00:00This is our last show of the regular season in the NBA.
00:04We're here. We arrived.
00:06This is the weekend we've all been thinking about and talking about for, count them up,
00:12three and a half months.
00:14Honestly, that's when the NBA season starts to take shape.
00:18I think the stress was here by January.
00:21Oh my God, they're only 500.
00:23They're falling to the 12-3 thing, didn't stick.
00:25What are they going to do? Are they going to make a trade?
00:27Are they going to make a trade? Are they going to make a trade?
00:28We did this every day in January.
00:30And then first week of February, they make a trade.
00:32And look at them now.
00:33They win a bunch of basketball games.
00:35Steve Kerr said out loud, the goal is the sixth seed.
00:38Where do they sit? Right now.
00:39What seed are they?
00:41They're the sixth seed.
00:42They still have two basketball games.
00:44They could win them. They could lose them.
00:46They could go one-on-one.
00:47There are other teams that affect all of this.
00:48I get it.
00:49But I really kind of arrived today at a spot of pure warrior joy.
00:56And I know that that's odd coming off of yesterday where we talked about what I refer to as the worst loss of the year.
01:04And I think from an emotional standpoint, it was.
01:08But like you and I were talking with Lucas.
01:10He's the director of sports at 95-7, the game.
01:13Yeah.
01:13And earlier today, he said that that game on Wednesday night shook him.
01:18It shook his confidence a little bit with regard.
01:22And, you know, that typical lie, if you can't do that, how am I supposed to believe that you can win a playoff series?
01:30It's a good Lucas.
01:31Don't you think I nailed it?
01:33Mm-hmm.
01:33Okay.
01:35Steve Kerr was on with us yesterday.
01:37And he's like chilling.
01:40It's like that's the NBA.
01:42You know, you're not going to win all of these.
01:45You're going to have some disappointing ones and all of that.
01:48And I just got to thinking about it after Minnesota gacked a 25-point lead in the fourth quarter.
01:54Memphis is leading their game at halftime and got outscored 52-25 last night on their own floor.
02:01Lots of teams just with gaffes out there.
02:05And that's part of the picture.
02:08And so, I don't know, man.
02:10I woke up today.
02:11Wednesday was completely wiped clean.
02:14I'm pretty excited that they have this opportunity this weekend.
02:18And there's absolutely no confidence shaken whatsoever with regard to what may happen next in the weeks to come because of Wednesday night.
02:27Not because of Wednesday night.
02:29But I do think that you could look at the Warriors and have your confidence not necessarily shaken.
02:34But you know that in the Western Conference, it's kind of wide open.
02:37And yeah, last night was a good example where Memphis was awesome.
02:42And then Minnesota came back.
02:43And then Minnesota absolutely buried Memphis.
02:46And it was like, wow, Memphis, I mean, you're a fraud.
02:49And Houston came and beat the Warriors up.
02:52And so you can think, wow, I mean, the Warriors can't match up with Houston.
02:54But any given night, any given series, I do think when you look at things from that broader perspective and you think about a best of seven, like Warriors against fill-in-the-blank in a best of seven, it becomes a lot more of a Warriors-friendly matchup.
03:11Agreed.
03:11One game against Houston where the Warriors were at the tail end of a gauntlet coming off a long road trip against a younger team.
03:18Yeah, you can look at that and say, okay, Houston was in a spot where they could do what they did and the Warriors had no response.
03:25Yeah, bad one.
03:27The San Antonio loss is a little bit different.
03:29That to me was just kind of a bad performance in the wrong spot.
03:32And if they do it again tonight in Portland against a team that they're favored by 13 against or 13 and a half or 14, wherever you shop, whatever the number is, it's a game that you would think that the Warriors should win.
03:48And Portland's got a lot of their regulars not playing.
03:51So if the Warriors go out there and they struggle or if they lose, well, then you can draw different conclusions.
03:57But I do think about the Warrior team in terms of a seven-game series.
04:01And I'm guessing that they will get there unless they don't win both these games.
04:06If they win both, you're the sixth seed and maybe even better depending on what happens.
04:11But I do think that the Warrior team is built more for a best of seven than they are for a one-off.
04:16Totally agree.
04:17Totally agree.
04:18And I also just like to me, like stop today and remember the big picture.
04:24I think it's important.
04:26You can still be mad about Wednesday night and damn it, the rotations and the sloppy play.
04:31Down the stretch and the missed threes.
04:33All fair.
04:34Let's fan.
04:35We can do what we do when we watch a game.
04:38I was super bummed and disappointed as well when the Warriors lost that basketball game.
04:43But I also think that basketball game, from my ear and my eye, it robbed a lot of Warrior fans of their mojo.
04:51That's what hit me when Lucas was this morning.
04:53Oh, my confidence is shaken.
04:55Hold on a damn second.
04:57This is what we begged for.
05:03We begged for this.
05:05We prayed for this.
05:08We wanted this.
05:09Was there a trade out there that could just, remember Steve Kerr, we need to give Steph that at bat.
05:16Yep.
05:16That's all our job is.
05:20Do something to give Steph that at bat.
05:24Well, guess what?
05:25Step to the plate, my man.
05:27You're 37 years old.
05:29Here's your wonder boy.
05:31Go to the bat and take a swing.
05:34You get two games.
05:36You want to win them?
05:37Then you get a whole series, at least.
05:39You get your at bat.
05:40At bat.
05:41Like, dude, they did it.
05:43They did it.
05:45They did it.
05:46Not yet.
05:47No, but they did it.
05:48The at bat is here.
05:50Well, the at bat might be a play-in game.
05:51It could be.
05:52That's not the at bat.
05:52No, the at bat is here now because if you just win these two games, you're not a play-in team.
05:58So start your at bat.
05:59Yep.
06:00Well, they have started the at bat.
06:01Yeah.
06:01And they've lost, what, two in a row?
06:03No, two of three.
06:04Yeah, two of three.
06:05Two of three.
06:05But you could, I mean, you could spin out further from that and they had won four in
06:10a row going into losing two of three.
06:12So they've won five of seven.
06:14Right.
06:14I could say it that way, too.
06:16And you could go back to when they were 12 and three and you could say they've won 35
06:20of 65.
06:21So they're 35 and 30 since they started 12 and three.
06:25Right.
06:25So we can do this however we want to do it.
06:27It feels a little less relevant.
06:28I'm much more focused.
06:29Well, the relevance is all whatever you want to do and however you want to draw.
06:33Jimmy Butler's arrival.
06:34That's, I mean, to me, that's what's relevant right now because that's who they are.
06:39That's who they are in this moment.
06:40Well, for me, the relevance is even more like recent than that because you look at the Clippers
06:45and they've won eight of 10 and you've won six of four.
06:48So now the Clippers have jumped you and that's where the game on Sunday now becomes huge.
06:52And if you win tonight and you should, then you get to Sunday and that's a game that's
06:57going to have huge import.
06:59And it might not mean you get to five.
07:01It might just mean that you keep to six.
07:03Yeah.
07:04It might.
07:05It might mean other things.
07:06There's a lot of other teams that need to play a lot of other games and I think I've learned
07:09by now there are surprises.
07:11I know we look at the scale.
07:12Well, they're not going to lose that game.
07:13Well, they might.
07:15They might.
07:16Minnesota might lose to Brooklyn tonight.
07:18I'd be super shocked, but they might be tired.
07:22They might be fatigued.
07:23Well, Memphis and Denver, too.
07:25Yeah, exactly.
07:26Well, I would expect Memphis to lose, but maybe not.
07:29Yep.
07:30You know, Jamal Murray's supposed to play.
07:32Minnesota favored by...
07:33By probably almost 20, I would think.
07:35Try more than 20.
07:37Yeah.
07:37Yeah.
07:3720 and a hook.
07:3920 and a half.
07:40I'm actually looking.
07:41My board has them at now 21.
07:43Yeah.
07:44Yeah.
07:44I'm looking at ESPN.
07:45Of course.
07:4620 and a half.
07:47Yeah.
07:47I mean, this time of year, wow.
07:50After playing on the road last night, they got that late.
07:54TNT, we're not going to...
07:56You know what I mean?
07:57Memphis and Minnesota put a lot into that game.
07:59Tight game into the second half.
08:01And then both of them got on a plane and went somewhere not that close.
08:06You know, Memphis flew all the way to Denver.
08:07Minnesota flew home.
08:09Now they got games tonight.
08:10I don't know what's going to happen.
08:11This could absolutely spin the Warriors' way.
08:14And I would predict that when we go to bed tonight,
08:17they will have sewn up at least the seven.
08:20That would be my guess.
08:22My guess is that Denver and the Warriors will both win tonight.
08:26And that means the Warriors will be at worst in the seven slot.
08:29Yep.
08:29No matter what happens the rest of the way.
08:31Which is nice.
08:32But, I mean, it all lies on the six.
08:34And we talked about it so many times before about getting to the playoff
08:38and not having to worry about the play-in.
08:39But I do wonder about, like, Warrior fans and your confidence.
08:43Where was it a week ago as opposed to where is it now?
08:48Is it more shaken after what happened against San Antonio and Houston?
08:52I like the question.
08:53No.
08:53I shook myself.
08:55That's what I did today.
08:56I'm not.
08:57Wednesday?
08:58Eh.
08:58Stupid.
08:59Lame.
09:00Bummed.
09:00All that.
09:01Whatever.
09:01It happened.
09:02This is the NBA.
09:03It happens.
09:05I'm going larger view.
09:07We're here.
09:08In January, we asked for this.
09:10We're here.
09:11Here's your weekend.
09:12You got two basketball games.
09:14You win them.
09:15You're a playoff team.
09:16It's exactly what we were hoping for.
09:19But we get so bogged down by the moment.
09:21That's all for a lot of us.
09:22And I get it.
