00:00I'm definitely going back to the playoffs and going further in the playoffs to go versus the Warriors.
00:05I want to play the Warriors. I want to get to the Warriors. Wherever they at, I want to get to them.
00:09That's why the Warriors so much.
00:10I mean, because Draymond talks so much trash. That's pretty much the only reason.
00:15Bay Area is Draymond Green, and you're listening to Willard and Dibs on 95.7 The Game.
00:21Hey, that was two years ago.
00:24I love it.
00:24That was Anthony Edwards talking about his playoff future, and he wants the Warriors,
00:31mainly because Draymond Green talks so much S.
00:36Okay.
00:37It's great.
00:38Here we are.
00:38Yep.
00:39And as we found out yesterday, you detailed this.
00:41This is one of two Western Conference teams that Steph Curry and Draymond Green have never played in the playoffs.
00:48That's right.
00:48And so as of tonight, it will be down to one, the Phoenix Suns.
00:51That's the only team.
00:52So there are all kinds of crossover factors between these two teams.
01:00Anthony Edwards said he wanted the Warriors two years ago.
01:02Anthony Edwards had a pre-draft workout with the Warriors the year that they drafted James Wiseman.
01:07He went number one overall.
01:09The Warriors said directly to his face, Steve Kerr said, if we had the number one pick, we would not take you.
01:15The workout did not go well, apparently, between these two.
01:19Kerr has coached him in the Olympics.
01:23Dante DiVincenzo used to play for the Warriors.
01:25I think you've heard Jimmy Butler used to play for the Wolves.
01:29The Wolves passed on Steph Curry twice in the lottery the year that Steph Curry was coming out.
01:34So, like, man, there's a lot of stuff that leads to this moment in time.
01:39No doubt, no doubt.
01:41It's not a rivalry by any stretch, but just the Anthony Edwards part of it and hearing him talk like that about how he wants the Warriors and Draymond Green.
01:49And Anthony Edwards is the future of the association, not only as a player, but also as a trash talker.
01:56And you look at the technical list this year, he's number one in the league in techs, and he got fined more than any other player because he couldn't stop talking about the officials and, you know, complaining about this and complaining about that.
02:10So, Anthony Edwards is the perfect mix of elite player, and he's probably, you would put him right now top ten in the association.
02:20Oh, for sure.
02:21Right.
02:21Easy top ten.
02:22I'm going even, yeah, I'll go higher.
02:23Sure.
02:24I mean, a lot of it is determined by how you do in the playoffs because there's a lot of good players, and we'll get into that as we talk parody a little bit later.
02:31But he's the perfect mix of elite player and also elite talker in the association.
02:37Anthony Edwards really strikes, I think, the perfect chord.
02:42I'm a fan.
02:43I love Anthony Edwards.
02:45Now, again, we're about to start a playoff series,
02:48and playoff series have a way of making whichever team you're rooting against, by the end of that week and a half, you despise them all.
02:58I had never even thought of Alpy Shingun.
03:01I had never even thought of him in my life.
03:04That's, I mean, I was a big fan.
03:06No, I know.
03:07I was aware of him.
03:08Sure.
03:08I'm not saying I didn't know who he was, but I never spent any time thinking about Alpy Shingun.
03:12Alpy Shingun, I don't go home from the show being like, huh, I wonder what Shingun's doing right now.
03:19Same thing with Amen Thompson.
03:20Yeah, never.
03:21None of them.
03:22Brooks, yes.
03:22Yeah, yeah.
03:23Van Vliet, playoff history.
03:25But the rest of these dudes, I got, like, no thoughts about you.
03:30And three days later, I'm like, I can't stand that guy.
03:33Right.
03:33Like, I can't stand this guy.
03:35Okay, so playoff series have a way of doing that to you, but outside of Rudy Gobert, who's actually only, like, just mildly annoying.
03:46I'd say more than mildly, but that's fine.
03:48Yeah, but it's just, like, whatever.
03:49Like, Rudy Gobert.
03:50Okay.
03:51You're tall.
03:52Nice.
03:52Like, what do you actually do on the court?
03:54Okay.
03:54He rubbed his COVID all over microphones.
03:56Yes.
03:57No, see, he's annoying.
03:58He's annoying.
03:59And I sometimes, I mean, like, I don't ever want to judge a person until I got my own personal experience with you, but I do think it's interesting that Gobert seemingly has not gotten along with a lot of his own teammates through the years.
04:17And, yes, Donovan Mitchell being at the front of the line, I don't know how well-respected Rudy is around the league, but whatever.
04:25Keep that over here for a second.
04:27And largely, this Wolves roster, it's a bunch of players I kind of dig.
04:32I kind of dig them.
04:33I love, I mean, you and I literally made content out of DiVincenzo.
04:37You got, right?
04:39He is.
04:39He's restaurant quality.
04:40Restaurant quality.
04:41I do like Anthony Edwards.
04:44Naz Reed, I've had, like, a warrior crush on for years.
04:48Like, I wish he were a warrior.
04:50He does exactly what they need.
04:52Stretch big man, knock down a three.
04:54Jaden McDaniels is a two-way player who I really admire.
05:00Julius Randle, I think.
05:01Did you cover Randle down in L.A.?
05:02Was he there in your Laker days?
05:04No, no.
05:05You just missed him.
05:05Yeah, kind of, yeah.
05:07I mean, I was there, but I think I was kind of doing San Diego stuff by then, so it was like, eh, whatever.
05:13But, yeah, Julius Randle, I think is, I don't think he's great, but he's underrated.
05:18He's an underrated player in this league.
05:20So, I've enjoyed watching them play.
05:22I like the way they play.
05:23I think they're well coached.
05:25All these things.
05:26By tomorrow, I'll probably hate them all.
05:28Well, I was just going to ask you that.
05:29Like, who do you hate on this team?
05:32Like, nobody yet.
05:33Right.
05:34Gobert's the only one who I like.
05:36Like, eh.
05:36Even going into Houston, though, it was easy to look at Houston and say, all right.
05:40Dylan Brooks.
05:41And when I say hate, it's a sports hate, and maybe Dylan goes beyond sports hate, but it was easy to look at that and go, yeah, Dylan Brooks.
05:48And then after about eight minutes of Shang-Goon, it's like, all right, this guy, you need to knock that off because I can't stand watching you do what you do.
05:55But beyond that, like, Fred Van Vliet, he was annoying, but it was kind of funny because he really couldn't shoot, and we all were celebrating that.
06:03Totally.
06:03All of a sudden, he got white hot, and it's like, no, no, no, not him again.
06:08Oh, that's right.
06:08He was that Toronto guy.
06:10Yeah, he was a Toronto guy.
06:11There was Tari Eason for whatever that was.
06:13Yeah, I mean.
06:14I mean, that was no big deal, but he was trolling the Warriors a couple years ago, or maybe that was last year when he wasn't.
06:21The Warriors.
06:21Yeah.
06:22Go about to play.
06:23Yeah.
06:23That's Tari.
06:25And he, you know, wasn't even playing when he did that.
06:27He was hurt.
06:28But the Rockets beat the Warriors in, like, a regular season game, and Tari was trash talking.
06:33I mean, it got Draymond's attention and all of this stuff.
06:36So, there were little things.
06:38But, yeah, you're right.
06:40Like, I'm in Thompson.
06:41Mike Conley, for example.
06:42I got no issue with Mike Conley.
06:43That's a really good veteran guard.
06:45I mean, just a sturdy, 37-year-old left-hand dribbling, like, just a good guy.
06:50I look at the Wolves and largely what I've thought through the years, or at least this year, I'm like, dude, that guy right there would fit perfectly on the Warriors.
06:58A bunch of them.
06:59Like, I love some of their players.
07:01I wish they were on the Warriors.
07:04So, I have an admiration for this team.
07:06It'll go away.
07:08It'll go away.
07:09First time I think somebody got fouled and didn't get called for it.
07:12Yeah.
07:12First time I see someone swipe at Steph's thumb.
07:14Don't worry.
07:15It'll go away.
07:16But right now, I sit here like, dude, I've kind of enjoyed watching this team play this year.
07:20Yeah.
07:21And they've been amazing since March 1st.
07:23They are 21-5 in all games since March 1st.
07:28So, it's a team that figured it out.
07:30And I think that they were having a little trouble with the Julius Randle part of it.
07:35How do you get him to fit into your offense?
07:37Because he plays a certain way.
07:39And, you know, the Ant-Man, Anthony Edwards, has been so good all year.
07:42And then you've got this collection of really, really good pieces.
07:46Nas Reed and, you know, Rudy Gobert, a defensive stopper.
07:50And Dante DiVincenzo.
07:51That's the one that hurts me the most because, I mean, I would love for him to be a warrior again.
07:57And I know why he's not.
07:58He played so well that they couldn't afford him.
08:00And then he went to New York.
08:02And then New York just kind of scuttled him out the door.
08:05And then he wound up in Minnesota.
08:06So, I'm happy that he's doing so well.
08:08But not this week.
08:10Do you remember when we did the whole, like, forget the seedings as they actually look?
08:16Yep.
08:16Here are the seedings since Jimmy Butler's arrival in the Western Conference.
08:23And I'm like, the Warriors aren't the seven seed.
08:24They're the two seed.
08:26Oklahoma City was still number one.
08:28Golden State was number two.
08:30Do you have a recollection of where the Timberwolves were?
08:34I mean, we did the guessing game.
08:36And there were so many buzzers that my ears are still ringing.
08:39But I think I had the T-Wolves at five.
08:41But they actually probably were three.
08:44Right.
08:45Sandwich that sucker.
08:46Sandwich that sucker.
08:48Buzzer him.
08:49Buzzer him.
08:50They're not five.
08:50I'm looking at Grandy's sandwich in there.
08:52They're not three.
08:53They must be four then.
08:54Yeah, they're four.
08:55Wait, wait.
08:55Four.
08:56Four.
08:57Yeah.
08:58So, like, six versus seven?
09:01No.
09:02No.
09:03Two versus four.
09:05Two versus four.
09:07Yeah.
09:07That's how I view these teams.
09:10Because there's so many examples of this in life.
09:13Dude, you are what you are.
09:15And you are who you are right now.
09:17Not what you were.
09:19The Timberwolves have a record this year.
09:21This is why you and I will forever laugh at one another whenever we have this argument
09:27about you are what your record says you are.
09:29Oh, yeah.
09:29I'm like, no, you're not.
09:31You are who you are right now.
09:33You are who you are right now.
09:34And your record is filled with a bunch of stuff that, while it counts, it also has context.
09:41And the Warriors have a bunch of games on their record this year where Jimmy Butler wasn't on the team.
09:46And the Timberwolves have a bunch of games on their record this year where Julius Randle and Dante DiVincenzo were hurt.
09:51But you are who you are right now.
09:54Right.
09:54And the records are 0-0.
09:56Yes.
09:56But what I'm talking about is they're largely both teams are of full health.
10:01And they are ready to rock.
10:03And they are two of the top four teams in the West.
10:08And it's why they're in the Final Four in the West.
10:10And they're two of the four remaining teams.
10:12Yes.
10:12We can talk about you are what your record says.
10:14And OKC won 68 games.
10:16And yet they're down 0-1 to Denver.
10:19So does the 68 wins in the regular season matter?
10:22Not really.
10:23Not anymore.
10:23Because now you need to win four of the next six.
10:26Or else you're going to be one of the biggest disappointments in playoff history.
10:30You don't even have home court advantage anymore.
10:31Right.
10:32That's all it takes.
10:33So for me, the record that you have right now is 0-0.
10:36You're 0-0 and Minnesota's the same.
10:37Agreed.
10:38Agreed.
10:38I just think this is a heavyweight fight.
