00:01 >> Okay.
00:01 >> [INAUDIBLE] >> Coach DJ took over, well,
00:05 he did some big scoring in that fourth quarter,
00:08 much like he did against the Lakers on Tuesday.
00:10 Just how reassuring is it for you guys to know that you've got two point guards who
00:14 can take over at each point?
00:15 >> Yeah, I think he didn't have a good shooting night, he had a great game.
00:21 And I think that's worth noting.
00:24 He's been shooting the ball so well.
00:27 But when I say from three, but his ability, as you said,
00:32 to get to the rim, to get his mid range.
00:37 And then on the other end, he had a pretty tough assignment there on Booker.
00:42 So to be able to have that burst offensively at such a crucial time and
00:48 then do it on the other end too is obviously crucial.
00:53 >> And I wanna ask about your bench, 46 points from your bench, but
00:56 especially from Onyeka and from Bowe, just how instrumental they were in this one.
01:01 >> Sometimes you take it for granted that the shots that Bowe gets,
01:05 he's always ready to shoot.
01:09 And he's able to shoot contestant shots.
01:11 But Onyeka was terrific.
01:12 He did so many good things on both ends of the floor.
01:18 We were switching and pick and roll.
01:20 And he was matched up on a lot of different people because of that.
01:23 He was matched up on Durant.
01:26 Even Booker at times.
01:30 So I thought the job that he did defensively out on the perimeter,
01:34 that's hard.
01:35 And he was very good.
01:37 And then he came up with some big rebounds.
01:39 A couple offensive rebounds that really impacted the course of the game.
01:44 >> Coach, 17 turnovers for Phoenix, 21 points off of those turnovers for you guys.
01:51 Just how important was it that you guys were able to convert off of those
01:53 turnovers?
01:54 >> Yeah, I think sometimes there's matchup situations that are tough.
01:59 I mean, really anybody on Durant is hard.
02:02 And Booker is such a newbie player and he's been playing at an unbelievably
02:07 high level.
02:07 So even if sometimes you're gonna make some shots and you gotta tip your hat.
02:15 But to the extent we can impact the game, even when they feel like they've got
02:19 a mismatch situation, by being aggressive and helping and making plays on the ball.
02:24 It's big.
02:25 And obviously, as you said, sometimes that's your best offense if you can
02:30 convert those defensive plays.
02:32 >> And also, did you have an update on this week?
02:35 >> No, our health performance.
02:37 We'll have that soon, I'm sure.
02:39 >> Coach, before the game, we talked about Trey not making the All-Star game.
02:46 And then he comes out and has a big game, sees Durant on the other team.
02:50 It's like, how much can inspiration and motivation play a role in this level?
02:55 >> Well, obviously Trey wants to be in the All-Star game.
03:01 Anybody that plays in this league wants that.
03:09 So, but I think Trey,
03:12 one of the things that's been great about what he's doing is he's not playing for
03:16 accolades, he's playing to win.
03:19 And you saw that tonight, he was one of the guys,
03:23 DJ was doing such a great job on Booker.
03:25 And a lot of times, he'll try to put Trey in pick and roll situations.
03:29 He switched onto the ball a number of times, and
03:32 was able to get in and get up into his man and use his quickness.
03:37 So as you said, we talked about that before.
03:41 You guys know how I feel about him.
03:45 And as I said, it was good to see both he and
03:50 DJ have the games they did, and Trey did some special things tonight.
03:55 And I don't know that he did that because he had any extra motivation.
04:02 You don't have to ask him that, I just felt like he was playing to win.
04:04 >> So Georgia is once again considering legalizing sports betting.
04:12 And I was wondering if you were at all in favor of it, or
04:15 you think it could be beneficial for the state to invest in something like that?
04:18 >> That's outside the scope of my job responsibilities.
04:25 I bet you guys wouldn't ask me more personnel questions.
04:27 Now it's time to gamble.
04:28 >> [LAUGH] >> So I'm wise to stay out of
04:32 political issues.
04:35 I have my views on things, but I think they need to stay.
04:38 >> [LAUGH] >> I'll take you back to personal.
04:42 You talked the last couple of days getting Hunter back, about getting size, and
04:47 you didn't have Hunter, and you lost the game.
04:49 How did you manage that situation in the game where having size against Kevin Perez
04:54 obviously had a very useful play?
04:56 >> Yeah, it's tough to have size on him when he's his size.
05:01 Wes gave us some really good minutes.
05:02 And that was an order, he just scraps and competes.
05:07 And oftentimes if you're giving up size,
05:12 you have to be aggressive and be competitive and
05:18 do those things that you have control over.
05:20 So obviously, I don't know when,
05:23 Sadik might not have missed a game since junior night.
05:27 He's such a warrior, so hopefully he's gonna be okay.
05:32 And as you said, we'll figure it out.
05:36 >> Coach, you had a good win tonight, had a good win versus the Lakers a few days ago.
05:42 You have the Clippers coming in town, and you have Golden State coming in tomorrow.
05:48 These tough games against these very unique teams,
05:51 regardless of what the conference is.
05:53 What have you seen from your team over this short stretch?
05:56 Obviously, you won three in a row now.
05:58 What have you seen so far with your team over this stretch?
06:02 And what is it that you're wanting to continue to see as you go in and
06:05 face these tough teams at home, whether you are or not?
06:07 >> Yeah, it seems like there's a lot of tough stretches in this league.
06:12 I think we've just competed collectively, that's the biggest thing.
06:17 And whether you shoot the ball well or not, we've continued to take our shots.
06:23 But we really competed in the defensive end, and
06:26 we've shared the ball in the offensive end.
06:27 Guys have had a good feel for one another, and play together.
06:31 That's a good formula.
06:34 You'll be able to have some success and
06:36 certainly be in games when you play that way, it's good to see.
06:39 >> Thanks coach.
06:41 >> Okay.
