00:00Hey there, I'm Daniel Flynn and I am in Ypsilanti Planet Fitness for City of the Week.
00:09Woody the Burners know and I are getting in a little bit of cardio while we're checking out
00:13Ypsilanti. Fascinating community and one of the things I love the most about Ypsilanti is every
00:18time I'm here, no matter how many times I come with City of the Week over the years, I always
00:22find something new and this time it was the Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum. It's in
00:29depot town and such a great history behind it. They have one of the original Hudson Hornets over
00:35there. The Hudson Hornet they have was driven by Herb Thomas. He was a NASCAR driver back in the 50s
00:41and the car is just amazing to see. It was restored by Jack Miller. Jack Miller, Ypsilanti, all his life,
00:48he owned the Hudson car dealership and it was the last Hudson car dealership on the planet and when
00:56he finally closed that thing because he just couldn't get parts to fix the cars anymore,
01:00he turned it into a museum and they actually made the car lot as well as the adjoining post office,
01:06it was also an unemployment office, all part of the Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum. Now if you
01:13want to go see this thing, they have very specific hours, one to four, Thursday, Friday, Saturday,
01:18Sunday, excluding holidays. I was like, am I going to get there and there's not really going to be
01:22many people there or will they not have very many cars? Wrong. I was like, what? Did somebody just
01:28create a Sunday afternoon party when I stopped by? And no, it wasn't because of me. But they have
01:32some amazing vehicles including, I saw a 1975 electric car. I didn't even know they had them
01:39back then. I saw a DeLorean. They have a DeLorean at the Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum plus all the
01:46history of Jack Miller, everything that he did for the community, the history of the Hudson automobile
01:52brand as well as the Hornet, which was, I mean, that was a thing, man. Cars, like one of the cars
01:58in Cars was done after the Hudson Hornet. If you've seen the show with your kids, you know what I'm
02:03talking about. All right, Woody. God, he's so lazy, like his legs aren't even moving. We are live in
02:09Ypsilanti Planet Fitness with WCFX.
