00:00I'm still sort of in that mode where I'm like, I can't believe it.
00:05And I think actually, because one of the three or four times I tuned in to Steini and Goo today,
00:11I pop on right around noon and I hear a guru going,
00:15I don't feel it from the Warrior fans. I'm not feeling it.
00:18I'm not feeling confident. I don't feel the buzz. I don't feel the juice.
00:22Where is it? And I do think, you're going to get mad at me.
00:27I do think that there is a little drip, just a little drip of happy to be here.
00:38I know that that's like, champions don't do that.
00:42I get it.
00:42But there is.
00:43I'm not mad at that.
00:44There's a little bit of you're happy to be here.
00:47I don't mean you're going to play like that.
00:49I don't mean, oh, it's okay if we lose in five.
00:51I don't mean that.
00:53But in this moment, and I hope the Warriors don't bring it to the court tonight,
00:57but there is, there's a little bit of we're happy to be here.
01:01Because I do think a lot of us spent 48 hours thinking that the season was about to end.
01:06Well, and I think it's because of the short turnaround.
01:08That's why we have a little bit of that same feeling.
01:10Because I woke up in a little bit of the same way.
01:13I mean, woke up, I didn't really sleep last night, but.
01:15Why not?
01:16I got this, like, this cough and I got this long thing.
01:19I was keeping you up?
01:19Oh, dude.
01:20Yeah.
01:20Why don't you get some of those knockout drugs?
01:22Tonight.
01:23Knock yourself out.
01:23Tonight we're going to go ahead and go LL Cool J.
01:25I'm going to knock you out.
01:26Yeah.
01:27But, you know, last night we tried to ride it out.
01:29And so, whatever.
01:30I'm not going to complain.
01:32But I had many thoughts in the middle of the night of kind of what you're talking about,
01:36which is, man, they have another series.
01:38You know, I'm appreciating it.
01:40Exactly.
01:40But I don't think that when you get that much of a short turn,
01:43because Sunday happened and Sunday night and you come in Monday and you do what we did
01:47and then now you wake up Tuesday, it's like, oh my God, they have a game?
01:50If they had a game tomorrow, I do think that all of us would be a lot more ready to rev up
01:56and get after it and really talk about, like, Minnesota, let's break it the blank down.
02:02But at the same time, if they go out and they lose and they go down one game to none,
02:06well, yeah, everyone will be very activated come tomorrow.
02:09Well, sure, everyone, like, I mean, you lose a playoff game, you freak out.
02:13That's what is happening today in Oklahoma City and Boston.
02:17Although they'll all act like they're not, you know what I mean?
02:19Because those are like, those are the big bad, the one seed, the defending champs, all that.
02:24They're going to act like it's all good.
02:25It's not all good.
02:26When you lose a playoff game, you carry that sucker around with you for 48 hours or 72 hours
02:31or however long it is until your next game and you feel like the world is falling
02:35and then you win one game and you feel unbeatable
02:37and you cruise around with your chest out for 48 hours.
02:39Like, that's the rhythm.
02:41That's the process of this whole thing.
02:44But, like, there's no doubt compared to what was happening going into the weekend
02:49that for a fan at least, this does feel less stressful.
02:56Tonight is less stressful than Friday and Sunday were.
03:00Oh, for sure.
03:01For sure.
03:01No question.
03:02Well, it's game one.
03:03Game one is always going to be less stressful.
03:05Even though if you look at the numbers, and I know numbers are numbers.
03:09They are.
03:09I looked it up.
03:10Yeah, and if you look at the team that wins game one in an NBA series,
03:15they win about 75% of the time.
03:17But when the road team wins game one, it's about 50-50.
03:23Oh, that's interesting.
03:25Yeah.
03:25See, because that's what we're looking at last night, and I don't know.
03:29All three of them.
03:29Nobody thinks now Cleveland and Oklahoma City are going to lose the series.
03:33Right.
03:34Nobody thinks that.
03:34It might happen, but nobody thinks that.
03:35Well, the history would tell you that those teams, I think,
03:38they win about 49% of the time when they lose game one at home.
03:44And, you know, the majority of those teams obviously go out there
03:47and they win game two at home.
03:49But that's kind of what the Warriors are looking at.
03:51If you can get one of these two, if you get game one, obviously,
03:55now you're in the catbird seat as a veteran team.
03:57If you just win one of these two, which is what the Warriors have traditionally
04:01done in these series, you're going to be fine.
04:03Well, oh, absolutely.
04:04And I think that takes away a little bit of the, not the urgency,
04:08but the stress of it.
04:10Like game seven, oh, my God, there's nothing more stressful than a game seven,
04:14especially when you're up three games to one.
04:16Yes, and I, no doubt.
04:17And I treated, mentally, the hell if I have anything to do with these games,
04:22but emotionally, I treated game six like game seven.
04:25Because I thought that they weren't going to win the series if they lost game six.
04:28And part of that, too, is, you know, you were there and it was home
04:30and you were with the lovely Christy.
04:32Almost fainted.
04:33We did a show.
04:34And I hate them.
04:35I never even met them.
04:36I didn't ask their names.
04:37But for those two and a half hours, I hated them.
04:39Right.
04:40They seemed like nice ladies, but I hated them.
04:41That was one of those games where you never felt like the Warriors had a hold on anything.
04:46No, they got beat.
04:47They got roundly beat.
04:48They got beat.
04:49They got beat, but they never even had that like, oh, here they come.
04:52Well, they cut it to two at the end of three quarters.
04:55Yes, but it never felt to me watching it at home like, okay.
04:58No, it didn't feel like they were going to win.
04:59Right.
05:00I mean.
05:01They were the worst team that night.
05:02But you watch game seven and they're up and it's like, oh, my God, okay, Draymond.
05:05Okay, buddy.
05:06And you're up and you're still up.
05:08And buddy from half court, okay.
05:10That one felt like, okay, this actually might happen.
05:13I think that's what you're tapping into is what I'm trying to sort of wrap my head around
05:20with these NBA playoffs.
05:22They're different.
05:23This is different than I think anything we've ever experienced before.
05:29And here's what I mean by that.
05:30I truly do believe that on any given night, any of these eight teams can be the better
05:38team on the floor that night.
05:40I also, we've watched this 20 point leads dissipate in the snap of a finger.
05:46It is bananas how quickly these teams take a 20 point deficit and turn it into 10.
05:51And you're like, okay, well, now you got a basketball game again.
05:54And so there's that.
05:56There's parity.
05:58There's just unbelievable three point shooting.
06:01And then there's the whole cliche of make or miss league.
06:03And everybody's going to have sort of like, I give both teams in all these series, one
06:08game each to just start the series.
06:10Cause I'm like, you're going to be super hot one night and you're going to be super cold
06:14one night.
06:15And that goes for all teams.
06:16And so you're going to win one because buddy healed scored 33 points without actually walking
06:22inside the three point arc.
06:23And then you'll have another night where you shoot 28% from three and, and, and you lose
06:29the game.
06:29And that's just kind of, that's where we're at.
06:32And so that, that to me is a, it leads into the feeling out period of a game one, which
06:38is, I think what we're going to, we're going to get tonight.
06:40Something that's a little bit more like, Oh, let's dip our toe in the water over here.
06:43Does this work?
06:44Does that work?
06:45And, and there's not a terrible amount of stress to whichever team loses, but all in
06:50all dibs, when I look at the playoffs right now from 10,000 feet, dude, it makes me feel
06:57better about the Warriors chances of actually competing for a ring.
07:01Cause I'll be honest with you.
07:03I, I definitely had them on my list of, well, they could win a ring, right?
07:08I didn't think they would.
07:09I still wouldn't pick them to do it right now, but when you look at the way this is
07:14playing out, I sort of, I sort of look at the Warriors and we're not used to this.
07:19When they win rings, we're like, Ooh, they're the best team.
07:21They're not the best team, but I don't know how much the other teams are the best team
07:26either.
07:27Every one of these teams has unbelievable strengths and gaping weaknesses, even Oklahoma
07:33city, even Oklahoma city.
07:35Um, and you saw it last night, you know what I mean?
07:40Someone like, uh, Nikola Jokic, it's going to be a problem for them in that series.
07:46It's going to be a problem for everyone.
07:47It's a problem.
07:47Yeah.
07:48He, he is totally a problem and Oklahoma city is not problem proof.
07:52And so maybe that just means the Warriors have a one in eight shot, but I'll take it.
07:58I said that.
07:59That's great.
08:00That's great.
08:00Like they're in the mix.
08:02That's kind of just, that's how I look at this team.
08:04Yeah, they have more than a live shot.
08:07And if you look at this year, I do think you're right about the parody part of it, because
08:11if you want to go back in time and look at the best team and how often the best team
08:17wins the NBA championship, it's about 19 out of every 20, but this year feels like it might
08:22be a little bit more wide open.
08:23Like last year, Boston was the best team.
08:26They were the best team in the regular season.
08:28They were the best team in the playoffs and they won the title.
08:31The one that's interesting is the Warriors in 2022.
08:34They probably weren't the best team, but they won the title.
08:38They played well.
08:40They got a break or two and then they went up against an inexperienced Boston team and
08:44they beat them.
08:44So this year actually might be not saying that the Warriors will win it, but this year feels
08:49a little bit more like 2022.
08:502022.
