterday.
05:22It was primarily information now.
05:24This is that image that defined it.
05:26Look at that.
05:27Let's explain this image closely to you.
05:28That's the man on your screen, Tahavur Rana.
05:30Again, remember, from the back, security reasons.
05:33There's a reason you do not see the personnel.
05:35You do not see Tahavur Rana.
05:36Needless to explain why.
05:38However, look at the security cordon even in the USA.
05:42The American authorities also realizing the grievous charges against him.
05:46And then a statement came in from the USA, from the White House,
05:49from the spokesperson about how that India and the USA are ready to fight global terror together.
05:55And in many ways, it's a representation, a symbolism of what you see here on your screen.
06:00This now 64-year-old man, who was lost in India in 2008, before 2611, days before 2611,
06:09to orchestrate a massacre of innocent people, which sadly he successfully managed to do,
06:14is now being dragged back to India this time to face the law.
06:18And we hope it will be a fast federal and with all evidence that he will be punished very, very soon.
