New Zealand suffered a 70-run defeat in the first semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. After losing the toss at Wankhede Stadium, the Kiwis conceded 397 runs for four wickets as Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer hit centuries for the hosts. In reply, Kane Williamson & Co. could only manage 327 in 48.5 overs despite an 181-run stand for the third wicket between the skipper and Daryl Mitchell, who hit a brilliant century. For India, Mohammed Shami produced a dream spell (7/57) to steal the POTM honour from centurions. After the Mumbai knock-out game, Williamson hailed India's performance. (Video: ICC)

00:00 Yeah, I mean look, India are playing seriously good cricket.
00:08 They're a class side at the top of their game and to come out in a semi-final and continue
00:20 and repeat what they've been doing throughout this competition shows where they're at as
00:25 a team.
00:26 I mean, they certainly put us under a lot of pressure in that first half.
00:30 That was tough.
00:31 There wasn't much in the surface for us and we're trying to defend large parts of that.
00:36 So credit certainly to the way that they played.
00:39 And also, in that second half, proud of the fight really.
00:43 It was tough.
00:44 A lot of movement with the new ball and those sorts of things.
00:48 So to give ourselves a bit of a sniff, although a lot of things had to go our way, was a fair
00:54 effort and I think reflecting on whatever it's been, seven weeks I suppose, of cricket,
00:59 I think as a side we can be quite proud of the effort that's gone into getting to where
01:05 we are and it just didn't quite happen for us today.
