00:0095.9 The Rat, we're going to do quick sports from Eastside, Dave.
00:04Dave, what do you got?
00:06Okay, let's start with basketball, where the New York Knicks are a win away
00:11from the Eastern Conference Semifinals, as the Knicks beat the Cavs yesterday, 102-93.
00:17How about that, huh?
00:19Yes, they take Game 4 and a 3-games-to-1 advantage in the process.
00:24Knicks point guard, Jalen Brunson, has been incredible in this postseason.
00:29He had another great game, 29 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists.
00:34Game 5 is Wednesday evening in Cleveland, and yes, if the Knicks win, they will advance.
00:41Boy, that's exciting.
00:42And that is fantastic. It's been a really fun, exciting year.
00:46Knicks have a ton of great talent, a lot of young talent, and it's an exciting team,
00:51so I hope people get on board.
00:53That place was crazy on Friday night.
00:57Oh, Friday night was one of the greatest Madison Square Gardens I've ever seen or heard,
01:02and that's not just me talking.
01:03You had R.J. Barrett after the game said,
01:05I've never experienced anything like this in my life.
01:08The crowd was insane.
01:10And they were great yesterday, too, but on Friday night,
01:14people are going to be able to hit the bar a little bit.
01:16Absolutely.
01:17It was awesome.
01:18Meanwhile, the 76ers did their job.
01:21They swept the Nets as Philly defeated Brooklyn 96-88 on Saturday to take Game 4 in the series,
01:28as the Sixers win four games to none.
01:31Sixers' Tobias Harris had 25 points in the win,
01:33and right now the 76ers look like the best team in the East.
01:37Maybe the best team in the NBA.
01:39Hockey tonight, Game 4 between the Devils and Rangers.
01:43Devils are looking to tie up the series after getting a 2-1 win over the Rangers in overtime on Saturday.
01:49Thank God for Dougie Hamilton, man.
01:51I'll tell you that right now.
01:52Hamilton scored the game winner for the Devils,
01:54and a big win tonight would tie up the series.
01:58Kind of a crazy series, as the road teams have won all the games thus far.
02:01Oh, yeah, that's true.
02:03So, I don't know what that means, but that's what's happened.
02:06Hockey is weird bounces, man.
02:08Although the first two games were not weird bounces.
02:11The Devils just got it handed to them.
02:13Yes, they did.
02:13Other NHL scores from yesterday.
02:16Islanders lost to the Hurricanes 5-2.
02:18The Bruins crushed the Panthers 6-2.
02:20Stars got past the Wild 3-2,
02:23and the Oilers defeated the Kings 5-4.
02:25Baseball, the Yankees lost to the Blue Jays yesterday 5-1.
02:28The Yankees' Clark Schmidt continues to struggle as he receives the loss,
02:33drops to 0-2 for the season.
02:34His ERA is over 6.
02:37We need Clark Schmidt to shape up.
02:39Otherwise, maybe call up a youngster from the minors.
02:42The Mets fell to the Giants 5-4.
02:44Drew Smith gets the loss for the Mets.
02:47And the Phillies dominated the Rockies 9-3.
02:49Trey Turner, Brandon Marsh, Cody Clemens, and Bryson Stott
02:52each homer in the game for the Phillies.
02:54And finally, football this Thursday is the NFL Draft.
02:58But, according to Ian Rappaport of NFL Media,
03:01the Jets and Packers have resumed talks.
03:05Okay.
03:06I'm listening.
03:07On Aaron Rodgers, of course.
03:09Yeah.
03:09Not resumed talks on the place kicker.
03:12Imagine if I gave you that.
03:13Come on.
03:14As a kick to the...
03:15I mean, like it's all about draft picks.
03:17Draft picks.
03:18Draft picks.
03:19So this is what Rappaport is saying.
03:21Don't know what inside information he has,
03:23but he's a respected NFL journalist.
03:25He says the sticking point has become the compensation for 2024
03:29and the protection for the Jets in 2025
03:33if Rodgers doesn't play beyond this upcoming season.
03:38So, in other words, Rodgers goes out, he plays, has a great year,
03:42but then decides to retire.
03:44The Jets don't want to be screwed in two years for the draft
03:46because they're saying, hey, we need to draft somebody.
03:50Yeah.
03:50And if Rodgers isn't even on the team,
03:52why should we, you know, lose a draft pick for two years from now?
03:55We can do it this year and next year.
03:57The Jets are willing to lose draft picks.
03:59I don't know, man.
04:01If it means a deep playoff run, I mean, dare I say, Super Bowl?
04:07Super Bowl.
04:08I'd give up draft picks.
04:10I'd be like the Mets and that Bobby Bonilla.
04:12Every year they give him a million bucks.
04:14Hey, you can put everything in writing.
04:16Why not just do that?
04:18Why not say, Aaron Rodgers plays for the Jets.
04:21They win a Super Bowl.
04:23We don't care how many draft picks you take over the course of the next two years.
04:26Exactly.
04:27If the Jets don't win the Super Bowl, we get our draft picks in 2025.
04:32I would put it in writing.
04:33Conditional on a Super Bowl win.
04:35You could do that.
04:36That would be crazy.
04:37Man, if everything's in, everything can be negotiated.
04:40I don't know that Green Bay would sign that, but boy, that's an interesting idea.
04:44Sign it.
04:44If you're the Packers, I think you take the risk.
04:47Wow.
04:47I mean, at the end of the day, the odds are 1-32.
04:51Yeah.
04:51So the odds are with you that they're not going to win the Super Bowl.
04:53Yeah.
04:54And with all due respect, Jets haven't won in 50 years.
04:56So maybe the odds are a little bit bigger than 1-32.
04:59Wait, that wasn't very respectful.
05:00But if they got Aaron Rodgers, they're an AFC playoff team.
05:07I'd like to think so.
05:08Yeah.
05:08Yeah.
05:08Yeah.
