After Pahalgam Terror Attack, Authorities Demolish Homes of Suspected Militants

The authorities have traced and razed the houses of the five accused who were suspected of being involved in Pahalgam terror attack On April 22. The houses of three suspected terrorists were razed by the authorities in the Kashmir Valley on Friday after two other houses were destroyed on Thursday night.

It is part of a crackdown on terrorism days after the henious Pahalgam attack in which 26 people were killed.

Hilal Ahmad Thokar, 22, lost his parents when he was young and was brought up by his uncle Ali Mohammad Hokar. He was about to get married on 10 May and had even taken a loan for his wedding. Now his entire house has been razed and a lot of his belongings destroyed. Thokar works as a labourer and earns Rs. 10,000 a month.

Several other houses were affected and suffered damages. The locals are complaining that it's unfair for them to lose their houses, properties and all their belongings.

00:00Hi, we are in Pulwama, where security forces demolished a few houses, I think one of the accused in the blast.

00:20And as you can see in the background, people are still trying to salvage from the rubble of what can be salvaged, which is not much.

00:26We are standing on top of the house of a young man, 22 years old, who was about to get married on 10th, taken a loan out for his own wedding and he lost his parents when he was young.

00:40His whole house is gone, a lot of stuff destroyed. As you can see, there are six houses that suffered the most damages, they are all reduced to rubble.

00:49Around 50 or more houses were affected and they were all sent to the nearby mosque to take shelter.

00:57And in the morning when they came, they saw that this was all gone. Locals here are really upset about what has happened because they are saying that this was no fault of theirs.

01:08And it's not fair for them to lose their houses and their property and all their belongings.

01:16They are saying that they were locked up in the mosque and even children were not allowed to use the toilet.

01:21And for them it's a difficult moment and not many people are willing to talk to the media also because they say that they have been branded as a neighborhood of militants.
