25 April - National weather forecast presented by Clare Nasir.
Transcript
00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Friday morning, which is fine for most.
00:05Not the case across Northern Ireland and western fringes of Scotland.
00:08We do have a weather front here bringing outbreaks of rain, a bit of a breeze as well.
00:13High pressure which influenced us through Thursday, drifting towards Scandinavia now.
00:18This is a weakening front, introducing more clouds, some showery bursts.
00:22Most of the wet weather will be across Scotland, the far north of England.
00:24As we see more rain arrive across the northwest on Sunday,
00:28the winds pick up towards the north, but temperatures will recover and settled in the south.
00:33Now through this morning, it's a mix of low clouds, some mist and fog patches,
00:37but also some clearer skies allowing for some sunshine.
00:39Fine also for southern Scotland, northwest England,
00:42but you can see where this cloud and rain is across Northern Ireland,
00:44pushing towards the Isle of Man and the western side of Scotland.
00:48Quite a breeze here, further east across Scotland, some clearer skies, a bit chilly,
00:53but more clouds across Aberdeenshire and Angerswold could see the odd spot or two of drizzle.
00:57So through this morning, the cloud will slowly break across England and Wales,
01:02away from the western side of Wales, where you'll see filaments of rain just clipping that western side.
01:08Elsewhere, yes, broken cloud allowing for some sunshine.
01:11Notice there's not a lot of forcing on this weather front.
01:14It is attempting to push in across western parts of Scotland,
01:17but certainly across central and eastern areas, a fine end to the day,
01:20and a mix of cloud and sunshine elsewhere.
01:22This will allow temperatures to rise to around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius,
01:27cooler along that east coast, and under the cloud, yes,
01:30temperatures struggling to around 11 or 12 Celsius.
01:33So a wet day on Friday for Northern Ireland.
01:36Now, through this evening and overnight, that rain continues.
01:39It could pep up.
01:40Showery bursts just coming and going.
01:42Elsewhere, some clearer skies, maybe even some mist and fog forming along this eastern strip here,
01:47as we see a little bit of wet weather extend towards West Wales, the west country,
01:51northwest England, central and western areas of Scotland.
01:53But good news, on Saturday, Northern Ireland will have a much better start to the day
01:58with some fine weather, if not some sunshine.
02:00By around mid-morning into lunchtime, you can see where this weather front is.
02:05As you can see, it's a weakening affair.
02:07Showery for Scotland.
02:09Some showers likely across the spine of the country,
02:12down towards east Wales, central southern England.
02:14Now, for Northern Ireland, the clouds will break one or two showers, but some drier weather.
02:19We hang on to drier conditions across eastern counties of England,
02:23with some sunshine coming through.
02:25And with a change of wind direction, temperatures will be higher on this eastern strip,
02:2914 to 16 Celsius, 20 in the southeast, and even 16 across the central belt of Scotland.
02:35Here's Saturday into Sunday for you then.
02:37Cloud and rain towards the north, as well as the west.
02:40The rain has cleared the east, so we'll see fine weather on Sunday,
02:43with some sunshine coming through.
02:45A lighter breeze, temperatures climbing into the 20s yet again.
02:48The mid-teens for Northern Ireland, as well as the central belt of Scotland.
02:51The rain continues there across the north, as well as the west, with a stronger wind.
02:55Wherever you are, have a wonderful Friday.
02:57I'll see you again soon.
