6 May - National weather forecast presented by Clare Nasir.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:04It's a dry week ahead apart from one or two light showers.
00:08Now high pressure firmly and charge blocking any weather systems coming in from any direction.
00:14A bit cooler through Tuesday into Wednesday yet again along this eastern side exposed to a wind from the North Sea.
00:21Into Thursday high pressure still with us.
00:23Now for the time being it's quiet outside, some late sunshine to end the day.
00:29Again one or two drizzly showers can't be ruled out on this eastern strip here.
00:33And a few showers possible under cloudier skies for Shetland.
00:37A few mist and fog patches also and under clearer skies across the glens.
00:42We could see temperatures dipping down below freezing so there's a chance of one or two local frost patches as we head into the first part of Wednesday morning.
00:52Wednesday dawns bright for some with some blue sky particularly for central parts of Scotland.
00:57Brighter skies elsewhere as well as the cloud breaks.
01:00One or two early showers drifting across the skies but it's a fine day for most.
01:05Again notice this wind coming in from the North Sea.
01:08Sea surface temperatures currently are relatively low.
01:12So exposed to that wind temperatures are going to feel a bit lower than what it says.
01:16So 13, 14, 15 and along this east coast feeling more like 10 or even 11.
01:21Bright skies, blue sunshine elsewhere in shelter.
01:23Temperatures coming in around 17, 18 even 19 degrees Celsius.
01:28So a degree up on Tuesday.
01:31Now through Wednesday evening and overnight it's a similar situation.
01:35Yet again we do have this feed from the North Sea which extends from Northumberland all the way down this eastern side.
01:42And again where the clouds are thick enough you could see a drizzly shower.
01:45Never really amounting to very much though.
01:47Clearer skies elsewhere.
01:48Chilly start to the day across Scotland.
01:50And Northern Ireland seeing some fine weather if not some sunshine.
01:53Now through Thursday a mix of cloud and sun.
01:56There could be some stubborn patches of cloud, Northern England, North Wales.
01:59But some brighter skies coming through.
02:01Highs 16 to 18 or 19 Celsius.
02:0420 will be your high on Friday.
02:07Most places bathed in that lovely May sunshine.
02:10So feeling warm.
02:11Remember UV levels are moderate to high.
02:13I'll see you later.
